have put a few new pictures on my profile.

rubyslippers · 20/11/2009 14:10

morning all

we had a slightly better night - 1.5/2 hours between feeds

HV couldn't come but am assuming we are in the midst of 6 week growth hell so can reckon on another few days of the non stop feeding

(she has fed all day with 2 10 min catnaps)

she then did a monster poo and had to have a bath ... the joys

Ruby is due her jabs in 2 weeks - got the reminder today ... it does seem very little

sorry for no personals but hope everyone is hanging on in there ... thanks for all the cyber support

devilsadvocaat · 20/11/2009 17:29

just had 6 week check (c is 8 weeks), c has thrush so we both have meds. also whilst we were there she heard ds1 cough and listened to his chest and he has anti-biotics too!

i am so STARVING! roll on friday pizza o'clock

princessmel · 20/11/2009 18:34

Hi all

Thanks HT
peaches Freddie passed thank goodness

I took him to the doctors last night though. He has got a cough and a cold. I had to wait almost 2 hours at the end of the doctors normal appointments. We were the last ones. We had to wait in a side room in case of swine flu risk. The receptionist met me at the side door wearing a face mask!! Doctor said he has a sore throat and a border line temp.
She also gave him some antibiotics for his sticky eye.
He was slightly more wakeful in the night and slept in our bed for some of it.

I am a bit worried today though as he has slept most of the day from 11 until now. Through nappy changes and allsorts. He has had 2 half hearted feeds in that time.
I'm sure it's just because he is under the weather. Hope he picks up soon.

HC yippee for the breakthrough with Matthew!!!!! I am truely pleased for you!

devils about the antibiotics, hope it kicks in soon. We're having curry-o-clock tonight.

twinkle gorge pics with a 2 theme!!

I am feeling ever so slightly low about not going on any Christmas nights out. There are 2 class nights (one for ds and one for dd's class mums), a quiz night (tonight) and a girly dancing night that I'm missing. I am usually very up for all of these things! In fact on my profile is a pic of me about to go out for the mums xmas do last year, in a fab purple dress....
I know I have a beautiful baby and I am loving him 100% but I do love my nights out.
And before anyone suggests expressing I am not going too! Not into that. I will just have to wait a very long time a little bit till he's older.

I have friends are coming for a curry in a few weeks , so that will be nice. There will be 12 of us

Tomorrow we're going shopping to swap a few presents that F has been given. He's had so much for 3-6 months. Also he has a FANTASTIC biker jacke that I love, but it will fit him when it's the summer. So I'm swapping it for next winters age.

Hope you're all ok.

kowaikiwi · 20/11/2009 20:02

Just been around to a local mum's for lunch and through NCT she's organised a baby massage course for some of us - has anyone done anything like this? Sadie will be 5 weeks on Monday, I assume it doesn't matter how old they are when you start, just depends whether she lies still or not!

Just seen your photos twinklegreen and princessmel - love them, such cute children, can't wait to watch Sadie grow (though I know I shouldn't wish the time away, it will go fast enough).
I've added some of my fav pics of Sadie - all ready for the rugby tomorrow!

Good luck for tonight everyone, hope you get some sleep.
KK

twinklegreen · 20/11/2009 20:18

lovely pics kowaikiwi she's got such dark hair, really beautiful

devilsadvocaat · 21/11/2009 08:55

ah twinkle and kowaikiwi lovely profile pics!

how long until the thrush clears up? sore boobs today.

princessmel, i know how you feel about nights out. i can't wait til my girly one next month. do you not want to expess due to oversupply issues? i'm sure expessing a few ounces to cover you a glass of wine down your local would be ok. if not, lots of girly nights in! why not suggest everone getting glammed up anyway? mmmm curry

charlie sleeping 11-3 3.30-6 the naps in bed til 8 with me. pretty standrd now so at least i know what to expect each night. looking forward to him doing 3.30-7 again someday tho!

have been following the couch the couch to 5k running thing again (did it after ds1). have one more jog for week two left then on to week 3. it is so good. i am so sick of being in these clothes. i still have 1st 5lbs to lose though (and christmas to get through!). am loving getting out on my own for half an hour, three times a week. makes me feel like i DO exist outside of being a feeding machine!

pretty grey here today, not a lot going on. better get the boys bathed and dressed i s'pose. have a great weekend everyone x

peachespaige · 21/11/2009 10:29

Morning all.

Freddie is 5 weeks today, I cant believe it!!

Ruby Freddie feeds anywhere between 1.5 hours and 2.5 hours, I never know what to expect, so not much sleep here either. Thankfully he goes straight to sleep at night. He barely sleeps in the day unless in his pram or on me!

Just a quicky as Im eating my breakfast while he is quiet!

Have finally uploaded pics.

Kowaikiwi Baby massage is lovely.

