Hi Muddled, Poor you. Just popped on for a read but couldn't not post - when A had suspected norovirus a couple of weeks ago the advice I got was to bf bf bf and nothing else, esp just after a vomit as stomach is empty so some of the milk is most likely to be absorbed. Obviously am no medical expert but this was the advice we got from our GP. I fed A 2-hourly, even through the night, twas exhausting.

runningdonkey · 06/12/2009 19:20

Should add, A was mix fed at the time and had just started solids so for 48 hours we binned off the formula and food and she just had bf.

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 06/12/2009 19:32

muddled sorry to hear about the vomiting. when ds got a vomiting bug as a baby we were told to water down his formula to make it easier on his tummy and build it back up to full strength slowly. bf is different though.. i would think fore milk very thirst quenching and hind great energy stuff.

i still feel rubbish and i think i'm pretty sure ds now has conjunctavitus

really want to put our tree up but just have no energy..

Mominohoho · 06/12/2009 20:15

hi all. hope everyone's having a good weekend.
will be hard to namecheck as I'm only on quickly: we're trying to have our supper by 9pm tonight!

looby, so sorry about nanny Rose .

jinglebelg, the man who tiled our kitchen is dutch and told them about St Nic's day so DD's put out their shoes and got choc coins! I couldn't explain the custom to them but meant to google.

Pula, glad you got the 2nd pair of Uggs. defn worth it!

febes, you resigning? lucky you (though the decision is tough)! best wishes on getting the letter out.

periods, I had a bit of a dull pain in my lower left side a couple of weeks ago that lasted a couple of days. assumed it was ovulation? can we ovulate and not have a period? I get this pain every month even without a period.

TTC. can't imagine another at this point but am broody as heck. so sad we won't have another but it's definitely the right decision. i'm too old and my body couldn't handle a 4 th pregnancy in 4 years .

oh... gotta go. won't even have time for FB, farming, etc. will catch up properly tomorrow.

dd's are at inlaws so we're a 1 child family for the next 2 days. it's quiet but lovely in a different way as H is getting all our attention. she's loving it!

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 06/12/2009 21:00

momino it must be lovely to have h to yourselves but ikwym about also feeling weird with the other 2 away..

periods etc.. still no sign here yet of anything.. libido included

i'm stuck on phone again.. dh on laptop.

Mominohoho · 06/12/2009 21:00

just had a bath and feel human now.
we still haven't eaten and it's 9pm. and we only have one child today .

muddled, hope vomiting has subsided.

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 06/12/2009 21:11

x post momino.. a relaxing bath sans dc's.. what a treat

llareggub · 06/12/2009 21:18

Muddled definitely carry on breastfeeding. My GP told me to make sure that DS had plenty of breastmilk when we had the vomiting thing.

We had a scare earlier. Our house is freezing at the moment downstairs so I'm wearing my big furry slippers. I tripped going up the stairs and fell onto them carrying DS2. I was in tears, so was he but we are fine. Typically DH was at the Mill working so I had to calm myself down.

essenceofSES · 06/12/2009 21:24

Hello!

Llare - having a fall on the stairs is one of my daily fears. Must have been v scary but hope you're both ok now.

Muddled - I agree, keep BF!

Momi - Don't know when I last had a bath! How lovely! Enjoy your meal too.

Fi - sorry you still feel rubbish. Hope you manage to get a good night tonight and feel better tomorrow.

Hoping the chimney sweep will appear again tomorrow and not get delayed on another job like last week. Would be nice to have a fire for Christmas.

OP posts:
flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 06/12/2009 21:30

muddled - I would say carry on BF, I'm sure that breast milk counts as a 'clear fluid' so is ok.

looby - so sorry to hear your news, think of you all.

llaregub - how scary and shocking for you. Hope you are feeling ok now.

Distinct lack of periods and libido here too. Managed 13 months off last time, shall I see if I can beat that this time?! TTC - no way right now! One of my closest friends has 14 months between her two .

Nothing much happening here today, DD1 has been slightly ill. Not properly ill, but ill enough to be not right iyswim, so she's been clingy and cuddly all day (with DH mostly, not me) and she had a sleep this afternoon which is very rare now. A has been fine though, she is such a happy baby.

