younger - hope it all catches up with you at the right time and you get a good nights sleep.

Pula - great progress

Jael - glitter gets everywhere! Hope it clears up in the end. As for oven cleaning... I must do that at some point!

Belgina - I think I'd be the same about not wanting to leave O to cry on his own (at least to begin with) so don't worry, you're quite right to ask your AP to do this.
GREAT going on the shopping!

Dandy - O is only just making babbling noises in (I presume!) English, nevermind Mandarin!! V impressive

saus - yay for handing in notice!! Bet that feels soooo good!

Febes - hope A and R settled down. Look forward to seeing them again tomorrow!!

Looby - hope your visit to your mum went ok

meet up - I'm suddenly feeling v apprehensive about the journey. Think I'll bring the buggy. Need to change at Clapham Junction to get to Waterloo. Also have no idea what to wear! Prob just scruffy jeans

work - on the whole went ok. Didn't get off to a great start though as they changed the venue without telling me! I phoned my boss to find out where they were and he said "oops!" I had to get back in the car and drive another 20miles.
O was ok but ever day he goes to nursery, he ends up in his spare clothes. Today they said he was dribbling loads and soaked his top and vest.

flippinegg · 18/02/2010 21:24

Cross-posts!

llareggub - that's impressive, knowing hen wlad fy nhadau at 3! We haven't got that far yet, DH and I are teaching her about the importance of the 6 Nations. The problem is that he's English and I'm Welsh!

essenceofSES · 18/02/2010 21:25

x-posted with loads of you there!
Febes - Hope you can make it tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

flippinegg · 18/02/2010 21:25

Don't worry Ses, I'll be in jeans (and scruffy boots) too - don't really do anything else!

flippinegg · 18/02/2010 21:27

Oh, and Febes - hope you have a good night and everyone is well tomorrow.

youngerthanspringtime · 18/02/2010 21:33

Ses, scruffy is my dress code of late. I wore the scruffiest ones with battered converse today to meet grumpy (I'm sure she didn't mind ). on the other hand, she looked fresh-faced, hair perfect, fab (and her DD's are beautiful too).

essenceofSES · 18/02/2010 21:36

Right, well watch out for the scruffy 30-something that looks lost with a dribbling 9mo in a Britax Vigour then!
Just working out I probably need to leave home about 9.15am so will have to be (unusually for me!) v organised in the morning!

Might head off to bed now. Here's to good nights all round

youngerthanspringtime · 18/02/2010 21:37

flippin, moving DC's together: I wouldn't move our H in with either of our older DDs even though we thought we might to give dd1 her own room. H still sings herself to sleep and often wakes up at 6 chatting which would wake up anyone else in the room.

I'd improve sleep first with A. what do you think?

febes · 18/02/2010 21:41

Just coloured my hair so at least I'll not have a grey mop tomorrow for the meet up. R has been alseep for past hour so fingers crossed.

Ses Do you want to come to me and leave your car here and we can make our way in together? I'll be wearing scruffy jeans for sure too.

Masterchef Is this the first night? I love MC I have been watching the Australian version while the DCs nap this week .

Jael · 18/02/2010 21:44

Belgina I'm v.impressed with your shopping! Can you post a pic?

The Oven I felt because I hadn't cleaned the oven since before we had Christmas Dinner lol

Glitter Is still on the lounge carpet, the dog has got it on her paws too so it's on the kitchen floor too. I have now banned glitter in our house until J is a little older. His hands were lterally covered and he was sucking his thumb I'm expecting glitter poo's tomorrow!

Hope the snow melts for you down south, if it's bad. Have fun at the meet up.

Jael XX

belgina · 18/02/2010 21:45

flippin I'll be in jeans this time, it being winter and all that. Jeans, my new boots and a jumpery thing. My old boots were so scruffy they were coming apart, so I really didn't want to go out wearing them
C's still in with us too. I'd say improve sleep first too
I'm watching the gypsy wedding thing too.

febes Oh, no. Vapour rub and calpol him. I hope you can come tomorrow

Better go and copy all the phone numbers now.

I had a look for a pic of my new dress, but nothing. I'll put a pic on FB when DH and I go out. He'll look all James Bond like (but with short legs ) in his dinner jacket and I'll look glam in my long black satin new dress.

febes · 18/02/2010 21:46

Flippin We put R in DDs room for 2 weeks on his own before moving her back in. He was still waking a few times a night (and still is now) but he has only woken her about 3 times in nearly 2 months. I am really surprised how well it's gone. Good luck.

essenceofSES · 18/02/2010 21:57

Febes - that might be a nice plan What time were you planning on leaving your place? I'll text you...

I'm all tucked up in bed in my PJs now I like to come up and have a snuggle down and get warm before DH comes to bed. I find it takes me ages to get to sleep otherwise.

FiByTheIcySea · 18/02/2010 22:15

well i'm all ready for my early bird start tomorrow.. will have to head to bed soon so i'm in a fit state to get up in the am.
febes i hope both dc's a bit better in the am.
younger i had a referral for colorectal for my piles.. i've yet to be able to make it to an appointment yet but i'll have to go at some point.
dandy baby mandarin i didn't even know there were classes for our lo's in our back water i think there's v little chance of anything as exciting!
pula keeping my fingers crossed for a good night.
jael well done you on the oven cleaning. i get ours sorted about once or twice a year.. when i remember to phone the great chap who does it for me
sausage great that you've handed in your notice.. the next chapter is soon to begin
belgina great shopping! and will be looking out for your new boots tomorrow lol.
llare our snow has gone already.. it got washed away by driving rain at dinner time. was saying to muddled our next meet should be closer to her part of the world.. if we do somewhere around Cheltenham it might work for quite a few of us.. and it's only about an hour along the motorway for me.
I braved the bad weather to get the wii this afternoon.. DS and i had a blast with the ten pin bowling. his favourite bit was 'accidentally' bowling into the spectators and making them jump

llareggub · 18/02/2010 22:21

Cheltenham v good for me! It is about an hour or so I'd say.

