Still here, stilll alive. Just.

Drank loads of champers at next door's xmas dribks bash, so will have hangover to contendwith alongside PIL. Deep joy.

i have had a month of children constantly being ill.... no lie in since oct... dh working all the hours and being very scrooge like.. and destroying 2 laptops and three mobile phones ( one in coffee, one the washing machine and one down the toilet ....

HotterTheRedNosedReindeer · 19/12/2009 08:41

Hey Loti it's lovely to see you , sounds like you are making your own version of the Twelve Days of Christmas song, 'Three mobile phones, two laptops and nooo-oo lie-in' I hope you are all feeling better now and nothing else goes wrong

Yes LWFH had her baby Magdalena, a healthy 9lb-odd and they're all fine. Not much else has happened, at least I can't really remember anything, ooh apart from I passed my driving test and am now the proud owner of a beautiful teal coloured Skoda

Feeling OK here, stayed up too late drinking wine and draping fairy lights all over downstairs. Miraculously DS was the first to wake up at 7.50am so not too tired and the house looks fab.

DC moshing in the kitchen to one of DH's Christmas CDs, time for a cup of tea

dizzycringles · 19/12/2009 10:13

oh god am not well

ladies beware - Mr Sazz got me very drunk last night having told me when he was up visiting that champagne doesn't last I decided to ply myself our guests with champers from the moment they walked in until 3am am sooooooooo easily influenced

I haven't had a minute to catch up, D is force feeding me bacon and I've to go to the panto this afternoon [fecking meep]

SazzlesOnASled · 19/12/2009 10:17

Morning - feeling ok here and have packed PIL's off with DH and DD1. DD2 obviously must have a morning sleep so i magnanimously said i would stay behind and miss out on all the fun [martyr]

Red Bless your shepherding DS, he sounds adorable . DD2 has just worked out 'yes', but not in words. Instead she does a fab impression of the Churchill nodding dog, and you have to be careful if holding her that she doesn't headbutt you

QoD I am sure with DP it was just drink talking and he won't have remembered any of it this morning. hopefully you can explain to him over a morning cuppa where you are coming from and not that you are 'having a go'

oops glad Dsis made it safe and sound

hots loving the fairy lights, and sounds like a lovely start to your hols

Loti nice to see you although you sound exhausted by all the illnesses and wakings. Does DH have time off over Xmas? Can you agree a couple of days for you to have some R&R or at least a lie in?

SazzlesOnASled · 19/12/2009 10:20

X-post Dizz

Did i fail to mention never to listen to anything DH tells you? Sorry

Sounds like a great night was had by you all

dizzycringles · 19/12/2009 10:27

twas thank you Sazz, the bottle bank is going to know about it though we'll be getting a reputation at this rate!!

right, have to go and soberup sort myself out before --sufferingthrough- -enjoying the panto with the girls

cyteen · 19/12/2009 10:57

lol at all the drunken mums hots I misread your post as 'crapping fairy lights all over the downstairs' which while an impressive physiological feat would not perhaps have left the house looking fabulous. Think I need my eyes testing again

Hi loti Definitely draw up a lie in contract with your DH, you've earned it.

No night out for us, DS up at 4.30am with yet more revolting runny nappies so we're in no fit state to go all night raving. Both somewhat gutted to miss what will be a great party and so many friends, but hey ho, such is parental life.

SazzlesOnASled · 19/12/2009 11:48

Sorry to hear you don't get to party cyteen. Rotten how these things work out, but no reason why you can't get all your friends together and have a shindig in Jan for Burns night

Have wrapped a few more presents today and the new PJ's for the family for Xmas Eve. I believe now the pile of wrapped pressies is larger than unwrapped so i must be getting somewhere slowly

PIL's due back soon, so taking a deep breath.........later ladies

steakyroastingonanopenfire · 19/12/2009 16:07

Afternoon all, hope all you drunken mums are feeling better and those with wakefull or sicky littlies are having something medicinal with a mince pie.

Santa - I think you will need to put your deliveries out to tender for 2010 as no sign of gift yet. Either post is very slow or the postie is one of those that will be discovered with a three bedroom house full of hoarded un-opened mail.

Had a nice time with Grandpa and looking forward to a quiet night in with Strictly and a bottle glass of wine this evening.

Evening all

Well work was not worth the effort. They always give out free mince pies at the Christmas auction so people would rather scoff (free)crappy mince pies than my cakes and thingies. So sold lots of coffee and bacon rolls but had loads of cake left over which I have handed out to anyone who looks hungry!