I chose my Christmas present from DH this morning - a new waterproof coat! It was quite expensive originally, but was in the sale, and then the woman who was helping me find one gave me a 25% off voucher which reduced it loads. The voucher was hers, they're able to give them to friends and family apparently but for some reason she decided to give it to me, it was a really nice surprise! And my jacket is fab, it's the best one I've ever had but I walk miles with the pushchair every week as I don't drive.

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 06/12/2009 22:03

just lost my post grrr

llare glad you're both ok.. so scary. i had a stumble up stairs with G and it gave me such a fright i had to have a good cry..

Jinglebelgina · 06/12/2009 22:18

Evening everyone,

I wrote a nice long post over an hour ago and then I lost it because MN decided to do some maintenance work. How annoying...

In short I also said that muddled should carry on bf.

momi How nice of the tiler to think of your los for St Nic. To just tell you a little: He is supposed to come from spain in his steam boat and his arrival is a big thing on telly every year. He also arrived on a little yacht in our village too. He has got a helper called 'Zwarte Piet' (black Pete). It wouldn't be very PC nowadays to come up with such a character, but he's been around for centuries now, so... Wikipedia's entry is quite good and it's got some nice pics if the "Good Saint" too.

llare Glad you're OK after your fall. I slipped yesterday on some leaves on the path with C in my sling I grazed my hands and knees. She was unfazed, but I shook for ages after. Not sure how it would have ended if she'd just been in my arms.

pula Enjoy your new Uggs!

fi Hope you're feeling better soon.

Mini rant coming now. DH has worked hard all day so he treated himself to a drink tonight, which is fine. At 9.30 he decided that it was bedtime, also fine. But then he went into the bedroom and decided to try and use the baby monitor as a walkie talkie to ask me to bring up some water after a not very gentle entry into the bedroom. As a result C woke up of course. Then he tried to get her back to sleep by singing to her, which is something I never do and I just know wont work (especially with dh's singing, lol). So it took me 30 min to get her back to sleep. TBH I fed her in the end, because it had been nearly 4h since her bedtime feed and I think just waking might have made her a bit peckish. Anyway, grrr @ my DH!

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 06/12/2009 22:32

I knew there was something I'd forgotten! pula - glad you've got new, proper Uggs, and hope the other ones get sorted quickly. What a faff though.

DH has gone to bed, I'm sat here eating chocolate ! Just finishing the Christmas shopping. I've also managed to do most of the parcels that need to go overseas, just PILs to sort.

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 06/12/2009 22:36

oh, and belgina - grr at your DH. Mine quite often wonders why A is a bit grumpy...then when I pick her up she's pooed. Selective sense of smell!

Mominohoho · 07/12/2009 08:07

good morning! what a luxury: rolled out of bed at 7, got my coffee (DH already to work), picked up H who was just laying in the cot waiting, now feeding her and on laptop. no other DDs to worry about, no nursery run, no appts. i'm enjoying this.

admittedly, i've got a busy week of christmas shopping, card writing/sending and most importantly, planning dd1's bday party for sat. 20 children (it's a joint party)!

flippin, you must feel relieved/accomplished to finish your shopping! i have a few more things to get for my usa parcels.

llare, so glad you're ok! falling down the stairs is a nightmare of mine as well.

jinglebelg, thanks for the info on st nick's eve. had a good read of the wiki entry (celebrated in my homestate as well - cinncinati, Ohio!). oh, and at your dh using monitor bugt at waking C.

sleep, H has been a bit stuffy and all 3 DDs have coughs. as a result sleep has been very broken the past few days. last night was great though since dd1&2 are at inlaws so no interruption from them. Harper slept all the way through till ? and was happy when I went to her at 730. so I'm happy this morning .

have too many things on my to-do list so better get going. hope everyone else is well today.

Mominohoho · 07/12/2009 08:08

that's but, not bugt for jinglebelg

Loobylou36 · 07/12/2009 10:21

morning all

well M had her first night in her new room last night, she was so tired she nodded off sat on me infront of the tv at 6.15pm so I put her down in her cot, she woke at 9.15pm for a feed after which I put her down awake and sat in the corner of her room for 10mins so she could see me, then I left the room but left the door ajar slightly so she could see the landing light within 10mins she was asleep again. She then slept 10pm-5am had a 20min feed then slept till 8am! Yay

Unfortunately I couldn't sleep thanks to DH (alcohol induced) snoring

Have managed to borrow a black tie for DH for the funeral on friday, just got to get him a new shirt, hope the new BF top I've ordered will arrive in time as it would be perfect to wear

runningdonkey · 07/12/2009 10:40

Morning everyone,

momi what a lovely sounding morning. I love it when A is awake and happy just lying in her cot, she always looks so pleased to see us when we go in to her Hope you have a nice quiet and productive week.

