MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

hope Santa bought you all everything you wanted

Scout19075 · 25/12/2009 09:35

Hiya! I'm new to this forum. My DS was born 28 Oct (10 days early).

I was just wondering if anyone else did a stocking or Santa presents for their two-month old, even if said baby didn't have any siblings? I found out yesterday my SiL wasn't doing one for her one-year old (first birthday Christmas week) despite having four older children and it made me wonder -- am I crazy for doing a stocking for baby?

twinklegreen · 26/12/2009 17:05

Hope everyone had a good day! merry christmas

welcome scout we did dd2 a stocking... it didn't have much in it, but my other two children would wonder why we didn't do one!

littlepea72 · 27/12/2009 06:16

Thank goodness that is over for another year Ive eatin far to many turkey dinners & i swear i have put on a least half a stone! But i was great watching my DS who is 5.....

We also had a stocking for Faith, just had rattles, me to you 1st xmas photo album & ankle and wrist rattles which she loves, she sits waving her arms & legs to hear the noises.

Hope everyone else had a great day, can only get better the older the little ones get

princessmel · 27/12/2009 09:16

Hello everyone Hope you're all ok.

We had a good Christmas day , we went to the inlaws which can sometimes be a bit too crazy for my liking but actually it was lovely. Freddie was happy and relaxed
Yesterday was not so good because he hardly slept all day. A few times he nodded off and I tried to put him down and of course he woke up. So then he was awake virtually all day (apart from a few cat naps)and by evening was really unhappy He fell asleep at 10pm ish and slept till 5am ish then till almost 8am.
Today if he doesn't sleep we'll go out in the car.

Better go, dh wants the laptop.

rubyslippedonastraymincepie · 27/12/2009 10:01

hello all

i am from all the food ... although eating chocolate brazils for breakfast is not good

we don't celebrate Xmas but all the family were together so it was lovely

Ruby is still going through her 12 week growth spurt so she fed alllllllllllllll day (sympathies princess mel)

Hi to Scout

Hope everyone else is doing well

littlepea - is it Faith that is teething?! I think Rubes is ...

love to all

xx

Igglybuff · 27/12/2009 10:18

Merry xmas all! I've been a bit awol but hopefully will have more time now the big day is over.

littlepea where did you get the rattles from? I like the idea of those for William!

ruby I saw you've hit the growth spurt. We've got an opposite problem - William has started to turn down feeds. I wonder if it's linked to his reflux which he has just been diagnosed with (it caused his choking fit).

I also think William might be teething - chewing anything including my shoulder if I'm holding him and drooling like MAD! I'm thinking of getting some teething toys and bonjella to see if it helps. Any tips welcome!

Flame · 27/12/2009 10:34

i think we're in growth spurt territory too.

littlepea72 · 27/12/2009 15:33

Yes Faith is teething, she always has she hands in her mouth, really red cheeks too. Will chew on dummy & bottle teats. I got a teething ring that you can put in the freezer for 3 months + so hope that will work. Teething powers are good, i used them with DS. She wakes up screaming at night with the pain. Hope Ruby & William will cut them soon

Iggly we got them through Amazon, but i think you can get them anywhere. They are Lamaze gardenbug foot finder & wrist rattle set. Such a great buy

Mel Faith is starting to hate sleeping/napping during the day, she fights it untill she is so grumpy! But she still gets up twice during the night

BellaCullen · 27/12/2009 18:02

Hello all hope you all had a good christmas. We had lovely time just us 5 and I made turkey first time ever and came out lovely. Will be going to DPs family new years day.

Littlepea got that rattle set too got them in entertainer toy shop.Nathanile not too impressed by it yet.He seems to be teething too drolling like mad for a few weeks now and trying to chew his hands off.Need to change his clothes at least once a day due to too much drooling and his clothes being completely soaked on top half.

Welcome to scout Nathaniel didn`t have a stocking but a few things under the tree.

