StrictlySazz · 01/10/2009 22:00

poppy did they do anything interesting like eat the tosser?

I'm off to bed to have a read. Night

sequinedsteaknife · 01/10/2009 22:02

Buckets oh yes yes, never thought of it but now you say it, of course LLB is Percy Blackeney / Scarlet Pimpernell.

And aboslutely for the Pirates idea - write a letter to the BBC!

After PMC bingo we should also have Strictly Bingo.

poppysocks · 01/10/2009 22:29

If only sazzles, if only.

sequinedsteaknife · 01/10/2009 22:30

I think bed for me too ladies. Going to try and capitalise on DD sleeping better.

wishing all you all peaceful ones.

pertelote · 01/10/2009 22:38

You lot are mad

Poor little P Oops - hope she is settled and magic meds + lots of sleep help her get better quickly.

Buckets sounds like you were the perfect encouraging visitor.

Steaky congrats on the interview, sorry the benefits stuff is such a pain.

No1 sorry you came back to that after enjoying yourself at work Hope you are all friends again now...

Dizzy how rubbish about your shift 'mates'. I've been looking at getting a new sling too, my friend carries her little girl on her back in a mei tai all the time and I'm quite though when she let me have a go I couldn't get the hang of it which is why I haven't yet convinced myself to splash out... Buckets if Oops decides yours isn't what she's after, I might be interested?

Bed now - have worked four days, feels like eight! What a wuss. No more til Monday though, phew. Night all.

NezLiquide · 02/10/2009 05:03

We too have PMC although guessing it is an older series and I haven't got into it yet - it's on at the wrong time (i.e. when DS is still awake). Will have to starhub it (sky+ much inferior system).

Oops oh no - seems like so many things going round at the moment. Hope you both had a sleep filled night.

Dizzy I have an ergo baby carrier www.ergobabycarrier.com/. I really like it but not sure if available in the UK.

No1 thanks - I was given one of the scrapbooks with the transparent pages in and a few sheets but need some inspiration as how to fill the pages so pics might be helpful. Can't remember if you are on fb but maybe could do it that way? Also find it hard not to lose my patience when DS won't eat but equally I worry too much if he doesn't eat much - mainly a little selfishly because I know he will wake up early or won't sleep well. Which was borne out again today by another 5am wake up. Thankfully DH got up today and let me sleep to 7.30 (lovely man). He did eat some pasta last night and had a decent breakfast this morning so hoping it was just related to his stomach bug and nothing more.

I felt the same way about work to start with but now it feels more like I get 4-5 hours a day at work, the rest of the day with DS and no time for myself and feel bad asking for time to myself at the weekend because I know DH has been at work all week and although wants to spend time with DS at the weekend also needs time out - mmm the joys of parental guilt! I suppose we should just be better organised at the weekend so we both get to do things on our own and with DS.

NezLiquide · 02/10/2009 05:05

Sorry for such a long post - I don't really get to join in on the conversations as they're generally when I'm in bed so have to catch up with all your madness in the mornings when I am generally completely sober

aahhh how I've missed you all, bloomin work keeps getting in the way of mn time

All good here. Eyes much better for both me and pfb. O is currently entertaining himself playing in pfb's bedroom. I've given myself a 5 min break from housework . In fact, here comes O now....crawling up to see what I'm doing.

O still not interested in walking yet, seems quite content to cruise, or let you hold his hands and 'walk' him.

Hope you ladies and babies are ok?

oopsacoconut · 02/10/2009 10:03

Morning ladeeees

No sleep here last night! the magic pain killers wore off at about 11.30 and neurofen just didn't cut it! DH tried very hard to help but she just won't have him. So he went in the spareroom and have a full night and I woke him up at 6.30 to tke over.

Well it's now 45 mins later than when I started this post! The ILs came over and sat watching telly whilst I made them coffee and toast.

We are waiting for the men to deliver the tiles and kitchen which will be between 10 and 4. So a day at home packing upi cupboards and throwing out much clutter!

hotterpotter · 02/10/2009 10:11

Poor DD Oops . Hopefully the abs will kick in today and she'll be feeling much better.

