What a wonderful dh you have.

I feel like not telling dh yet. might make him stew a bit longer.

So sorry about the job.

So sorry the vibes of the Aug 08 ladies failed to do their stuff on the work front sazzles. At least it's only once a week . Glad to hear DH on best fathering form though. I broached the idea of going away for a couple of days later in the autumn to catch up with friends etc. without us all having to endure the journey together and DH was similarly thumbs up. So, London ladies, I may be coming your way. Does it count without my Aug 08 baby in tow though... .

Interesting chat earlier about what we're all doing with our lives. I always knew that I wanted this and took decisions that led me here (altering career plans for something that wasn't London-centric and would enable me to work part-time/take time out and get back in afterwards). However, it does therefore feel weird to be stopping at 2 DCs; it almost feels as though I should have more DCs to justify having taken this route rather than a more career focussed one. Oh well, DH says no and I enjoy our life as it is so I'l l feel lucky as a mother of two with an unfulfilling job. Would far rather that than a high-flying life with no DCs.

Sazzles An alldayer eh? What kind of 'ladies' are these? Hope you discover some of your London days can actually be done from home and they're actually just being precious.

Anyone fancy a bit of culture? This is the most amazing tune I just heard watching Vanity Fair on Sky+, really eerie and haunting. Feel inspired to learn it and try to work out some spooky harmonies. And OMG James Purefoy in Regency uniform makes my knees weak.

Sazzles - Sorry to hear the job news

I'm another of the thread's meanderers. I am still waiting for my ideal job to hit me. Like a few of the others my life's goal was to have and hubby, home and a bunch of kiddies. The nannying came about from wanting to work 1 to 1 with kiddies, I love the crafty things with kids and through it have discovered my 'arty' side. I am doing an OU BSC in health sience, a sugarcraft course and an Italian course - which should tell you something about me! More kiddies are defo on the agenda if they make their own way in! but if they don't happen I know I have the one child I was bargaining with God for before I fell pregnant.

Love the signing confusion - I was going to point Buckets to the fingers pointing down one but got distracted my DD. On the signing front DD signs milk, where (although she also uses it for all gone) and today she did a half hearted thank you.

Hi Miamla - we missed you!

Miamla - GOOD LUCK tomorrow. Hope all goes well and you are back on your feet soon.

poppysocks · 10/09/2009 21:42

I was about to offer you my good vibes for your op miamla, but you may not want them now Seriously though, hope all goes well.

V. envious of all your arty types on this thread. I filled a nice frame with pics of the girls, their handprints and a pic that DD1 drew of her and her sis for DH's birthday today. It did work out well I must say but DH did comment that he couldn't believe how artistic it was for me. I would add a or two, but actually he's right.

For the record I'd like to give credit to Miamla for passing along the incredible map of the London Tube System. I have studied and feel I could find my way if dropped anywhere. I'm a map person completely so when she passed it to me after our meet-up yesterday it was like Christmas in September. Strange aren't I.

Miamla I do hope all goes well in the morning. ((((hugs))))

Buckets you know I didn't even give it a thought that there would be a difference. Silly me. LOL!!

I'm tired tonight. I believe it will be an early bed for all.

Will see all tomorrow.
Night

Sazz sorry about the job. It's a shame we're not still in London as I was working in CW till we came here we could have met up.

Oops your post made me well up. I

TS LOL at the map reading. My brother was always reading maps as a child and was known as Mr Motorway for sometime as he knew where all the motorways began and ended! DH just gets frustrated with me as although I'm perfectly capable of reading a map I more often than not want to take him down country lanes because I like the look of them. I think DS has inherited my inquisitiveness as he never wants to go where we should be going and is always stopping to check things out

Miamla lovely to have you back.

We're off to Perth, WA tomorrow morning till 21 September so will probably be out of action till then. Looking forward to our first proper holiday just the 3 of us. Looking like DS will get to experience more cold weather as well . We're staying here www.yelvertonbrook.com.au/ so hoping DS gets to see some wildlife. A bit worried though as we're hiring a car and I haven't driven since leaving England 2.5 years ago!

Happy Birthday to Lana and Seb as I'll miss those whilst away.

oopsacoconut · 11/09/2009 07:07

Nez - It looks great. Don't forget to get yourself a souvenier pair of these

A good night here with a 2am wake up as normal then 5.30 in to bed with us and up for the day at 6.45. She is now wondering around with 2 sponns trying to feed me from her farm trough!

Sazzles - hope today isn't too long.

