I am so blessed to be part of this group. We are starting another year together, our 3rd but who's counting. May you each have a happy and healthy one. I look forward to more meetups, more FBing, more Skyping, more Waving, more crazy tales, more laughter, more hand holding, and more support than is humanly possible! XOX

[eek]

dizzydixies · 08/01/2010 22:51

oh god don't remind me, I've had a shocking day and am glad its Sazz's birthday - hopefully Mr Sazz is buttering her up with oodles of wine and good food so she has confessions of her own [meep]

night all, I've been my usual wonderful self so its time to go and let someone else step up

hotterpotter · 08/01/2010 23:04

Am so tempted to open another bottle of wine but that would be a recipe for disaster so may go to bed soon too

hotterpotter · 08/01/2010 23:22

OK I will take the hint from everyone else having buggered off to go to bed too. Night night all

TwilightSurfer · 09/01/2010 01:45

Ana-staysh-ya or Ana-stayshe-a I think is how I pronounce it. K has a classmate with the name. I like saying it but I've noticed it's often shorten to Ana for class work and class name postings. Maybe it's how I prounce the name but it doesn't flow for me when I add Poppy's name, like I'm calling them both.

Helena is very nice. Makes me think of a strong, well rounded female who is well like and beautiful. This name flows for me much better when saying Poppy's name with it. What middle name would you select to go with Helena?

Not sure what names I would have come up with had I had to do it again.

Well ladies Reese removed her diaper all by herself this evening. The past few days she's been tugging at it after she tinkled. Then earlier today she actually BROUGHT me a fresh diaper to change her. Should I take this as a sign she might be ready to POTTY TRAIN????? She is after all 17 months old.

Off to bed now. Hopefully I will be able to make it to Pilates in the morning. I've not been almost two weeks. I miss it.

Night.

morning all
disappointed i left just before you all arrived for chat last night. i'm not taking it personally at all...nope...not one bit

well, i thoroughly enjoyed my lie-in this morning. DP got up, brought DS into bed with us at 5.30!! (normal rule is not before 6) and I got up once DS got bored

../

oopsandbabycoconut · 09/01/2010 07:02

Morning Miamla - I also got given a baby at 5.30 and DH then rolled over and went back to sleep I managed to amuse her for 45mins until I gave up and DH decided to go back on the lie in deal we made! DD now stuffing her polar bear in the buggy and telling it off sternly about straps.

luckoftheirish · 09/01/2010 07:33

morning ooops and miamla...

dd2 woke up chatting at 6.15.. was hoping she would go back to sleep but nope.. dh also stuck his head under the pillow.. got dd2 at 6.30 only for dd1 to wake up too .. at least dd1 slept in her own bed for once...

i'm not having my 24 hours off .. weather for kent looks really bad and its starting this afternoon so in the grand scheme of things not worth the risk/hassle/worry... dh on the other hand is insisting that he goes as it would be poor form not to.. his brother and wife are also still going ... they have a 12 week old baby but are leaving him with sil's sister... its ok to call family ad say you are stuff in snow.. not so great saying it to a cm who has already told you she does not want to get stuck with your kids ...

anyway enough of my moaning.. hope everyone has a good day xx

sambo303 · 09/01/2010 08:03

Good morning!

CONGRATULATIONS Miamla

dizzydixies · 09/01/2010 09:36

morning

meh

oopsandbabycoconut · 09/01/2010 09:41

meh Dizz? still cold, icy and snowy there?

steaknife · 09/01/2010 09:55

Morning all, managed to get to bed before midnight and just as well as DD had 2 hours of yodelling from 2.30m but then slept till 8 - small mercies and all that.

Right sunshine here so off out for a walk along the beach - been meaning to go the last few days but allowed boring domestic stuff. Today we are in some kind of order and the little carnage there is is easy to ignore.

I have to say that is the great thing about being just 2, no one to tell me off or get in a huff if we go out and leave a mess behind.

Hope you all have great days, better go DD off somewhere ominous with my phone......

CaptainCaveman · 09/01/2010 10:02

Morning . Up at 6.30 here, seems a bit too early for me . O now back to sleep though so am taking a break on mn .

Am looking for a laptop, any recommendations ladies? Anyone an IT guru or has a dh/dp with insider knowledge?

dizzydixies · 09/01/2010 10:09

Morning. I had a great night babysitting for a neighbour, watched some movies and even did some handicrafts - made some Xmas decs from a bit of vintage make-your-own-decs printed fabric my mum dug out. Could probably sell it for £££ on Ebay actually but thought it'd make for a classy Xmas tree next year. This kind of thing but many small ones and more Scandinavian-looking.

Another idea for crafty businesses.

Got invitation for Corfu wedding in May, yippee, which will also be our 10th anniversary (and DD's birthday). Have already sourced flights and lovely budget hotel and we can just about afford it sans enfants. OH I just can't wait, I LOVE all things Greek islandy. Have to get some Gerald Durrell out of the library now in anticipation. Our actual anniversary will be spent in airports, planes and taxis but hey, a change is as good as a rest.

Captain, I have three Toshiba laptops. Before that I was Compaq fan but then Compaq was bought by HP and changed things that I didn't blah blah blah. Brand is really a low point on the scale. Processor is on the other hand HIGH. I've found AMG processors run hot, especially in laptops. This means they'll cut off often for no reason. Look for Intel processors and you'll be set. I'm also a fan of the Dual processor. When I purchased large numbers of computers BACK IN THE DAY I always went with the LESS IS MORE idea. You don't need every bell and whistle. Steer clear for "loaded" computers that sales guys push. Those typically can become unstable (and lock up) because they dump too much on it that isn't totally compatible.

My bottom line:
Intel Dual Processor
Lots of RAM
Finger Friendly Keypad.
Plenty of USB slots.
Memory Stick (digital camera card slot).
WiFi ready
Built in Camera (typically not BEST quality but nice to have when traveling)

It's too early so I've probably forgotten an important bit.

Don't be afraid to just deal with computer sales on the phone. Dell and office supply locations have some very knowledgeable staff in those positions. I've never felt the need to touch a laptop/desktop computer before buying it. When purchasing 30 a week that's a hard thing to do plus technology changes CONSTANTLY. Go with your gut and if you feel a little uncertain, ask about their return policy.

If anyone has an older DD who would like to be friends with mine on Moshi Monsters (online game), FB me. Having dug my head out of the sand I realised that she was making 'friends' with anyone and everyone and after a bit of a tussle, we culled them down from 103 to just 9 that we knew irl. She is undertandably annoyed with me so would like some more 'approved' friends please.