MeHimCatBlob · 21/11/2009 10:43

Hi all

just a quick one as I havent had a chance to catch up with all the posts

firstly wanted to say a big thanks for all the kind comments about my bf issues. Am feeling so much better about it now and as you all pointed out, at least she had 2 weeks of pure breast milk and now a combination of that and formula (although my breastmilk is drying up and i am struggling to express anything now but she had the best start she could).

with regards to formula, something that may make you smile - when we took the decision to give her formula, DP went to the supermarket to buy some. He chose SMA hungrey baby fomula as Sophia could feed on me for 1.5 hours at a time so it seemed like a logical choice and clearly says its suitable from birth on the carton. This week we had the health visitor visit for the first time and in talking with her found out that the hungrey baby formula is specially for babies who are coming up to weaning but arent quite old enough for solids - how silly did we feel!! explains why she was taking less and less at a feed and sleeping for longer and longer in between as it has apparently a high calorie level! ah well, no damage done and she is much happier on baby stage 1 Aptamil now!

take care all and have a good weekend, jugs to those of you who are suffering

CalypsoFramboise · 22/11/2009 08:32

ooh some of you are having some better nights, smashing!

Annalise just keeps dozong off, vomiting, gets changed (as does the bedding), wakes up properly, cries, won't settle, sometimes has a little feed, vomits etc etc... At least it seems for the last 3 nights, no grunting and thrashing so I'm feeling optimistic that this may continue and when she isn't parping, she's sleeping better. Am I the only one who isn't sleeping regularly in the same room as OH? I hope that this will pass soon, and I'm not camped out in the nursery forever (mind you, DH always punches me accidently in the head whilst he sleeps - maybe I should swaddle him too )

Good advice about the open-mouth latch, I think that I do let it go too often and pay the price. Still don't seem to be able to stop her clamping so hard though, but the flow is too fast...?!

twinklegreen & KK lovely photos! All your children are adorable

ruby I hope you get better nights soon, and the growth spurts is over.

KK I love baby massage! I've been taking Annalise since she was 3 weeks old. She really likes it, very chilled out, although some babies find it a bit much the first time and cry a bit. Massage makes them thirsty though so be prepared to feed at the end. oh and take spare nappies - abdominal massage produces output

MHCB Glad you feel happy with your feeding choices, and haha about the formula

I'm so of all your bonny big babies, Annalise is growing so slowly, still only 8lb 9oz, down on the 5th percentile, she's going to be a dinky little person I think (much like her parents)!

oh and yesterday I cycled! yay! so completely over the moon to have got back on my beloved racer, haven't cycled since I was 7 months pg, felt like forever! DA wish I could escape to start running, do you run in the evenings when DH is home?

rubyslippers · 22/11/2009 08:35

hello all

well things are improving - think we are out of 6 week growth spurt hell

She is now back to going 2 - 3 hours at night

daytime naps are still very hit and miss but she seems more settled

she has also started giggling and smiling a lot and saves all her biggest smiles for me

thanks ladies for all your lovely comments - i made it through

MHCB - you have given her the best start ...

HC - was thinking of you and hoping your good nights were continuing

Ruby has her first set of injections on Friday so hope she is ok - DS was always fine

hope everyone has a brill day

devilsadvocaat · 22/11/2009 11:06

yes i run once ds1 is in bed. only out for 30 mins so quick feed before i go. mentally it does me a lot of good. felt scarey the first time being away from him tho!

well done ruby!

kowaikiwi · 22/11/2009 12:59

Thanks for the baby massage advice Calypso, good to be prepared!
I've been out for a few walks now too, Sadie loves it in her pram and falls straight asleep. Would love to start running but need someone to watch her for that, we live in a rural area so there's no streetlights and lots of tree roots to trip over so I can't go out once he comes home now that it gets dark so early (why didn't I have a baby in summer!). Might have to head back to the gym. Getting back out there does make me feel good though.
Glad some of you are getting out too - go the mums!
Sadie had her best night ever last night, waking up every 3 hrs to feed and going straight back to sleep again, fantastic. Fingers crossed.
Hope you've all had a good weekend.
KK

HumphreysCorner · 22/11/2009 14:12

Hi all

ruby-so pleased to hear things are better chez ruby. Long may it continue.

Can't believe the difference in Matthew, he settles so well during the day with minimal crying. Can do so much more without having to keep picking him up. Nights are still one 4 hour sleep then last night it followed with a 3 hour then he wouldn't settle after that. The problem in our house is DD1 who really is the spawn of the devil. Can't handle her, have grounded her for the rest of the year but she finds everything naughty she has done funny. Well, I don't!

Will catch up later, am determined to finish writing my Christmas cards in between feeding the boy.

Morning all! Well I'm very excited, after a mammoth cluster feeding session yesterday evening Amelie slept through till morning 11pm till 7am, she back to sleep now aswell!