As for oven cleaning, I don't think I've cleaned ours since it was fitted a year ago.

youngerthanspringtime · 18/02/2010 22:30

no oven cleaning hear either, our fitted nearly a year ago.

OK, feeling tired, am going to have a go at sleeping. might be back on here at 3am. hope not.

night night.

SpangleMaker · 18/02/2010 22:39

Hope all of you going to the meet up manage the early mornings/public transport/ill DCs/snow and have a lovely time. Photos required on FB!

dandy baby Mandarin - get you! Occasionally I have the urge to teach H some anglicised French and Italian but I don't think it will do him any good (unless he wants to ask for beer).

Jael you are putting me to shame with your oven cleaning! I can't actually remember doing mine since before H was born . It's a combi oven/microwave and I feel really when visiting mums ask to use the microwave.

pula sounds like good progress. Fingers crossed for an even better night tonight.

It feels like we've had a really busy day today but all we've done is go to baby sensory in the morning and to the supermarket in the afternoon. Oh, I did the hoovering too . I'll miss the baby sensory classes when H is at nursery - most of the mums & babies have been going since September and it's developed into a little social network. Today we were discussing the lack of consistency amongst HVs. One mum had been advised her 6mo should be having solids 5x per day and only being FF morning and evening, and another was 'told off' for her 8mo DD declining BFs as milk is her source of nutrition and solids are 'just for fun'. I'm so glad I found MN and you lot otherwise I'd be

youngerthanspringtime · 19/02/2010 06:12

morning all.
not too bad, got a good sleep with just a couple of interruptions: dh returning back from pub and waking dd1 and then dd1 waking again 2am to 'move her down the bed' . then I woke up at 530. at least it wasn't the 4am of the night before.

spangle, amazing the different HV views. in ref to the one who says solids 'just for fun', H would be in trouble. she has really declined in her milk intake and bobs on/off during BF. what does that HV want us to do, force them? H has teeth now and knows how to use them when she's finished and just playing around (ouch).

ok, going to send some email then hop into shower. hope you're all well today and meetup in London is a lot of fun. Travel safely!

belgina · 19/02/2010 08:06

Morning all,

younger I'm suffering from the same as you I think. I barely slept last night, because I was fretting about work, ap being alone with C (although I think she'll be fine), the meet up, etc... etc... etc... I tossed and turned until after 2 and woke when dh came home at 5 and that was that. I'm soooo not in a good shape for the meet up. I'll need lots of caffeine to keep me going.

Re the solids confusion. I think the BLW point of view is that solids are just for fun up to 1, but I can't help thinking that although babies are mainly exploring food at this stage, it's definitely not just fun. I feel that they need what they eat. C hasn't really reduced her feeds by all that much. I think she's probably having less milk in the afternoon, but I have noticed this week with her being dragged around everywhere that she can take or leave the solids. On tues she had a milk only day and she slept no worse than days where she does have milk.

spangle I got up especially in the night to charge my camera so I can take some pics at the meet up. (One of the things that kept me awake I suppose)

Right. Better carry on getting ready. I have been prepared though and did most last night.

morning! well G & I are on the train to london signal strength is a bit hit and miss which means i won't be able to MN as much G is looking for her weetabix but she's not getting that today.. i had to wake the poor girl to give her boobs and get her dressed this am.. so no time for breakfast as we left the house at just after 7am. she's fascinated atm looking at the other passengers.. and chatting rather LOUDLY needless to say the carriage is filling up but the seat next to us remains empty lol. Ooo just arrived at Bath Spa.. another place i've not been in years.

Loobylou36 · 19/02/2010 09:57

Hope you all enjoy your meet up

wish I lived closer to any of you.

DH has gone to pick up DSD so I've put M in front of the tv so I can clean/tidy up

FiByTheIcySea · 19/02/2010 10:34

I'm on the bus on my way to meet everyone.. so far so good & G has fallen asleep in the pram..

llareggub · 19/02/2010 10:54

You could make Cheltenham, Loobs?

HeadlessLadyH · 19/02/2010 13:54

You're all meeting up aren't you today??

Hope it all goes well, and don't forget to take snaps of shoes for a guessing game later!

Feeling full of cold here. Smothered myself in vics (vapour rub) last night so prob smell revolting today.

dandy baby mandarin. Surely you jest or it is a London thing?!

pula how was last night?

jael sit down and put your feet up. Immediately. Thats an order. Stop with this ridiculous cleaning business. .

spangle I have avoided HVs since our one and only visit when R was about 3 weeks old for the very reason you cite! MN is a bit like my HV too. i've pretty much got any info or advice required from here or recommedations for books. Hence No cry sleep solution, BLW etc.

Looking forward to seeing pics of the Big Meet!

Hope everyone else having good Fridays too.

FiByTheIcySea · 19/02/2010 14:36