I have been on leave all week and thought I would have loads of time to chat but it has been one long whirl of washing cooking and shopping This holiday had better be worth it, I keep thinking why oh why did I book one week instead of two There is one silver lining of course, just think how long it would take me to catch up on here after a fortnight away

poppysocks · 02/10/2009 10:15

LOL at housework being a dirty word CC. Glad you're all on the mend now.

We have an amazing new coffee machine VG. Depsite not being a coffee person myself I am now drinking FAR too much of it as it's just too easy and just too good. Basically pour the beans into the back, listen to them being ground up and out it pours with that lovely slight froth on top. Suspect it was pretty £££ but decided best not to ask. Can highly recommend it though if you want the details.

On that subject.... coffee orders please ladies.

Deffo need the coffee this morning. Teensy bit headachey thanks to the inability of the masterchef scriptwriters to come up with any new phrases. On the upside, DD2 slept through (upside for us both ). I was v. when she dribbled (dilute) blood during breakfast but I guess that's just it all starting to come to an end (I hope!). She's definitely more chirpy though.

nez - it is really tricky isn't it. I used to work mornings, like you, when DD1 was small and I really really struggled with the time for me thing and my train of thought was exactly the same as you re: weekends and DH. DH was v. good at giving me time, but it often felt as though we just took it in turns with her. No real words of wisdom except that it all feels fine now. I've changed my working hours (cut a bit too) so that I do full days now of work and home, which cuts down on the rushing around. Also, I get the lunchtime naps to sit down and catch my breath, which I didn't have before. Think my expectations changed too with the arrival of DD2.

Have good days everyone. We're still in quarantine because of E's infection but planning on a curry cooking fest to celebrate the start of our week off tonight. Hooray!

cyteen · 02/10/2009 10:15

Aww oops poor little P and poor you.

What did I miss here last night? Am still rofling at everyone getting high on PMC.

poppysocks · 02/10/2009 10:19

X-posts there hp and oops. So sorry P is still so unhappy (and you're so tired). As hp said, hopefully the ABs will kick in soon and think of the compensation in sleep you'll get when she's comfortable enough to catch up on it. Good luck with the kitchen. V. exciting!

Know what you mean about 2 week hols hp. We've never stayed in one place longer than 5-6 days before but after a couple of short breaks involving airports this year we are seriously considering a fortnight next year. A week is deffo better than nothing though. Have a great time!

Poor P and popette. I hate it when they are sick but not old enough to communicate properly about how they feel.

We have a teddy here, a formal looking fellow called Vince, and he is brought in whenever someone is sick to start minding the ill person. When they are a bit older Vince provides an excellent way of bridging the gap between realising one of the DC is ill and medicine kicking in.

They always feel better when Vince arrives.

Still recovering from the monster chest infection here, though I will get out to vote later. I'm hoping my new wardrobe and chest of drawers will arrive today too.

I have barely eaten for 10 days, though suddenly had a craving for a dahl and made one quickly two nights ago. Really that's all I can face eating at the moment ... Can I donate all my remaining Food Focus points to anyone who wants them?

I'm also nosy about the coffee machine poppy. I haven't been able to face coffee for over a week either and am reluctant to go back to dependence really ...

DD2 has just had an almighty strop about me finishing a game of duvet surfing on the kitchen floor. I was trying to stuff the duvet into the machine, she was trying to pull it out.

It appears I have ruined her life.

dizzydixies · 02/10/2009 11:25

morning all, sitting down for first time today which isn't bad as its only 11am

took DD2 for her hering assessment at shiney new hospital (went in past yours Poppy so as not to hit the gold traffic, waved as we went by) DD1 a tad sceptical at first but once she realised the two VERY nice ladies we're trying to trick her in any way she just fine - hearing excellent in both ears so now we just have to work on her attention span Dylan down for her nap but am please to say they all slept through till Dylan woke at 7am

DH not home till sometime after midnight and away again supposed to be in for 9am but didn't leave till 9am [feck em emotiocon] and since arriving has been told they've changed his shift to work till 7pm instead of 5pm [why am I suprised emoticon][feckers] needless to say he was feck all use to me this morning so I was snapping his head off in my caring/sympathetic fashion

oops hope the PIL step up and you manage to get a rest at some point

poppy glad you got a night sleep - please do tell of coffee machine

VG if you came to live here I would supply you with lovely fresh free coffee every morning [bribery emoticon]

Nez thanks but I think I'm stuck on the apples/pears one - tis for my trip with all on my own in the airport - if I have D strapped to my back then at least she can't get lost

cyteen am glad you're also a fan of Candy Anthony - know what you mean about the prices though - we could start a fundraising campaign!!!