Loobs sorry to hear about your DH's Nan. Hope the funeral goes smoothly. Good to hear about M's first night in her room, hope the good nights continue.

llare I constantly worry about tripping on the stairs. Glad neither of you were physically hurt. Hope you have recovered.

Belg grrr at your DH. I must admit to using ours as an intercom but only for comedy purposes when I can hear DH and A having fun! Apparently A always looks v confused when she can hear my voice but not see me

pula glad you like your new and correct boots, have been eyeing some up as they look so comfy. What do you wear yours with?

flip I also have a DH with a selective nose!

I've had a productive morning despite A deciding that 4.40 was get up time she's now been asleep since about 9.30 so I've done the sainsbos shop and finished the Christmas shopping online. Now I've just got some wrapping to do... in a bid to be a bit eco-friendly I am thinking of using old newspaper this year and just spending money on nice ribbon, do you think thats a bit tight?

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 07/12/2009 12:39

well we're all back from the doctors.. dh has bronchitis, ds conjunctavitus, my chest is clear but as we're all coughing bar G the doc thinks we all have a touch of dh's germs.. so dh is now signed off till tuesday next wk and ds is off pre school until his eyes clear up.

when i've got the laptop on later i'll do a proper catch up...

Mominohoho · 07/12/2009 12:52

ah, Fi, what a time! hope you're all better soon.

muddleddaizy · 07/12/2009 13:10

Oh Fi you poor things. Hope you all get better soon.

Thanks for the breastfeeding advice. Ds2 is better this morning. He's only puked once, but now the other end has started! Ds1 is off nursery with his dodgy stomach. Now I've got it and feel rough I've asked dh to come home from work but apparently some crisis has come up! I tried to lie down earlier but ds1 kept practicing his wrestling moves on me

Oo oo breaking news dh is on his way home Sorry about the mememe post...

Mominohoho · 07/12/2009 13:18

muddled, sorry you've now got it but glad you're DH is on his way back. hope you can get some rest then.

better you're ill now than at christmas (if there is any bright side... ).

running, i think the ribbon/newspaper idea is lovely. we usually use brown paper and red ribbon. haven't bought any wrapping things yet.

Crimbooldcaaaaaaaa · 07/12/2009 16:20

basks in glow of getting mother to do Christmas shopping for her>

Just back from taking the dog to my friend who will look after her for a couple of months, rather than kennels. She has 5 dogs, 5 cats and 5 horses and my dog had the best time and didn't want to come home . I think she'll be fine, it's a huge weight off my mind

muddle sorry to hear you're all ill, I hope the Wellness Fairy visits soon.

fi so scary about the stairs, another who fears it here. I hope the Wellness Fairy stops by yours too (and any other ill houses)

loobs Hope M has another good night!

Hello everyone else!!

Jinglebelgina · 07/12/2009 17:47

Hi everyone,

DH has just left for an overnight job, ds is in youth club. C is happily bashing the new toy phone St Nic brought (her 1st electronic flashing light button pressint toy) and dd1 is hiding somewhere. So thought I'd do a quick post before doing the dishes.

fi muddled Hope you and your dcs are all well soon.

crimbo glad to hear your dog will be happy. Now you can leave with peace of mind

looby Hurrah for the new successful bedtime routine

Our nights are getting worse, but it definitely doesn't help that I end up falling asleep with her when I intend to put her back in her cot. I'm also pretty sure she's teething again (it's the top outer incisor IYKWIM)

I had a fairly unproductive day today. Going to the osteo and back took about 3h out of my day and the other hours were spent either trying to get C to nap or playing with C. She's quite funny, because if I kiss her tummy when she's sitting up she attacks my face by slobbering all over it. That made me laugh which in turn had her in stitches too. She also thinks dd1's new 'Fureal' toys are very funny, lol.

Right gotta go and rescue C from her tummy. My newest strategy is to encourage her to roll over when she lands on her tummy and hopefully she'll think about it herself in time, rather than getting frustrated and crying

Jinglebelgina · 07/12/2009 17:48

Oh, forgot to say: momi enjoy your baby only week It must be so quiet.
