Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
flippineck · 13/09/2009 08:48

The book is good, isn't it? It wasn't around when DD1 was weaning, but I had a flick through in Waterstones one day!

LOL at Sloppy Guiseppe! DD1 had a pizza with olives, ham and mushroom, she ate all the olives off hers and then asked for mine too. No chance, I love olives as much as she does.

FiByTheSea · 13/09/2009 09:02

morning we're on the most active list again!

I now don't feel so bad at not keeping up..

ladyhelen2 · 13/09/2009 09:07

DH is doing his stretching and then we'll toddle up to the start. I'll be back later to let you know how he got on.

And morning fi!

SpangleMaker · 13/09/2009 09:49

morning

ladyhelen good luck to your DH for the race. And well done you for running it yourself - I'm out of breath just thinking about a half marathon! In fact, typing that I am thinking about a marathon (snickers)

We'll do BLW partly because it sounds like it makes sense and partly because of the lifestyle factor. I'll probably try a bit of spoonfeeding occasionally if I'm having eg porridge/yoghurt but I won't persist if he doesn't like it. I think the hardest part will be the patience required as I can't see H being interested in eating for a while. He might suprise me though.

We let H taste (just lick) a bit of grapefruit today. His face was a picture!

Febes · 13/09/2009 09:57

Morning
LadyH Good luck to your DH and his run, great day for it.

Pula Your holiday photos are so nice. K is gorgeous!! The boys are too, S looks like he is growing well.
Sorry S is waking again lots in the night. I wanted to say my DS is also. He had a good week-10 around when he was 12 weeks but has been waking 3/4 times in the night again for weeks now. Last night was the best in ages with only 2 feeds. I guess we both just have hungry boys!

Not much planned for today. Going to have a quiet morning and then going to a friends for a bbq this afternoon. I hope the sunshines like it did yesterday.

Febes · 13/09/2009 09:59

sorry that should have said a good week to 10 days at around week 12.

pulapula · 13/09/2009 10:52

Hi Febes- I am sure S has grown a lot as he suddenly seems bigger and is filling out his 3-6m clothes already. Thanks for your comments on my photos .

S was a bit better last night too- fed at 2am, 4.40am, awake at 6 (so i fed him back to sleep as i wasn't ready to get up ). He has been waking at 11pm for his first feed so its good he went til 2am for a change.

pulapula · 13/09/2009 11:14

I am a bit excited (and nervous) as my sister might be having her baby pretty soon. She went in to hospital on Wednesday as she thought labour had started and had high BP so was told to go in. They tried to induce her on Thursday (her due date) but 3 gels and no progress . Think they might try induction again after a rest day yesterday...

runningmonkey · 13/09/2009 11:54

Morning all,

Hope your DH gets his time ladyh makes me wistful for 2005 which was my best running year - beat Lorraine Kelly in the London Marathon Am aiming to get back into it once I stop BF - can't imagine running about with these giant norks bouncing about

I am heading into town in a bit and am going to pick up the BLW book as I think its the way we'll go too.

pula hope your sis is ok and gets some progress soon.

Hi to everyone else, said giant norks are in demand x x

essenceofSES · 13/09/2009 11:54

Pula - that is v v exciting!! Hope all goes as smoothly and quickly as poss for her.
Have to say, I've just had a look at your piccies on FB too and your children are absolutely gorgeous!!!

Talking of FB, I think there's a few people that I hven't requested so I'll try and find a few minutes to do that today.

teething - the gel seems to be doing the trick now and I have my happy smiley boy back Makes me realise how difficult the last 3 or 4 days have been, poor boy.

ladyH - good luck to your DH. I have nothing but respect and a touch of towards anyone that has ever done a half marathon or more. I struggle to run down the road!

Well after not looking forward to yesterday with no one else around, O and I had a lovely afternoon and evening (once the teething gel kicked in!). At 9pm, I went up to bed and sat watching tv in bed. We then had quite a good sleep although O was in bed with me from about midnight, he then didn't disturb me to latch on again until just gone 4am and then again at 7am

Hope you're all having a good day!

