oops, didn't notice the thread was getting too big!

PMSL at the Burn's night smilies; I thought they were wearing earphones.

not sure I agree with them; as a proud Scot, I hate all that fucking tacky tartan crap that we get labelled with, tartan tammies and fake ginger hair more than most

Yeah Ria - we're being taken on a tour of the old town or something with yummy grub en route

Ohforfoxsake · 02/05/2010 13:18

Blimey! Look at all this tumbleweed

ahh, you know all my news from Facebook.

How are you all?

Riapentatleisure · 02/05/2010 22:32

hi foxy

sounds good jammy

have just completed my first hour of proper study, and had a very jolly email from my tutor. What have I done?

it looks like it is going to rain a bit (understatement) and we're meant to be going to a kite festival tomorrow.

cannot believe I have no chocolate in the house! I am STARVING!!!

justbeme · 02/05/2010 22:43

Hi All!

Have a nice time Jammy!
Im off to Butlins tomorrow for 4 nights - am taking my hospital notes, but hope I don't go into labour there!!

Any advice on what to do with a toddler who is copying her naughty Mummy saying "F* sake". I did the ignoring and then the telling off and now Im back to ignoring - but how long do I ignore for - it's been a few days and it's embarassing when she does it in public!!

Riapentatleisure · 03/05/2010 18:33

oops JBM! Baggins is a bit naughty too. can you make it sound like she is saying something else? (no doubt she'll have a voice as clear as a bell like baggins!) What happens with Butlins if your waters break? Free birthday holiday every year? Have a great time

kite festival good. Bank Holiday teatime = sun over yardarm, back later...

I'm having laser eye surgery tomorrow afternoon. I am a teeny bit absolutely f'ing terrified, but I'm SO excited about being able to throw away the glasses and contacts that I've been wearing since I was 12

Riapentatleisure · 05/05/2010 21:57

good luck fairy. I am not good with eye-related things. BIL had his done 13+ years ago in the hospital in a town near you (just before Dnephew was born actually, DM was quite cross with him!) Dsis used to specialise in eye surgery in Oz... so it's just me that's squeamish here. Do you get a general anaesthetic? Presumably they do one eye at once do they?

am shattered, just having a glass of wine til the ibuprofen kicks in. Decided to cut the grass after tea (curse this needing to be independant to prove I can cope and not rely on my dad), and ended up digging up the lavender (that I killed with over-enthusiastic pruning) and weeding the front flower bed of giant dandelions, nettles and buttercups. It looks a lot better, but it was hard work... (serves me right for putting it off). Have also tidied out the cupboard under the stairs (and packed DH up a load of shredding and stuff to sort out -keep him occupied after Saturday. It is possible to operate a shredder with one arm) Think I will plant some more lavender, but ditch the gravel and leave enough space between the plants for the mower. Would like to put an azalea in the flower bed too, but it is very wet. Any ideas? I think it was my dwarf lilac that hasn't survived

TALLULAHBELLE · 06/05/2010 03:45

Just thought I'd say G'day. Though obviously you're all in bed. Really must see what everyone's been up to, got months to catch up on.

Riapentatleisure · 06/05/2010 13:44

Hi Tbelle. Hope you are all OK

it's really quiet round these parts nowadays

hope it's all going well fairy

BadZelda · 06/05/2010 16:53

Hello all there - got an email roundup from mumsnet, which reminded me that I hadn't come to see how you all were for a looooooong time. Hope all is good! Looks like congrats are in order for Foxy (nice one!) and JBM for a new LO coming? Good luck and hope it goes brilliantly for you. Right: off again - will check back sooner next time. xxz

Riapentatleisure · 06/05/2010 21:50

WTF was the point in all those celebrities consuming alcohol? I think it is amusing that the racist party didn't get any seats. and I didn't have a chuckle about Barking, but I thought that was the wine.

poor bumble

Riapentatleisure · 07/05/2010 13:07

what a silly post!