Better go nathaniel fed up off sitting in the bouncer. x

rubyslippedonastraymincepie · 28/12/2009 09:43

lots of early teethers then ... Ruby does a real yelp of pain ... i have been using anbesol and those teething powders which seem to help

ruby is still in big growth spurt territory and we are back to manic cluster feeding and big night feeds

what is everyone up to today? we are off out for more eating

have good days

xx

Igglybuff · 28/12/2009 10:41

Thanks littlepea will check them out.

ruby we've got some powder but not tried it yet. I'm going to try and get a teething toy for William to chew on as he really does like rubbing his gums on my knuckles!

I think William is starting to spurt now - he has a 4/5 hour sleep then wants feeding every two hours...........

Today we're not going much - just relaxing really!

rubyslippedonastraymincepie · 29/12/2009 14:16

how is everyone?

Lots of teething and growth spurts to contend with - can feel never ending can't it?

Ruby is mega hungry but last night she went 5.5 hours until she woke for a feed which is a record for her.

Having a lazy day - the house just never seems to get tidy

Rubes has her 12 week jabs tomorrow ... hope she is ok again - she did really well with her 8 week jabs

x

littlepea72 · 29/12/2009 15:12

Hey, Faith has been given a teething ring that you put in the fridge to cool, then you hold it while she rubs her gums on it, she looks like she is trying to eat it! Will have to get my mum to post some powers out here.

She decided last night that she would wake at 9.30pm & refused to sleep untill 2.40am . Lucky for me, my DH has really taken to sitting up with her, so i went onto bed. Other than that, she waits for 4-5 hours between feeds now. She has her 12 week jabs in 2 weeks time. Its going so fast now!

Took down the xmas tree today. Trying to get the house into some kind of order again. Plus, getting fed up with the cat climbing it every other day. Other than that we havent done that much. Just enjoying it before DS goes back to school....wont be long. Hope you are all enjoying your holidays too!

HappyTangerine · 29/12/2009 20:17

Hi all, hope you had a fab Christmas. We have DH home for a whole week, its lovely.. I cooked Christmas lunch for us and MIL and Joseph creied whenever he was off me despite numerous attempts to put him down. Methunks MIL will now shut up about how I've made a rod for my own back by hving him on me all the time-she can see now it not because I don't want to put him down (SILs opinion but that he screams the house down if I do!

We've been to doctors today as I wanted a v hoarse and bunged up Joseph checked out. Doctor confirmed that he has a)a cold b) is definately teething and c)is going through the 12 week growth spurt. His little throat is sore but his chest is clear, has no temp or ear infection so just keep up with the fluids. Thats no problem, he's feeding constantly! He got a musical teething ring for Christmas and it's been a Godsend-makes a change from him sucking his fist/anything in sight.

We were due to have a 2nd Christmas with my mum and sister last Sun but sister decided she needed to see some friends and they'd come up today instead. I did try to warn them about predicted bad weather. As it is, their part of Wales has had massive snowfall today and we now have no chance of seeing them before sister goes back to Milan. There are loads of pressies for Joseph down there so he'll get them at some point, I'll have to post my mums and sisters tomorrow. My mum has developed a chest infection and sounds so rough, I don't think she'd be up to travelling today anyway.

DH and I have been talking about moving on-he wants a job with decent hours so he could put Joseph to bed with a story and he hates living where he grew up (it was nice in theory but the reality is somewhat stifling for him.) He's favouring us going back to London but I'd like to go to North of Scotland or Ambleside-tis a question of where the work would take him I guess. We do really miss London but I need to be near the countryside and preferably some mountains.

Welcome scout (waves)

Igglybuff · 29/12/2009 21:15

HT - oh I would LOVE to live in Ambleside. So would my DH..... one day, one day we tell ourselves. We're taking William to the Lakes next summer for his first lakes holiday (we go every year )

That aside, I hope you and J feel better soon.

I just realised we were given a teething toy for xmas but I didn't realise as it's not your typical toy. So will give that to William as he really is chomping at anything that moves near his mouth now.

We had the 12 week jabs today. William cried less this time than at the 8 week ones - might have been because the nurse did a good job of distracting him!

HumphreysSnowCorner · 29/12/2009 22:55

Evening all

Has been a busy few days so nice now not to have anything to plan. Am so full all the time with eating leftover nibbles. My clothes are tighter than ever.

