How's that?

It is a pub Oops and it is also is the standard response children have to give to the roll call at school.

Teacher: 'MiniLentil?'
MiniLentil: 'Anseo' [but probably without coat, bag, glasses etc]

Steaky, the green shirt option is calling me too. What a wonderful opportunity! Is job share a possibility do you think?

Cyteen, the purple dress is divine and the fifties dresses too.

I have a vile chest infection and read the whole 'top foods' thread in discussions of the day without a glimmer of hunger. I have eaten virtually nothing for a week.

My mum has been here, and as is her way has managed to avoid a) confirming the fact I look awful / b) am actually ill / c) expressing sympathy etc. She has however ironed every goddamn thing within a mile radius.

And after three days she made me a hot whiskey which is the nearest she could get to any of the sympathetic behaviour listed above.

She also helped to make sure the DC enjoyed the truly wonderful centenary celebrations at DS's school which took over the whole weekend. The children were given Monday morning off to recover ...

I used to live in Brockly - it is a nice area and one of my chosen spots should I ever move back to the big smoke. There are some fabulous houses around Hilly Fields.

I'd be up for an Aug08 jive night.
My friend runs these classes if anyone needs to learn.

sequinedsteaknife · 29/09/2009 20:13

[can't spell emoticon]

RedLentil · 29/09/2009 20:13

Dizzy, the leopard print dress there is just divine. Except with my freckles, I would look like an actual leopard in it.

alittlebitshy · 29/09/2009 20:14

red oh no poor you. The worst chest infection i ever had conincided with our trip to nz 3 years ago, I serously thought I was going to die when we were stopped over in singapore. I had been on antibioticsa but clearly the wrong ones . as soon as we got to nz dh's aunt took me to her gp who gave me different antibiotics and steroids and it was gone in a flash. (a flash after a few long weeks of pain). poor you sorry your mum's synpathy isn't very extensive.

TwilightSurfer · 29/09/2009 20:42

Red might I suggest the addition of some probiotics to help your body fight the infection. {{{{hugs}}}} I hope you feel better very soon.

All these clothing posts make me want to shop. Can't yet though. No money.

my sympathies to all those of us suffering today, for surgical or bug-ical reasons. Now, I've never had a labour pain in my life but the spasms I have been having all day have been making me moo like some demented cow on and off .

On the plus front, I ate a slice of peanut butter on toast half an hour ago and touch wood, have only had 1 massive spasm since then. Bath soon then bed early

TS thanks for lovely new thread btw

cyteen I love that purple dress!

Steaky I vote you wear the black boots

StrictlySazz · 29/09/2009 21:31

Just popping on to say good luck steaky for tomorrow. Go girl, you can talk a good talk

Oh and i think i like the sound of the brown dress

hotterpotter · 29/09/2009 21:45

Steaky have I missed something, I thought your interview was next week? If it is tomorrow then eek! and good luck

cece sorry to hear you are in the wars today, hope you are feeling better very soon

Need to make a sleeping bag out of a sheet for DD in case it is warm at night while we are away. Oh, did I mention I was going on holiday on Saturday

StrictlySazz · 29/09/2009 22:01

I probably got it wrong . Have been packing up the final ebay bits tonight and someone just came and collected the dining chairs. Only the pram to go and we will be clear apart from the plies of baby and maternity clothes

sequinedsteaknife · 29/09/2009 22:13

Yes next week - I have found lots of useful websites about business and the arts. Very considerate of them to create them just for me.

My web connection has been hiding for the last hour or so, so I ^had^ to watch mastershoutchef and that choir thingy. Docnhca think Choirman would make a good Dr Who?

Jools Holland is on now but the band sounds awfully noisy [old gimmer]

Well done on ebaying Sazz Cece thanks for the advice I think I will be wearing the black boots.

Red aw poor petite legume rouge.

Wotcha TS have probiotics taken over from arnica as the thread cure all?

Blummin heck I'm hungry. Just ate an enormous portion of fishpie but the digestives and horlicks are calling.

sequinedsteaknife · 29/09/2009 22:14

ahh its Gladys Night now, that's more like it "woo woo"

LoveBuckets · 29/09/2009 22:33

Ooh some poorly folk here. Red are you actually feeling any better yet though?

Miamla Glad you got out and not surprised you felt wobbly about the whole thing. I myself am pretty sure I have something (currently painless) up with my rear end that may eventually need treatment but cannot yet bring myself to face up to it. Bloody kids eh?

Steaky Google Swishing Party and add to your corporate fundraising list. Simple to aorganise, eco-friendly and fun - bung on a buffetand a glass of wine and charge £10 per head. Plus heap of leftover businesswomen's clothes could be Ebayed for fundraising.

Oops Good news on your thyroid.

I am an auntie-in-law for the 1st time! BIL's wife had 7lb10oz baby Daisy first thing this morning, DD v excited and already planning a host of handicrafts in her honour.

Had great fun at Uke Jam last night, Kurt had his MMR this morning with hardly a whimper, lunch at Waitrose with my mum and sis, play in the park with Kurt who has learnt how to come downstairs. Have consequently rammed ill-fitting Lindam stairgate accross his surprisingly small doorway as up til now our split level landing has limited his bathroom mischief.

On another note, have sent DD's school photo proofs to headmistress for perusal as one of them seems decidedly inappropriate. Stupid photographers are obviously tryng to do Venture-style pics and sell big canvas prints but who would want a big school uniform shot above their mantlepiece? Consequence of it all is that perhaps some kids caught at right time in these poses come out looking quite disturbingly saucy. DH & I were quite upset TBH, she is 6 and we don't like the idea of people making her look like this. We just want a standard school mugshot to send to relatives!

