Morning all,

for some reason A decided that this morning should start at 4.30am so am currently hunting for some matchsticks for my eyes.

Hope everyone is ok, haven't had chance to read much as well as post and run the other day as DH is off and we've been busy trying to sort out childcare visiting cm's and nursery. Thankfully we think its sorted, met a lovely lady last week and DH really liked her as well. Hopefully this one will want to take us on this time!

Welcome home grumps hope you are enjoying some lovely warmth and Christmas celebrations with your family.

flippin I can't remember where you are but hope if you decided to go, that you arrived without too much delay.

momi, febes and llare and anyone else baking/making homemade gifts. I am v impressed!

Jael sorry you are feeling so grrr at your parents. stick to what you want to do and enjoy your Christmas with your two beautiful DC's. I am sure that they won't notice a few less pressies on the day itself.

Was wondering, has anyone heard from dandy she hasn't been on in a while. Was thinking of her the other day.

Hope all those poorly lo's are feeling better sorry if I've missed anyone!

We're off to the IL's this pm so I'll be on on my phone from now on - three days of IL's I'll probably need a little venting

Happy Christmas everyone x

Reggiee · 23/12/2009 09:15

Just a quick one to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and hope Santa brings you what you wish for (a full night's sleep? ).

Those of you with places to travel to, go carefully out there, and I hope you get to your destination without too much trouble.

We're heading off to York tomorrow to spend Xmas as usual with in laws (watch out Momi and Grumpy ). Always a fab time there as we are spoilt, in laws give us a lie in, and there is always too much alcohol.

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 23/12/2009 09:33

hiya running & reggie
safe journeys and have a lovely time at the IL's

ooo ooo ooo proud mummy alert! G has now pulled herself into a sitting position all on her own
surprisingly DS is still asleep after his 4am night time playing session.. to be expected though i suppose as it was the 4th? 5th? in a row..
Reggiee · 23/12/2009 09:34

Running boo to 4.30am

Hi Fi Muddled well done to ds2 for clapping . I keep hoping B will wave soon but I think he just gets excited and bounces everything including his arms up and down energetically.

Momi go and sit yourself down. You wear me out reading everything you accomplish in a day .

Pula glad S is on the mend. Very at 3 hour nap!

Jael sorry to hear you are being taken for granted by your parents. Have you told them calmly how you feel? You will have a fab Xmas day with the lo's regardless.

Looby I' really looking forward to Xmas mainly because dd (almost 3) is v excited. Are you not looking forward to it?

Llare please can I have some of your biscuits. Nom nom!

Hi Belgina. Am amazed at the amount you can express . Super boobs . Hope C feed better today.

Febes don't know why but "Brandy Balls" made me lol. Ahem. I presume they are truffle type things rather than anything...ahem...sexual....

Headless hope the last day at nursery goes well. And no tears (from you) .

Ses what a great Xmas present - all this night sleeping! Well done O!

Spangle hmmm...my dh used to have a habit of doing that. One day I totally lost it which is a bit out of character, so he went out and purchased me a spa day and now always checks with me (mostly) before swanning off. These men need training!

Hi Reebee. Glad to see someone else struggles to keep up with this thread!!

Reggiee · 23/12/2009 09:41

X posts fi. Getting into a sitting position makes me laugh. B can't do it, but he doesn't have strain in a desperate attempt to sit up. He obviously has his mother's stomach muscles!

After my bold assertion on my last post (a week ago) that B wouldn't get his top teeth for ages, needless to say, he now has one through and another should be her within the week (although daredn't put a time scale on it).

Today is a day. It's the last day B and I have together before he starts nursery. Dh off work from tomorrow until the New Year, when B starts. B had his first hour at nursery and loved staring at everyone! Have very mixed feelings as I know he'll enjoy it, and I'll enjoy getting back to the old routine. However, I have so, so enjoyed my maternity leave this time (was much different first time round).

Right better sign off now. Things to sort for tomorrow whilst the little man is asleep.

Happy Christmas

Mominohoho · 23/12/2009 10:02

reggiee, when are you here in York? do feel free to text me if you want to meet. i'll have to check your FB name and message you with my no. if you don't have it.

Muddled, how old is your ds who's waking? my dd1 (4) has been waking for a few months but is getting better since last week, now it's dd2 (2) who's waking up consistently. last night it was just 2x and i just cuddled her till she calmed down then put her to back in bed. annoying but much better than 10x the past few days where I've been evilly shouting at them at 3am. well done to DS2 for clapping!

well done also to Fi's G for pulling up to sitting. wow!

running, I've also wondered about Dandy. hope she's ok.

will be back on later to catch up with anyone else.

all those travelling today, the next few days, be careful. to those going offline, Happy Christmas.

