Q pulls my hair recently. But he isn't trying to pull it. It tries to brush it with his hairbrush and "feel" it with his fingers, but ends up tangling it up!

He has started hitting sometimes when he's not getting his own way and we have picked him up to remove him from the stuation. We say a firm "no" and hold his hands, then move on quickly. He stops right away and it's getting to be less and less that he does it now.

How long are you up north for, pistachio?

aubergenie · 22/12/2009 20:30

I'm also feeling a bit worried about our drive to East Anglia Pistachio. I'm imagining (perhaps wrongly?) that you're a bit more used to dealing with snow up there, and that things tend to be a bit more organised?

We haven't reached that phase yet CSWS. S does think it's funny to pull my hair sometimes, but only usually when I'm changing his nappy.

I'm SO cold! We contemplated getting carpet earlier this year but decided it probably wasn't worth it as we won't be here for that long. I'm really regretting that decision at the moment!

aubergenie · 22/12/2009 20:31

What are Christmas muffins? They sound nice.

50ftChristmasTree · 22/12/2009 20:37

They are a Nigella thing Aubergenie. They have cranberries and orange in them. Yummy!

Oh, are they in the Domestic Goddess book 50ft? I think I might have seen them.

I'm fancying a bit of baking tomorrow. I made some cheesy biscuits the other day, supposedly for S, but I ended up snaffling most of them myself they were delicious.

Did you say you were going up north tomorrow Pistachio?

CSWS - Ocado only arrived 1 hour late (and refunded our delivery charge) and you may have seen on the news our bad weather mentioned (near Basingstoke and Reading) so I think they did pretty well. Oh and ds is very into pulling dd's hair - he has worked out that he can't compete on the pushing/hitting front but he can reduce her to a screaming heap if he pulls her hair

Pepper, poor you - our childminder had a similar experience to you, except her car broke down and she had to wait for the AA, then after it was fixed it took her 3 hours to drive from Kings Road to Elvetham Heath . I'm in shock about your experience at the school thing, I can't believe that other parent treated you like that...

I must go to bed, dd is currently going through a phase of being really sensitive to noise and woke 3 times last night and the last time it took over 2 hours to settle her, so we're all a little tired today. Ds didn't have a feed in the middle of the night - he just went back to sleep in my arms when I picked him up. So he may be dropping his last feed

Honeymoonmummy · 22/12/2009 23:13

Hi all,

God you lot put me to shame with all your cooking and running! I wish I could cook but I just don't know where to start and don't seem to have the time. I just can't see how I can cook the same meal for the 3 of us when DH and I are on a diet.

I've done my Christmas shop and managed to spend only £80!!! We're having a day off the diet on Xmas day. I've decided to drink on Xmas day too and Pops can have cows milk for her final feed for one day.

I've finally finished sorting through Poppy's photos (now on FB) up to her first birthday, so I can burn them all for grandparents now.

Pops and I also did Happy Christmas paper plate decorating yesterday for grandparents I love doing crafty things with her. She loves stickers.

She's in nursery for another settling-in session tomorrow 9.30 to 1.30 so we can finish tidying the house ready for Xmas day. We never use our downstairs loo but thought it'd be easier for everyone so that's had a thorough spring-clean.

Honeymoonmummy · 22/12/2009 23:30

Dammit, I always get on this thread too late

Honeymoonmummy · 22/12/2009 23:38

Oh and the FB photos include one of Poppy's home-made piggy birthday cake!

Morning all, we finally got our car back last night, DH rescued it, our road is still sheet ice - I am really dreading driving to North Devon tomorrow. I have NO IDEA how we will fit everything in the car for a start!
DD has been soooo poorly as well. I started her on the antibiotics yesterday. But she was so hot at about midnight I had to strip her to her nappy again - she was clawing at her vest to get it off . Then of course I was terrified she'd freeze in our 14 degree house! Not a good night.
Today she's very very marginally perkier, she's on the floor clinging to my leg as opposed to on my lap!
myjob - yay for N walking! J still can't - is she last? (not really bothered BTW if she is!)
ekka - fingers crossed you get some christmas chocolate.
And for what it's worth - I think all diets should be banned on Christmas Day!
HMM - I do no cooking or exercise either. None. Some days I don't even have time to brush my hair let alone run.... though I do feed the DCs obviously!

pepperrabbit · 23/12/2009 12:28

They're forecasting heavy rain for this afternoon here that should sit nicely on the compacted ice..... (soft southerner emoticon )

HOW did my post get deleted????
Well, I replied to everyone. I'll have eto do it again later.

Anyway, what does a christingle service mean?

We live next door to a church and the vicar lives in a house next door. They've given us a christmas card and asked us to come along to the christingle service tomorrow at 4pm with Q. That sound like something DH could handle... DH loves singing christmas songs with candles.

StarExpat · 23/12/2009 14:30

We're not religious, don't attend church...etc., however I did growing up and my family is christian. One thing I love and have fond memories of is my church's christmas eve service. Candles all held by all of us and lit off from the one big Advent candle, singing songs....etc. It was beautiful. When we first started dating I always asked DH to go to that with me. My mom's bday is on the 20th, just remembering her at the holidays...etc. very sad and this lifted my spirits somehow...b ut he refused to go as it was a "church" event... the past 3 years at christmas time he's wanted to go to a caroling service at a church - started when we were snowboarding in Austria just before Q was conceived!!

50ftChristmasTree · 23/12/2009 15:12

Being of Catholic origins I don't know what Christingle is either Star. When I was young there was a Christmas Eve service especially for children which counted as Christmas service so you didn't have to interrupt Christmas for boring church. I think Christingle almost sounds a bit rude.

Pepper - There is no way I am dieting on Christmas Day, never not as long as I have breath in my body. Hopefully they should be prepared for icy conditions by now, they can hardly say it was a surprise if it is icy tonight. Have a safe journey. And I'm very glad J is on the mend. Hope her nappies aren't too yucky, M's have been horrible because of the ABs I'm on. Yuck.

Aubergenie - I think they are, I found the recipe on-line as I fancied making something yummy for the DC's breakfast. I am going to make them tonight. I'd prefer to make them on Christmas morning but our oven is broken, in a very strange way.

Hmm - Yes, you are always too late. Well done on keeping your christmas shopping bill down.

M surprised us with a new skill today, well, I say skill. We were watching Pepper Pig and ds & I were singing the theme tune. When it got to the oink bit, M joined in with the oinking. Now if we sing "Pepper Pig" she says oink. It's very cute. The new biting habit is less cute though.

Myjob - Yay N! That's fabulous progress. Probably best not to run today.

Ekka - Hope you do get some Christmas chocolate.

CSWS - So the Discovery eh? Does it fit three car seats across the back?

Ooops, missed your post Star. Sorry if my jokey one sounded insensitive. It is indeed a lovely way to remember your Mum.