DH is now officially on holiday which is fantastic. My sis has decided to stay until MOnday which is great as she had DD most of the day, took her for big walks and played endlessly played piggy in the box. DD now just wants Dess.

back later

DingDongMiamlaOnHigh · 19/12/2009 18:40

evening all
i'm intrigued, oops, what's piggy in the box?!

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 19/12/2009 18:44

Miamla - it is very simple - you have a small stuffed piggy, you put him in the box close the lid say 'where's piggy?' small person opens box and yells 'piggy, box' repeat ad infinitum.

DingDongMiamlaOnHigh · 19/12/2009 18:49

lol, sounds like fun! we've bought DS a jack in a box for christmas so i hope that has the same amount of excitement for him! at least we know now that if it doesn't, we just need a pig and a box!

lwfhthevampireslayer · 19/12/2009 19:06

hello,

Quite tired here. Thank you for all the congratulations.

DD beautiful and a bit quieter than DS was I think. I didn't realise that some babies just lie awake in their cots or chairs ...

DS still completely lovely but suddenly refusing to go into his buggy most of the time and wanting to walk which is slightly complex.

Just talked to TS on skype and she tells me that you sent us a parcel. Thank you so much. I am really touched. I have a parcel waiting for me in customs at the moment. It arrived on Monday but I was quite busy that morning ... I will let you know when DH has collected it.

DD had 24 hours back in hospital with UV therapy. Better than when DS did as I kind of knew what to expect.

DS doing very well without me - mum managed alone here without us for two nights after he had gone to bed.

He is now sleeping 9-10 hours/night usually straight through which is OK and better than before but means either early mornings or late nights. Just seeing what happens.

Mum here ... doing lots of cooking and has helped with some childproofing for when I am on my own with the two and for example DD is BFing.

PS oops I think that piggy in the box will work with any box and the pig is not necessarily needed ... but unfortunately it only entertains DS for a few minutes tops, not hours on end. Maybe what I am missing is a small stuffed piggy ... hmmm.

DingDongMiamlaOnHigh · 19/12/2009 19:11

sounds like you're doing a great job lwfh

DingDongMiamlaOnHigh · 19/12/2009 19:12

oh and as for the parcel... you're very welcome! we had lots of fun choosing what was going in it!

lwfhthevampireslayer · 19/12/2009 19:17

yum, have just eaten a mince pie empanada as mum bought a jar of mincemeat with her from the UK. Yum.

Chucking it down with rain. DH has taken DS out in the car for a nap.

PS does anyone have a knitting pattern for a sleeveless cardigan with a hood for a baby?

DingDongMiamlaOnHigh · 19/12/2009 19:32

you could just knit a sleeved one and not sew the sleeves on

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 19/12/2009 20:01

LWFH - good to see you are getting on well with the 2 LOs but sorry to hear DD was taken back in though. Hope you enjoy your parcel we had great fun choosing it and putting it together.

I have just made awesome porchini mushroom rissotto and roasted chook thighs. We are watching 'A Child's Christmasses in Wales' which is a hilarious reminder of the 80's.

TwilightSleighing · 19/12/2009 20:30

Hello. Looks like I'm not the only oldtimer finding her way back to MN today. Hi Lucky.

Very busy in the Twilight house so no time to read AND post. Hopefully the winter break will change that completely.

Who was it quoting Eliot's Wasteland a ways back. I can quote the last line by heart.

I will admit it was Longway popping on Skype earlier that prompted me back here. I love all these connection tools. Like my shout out to Miamla last night after enjoying a lovely bowl of Lucky Charms.

Oops I love "piggy-in-the-box". We play that and a few other games that are VERY similar. LOL! And Miamla, Reese absolutely LOVES her jack-n-the-box. I still have to put the little dude back in but she's got the rest down pat.

(((hugs))) and well wishes all around.

DingDongMiamlaOnHigh · 19/12/2009 20:35

lots of lovely well wishes right back at ya TS!

SazzlesOnASled · 19/12/2009 22:22

Evening

Sounds like you are doing brilliantly LWFH . How is DD with BF? Sorry to hear you have been back to hospital, but as you say once you know what is happening it is not so daunting

Everyone else has gone to bed hurrah, so i am going to sit a while, nurse my glass of wine and enjoy the silence in front of the fire

PIL's have actually been really good, despite a few moments regarding the central heating, size of tea cups and talk of PIL boob fetish it is all going remarkably well . We opened pressies today and rather than a big pile of tat (as has been the case in previous years) we all got money/vouchers and one nicely chosen little present. Was lovely . DD1 has gone to bed with her present of a bag in the shape of a lamb, which also had to watch her have a bath and have a hair dry

VG loving the idea of a thread party with glamming up with new lipgloss. I have patio doors a window in my diary every night bar Mon [saddo]