Miamla - Will be thinking of you today.

oopsacoconut · 11/09/2009 07:09

TS - I love maps too and can get us most places with only one look at a map or if we go somewhere once I can get us back there without a map, DH on the otherhand needs a satnav.

CaptainCaveman · 11/09/2009 09:57

And another work week is over , the days really do zing on by.

O now zzzzing but I was hoovering before I put him down. Picture this. Me in my pjs, hoovering the downstairs with O screaming and clinging onto my leg, slowly pulling down my pj trousers. Luckily for them, no one was passing by the lounge window or they would have got a most unfortunate eyeful .

The only downside to 2 weeks holiday is a very clingy baby at the end of it!

sambo303 · 11/09/2009 10:17

hello all, not caught up but just popping on to say thanks to sazzles we have epaderm and it seems to be helping. Also now on steroids and eye drops. Poor ds, looks a little better today but have had the most disturbed nights ever lately and we are all husks. off to catch up but with dp around and no tv and only one computer its a bit tricky

sambo i think I've missed it - what's up with little F? Whatever it is I am glad he is on the up.

we are like husks today too. a protracted wake up in the night (he had mmr yesterday so i think he felt a bif out of sorts. he wasn;t hot, but . ALso MIL is in hospital (c dehydartes (clearly not been eating/drinking); urine infection which has gone to her kidneys; on top of existing heart issues. Dh is stressed with trying to fit in seeing her and working. So the fact that ds has forgotten how to sleep thorugh (and the days with one wakeup now seem to be good nights) is not helping any of us.

I also think i missed Luck's update. What is your current predicament? (re name change)

eek ds awake. byeee.

AnnVan · 11/09/2009 16:05

Hi all
Once again I have not had time to catch up. Just popping on to say hi. Seb is with MIL so I can bake cake and cook food for the party tomorrow, so full steam ahead here.
I've recently got back in touch with an old friend in Sheffield. Last time I was in contact with her, her brother was in a full custody battle over his baby daughter (the mother had disappeared with her, refusing contact and had left no address etc) Anyway the good news was that he has now got full custody of his daughter. The bad news is that he was only given custody because the mum's new partner was abusing the little girl and she ended up in hospital with a broken leg and suspected sexual abuse Just can't believe some mothers stand by and let someone abuse their children. But at least this little girl had a dad who was fighting for her, and she is apparently now happy and healthy aged 51/2

anyway must dash to make the stuffing for the peppers

poppysocks · 11/09/2009 16:08

Sorry to hear of all the huskiness on the thread at the mo. Sorry too about your MiL albs.

Yes VG, DH can now see pretty well. Stitches out today and swelling now down enough to be able to decide it's all been worth it. Rather frighteningly though, for the first time ever, he can actually see me first thing in the morning and .

Gorgeous morning here so drove straight past planned toddler gp and went to the beach instead. All rather noisy here today though as the RAF base down the road is having its Air Show tomorrow and all the planes are practising their loop the loops. All very impressive, but not doing my headache any good. Having loads of them at the mo so thinking I should probably get my eyes tested. Preferable to googling 'recurrent headaches' I think .

lwfh · 11/09/2009 16:15

Hello everyone,

Sorry for the bad nights and the poorly babies.

My ILs are looking after DS while I recover for a bit today as I had D&V and he has had a temperature for about 2 days now, so not much rest in the LWFH household. I am listening to them chortle away happily, which is very nice. Also DS has been exceedingly cute while ill, happy to sit next to me, have a cuddle and read books, which he will never usually do.

On the upside my sister and partner arrive tomorrow for two weeks, hurrah. I hope that we don't give them our lurgy. It has gone round all our baby group, which is a big shame, and a bit stressful when it comes to meeting up, but I guess that these things happen.

I love maps, almost as much as I like lists. I have a great collection of maps which got shipped here when I moved as even though they won't get much use in Argentina they are clearly too important to leave behind.

Re: career/life. Interesting chat. I spent most of my 20s studying and when it came to working instead I got married and moved to a country where my qualifications aren't recognised.

I sometimes find this really hard, but mostly wouldn't have things any other way. DS is truly fab, this is a great place to bring up children and I think that DH is a saint so definitely the right choice. Also the part time work I do online at the moment is OK enough that I don't feel completely adrift from a career and fits in nicely with however many monsters turn up in the coming years, although it's not what I want to be doing for ever, so I guess that we will see how things are then.

Thoughts for all, and ALBS I hope that your MIL is OK.
