I would err on the 'frustrated office boy dreams of boy hero shoot em up' rather than cool, but he will be chuffed with cool

miamla · 14/12/2009 21:27

especially coming from a cool chick like me

SazzlesOnASled · 14/12/2009 21:32

But of course

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 14/12/2009 21:36

Night all - bed is calling.

hotterpotter · 14/12/2009 21:39

Oh you guys stop it with your talk of wrapping, I have only just managed to wrap my friend's birthday present and her birthday was 3 weeks ago

Some cards bought though so a bit of progress made, and now I can nip to the supermarket whenever I dare want things should hopefully pick up pace.

Thanks for being nice about my 'crash' apart from meanie sazz luckily there was absolutely no damage apart from to my nerves . Am being brave and going to MIL's in the morning then might try Sainsbos for a bit of variety

SazzlesOnASled · 14/12/2009 21:42

LOL, i tried to redeem myself

Be rest assured, we are only talking about wrapping

We have just bought a lovely chair on ebay for FIL's visit and it will look lovely in the kitchen the rest of the time . For some reason i can't link to a pic but we got it for £80 so v chuffed. DH collecting tomorrow

miamla · 14/12/2009 21:49

actually, I've been really wrapping!

night oops

hotterpotter · 14/12/2009 21:53

Oi Miamla stop being organised

Actually I am sitting here with my myriad of lists trying to work out if I have got something for everyone, and what I still need to buy / make. I'm wondering whether to go with the old trusted rum truffles or be more adventurous with some ganache...probably best left until I have a chance to practice first In fact Oops I'm up for some tiffin recipe too please if you're sharing it, that's easy and yummy isn't it

Yay for lovely bargain chair Sazz

I suppose I ought to think of a festive name now...

HotterTheRedNosedReindeer · 14/12/2009 23:12

How's this then?

Found four un-presented folk on my list, one grown-up and three children, grrr. Luckily my budget is £1-2 each so not too much damage [scrooge]

Right busy day ahead tomorrow and washing to drape on the radiators before bed, so night all

TwilightSleighing · 15/12/2009 01:11

snotexpectingsnow · 15/12/2009 01:43

Sazzles a shame my Grandfather is no longer with us - he was a tank driving instructor in the war!

I can't believe the mother's attitude towards her DS behaviour either. Like No1 I'm constantly on edge in case DS tries to bite again. I was at a friends yesterday and the 2 other Mums were sitting in the lounge having a nice chat whilst I was watching the 3 16 month old boys in friends DS bedroom to ensure that Sam didn't try anything. Was nice and relaxing for me - not! I'm a little bit about this but until it stops I don't want to risk it! That didn't stop friends DS from pushing Sam over in the pool later and her saying 'he doesn't recognise his own strength'

QoD tis a difficult one all I get from MIL when she's with us is 'Well SIL does this with Oliver (DN)"

A lovely walk in the botanic gardens yesterday. DS fed his cracker to the turtles in the lake but when they'd finished that I gave him a biscuit to give them (was the only other thing I had in my bag) but he decided that wasn't for the turtles so ate that himself .

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 15/12/2009 07:36

Morning

DD slept like a log but has decided that 6am is definitely the time to ba awake and chirpy. SO I have done more Christmas cards and got things started for baking later.

My NCT lot were supposed to be coming over for tea nad mince pies on Friday but I have just had an e-mail from one saying it is too far and she can't cope with rush hour traffic can we move it somewhere closer to her Anyone for tiffin? mince pies? florentines? aaarrrrghhhh Why couldn't she have mentioned this when we organised it a month ago!!! I can think of nothing worse than meeting in a cafe in the centre of Bath on the last Friday before Christmas with 7 15month olds and no we can't go to her nice centrally located house as she is too busy with christmas stuff to have us there! Whinge over

Off to make yet more tiffin!

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 15/12/2009 07:46

melt:

200g butter/hard marg (not low-fat, as it won't set)
50g soft brown sugar
6 tbsp cocoa
8 tbsp golden syrup

Then add:

450g crushed digestive biscuits
150g raisins or other dried fruit
100g glace cherries chopped
Mix well.

Press into a greased tin.

Melt 400g milk/plain chocolate, pour on top and smooth over mixture add sprinkles of choice!

steaknife · 15/12/2009 07:50

wotcha oops

great recipe, sadly I just threw away nearly a full packet of stale soggy digis as I realised I was never going to 1 - make the cheesecake or 2 - eat the cheesecake I was saving them for.

Grrr wish I still had them now.

Anyone else got tantrums from the littlies?
Aren't they supposed to start later?

Tell me peoples, am I being a wuss to be slightly scared by DD's puzzle she got from Santa

It gives me the heeby jeebies.
Though obviously completely wowed by the fantastic job the babygroup lady did with the party and getting every child a prezzie and all.

SazzlesOnASled · 15/12/2009 08:04

oops that is out of order. I would literally reply with what you have put in your post above and also mention that you have been baking some Xmas treats and would love to share them with everyone

steaky plenty of tantrums here. Flings herself on the floor and hammers it with her fists

snot too at 'doesn't know own strength'. I think evereyone's automatic reaction is to try and gloss over it as a kind of social nicety. Just doesn't really cut it when it is so repeated and so premediated though IMO

Off to CM and gym shortly and then i must do an inventory of presents like Hots to see who elses i must go and purchase today

QueenofDreams · 15/12/2009 08:49

Morning ladies.
sazzles that is exactly how I feel about it. It wasn't the fact that she gave him the hot chocolate. It just bothered me that when I said he'd had enough she started with this nasty mummy business.
oops at least your DH backs you up. DP just said I was being oversensitive. I'm going to let it go this time, but I'll be seriously annoyed if she does it again.
Argh once Again I've forgotten all I was going to say.
Oh gosh got to dash Sebs eating a block of butter!

miamla · 15/12/2009 09:15

morning
how wrong would it be to spend £30 on books? for me?
i deliberately did some searching for some titles a few weeks ago to give ideas to people but nobody's asked what i want.... so should I? shouldn't I?

miamla · 15/12/2009 09:16

actually, lets me honest about it, i'm going to have ordered them by the time anyone replies anyway!

and those that have been to my house will appreciate that we don't have many books so i need to buy some more

QueenofDreams · 15/12/2009 09:17

Ooh miamla I say go for it! It's never ever wrong to spend money on new books imo

miamla · 15/12/2009 09:30

hmm, so that's one voice on my left shoulder already

my right shoulder is very quiet

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 15/12/2009 09:35

oooorrrder the boooks, ooooder the boooks ooorder the boooks

I would! in fact I am going to then will wrap them and put them under the tree for me from me!

miamla · 15/12/2009 09:52

the left shoulder voices are deafening me!!!

ooh no, they're not going to get wrapped..they're going to get stroked and smelt and looked at way before Christmas!

PoinsettiaBouquets · 15/12/2009 09:56

Aaaaargh just made the effort to write long and personalised post and Squirter comes along and bashes Obiwan Kenobe's ghost on the delete key without me noticing.

Morning all. I used to get upset with my mum feeding DD sweets but now I just go straight in, sit down and read her paper while I can. What goes on in the background is of no interest to me whatsoever. I don't buy sweets so I'm quite happy to let them panhandle for what they can get from other people.

LOL at filthy sex with neighbours, have to say if we were ever going to swing it would have to be them! But that's NOT going to happen thanks ladies.