HarktheHeadlessAngelsSing · 23/12/2009 12:46

Hiya,
I think this may be the last time I'm on for a while what with ILs arriving tomorrow. There is much cleaning to be done.

running I've been in touch with dandy. She's ok but sounds like she is pretty busy at the moment. I'm sure she will be pop back in soon. Haven't seen sausage for a while either.

Hope you get your childcare finalised. This last one sounds promising.

muddled your DS's ulcers sounds awful. Poor thing. Has there been a change or anything that would make him unsettled? Hope he feels better soon.

Took DS1 into nursery this morning. I really wanted to see his key worker who has been with him on and off for his time there, but she wasn't there. I'm not going to pick him up tonight. I couldn't bear it, and I am still a bit about the mess up with R. Obviously I'll not be leaving him there - DH is picking him up!!

If I don't make it back before Boxing Day,

MERRY XMAS EVERYONE!!!!

(although I may sneak on to give you IL updates!!!)

Febesisachristmascracker · 23/12/2009 13:38

Also on here to say Merry Christmas and bye for now as we are heading away tomorrow morning up to Derby. Got to pack and get organised this afternoon.

See you all next week.

pulacracker · 23/12/2009 14:27

Thanks for all the kindness re. my stupidity and my new top. I am still upset about it, and am tempted just to buy a replacement as i really liked it. It was actually my christmas present from my mum - I chose it, she didn't have any wrapping paper left when i took it over on Saturday to show her, so I decided to wear it to church on Sunday as I was asked to carry the advent candle in with DD and DS1 so I wanted to look nice. Boo hoo.

Sounds like a lot of you are busy travelling over Christmas or having house guests. I will be here, although my parents should be coming on 27 Dec for DDs birthday and staying overnight.

After taking DS2 to the docs on Monday, we're taking DD later, as she has had a temperature for 3 days so we're a bit concerned, although she isn't complaining of any aches or pains .

llareggub · 23/12/2009 15:12

Have a lovely christmas everybody. We are supposed to be going away but DH has just had a massive order which needs to be delivered by next Wednesday so it looks like we may be sticking around for the whole break. Grr. But can't refuse work! Trouble is, I've done the shopping and now have no food in for after christmas so will need to venture out.

Jael · 23/12/2009 15:14

Just an update, mother made "a special effort" to wrap the DC's presents last night, and DP drove there at 11pm to pick them up I wern't having them miss out...anyways, I've had a lovely morning with DD, I went to town and treated myself and had my nails done and were off out soon to take the DC to the cinema to watch a christmassy film DP and Next door neighbour have been in the garden for 3 hours building DD's main present from MIL and FIL, a giant wooden playhouse!!! So it's all go in our house. I'll say Merry Christmas! to everyone now, as I won't be on tomorrow, I'll be making pastry, doing batches of mince pies, visiting a couple of friends and going to church.

Hope everyone has a lovely day! Safe journey to all those travelling!

Jael X

sausagewrappedinbacon · 23/12/2009 15:23

Bonjour, bonjour - nice to be missed

Apols for not being on here in a while... life is a rollercoaster, as our Ronan would say. I have finally got M into a routine, and she is nearly sleeping through. Well, she pretty much is apart from a wawawa around 4ish every now and again. Weaning is hell - one of the reasons I haven't been on here in a while as everyone seemed to be doing so well, and I was getting so bloody DOWN about it, and M just would NOT let a spoon in her mouth, or put anything in there offered to her on her bumbo tray thingy. Now at least we are on 3 meals a day, but she will NOT NOT NOT take water or (very) diluted juice in a cup OR a bottle. The tantrums! Any top tips gratefully received. Bah.

I think the PND is back again (thought it went, but it must have been hibernating for a bit) so I need to go and see my GP again really. Poo. Not helped by the fact that I got my MRI results on my gammy hip, which is basically sha$$ed out and worn and knackered, and I may need major pelvic and hip reconstructive surgery in the new year. Yay! Also not heard the PhD proposal results yet... I hear after the 14th Jan... (any fb mates would know, tho, soz)

Dandy and I managed to meet up for a fabulous chinese around a month or so ago - yep, she's busy, but fine.

Sorry if I managed to miss the Cribbs Causeway meet up - I haven't been down to my parents in ages - but would love to when things have calmed down in a bit in January.

Sorry (again, zz) I have missed everything over the last few weeks or so - but welcome back Grumpy....