SpangleMaker · 13/09/2009 12:47

Pula lovely photos. It looks like you had a fun time Good luck to your sis!

sleeping H seems to be going the opposite way to the other babies! He was having 2-3 feeds per night up until 3 weeks ago, but is now going through from 8pm to 4-6am (this morning it was 6.30am - he must have known it was the weekend ) then goes back to sleep until about 7.30am. The stupid, fretty side of me thinks, should he be having more milk, since he slipped down the growth charts. But then the sensible side of me kicks back in and says 'NEVER complain about a sleeping baby!'.

DH has decided to paint the back door this morning, filling the whole living area (small and open plan) with paint fumes, so me & H are confined to the bedroom or outside . It's a nice day though, so we might go for a walk later.

ladyhelen2 · 13/09/2009 13:56

Update on DH's half marathon - 1 hr 52 mins. 4 mins slower than last year but he didn't do as much training. Am v proud of him! He's having a bath now and is allowed a lie down for the next couple of hours till our (late) lunch is ready.

AM v impressed with you running! A marathon?? I think a half is pretty impressive but do-able for most people with training, but the commitment required to do and train for the full 26 miler blows me away.

pula best of luck to your sis. V exciting for you - and her of course!!

febes sounds like a perfect sunday. Hope the weather holds for the BBQ.

pulapula · 13/09/2009 14:08

Well done lordhelen lol- i bet he appreciates his bath and liedown. My DH has started running again recently (he had to stop last year when he fell whilst running and broke his wrist). He sometimes runs around 12 miles when he goes out for a run which is very impressive to me as i struggle to run a couple.

Well my sister is now in labour [excited emoticon]- not sure if it was induced or au naturel but her waters have gone, she has had an epidural and so we are all on tenterhooks waiting for news from her DH. This is a much awaited and longed for (and expensive) IVF baby so i can't wait to meet the little fella .

SpangleMaker · 13/09/2009 15:08

ooh Pula how exciting! You'll have to post some pics on fb so we can go gooey and get broody all over again.

Well done lordhelen

H is asleep and DH has gone off to paint something else, so it's ironing for me. Hmph. What happened to Sunday being a day of rest?!

Jael · 13/09/2009 17:10

Afternoon,
J was a monkey this morning, he did the hugest smelliest fart in church which was ultra embarrassing! and then as if it couldn't get any worse, when me and DP were up being blessed J decided to sick all over the pretty kneeling cushion! I just wanted the ground to swallow me up...

J is 18 weeks, and for now I'm just going to carry on getting up ang giving him 2 feeds in the night, it doesn't bother me. HV said she'll have a really good chat with me and is going to come round at around 22 weeks to talk about weaning, so hopefully alot of info i've forgotton will come back to me lol DP digged out our little magic machine yesterday, which does everything J will need though so I'm happy you basically put the vegeatbles in, and it steams them, and then puree's them, it's got tons of functions so depending on how old your baby is, you'll want the consistency of the puree thicker/thinner...it's also a bottle warmer, steriliser blah blah blah, I just like to use it to do all my baby food in, takes me no time at all.
When we were weaning DD, when she was a little older than 4 months, we still gave her "chunks" of food suchlike, banana, rusk, carrot, it just wasn't called BLW then...

Busy day for us tomorrow, I'm praying for a nice day, as DP has took the day off work to take DD to Drayton Manor for the day. I'm sure J won't remember seeing Thomas for the first time, and having his first ride on Thomas the Tank Engine, but i'll still take loads of pics lol

ladyhelen2 · 13/09/2009 17:42

jael we were at Thomas land on Fri! DS loves it. Hope you have a good day. Only tip would be to take a picnic as the food options are not only dire but expensive too.