Hope everyone else had a good night

HappyTangerine · 23/11/2009 08:38

Twinklegreen-well done, how fantastic. Here's to another great night for you both

HC and ruby sounds like you've both acheived a bit of a breakthrough, so glad things are on the up for you

devils and Calypso* Very jealous of your exercise regimes, I can't wait to get running again

Some beautiful photos being posted on the profile pics, thanks for sharing. Family and friends can't believe how ginger Joseph is - you can see in one of my profile pics. DH has brown hair and green eyes and I have that typical Welsh thing of very dark hair and eyes. So this must be related to our grandparents, we both have the ginger gene in there via them!

Nice quiet weekend,Joseph settled on his dad a lot which alowed me to get on with housework. SIL,MIL and neices came round Sat which was nice-the girls were very excted to hold him but SIL kind of monopolised him under the guise of "winding" him for a rather long time . Feeding going ok, very painful still on the breast with the nipple blister-its v soft and nipple almost flat so a bit of a challenge. Mastisis breast healing ok. Joseph is cluster feeding in a big way, every 1.5-2hrs. Longest stretch last night that I had sleep was 3hrs between 3am and 6am so shattered now.

Quick question re tummy time-I know its important but Joseph hates it. Any tips? Ive tried putting him on a soft play/activity rug, putting a mirror there etc but he seems happiest on my chest so w3e go with that at the moment.

Have a good day all x

rubyslippers · 23/11/2009 08:53

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

last night after 5 hours of cluster feeding she slept from 9 - 11 pm and then was up every hour and a half

i can't do this

1 step forward and 84 back

littlepea72 · 23/11/2009 09:11

Ruby you are not alone. Faith is still crying all day, but now only sleeps about 2 hours a night, she goes down about 11pm but is up and awake from 1am, and doesnt go back down. Im having my 6 week check tomorrow and i honestly think i need to talk to my doctor about the way i have started to feel. All i seem to do is shout & cry. My hubby (not a darling one) has been telling me alot, that he wishs we never had another baby, that he never wanted one & now refuses to do anything with her. I really do think this is the start off my marriage breaking up. I know we are both really tired, but im the one who does everything with her, with my DS & the house. I hope i am wrong & it gets better.

Faith is taking Cow & Gate for hungry babies, but the normal ones just dont fill her, at 13lb she is a big fat baby!

rubyslippers · 23/11/2009 09:48

littlepea -

no sleep makes everything a million times worse but am so sorry to hear your H is doing this

you must speak to your doctor ... do you think she has reflux or anything else which may make her unsettled?

poor you - do you have some RL support?

devilsadvocaat · 23/11/2009 10:10

littlepea, new baby stresses can make people say things they don't mean. try and talk to him about it, this is the hardest bit - it will get easier xxxxx

arghh ruby you can do it! you've already done it for 6 weeks, it can only get easier, the older she gets.

hc, so pleased about m! fantastic

ht, ds1 never enjoyed tummy time on a mat but loved tummy time on a chest iykwim. he never had any probs, don't worry too much.

had tough wkend of constant daytime feeds and back to 2hrly at night. tried to get early night, went to bed at 930 till up feeding at 1130 after feeding all day. thank god he only woke at 330am then slept til 7.

just waiting for hair to dry then going out for a walk so he sleeps in the pram.

x

devilsadvocaat · 23/11/2009 10:23

have updated pics

princessmel · 23/11/2009 10:30

littlepea I hope you get some help from your H soon. Deffo talk to your gp.

ruby You CAN do it. I know you can. Just think that this phase goes so quick, before you know it they'll be at nursery!

hc woohhooo!!

Freddie has still got a cold He is snuffly and sneezing and has a green runny nose.
He was making so many noises last night and fed on and off alot. He ended up sleeping in my bed in my arms for the middle chunk of the night. Dh couldn't get to sleep for ages, probably due to all the noises F was making.

We have been spoilt up to now, with him doing quite a few nights of 9pm till 4am or at least 9pm till 1am. Then sleeping till 5 ish.
Last night he slept 9 till 12 ish then we had the off and on feeding.

Still got the hard/thick area in my right breast. Will mention it at the weighing clinic on thursday.

running....no thanks!! I am just walking on as many school runs as possible and will hope that does the trick

Hope all ok.

princessmel · 23/11/2009 10:32

Lovely pics devils

Lovely pics from everyone

HumphreysCorner · 23/11/2009 11:29

littlepea-please do talk to your GP about how you are feeling. Your H needs to support you through this difficult time and it does take 2 to make a baby so he chose to participate.

ruby-snap! Matthew slept 11 until 1am after his all night feed then woke every 1 and a half hours. Hope tonight is better and you can do it.

twinkle-that is brilliant. Did you panic when you woke up and saw what time it was. DD2 did this once at this age and I jumped out of bed wondering why she hadn't woken.

HT-I never put M on his tummy, should I be doing. Didn't with DD1 and DD2.

Great photos everyone. Time passes so quickly that I forget to take photos.

Hi to everyone else, M just done an explosion poo.