I missed out BNP, and I did have a chuckle at Barking

tired today, and I didn't stay up that late cos it was so blimmin boring. Why isn't there internet voting?

Riapentatleisure · 07/05/2010 20:23

feeling a bit rubbish tonight. DH came over to eat with the kids again tonight as he is in hospital tomorrow so won't get his afternoon with them. Am feeling really rubbish that he has gone back to his rooms at work and will be going through it on his own (even though that was his choice I think he has changed his mind now, and is just being stubborn, not wanting to look like he is coming back just because of the operation) (and even though I have never been to visit him with him having these operations so far away- the first was in Kendal, and now Leeds. The ironic thing is I should be in Leeds tomorrow anyway for a tutorial at the university!) Anyway, maybe won't be too long now, and once tomorrow is over maybe we can start looking forward, though there are still things to sort out

Riapentatleisure · 07/05/2010 20:25

sorry for self-obsessed misery. Have no-one in RL that I feel comfortable talking to about it (except friends ex-partner, and she has an early-days new relationship, so isn't in contact much any more. But good for her!)

glad to see on FB that bumble has maybe turned a corner fingers crossed.

Jammyrella · 07/05/2010 21:21

DO NOT APOLOGISE RIA!

justbeme · 07/05/2010 21:49

Im Back from Butlins - and thankfully no Bognor baby. But I "suffered" there as now 37 weeks nearly and feeling huge - plus have come back with a cold and poorly throat. L loved it though and made a new little friend - but it would have been so much nicer had it been warm!!

Hi BadZelda and Tallulah - how are things with both of you?? Give us a quick update!

Sorry your feeling down tonight Ria - It must be hard living in "limbo". You want to know whether things are moving in one or the other direction really dont you?? What do YOU want to really happen??

Glad you had a nice time in Spain Jammy and that Bumble is abit better Daisy.

Riapentatleisure · 07/05/2010 23:34

thanks Jammy.

that is exactly it JBM, to know one way or another wouldbe good, then i could deal with it and move on . I think I think it would be good for him to come back, but there's still a lot of ground to cover if/when he does, as some things can't even be addressed until that happens. It's not going to be easy

glad you are back in one piece! I suppose it maybe wouldn't have been exciting to have come home with extra luggage. hope your cold passes quickly.

Riapentatleisure · 08/05/2010 10:21

do any of you cycle? any idea how long it would take to cycle 7 miles?

have a good weekend!

Jammyrella · 08/05/2010 11:10

I'm not a cyclist Ria, but my guess based on knowledge of friends who do cycle and from this would be about 45mins?

LackaDAISYcal · 08/05/2010 18:18

average for me would be 10 miles an hour ria, so 45 mins sounds about right

have a chance to log on for a bit (family watching Dr Who) and needed some advice in children's health. worried that bumble has passed the herpes infection into his eyes now as he is constantly scruibbing at them and still pretty miserable. Debating whether he needs to see the OOH doctor or an optician, or go straight to A&E where he will hopefully be seen by an eye doctor.

Am right royally sick of this

ria, don't apologise; if you can't sound off here, where can you? Sorry things are still up in the air with DH and I hope nthat once his op is over things can start to get worked out. wishing him well for his operation.

lol at the lack of a bognor baby jbm when are you due?

OP posts:
FairyFay · 08/05/2010 20:26

Hi everyone

Ria - don;t be sorry, that is what we're here for

Daisy, no experience I'm afraid but if you are worried why not call the OOH - they'll soon send u to a and e if they are worried.

Eyes all done. Now have 20/20 vision and am thrilled!

justbeme · 08/05/2010 21:49

Glad your eyes are good Fairyfay - must feel like you've had a miracle performed!!

No idea on Bumbles eyes though Daisy. Hope you get it sorted. Am due end of the month - so about 3 weeks or so. But both my other 2 were 11 days overdue.