Jael · 13/09/2009 19:37

LadyHelen It was a nice day on friday wasn't it? I hope we get a nice day lol fingers crossed lol we were planning on bringing a picnic, the choice of food on offer at theme parks etc is usually really poor and I have a DD who will not eat nuggets/chips lol Did you manage to do everything round the park?

pulapula · 13/09/2009 19:40

Just have to share my news- my little nephew arrived into the world this afternoon! He weighed a mega 10lb, and was delivered by emcs after some complications. He has red hair like my sister . Can't wait to visit, but don't want to put pressure on as i know what those early days are like.

Febes · 13/09/2009 19:44

Congrats Aunty Pula I'm sure she will be wanting to show him off. 10lbs thats a big old first baby!!

muddleddaizy · 13/09/2009 20:58

Congratulations Aunty Paula - very exciting! Bet you can't wait to meet the little chap!

LadyHelen well done to your hubby! Everyone sounds very sporty on here - I can't make it more than about a 100 metres down the road

We've had quite a naff day here. Ds2 has yet another cough and cold. I've had to give him calpol twice today and he's not settling unless being held by myself or dh I just want a clear month where he's actually 100% well.

Belgianchocolates · 13/09/2009 21:04

Congrats pula That must be so exciting to have another ickle newborn in the family. It'll be a great playmate for S too

Spangle is your living room now looking all lovely, fresh and clean? Hopefully the paint fumes have subsided by now.

ladyH Congrats to lordH (love that ) for running a full marathon. I used to accompany DH at to all sorts of running events and it was fun. As long as I didn't havoe to run myself I was happy . He had to stop ages ago due to health problems and now sticks to the occasional local fun run.

runningmonkey I think I've worked out why you've got your name. The running bit that is, not the monkey bit

We've had a lovely day here. It wasn't quite as nice outside as it has been, but still OK. The dcs and I were on our own today. I took C out for a go in my new mei tai and the dcs and I went for a walk exploring some of the footpaths around here. There are loads and we didn't know where they'd lead to, so it was a little bit of an adventure. But like spangle I spent most my sunday doing ironing and some cleaning too

Grumpyoldcaaaaaaaa · 13/09/2009 21:50

Evening all, S full of cold and leaving trails of snot and bogies everywhere, I have done nowt but bloody iron, cook and wash as it's changeover day.

DH not likely to be here until Friday and is bringing mate along, my mother will also be here

LadyH Well done LordH!

Pula Yay for your sister, God I'm broody now!

Jael I laughed so much at the church fart!

Oh Lord S is snottin' again.

Hello everyone else!!

Belgianchocolates · 13/09/2009 22:02

Oh, grumpy, your posts always make me laugh

Momino · 13/09/2009 22:28

hellloooo.
feeling a bit better today though still a bit tummy sore. cramping gone anyway. always a good thing.

ladyhelen, great race for your DH! hope he's got his feet up now.

runningmonkey, i'm a bit nostalgic for running as well. I've started running about 1 or 2x a week with friends. we go quite slowly but i have to wear 2 bras as even with my smallish boobs, it's uncomfortable.

BLW, we did a loose version of it for both dd1&2 combining finger foods as well as mashing food. i'd love to read Gill R's book as a couple of you have said good things.

pula, congratulations! that is great news, can't wait to see pics.

jael, would love a machine to do all my steaming, pureeing, etc in one go.

muddled, hope ds2 is feeling better soon.

spangle, painting here today as well. luckily a bit mild weather so we kept all doors/windows open to air out.
... ahh sorry, can i claim name check amnesty for the rest? it's getting late and i'm getting confused.

hope all are well.

SpangleMaker · 13/09/2009 22:35

what... was that?...

Congratulations Aunty Pula

Conversation with DH just now:
me 'do you think I need to, you know, revamp my image?' [meaning, you don't mind if I blow a load of cash on new clothes]
DH: 'I don't know what you mean' [nice try]
Me: 'Do you think I'm a bit frumpy?'
DH: 'You've just had a baby'
Me: 'you mean yes?'
DH: 'Well you don't need to get dressed up much these days, do you?'