Red* hope you're on the mend - Vince sounds like a great idea - the get well gansta bear

dizzydixies · 02/10/2009 11:28

hots of course your hols will be worth it, esp with the hot-kini in tow - am very of both the holiday and the hot-kini!!

CC I know how you feel about pesky work getting in the way!!! Dylan also not too keen on the walking - she had done it and we've all seen her but frankly can get places much quicker crawling and throwing herself about the place so isn't taking it further at the moment!!! I have to admit that I'm not overly desperate for it as am shattered enough without having to chase her about the place too!!!!

poppysocks · 02/10/2009 11:31

Here's the coffee machine. Is v. pricey, but SO much better than our previous one which was still pretty pricey but SUCH a pfaff that I couldn't ever be bothered use it as am not that fussed about coffee. This however is on a par with starbucks/costa et al easier than making a cup of tea...

dizzydixies · 02/10/2009 11:33

looks fab and I don't even drink coffee

forgot to mention nipped into the shoe shop to get L's feet measured - her trainers are a disgrace - and there was only one other customer in there with her DS and DD. We waited AGES only to be ignored by her and the assistant so left without trying anything - I don't know why I bother as I'm not keen on that shop at all, their service is really crap and the shoes not normally to my taste - will have to do a trip to the sodding ferry now through those stupid raodworks now thouch

StrictlySazz · 02/10/2009 12:17

Just popping on quickly before lunch - DD2 had her MMR this morning. Bless her poor thing was asleep and had to be woken up and jabbed. Hopefully she will just think it was a bad dream

Had to go and collect DD1 early from Preschool as she had a bout of diaorrhea. She is fine in herself and got to the loo no worries so not sure what to do about her swimming lesson this avo? Any wise words?

Sorry to hear P had a bad night oops. Hope you can get some rest today and the AB's give you back your sunny smiling girl for a bit

dizz sorry to hear DH was being a useless fecker and work compunded the misery . Can you and the girls watch Mamma Mia or something this evening and dance round the living room before he gets in? I hate shoe shopping normally but have found a lovely one off shop which is fab for StartRites but is a pain because no parking and trying to get both DD's in there and behaving is very traumatic. No for you there

red i didn;t know you were doing Food Focus, it is definitely keeping me on the straight and narrow, so i guess i'd better not have your spare points. So sorry to hear you are still ill, it has been a hanger on of an illness . I did have to reread your post though as i thought you said you were having a new chest delivered. I thought your NHS healthcare provision must be superior to ours
LOL at Duvet surfing - i have had ours in the lounge as i had a strop last night that it was crap and demanded a new one for Xmas . On closer inspection it transpired that 9 of the 12 buttons had come off , hence the reason the two halves kept parting and leading to a lumpy cover. Buttons back on, £100 saved on not buying new duvet. Result

VG I would cast my vote the same way and GardiniaBoy

Re baby scrapbooks, i have baby books to record their milestones, family tree, photos etc, boxes for their treasures and some scrapbook type things with plastic pouches for certificates, first hand prints/pictures, swimming badges etc. Not that any of them are up to date mind

Right, really must go and do lunch - DD1 wants spaghetti hoops on toast, so clearly not too ill

TwilightSurfer · 02/10/2009 12:31

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 02/10/2009 13:46

LoL at all the chat on here. I have not seen any of it so can not join in.
Sorry to hear you are still not recovered red how awful it really has lingered.

oops Hope you have had a better morning with p. Bless her.
vg My mum used to do some nice Gaggia coffee machines in the shop.

I am a bit tired I have walked to pre school and back today, and same yesterday, but to toddler group (same village)
as my car is in the garage.
Took me almost an hour this am as it is all up hill.very steep hill I may add Had to set off at 8. I have abeen dreading the 'school' run.
I rely on the car too much I think [blsuh]
The school is only just over 2 mile away.

Will sort some pics out of the scrap book and post on hear or facebook nez