If I don't make it back again, here's to a fantastic Christmas and new year for you all
xx

Loobylou36 · 23/12/2009 15:31

wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

sorry to be negative about xmas reggie have been a bit depressed lately (probs with mum)

going out tonight to DH's works 'Do' not sure I really want to go but have bought myself a new (non BF!) top and will be wearing a black lacy underwired bra with it so hope it will make me feel a bit more confident and less frumpy

HarktheHeadlessAngelsSing · 23/12/2009 16:11

House is clean! Yay. Hoovering done, sufaces gleaming. All ready for tomorrow. So just time to pop back on.

saus spooky. There was me just saying we'd not seen you for a while. Sorry to hear your PND may be making a reappearance. Could it be related to the weaning as it sounds as though you are a wee bit stressed about it? I remember crying frequently with DS1 who also refused to let a spoon into his mouth for weeks. Made worse when I had made all these home made purees. Why wasn't he wolfing down all this wonderful food I had lovingly prepared for him? So I feel your pain. Have you tried finger food with M? Try roasting carrot, squash and parsnip. Easy to hold and sqaush into their mouths. And ouch about your hip.

looby have a nice evening, put your troubles to one side, and have a good time.

llare good luck with the shopping. Don't envy you that.

Having said I wouldnt be on, there I am posting no more than 3 hours later. So I'll bid adieu to you all and see you in about another 3 hours

muddleddaizy · 23/12/2009 17:22

Saus Welcome back. Don't worry you haven't missed anything - Cribbs meet hasn't happened yet. Maybe we can commiserate on dodgy hips. I saw my consultant a couple of weeks ago and I will need a hip replacement at some point in the future, for now I just have to put up with the pain. Also sorry about your PND coming back.

I really need to make an effort to wake ds1 up and give him his tea - it won't be pleasant!!

Hopefully be back later...

essenceofSES · 23/12/2009 21:43

Hello!

Headless - well done on the cleaning!
I think I'd have done the same as you and not gone to do the nursery pick up today.

Looby - hope you enjoy your DH's work do tonight

saus - good to see you! Please don't get down about weaning. Every baby takes to it differently and it is v rarely an instantaneous transition to 3 good meals a day. My HV was v clear on this and that the aim is to get them eating 3 meals with us by the time they are 12 months.
Sorry about your hip - must be v frustrating.

Jael - glad DD is improving and that you got the presents from you mum.

Llare - great that you've got an order but shame about the timing! Hope you manage to survive the shops tomorrow. I only just did today!

Pula - I'd be v tempted to go and buy another top in that situation....

muddled - your poor DS with the ulcers. Hope they clear up quickly.

Hello to anyone else I've missed and hope all journeys go ok.

DH was kind enough to offer to take my mum to Tesco today as we were going too. BIG mistake! She took so long! She had to fully inspect every pack she picked up and then choose at least another 2 to pick up and inspect before finally putting something in the trolley. It took for ever!!!
Anyway, I think all my shopping is done now Just all the presents to wrap

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 23/12/2009 22:57

well i'm cracking on with finishing G's
IT'S NEARLY CHRISTMAS!
sorry for shouting but just getting a bit excited

xmas stocking.. I think i'll have finished all the crochet tonight & will just have the name/motif bit left to embroider tomorrow
prepare to cringe & wince.. my sore nips were still sore and had gone shiny red/pink and a bit crusty.. well turns out i've got thrush for xmas so i've a prescription for Nystatin. - on the plus side I collected our turkey and chipolatas today from our local fabby butcher and popped into our new waitrose for some treats.. main shop came with sainsburys delivery monday.
merry christmas every one - right back to crochet..
FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 23/12/2009 23:00

sorry first bit got a bit garbled i'm on my phone atm..

Mominohoho · 23/12/2009 23:38

saus, good to see you. sorry about the PND and hope you feel better soon. try not to worry about the weaning too much. think of it as milk still being the main source of food and having tastes of solid food is a bonus. I agree with what ses said above.

fi, you a little excited?

looby, hope you had a good time at the work do.

Headless, well done on the cleaning - now could you come to do ours?

llare, although it's over the christmas holiday, great news about the work.

oh, it's snowing outside, beautiful big flakes, i'm watching a Christmas film, christmas tree lights on... fi, i'm excited too!

have a great Christmas everyone! I'm sure to check back here in awhile for those of you still around.

Crimbooldcaaaaaaaa · 24/12/2009 08:36

Wafts in, wearing angel outfit and singing carols very badly.

Good morning everyone.

IT'S CHRISTMAS TOMORROW IT'S CHRISTMAS TOMORROW IT'S CHRISTMAS TOMORROW IT'S CHRISTMAS TOMORROW

Gah, have a mountain of presents to wrap, nibble presents to make and still have to collect kids from (beautifully snowy I think) York. With a car that has no reverse gear (thanks DH ). Momi I almost got stuck going back from yours yesterday without reverse gear, you nearly had 2 waifs and strays beggin' at your door .

