I'm guessing that would be wine flu then.

(the only remotely funny joke ever created by my mother)

No wine-flu here, I only had the two glasses.

Sazzles you could dilute the jam and before putting it into squeezy bottles et voila! Sazzles own brand fruit shoots.

Nez hope the injections go okay today.

Ladies, I have a (possibly TMI) announcement: my period is back! How mental is that - returning the day before my baby is 1.

Have surprised myself with how pleased I am about it. Also it explains why I have been such a megabitch all week

VG that's it exactly. It mirrors the shift in my thinking/feeling about a lot of things - almost ready to stop breastfeeding, for example - DP and I both agree that life is kind of back to normality (except with added wonderful DS), rather than the complete 'wtf?' chaos of life with a small baby, and having my period back is definitely part of that.

Plus it hopefully means I'll be able to get up the duff again whenever we feel ready (NOT NOW)

Sazz ahhh bless your little L Glad to see you've got the hidying habit ingrained at such a young age too

steaknife · 31/08/2009 20:08

Evenin' all. Whenever I type that there is a little 1950s Pinewood policeman doing a knee bend in my head.

Oh blimey I should give up now as the drivel has already started.

There was some packing today, not much and the afternoon was drinking coffee with my Canadian blogger friend and then going on an improptu trip to the nature reserve. We saw ducks, Izzy ate dirt - loverly!

Cyteen glad the bod is doing as it should.

Sazz awwww. I guess she figured being naughty wasn't drawing you in so being good would. Is she settled now?

Just had mansteak around for supper. Iz wasn't settling and he huffed and he puffed and I eventually sent him in and she went off in five mins. This after she rolled over and snoozed in 30 seconds yesterday. [sigh]

This was supposed to be a nice evening to say goodbye to our marriage, but mismatched expectations again. That plus he is still really, really awkward around me. So he ate and ran. At least he left me the end of the bottle of Sancerre, my favourite wine. So I may have wine flu tomorrow.

Hellooooo All

We have had a wonderful day here. I took Sazzles cue and we went fruit picking at the local pick your own. The stopped on the way home to pick elderberries. We had lunch at the pick your own and DD hadeaten her weight in fruit. We have a freezer full of raspberries, redcurrants and black currants and DD has a large punnet of blueberries. We couldn't pick strawberries as they have a swarm of wasps in the strawberry patch. I have made a large batch of elderberry syrup which is good for those up coming winter colds and is yummy on pancakes and swirled in muffins. Next is raspberry jam, redcurrent jelly and if I can find a blackberry patch then blackberry and apple jam.

DD had the paddling pool out today and LOVED it.

Cyteen - yay for your period being back.

Going to catch up now.

oopsacoconut · 31/08/2009 20:37

Hi Steaky - Sorry to hear your evening wasn't that great but is not wine o'clock so enjoy.

Hi VG

For those who haven't already seen there are piccies of my adorable DD on FB.

steaknife · 31/08/2009 20:43

Ah I'll get over it.

steaknife · 31/08/2009 22:05

hellooooooooooooooooooo

helloooooooooooooooooo

anyone there?

hellooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

cyteen · 31/08/2009 22:12

I'm here steak, joining you in wine o'clock solidarity.

Just taken DS's birthday cake out of the oven; I was a bit worried as the mix looked a bit curdled when it went in, but it tasted okay and the cakes smell delicious. Have made carrot cake for pretend health benefit

I also made a fatal discovery today: that I can, in fact, make a rather good apple pie Hot Mamas look away now. DP was in pastry heaven.

steaknife · 31/08/2009 22:20

Glad you're here I was going to have to do the washing up otherwise.

And oooh apple pie. What you need there is some clotted cream.

cyteen · 31/08/2009 22:22

I know. I feigned virtue by having mine with half-fat creme fraiche while DP piled on the ice cream.

DS certainly enjoyed his pie though He is so hilarious at the moment, and so adorable too. Hang on, I'm not supposed to be getting overemotional until tomorrow.

oopsacoconut · 31/08/2009 22:23

Cyteen - carrot cake sounds very virtuous! and apple pie sounds delicious. enough with the food now or I will get into trouble!

Hi Steaky - are you heading for wine flu?

oopsacoconut · 31/08/2009 22:26

Cyteen - DH thought I was nuts when I got all emotional yesterday - I even made sure I was awake at 5.15am the time she was born - I stood looking over the edge of her cot amazed that the tiny bundle I gave birth to was now a walking (attempted)talking totally scrummy independant girl. [sob]

steaknife · 31/08/2009 22:29

might have a wine sniffle but not enough supplies for full on flu, probably a good thing.

That plus I have all the packing I should have done in the last week to do tomorrow. Not sure 24 hours will be long enough. [lazy emoticon]

cyteen · 31/08/2009 22:33

I know, all day today I've been looking at him and remembering that small, soft, squeaky creature with the sleepy eyes. Remembering him as he was first in my arms. Now he is a curly-haired bruiser who sticks his tongue out of the side of his mouth in concentration when he crawls or pulls himself up to stand. It is amazing!

Luckily for me DS arrived at 2.30pm so no early rising required although I'm sure he will have other ideas.

steaknife · 31/08/2009 22:46

Ah Cyteen you always write so well about your wee man, lovely, thank you.

Trying not to think about 1 year ago as so much has changed and well, you know.

Sausageandmash · 31/08/2009 22:50

To all of you - just squeezing in here to wish all of your little ones a very belated, but heartfelt, Happy Birthday! Sorry, I've been away (on holiday, and before then, for about an age!) but didn't want August to pass by without congratulating you all on the fine jobs that you are doing with our rather gorgeous August babes - they, and you, are amazing!

steaknife · 31/08/2009 22:50

I think that's me for the night. Better go and blub into do the washing up.

Night ladies and sweet dreams.