VG It was trying to be one of those white background high key lighting kooky informal modern shots. Child lying on front, chin between hands, feet crossed in the air behind - fine with bright coloured mufti clothes. Now picture it with v pretty, tiny girl in bunches, school uniform and socks doing shy smirk = some creep's idea of Christmas.

TwilightSurfer · 29/09/2009 23:11

hi. night to most. got sidetracked by phone call then dinner guests. my eldest uncle and aunt popped by just as i took a pizza out of the oven. i take them food all time so not unusual dinner guests. it's only fair...i use to walk to their house when small asking for food. lol! my aunt use to be one hell-of-a-cook. anyway, both are very old now and i like doing for them.

oops i am very happy to hear about your thyroid results. one of my closest friends had the same problem and dealt with it nicely throughout her entire pregnancy. although she did score an early induction at 36 weeks which went flawlessly.

buckets how strange. good you are saying something. i bet you'll find you're not the only concerned parent.

dh is home and outside with the girls. the weather is crisp (finally). i expect the leaves to start changing soon. not before one more blast of heat though. i'm catching up on some odds and ends. see you all later or tomorrow or on facebook if you're up.

Morning all

DD slept fantastically last night from 7 to 4 then 4 to 6.30 the secret we have discovered is that she wants to get up the instant she gets into our bed so if I feed her in her room and put her back down in her room she goes back to sleep

Buckets - what a ridiculous school photo idea, they are supposed to be boring sitting up, naff books backdrop piccies.

Red - sorry to hear you are a poorly legume

Cece - hope you are on the mend now.

I am off to the bottom doc this morning I am so NOT looking forward to it then midwofe this afternoon to organise scan date

sequinedsteaknife · 30/09/2009 08:37

morning all - help yourself to porridge.

Well terrible night here and it was all my faulth.
I thought now is the time to stop bf at night because DD can sleep through but going in everytime is giving her a reason to wake up.
DD woke at 11.30 I left her 20 mins chunttering away and then went in to shhhshh her. One hour later I buckled and picked her up, she was almost asleep but woke up as soon as she went in her cot. So I gave her teetha powders and water - in case it was teeth/thirst.
Then I double buckled and fed her.
Then triple buckled and fed her in my bed.
AFter two and a half hours she finally fell asleep in my arms and then had to be settled in her cot with me leaning right in smooching her.
But she slept till 8 - as she should.
Feel very and tired this am with a big headache.

Mum is taking her this morning so at least I get sometime to mn prepare my interview.

oops good luck with the bum doctor and MW today.

AnnVan · 30/09/2009 09:21

Morning all!
steaky
I had a problematic night last night (although not as bad as yours Steaky) My intention to get Seb to bed earlier backfired Had him fed bathed and dressed for bed by 7.30 there followed an hour of absolutely hysterical sobbing and screaming. Nothing would calm him. Eventually resorted to calling in the MIL who, as usual, was fab and got him nicely calmed down by taking him out in the street to look at cats etc. But the end result wasSeb went to sleep at about 9pm (as usual) will try again this evening

LoveBuckets · 30/09/2009 09:36

Morning, big mochas with squirty cream all round then, plus those horrible dry biscotti things if you really want them.

Hmm, Kurt testing playing with new stairgate on his room at the mo. Weird that his bedroom door is too narrow to fit it properly when everything else in our house is stupidly big (bathroom door is 7' tall!) It is literally jammed in with brute force and only two of the rubber fixings in place. What's the worst that can happen do you think?

Now, Ikea are doing triangular coffee tables for just £3.99 this week. Factor in parking and that's £6. So do I go today (have nothing else to do) or wait til I order my kitchen and get free parking?

dizzydixies · 30/09/2009 09:44

Morning, I have a day of admin and housework so will try to pop on

buckets re photos - know what you mean though, the difference between DD1's photo when beginning P1 and her one at the end was unbelievable - like she'd aged 12yrs!! and another thing, you have to pay to park at IKEA???

just done my invoice/bill for the CM - fecking hell it stings - next month shouldn't be so bad as she's on hols AND the playgroup have just asked if I want an extra morning for DD1 after the hols - brilliant!

waiting to hear from the work this morning, we're all finding out which new Team (shift) we're going on to - I'm pretty sure I know as I had to request a specific one due to needing opposite DH but as you can imagine splitting 4 shifts into 5 and shaking everyone up is causing quite a stir

miamla · 30/09/2009 10:35

Lol oops! Its obviously bum week! I hope your appt goes well.just remember,he/she has seen a million bottoms and yours is just another one to be included in their career path

buckets do we need to give you a pf stare or will you book an appt for your bum to be looked at?

The nice lady in the bed with me left it 10years post baby to start getting hers sorted and another 10years later, she's still having treatment for it. In her case it wouldn't have taken so long to fix if she'd seen doctor sooner. So let that be a lesson to all of you!!!

Good morning to the rest of ya lovely ladies

hotterpotter · 30/09/2009 10:37

DizzyI hope you get your parcel OK Glad you have sometime to catch your breath before work again next week.

Buckets thanks for the mocha I am also at paying for Ikea parking, not that I have been for about six years, but soon, oh yes

Red hope you are feeling a bit better by now Does a blue RedLentil become a PurplePulse?