Momi's H is adorable, so pink-cheeked and bright-eyed. And she looks so delicate next to ye grande heffalump of mine. I think S thought she was one of her baby dolls. jinglebelgina we were discussing the glory that is C yesterday, I just want to squeeze her. And ruffle her (probably waist-length by now) hair.

I hope everyone else is gearing up for a argument full alcohol soaked button bustin greedy goit marvellous and peaceful day tomorrow.

Yeah, right

No name-checking, total lazyness, but wanted to actually post something today!!!

essenceofSES · 24/12/2009 08:54

Morning!

Getting excited here too!

Also watching GMTV atm. They've got their weather girl in the studio who has given birth to a beautiful little girl 2 months prem about 6 weeks ago after years of struggling to get pg. The baby is gorgeous and tiny and not helping my broodiness!

V impressed with all these clever babies - clapping, pulling to sit unaided and learning to wave!!! We have produced a fantastic - what's the collective word for babies?! - babble(??!?) of babies

I have all the presents to wrap today except for one(!) I managed the other day and all the veg to prepare so I'd better get going!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS EVE to you all!

OP posts:
Jinglebelgina · 24/12/2009 11:39

Happy Christmas ever today!!

I didn't come on yesterday as was v busy finding DH's xmas present, dd1's b'day present etc etc etc....

We're getting excited here about xmas too. The dcs have been counting down big time. It's the 1st year ever, so it'll be an exciting day tomorrow.

C's better now and finally feeding again, both solid and milk. So she'll enjoy some xmas dinner tomorrow . She's become very very clingy though and I think she's going through one of those developmental growth spurts again, like mentioned in the (?) wonder weeks book. From 32 weeks in can start and she's 32 weeks now I've calculated. She woke at 9 o'clock last night and only settled when in physical contact with me. I just could not put her down. I hope it passes soon, because I'm shattered after having a babie thrashing around in bed all night. After the festive period I'm hoping do do some sleep training, because I'd like her to sleep through once I'm back at work so there are no problems when I need to start working nights IYKWIM.

Like fi I've also just collected our bird and sausages from the butcher's (next door!) today. We're having pheasant as it's just the 5 of us and neither of us really like turkey all that much .

saus I was just thinking about you the other day too. I just want to say as well that you should try not to stress about the weaning. It's exactly the reason I went for BLW this time around, because with ds and dd1 I felt just like you're doing now. With dc3 I've decided to take it a bit more easy. And re the drinking from a cup, it took my 1st 2 dcs 2 months to crack that one and neither of them could do it before 8 mo! The only way to teach babies to drink from the cup is to just give them the cup to play with and in time they'll learn what to do with it. I really recognise what you're feeling, but take heart. My eldest 2 know perfectly well how to drink from a cup now, so it'll all work out in the end . Also sending you some non mn-y hugs for your pelvis/hip. Hope the PND stays at bay a bit over the xmas period. But with everything that's been going on for you I can imagine it must all be a bit hard.

crimbo C is feeling flattered that she's been talked about up there in faraway York Her hair at the back is past shoulder length, lol. Her hair at the front is nose length, so she's always got a clip in it . Sounds like you had a lovely meet up. It must be nice to be back (and warm and bathed).

jael Yay for the presents arriving!

llare Yay for the order, boo for the timing. But in a way it's a bit like a nice xmas present for the business, isn't it?

Errmm I'm pretty sure I've forgotten loads of people, so just in case I hope all travellers have arrived safely, ill babies (and mums) are better and bad sleepes are miraculously sleeping through.

Jinglebelgina · 24/12/2009 11:41

Haha, Christmas Eve of course, not christmas ever, lol.

I'm going to miss not being at home (Belgium that is) today BTW. Because we tend to celebrate xmas eve and it's going to feel like something is missing tonight

SpangleMaker · 24/12/2009 13:22

Hi all, sorry for no name checking, got lots of rushing about and, just now, cleaning to do while DH has gone with H to deliver a present. I always plan to have a quiet Christmas Eve but something crops up every year!

Hope everyone has a wonderful time and the babies have a magical first Christmas

pulacracker · 24/12/2009 13:42

Hello all,

I'm having some quiet time as DH has taken DD and DS1 to see his BIL and SIL and i've stayed at home with DS2 who is still a bit poorly with his impetigo. I also found out that my nephew who is 6 mo has impetigo now, on his scalp. I feel a bit as it was probably me that infected him third party, as i just can't help touching babies hair/head when i hold them.

I went shopping for a replacement top this morning whilst DS2 napped and DH did some baking with DD and DS1. I decided my top is wearable, so i ended up buying more new clothes (I was meant to be shopping for DHs present ).

We still have snow on the ground which makes it feel very christmassy.
