Thanks all for the lovely messages and suggestions. Having a much better day today. What a huge difference getting out for 2 hours has made to my sanity and mood-it's the longest I've spent out & about without visiting family since Joseph has been a few weeks old.

This morning we managed:

  • the post office (where Joseph was grinning at and amusing a lovely elderly couple),
  • the library, where we did storytime (today was bears )and some rhymes.
  • Tesco, our great nemesis - I took him out of the pram before we even went in and voila-no screaming! He just flirted and stuck his tongue out at everyone who came near him, esp the checkout ladies who loved him. He had a meltdown on the way back so shopping ended up in the pram and I carried him up the street. Just wait until I get the sling sorted, I'll be taking him all over the place! My mum hs also left a message on my phone with what appears to be a genuine apology for Sunday which has surprised me.Also had a card from woman who runs the bf cafe reminding m that she's always around-I might go next week and talk about green poo.

I realise now how important it is for me to get out each day for more than a quick zip around the park. Am taking some time for myself tomorrow - taking Joseph to MIL for 1pm, she'll watch him while I go to Slimming World for the first time. We'll then pick up my 5 yr old niece from school, she'll play with Joseph until my 9 yr old niece comes back at 4.30 where she will have her turn and the younger one beats me at some game.

Ruby thanks-I have the book, read a little of it when Joseph was younger and thought it was great. I think I need to read more of it.

Re. the bath. I bought a tummy tub and Joseph couldn't get comfortable in it. Is it because he is so long? We couldn't get him into anything like a sitting position, even after viewing the demos. So then bought a plastic bath support like twinklegreens and he'll tolerate it for 2 mins then screaming begins. Am definately going to try the kitchen sink next, genius idea as he loves the kitchen.

Will do personals on a seperate post or this will turn into an epistle x

ht - some babies are just more tricky than others. if he doesn't like bath time then just dunk him in, give him a wash and take him out. he doesn't need to spend ages in there, 2 mins is enough! eventually he will like it. same with pram/carseat. charlie and ds1 both not keen, there is no answer, just persevere and eventually they get it! charlie is now forward facing (5 months), he doesn't cry anymore (much). don't leave!!

peaches - her time will come! just wait for the 4 month mark...

i have also been thinking about putting charlie in his bedroom. keep putting it off though, i remember being sad when ds1 went. i should do it tho as charlie wakes in the morning and coos in his cot for ages without crying, it might not wake me if he wasn't next to me and i'd get 10 mins more blissful sleep.

he varies from one night 7-7 with one wake to one night 7-7 with one wake at 3 and then feeding 5-7. he's getting so big now. only 4 more weeks to go til 6 month i can't believe it. pregnancy feels like a million years ago.

has anyone had any thoughts about having another baby?(!)

get well soon scout!

devilsadvocaat · 23/02/2010 16:26

that is forward facing in buggy, not car seat...

twinklegreen · 23/02/2010 17:42

devils I have seriously toyed with the idea of baby number 4 but as time goes on I'm alot more settled with the idea of stopping at 3. I'm really looking forward to the point where Amelie is about 1 and I start to get a bit of my old life back, I can't imagine I'll want to be going down the pregnancy road again at that point... I do LOVE having babies though, sigh

twinklegreen · 23/02/2010 17:43

We are nearing the end of this thread ladies, any ideas for a new title?

princessmel · 23/02/2010 17:45

October 2009 babies- Food and fun, more time for mum???

princessmel · 23/02/2010 17:46

solids and sitting my jeans are almost fitting!!!????

HappyTangerine · 23/02/2010 18:06

Iggly I can go 2 weeks without a creme egg(just ) in the hope we see an improvement. Rice milk is grim, you have my sympathies. Joseph seems hungrier too,he cluster feeds at nighht between 3am and 6am.

peachesI can see me coming to you for tips on how to wear down entertain an active boy. Will report back on kitchen sink bath.

Calypso Thanks again for sling help.Block feeding-it took 4 days and some v wet tops for the engorgement and leaking to go. Will Annalise nap in the sling during the day? You are doing so well at night!

ruby you do an amazing job in v difficult circumstances-I couldn't manage with more than one dc at the moment.

peaches I so hope your nights improve soon

HC thanks for bath tip, I'll try that. Sorry the block feeding isn't working. What is it with all these boys cluster feeding through the nights! They need to take a lesson from the girls

fidelma yay for water being back on!

twinklegreen How exciting that you are doing a self build. We've always wanted to - I wanted a Huss Haus . Good luck with it!