Scout-hello and welcome. Matthew had a stocking and a sack with his big sisters. Only put some vests and a rattle in his stocking which the girls opened and he had a Fisher Price animal train in his sack which almost filled it so that was good.

HT-hope you, Joseph and your mum feel better soon. Snow almost gone here.

to everyone else.

M is feeding alot and still waking once or twice a night. Still going to hold out on weaning for as long as I can. He is nearly 13 weeks and I weaned DD1 at 15/16 weeks.

No plans for New Years Eve as yet. Must post more often in the NY.

Night ladeez.

morning all

Rubes had her jabs - she was fine after a howl of outrage at the nurse

She was up every 2 hours last night (i could cry i really could)

is everyone else's baby sleeping better now, or can someone else keep me compnay in the sleepy corner?!

nice to hear all the Xmas stories

NYE - we are in and I plan on being in bed by 10 pm!

hope you all have good days
xx

Igglybuff · 30/12/2009 11:30

Hi Ruby may I join you? William is feeding every two hours at night, taking half an hour at a time plus I need to keep him upright for 30 mins because of his reflux. So I get about an hour inbetween feeds although I never really sleep. I'm so tired!

I too will be in bed come NYE. Probably by about 8!

fluffycats · 30/12/2009 15:24

Happy New Year everyone.

I feel quite bad as we only got Ella a couple of bits of clothing for christmas. She got little pressies under the tree from the rest of the family though.

She seems to like being around lots of people and having lots of new things to take her attention, it made her very smiley and she was totally worn out after all the festivities.

How much is everyone's breast fed babies weighing now? Ella eats every 2 hours during the day but goes 4 hours at night (she would sleep through completely if I let her) but she really isn't gaining much weight. At 10 weeks 3 days, she only weighed 8lb 1oz (birth weight 6 10) has any one else got a little one?? Was thinking of topping her up with formula to see if it makes any difference. Does anyone else have any experience with this?

rubyslippedonastraymincepie · 30/12/2009 15:43

iggly - ok, you have it MUCH worse. My DS had reflux so you have my utter sympathies

fluffy - is your DD very petite? If she is pooing, weeing, and generally alert then she may be slow to gain weight as she is naturally small. Have you spoken to your HV? It is good you are waking to feed her ... that will help your supply anyway

Ruby weighs around 11 lbs after a birthweight of 6 lbs 6 oz ... she is 12 weeks now. She is in 3 - 6 months clothes but they swim on her. She is on the 25th centile

humphrey - impressed with M's sleep!

fidelma · 30/12/2009 16:24

Hi all I have missed you all as my internet has been down.

Connor has been high maintainance to say the least.xmas day and xmas eve was a total nightmare.he would not go down and was exhausted.i was feeding ever hour day and night (the only up side is that he is sucking the fat off me)ht i can totally sympathise.

however i came across the baby whisperer book and have followed it for the last 4 days and joy of joy connor has had 3 naps in his cot todayI am still feeding every 2 hours.

the advice when my other dc were babies was solids at 16 weeks and i will probably do the same with connor otherwise i wont survive.my nights are very disturbed 1am 2am 3am 4am 5am 6am 7am although i am forever hopeful.Tonight will be better.

We had a wonderful Christmas.Very full on.lots of snow and madness.Dc got up at 6.55am pretty good.We are snowed in as our country lane up to the house is sheet ice.

Ht we love living in Scotland.I hope you make it up sometime. We have a couple of holiday cottages so if you or anyone eles fancy a holiday give me a shout I will give you all a great discount.myholiday-scotland.comwe owne the Furze and hillfoot cottage.

off to read the rest of the posts as i havent caught up with nyou all.snowie hugs from scotland.

HumphreysSnowCorner · 30/12/2009 16:29

fluffy-my DD2 was 6lb 3oz at birth and only 9lb ish at 12 weeks but I never topped her up with Formula despite her being on a low centile. Carry on as you are.

Matthew is in 0-3 clothes now and he must be well over 12 lbs. Still in size 2 nappies though.

Very windy today.