Scout Poor you and poor Seb! I hope you feel better soon. I know what you mean about sleep envy!

devils I'm telling myself that Joseph is going to be a fab toddler. He's a great little character as it is. I know this sounds mad given our issues but yes, I'd love another! Am 37 this year so am aware time isn't on my side but I'm one of 4 and I'd love Joseph to have sibling(s)

princessmel I love both your suggestions, especially the second-v catchy

Phew, I think thats everyone, sorry if i've missed anyone x

rubyslippers · 23/02/2010 20:09

i like the second title princess

another baby .... hmmmmmmmmmmm

ask me in a year when all this is a distant memory

i always wanted 3, and somewhere at the back of my mind, i think i can't rule it out but if i have another non-sleeper it will finish me off

i would love another child, but not a baby IYSWIM?

fidelma · 23/02/2010 20:10

Keen to know who is thinking about another baby and when.I am definetly DONE

I like the title about the jeans.

twinklewhat was it like being one of 4 and what number are you ? any advice about what was good for you and what could of been better?

rubyslippers · 23/02/2010 20:11

HT

so glad you are feeling perkier

there is a lot to be said about getting out and about even if you are knackered beyond belief

devilsadvocaat · 23/02/2010 20:18

haha ruby i would have another if someone else could be pregnant for me! we aren't having anymore which makes me feel sad and happy at the same time. i'm not sure i like the idea of not having little cutey people in my house BUT i am really looking forward to being me again and enjoying having older kids too.

ht - i really think you're amazing. your outlook is exactly right for bringing up children. ds1 was an easy (ish) baby but between 18mo and 2yrs was AWFUL. then he came out the other side and he is a lovely boy. they all go through difficult phases sooner or later.

pm - i like 'em both!

Scout19075 · 23/02/2010 20:48

(Un)fortunately (?!?!) we're done with babies and Sebby will be it. It's a combination of age (will be 36 this year), pre-existing health problems and health problems that showed up while I was pregnant. I've been (stupidly?) watching the show "One Born Every Minute" and have found myself sad for the babies we'll never have and thinking I'll never get to hold a brand new baby again. Fortunately Sebby doesn't seem to have inherited my problems, but he will be tested for both a few times between now and toddlerhood to be sure.

Spent the day being lazy and neither of us got out of pajamas all day. That said, though, am feeling loads better but am still glad I bailed out of Guides tonight. I'm looking forward to BF Support on Monday to ask what's going on with my breast....

With Easter fast approaching, am curious to know what are everyone's traditions? At home, the Easter bunny comes and either leaves a basket of sweets/chocolate or fills up the basket that's left out, as well as hiding the dyed eggs around. My DH's family exchanges eggs but no hint of a basket anywhere. I want to do a basket for Sebby but am afraid this will confuse him and his cousins (who we spend the holiday with). WWYD?

Scout19075 · 23/02/2010 20:48

Forgot to mention I like both thread titles!

princessmel · 23/02/2010 20:53

Yay!! that you all like the ideas

Going to bed, night night xx

CalypsoFramboise · 23/02/2010 21:28

ARGH ready to switch Annalise for another baby I know I have it sooooo easy compared to some of you on here, but man alive, her endless screaming when I try to put her down to nap is sending me loopy. We keep getting into a horrible cycle where she'll fight fight fight her nap even though she's clearly tired, until I give in when it's her feed time as she's too hungry to sleep but then she'll pass out as soon as she's on the boob and won't feed properly but if I put her down she's too hungry to sleep longer than 10mins. How can anyone be so stubborn?!! Spent from 13:30 to just now trying to get her to sleep and feed properly... Anyway, tomorrow is a new day so will try yet again with her loose schedule to see if I can gauge whats up.

oooh but she did sit unaided through Busy Babies today! She looked so adorable sitting there
Have uploaded a photo I took, although its not so clear that she's sitting by herself!
click me!

fidelma hope the tooth is ok, root canal sounds very painful x

yawn, totally frazzled, am going for cake, shower and then bed!

HappyTangerine · 23/02/2010 21:38

I am watching One Born Every Minute at the moment and I want to slap that guy with the ears (Sarah's? VBAC woman's husband). Useless support, go back to reading your Dan bloody Brown .

HappyTangerine · 23/02/2010 21:52

Okay, feel for him now

devilsadvocaat · 23/02/2010 22:01

bloodyhell calypso!!! fantastic

(link doesn't work but went to your pics on profile)

fidelma · 23/02/2010 22:13

Caylpso love the photos what a cutie

The link worked for me

Connor is no where near sitting yet.I think his head is toooo big

HT will watch one born when I get a chance.I love programmes about birth

Off to bed night night x

HumphreysCorner · 23/02/2010 22:15

Clever little Annalise. Matthew can manage 3 seconds.

We have been discussing No4 despite me being 40 and One Born Every Minute is convincing me all the more.

Bed for me, M has refused to nap today so perhaps he will sleep tonight????? He has a gungy eye but luckily I have some eye ointment left over from when DD2 had it nearly 4 years ago. It still works though.

Calypso-gorgeous photos-clever girl Annalise!

devils -thanks for your kind words

Scout19075 · 24/02/2010 07:23

Good morning, all! Hope all of the mommies and babies had a decent night's sleep....

And to be put away for elevenses I pass to all the mommies (homemade) coffee flavored cupcakes.

Have a good day, Everyone!

twinklegreen · 24/02/2010 08:12

thanks for the cake scout yum!

Very clever Annalise! Amelie can manage a few seconds sitting but is quite happy on her back at the moment

hc a squirt in the eye with breastmilk does wonders for sticky eyes, and it's quite amusing to try

I am avoiding 'one born every minute' as it will make me far to broody! I agree with your sentiments devils I have no desire to go through pregnancy again and I'm really looking forward to enjoying the next stage of having 'children' rather than 'babies'.

I will start a new thread princess you are so good at thinking up catchy titles, thanks
