Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Frizbe · 16/01/2010 14:01

Our nursery school is next door to the big M, so no avoiding it here! dd2 is slowly getting into writing things, not a studios as her elder sister though

Thanks for the update CSWS

About to endure a bowling party with dd1, wish me luck in entertaining dd2....

mustrunmore · 16/01/2010 14:43

Urgh, bowling party. Noisy and manic and dirty food room ime! Left ds2 at home, but if I'd had to take him he would have een poking eound looking for coins in all thetrays in the games machines

Phoenix · 16/01/2010 20:25

Mrm - I felt a bit cheeky asking for it so i didn't. Then we found out that the Eye wasn't running while we were there anyway. We did go to madam tussauds but got cheaper off peak tickets. But thank you very much for the offer

London is very busy. 2 days was enough, i could never live there

We got back today and our stupid boiler is broke so its bloody freezing here. My dad's coming to have a look tomorrow but i think we'll end up ringing British Gas.

Lewis can write his name (sort of) and he knows how to spell it.

Frizbe · 16/01/2010 21:20

Oh no, no boiler that's not good in this weather Phoenix, glad you had a good time in LDN though

Bowling disaster, dd1 got a ball dropped on her toe by meri's ds total accident, but lots of wailing....meri's poor boy was mortified...she's all ok now though, so phew, but it put paid to the day bowling for her....she managed the food though, so couldn't have been all bad! MRM dd2 played happily on the not working car video game! before imposing herself on dd1's mates

Phoenix · 16/01/2010 22:18

I know Friz, it's fecking freezing. Our house is quite cold anyway normally but not this cold. We've got the fire on in the living room so that's ok. Lewis has got a new duvet (13.5tog) so while he's wrapped up he'll be warm and Noah ends up in bed with me anyway so he'll be warm enough too. Hopefully we can get it fixed soon.

mustrunmore · 17/01/2010 15:27

Phoenix, dont ever do that again.. just ASK!

Friz, sounds like when ds1 dropped the heaviest weight of bodybar on his toe. Ouch. It was black for weeks

Dh bday today. Cinema. Then tried pizzahut but they'd behaved too long, so meltdown during lunch

SparrowFflamau · 18/01/2010 18:04

dh got a promotion (not the job he applied for). not much in the way of money, but more interesting work etc

Frizbe · 18/01/2010 18:46

yay for Dh Flame, so nice to hear some good news take it his boss is still the same person though?......

Phoenix, have you got the boiler sorted yet?

MRM its not that bruised on the surface? odd eh!

My turn not to work tonight (we're doing a weekly swap on mondays) so I shall be mainly reading a book later (she says hopefully!) which one I have no idea, I have so many on my stack!

Phoenix · 18/01/2010 20:14

No Friz not yet. We signed up to that British Gas cover thing where we pay so much a month and get unlimited call outs blah blah blah...so we're covered if it goes wrong again. Cos the boiler is already broke though we have to pay the first £99 now. It could cost a hell of a lot more though so in that case its not too bad. They're coming tomorrow so fingers crossed.

for dh Flame.

CantSleepWontSleep · 19/01/2010 14:07

Oh yay for dh's job flame - hurrah!

How are things between you two now - any change?

Can't believe how many people have had broken boilers during the cold snap!

SparrowFflamau · 19/01/2010 14:10

meh. good n bad days. some days are great and it is as if nothing has happened, then he drops into a low mood again (which were normal before) and I get all worked up again

Phoenix · 19/01/2010 18:18

We have heat and water. The fan was broken.

CantSleepWontSleep · 20/01/2010 14:42

Friz - thought you might like/be sad to hear that Cadmum has lost another baby.

Jas · 20/01/2010 18:43

Good news re boiler Phoenix.

I am officially computerless. Mine can not be brought back from the dead and is now in the bin
I will try and check in when I can, but with no online time in the evenings, and absconding boy around in the afternoons I have very little time I can get on here any more.

Frizbe · 23/01/2010 10:18

for Cadmum, I wondered where she'd been this week, thanks for letting me know CSWS.

for no computer Jas, I hope you can get another one asap, we'll miss you in the meantime!

for boiler fix Phoenix, its not fun with no heating or hotwater eh! Talking of boiler probs, I saw a horrible scare story on the news the other night (luckily no one hurt as they had an alarm, but there was a family the week before who weren't so lucky), and I dragged my bottom to Wilkos yesterday and got a carbon monoxide alarm, which is now situated in our living room, but I think I'm going to get another for dd2's bedroom, as she's above the garage which contains the boiler....sadly they're a lot more expensive than a smoke alarm, but worth it if it saves your life.

Waves at everyone else, hope you're all having lovely weekends? we have dh's larp friends staying this weekend, they're all running around the local woods today and tomorrow! I get the kids

Jas · 24/01/2010 11:07

Hi all,

mrm, I got your text last week, but am useless at texts....if I don't reply immediaTELY (I WAS ON SCHOOL RUN AND LATE) THEN I FORGET (sorryabout caps) i will reply now I have remembered though.

We still have no hot water, but dp has got a big tea urn type thing (been in the loft for years) which heats it up quickly for washing up and washing hair. we just have to use a bucket in the bath for a diy shower for now, and go swimming alot.

Computer for me is fairly low on the list of things we need as you can see, but I am hoping to get one again eventually, and am on during the day occasionally up here.

Anyone want ffp reusables? I have a nice red fleece wrap and a few assorted bamboo nappies lying around waiting for a home.......
Let me know if anyone wants them (or knows anyone who might), as I'm only looking here and book circle at the moment so have lost touch with everything else.

Frizbe · 24/01/2010 16:05

Fingers very x'd that you get boiler up and running soon again Jas, you're not having much luck at the moment

Did bath and nit check this morning here (as lots of people for dinner tonight, started as just Meri and her family, but has grown, as these things do....) and found 2 friggin nits on dd2 again she had none when I did my last check on them on Wed, so its someone at nursery again dd1 is clear, and from what I can tell I am, gah! will we ever be rid of the bloody things?

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/01/2010 22:43

Blimey - you're a very nitty family Friz!! I'm touching wood, but we never had them as children, and none for my dc yet. Just lucky I guess!

for all your probs at the mo Jas. Have you managed to find a solution for escaping boy? Theoretically I could use the nappies, but I'm not very diligent at actually bothering, so do give them to someone more deserving if you can find someone! What size is the red fleece wrap? Is it the tots bots one, and if yes then do you know what size? We did use ours on ds over his night nappy when he was little, as he used to wet through otherwise. Have no idea whether no 3 will be as soggy!

I am still engrossed in primary school apps. Need to ring some contenders tomorrow and try to squeeze in a last minute visit, as we can't make our minds up what to do. Are the rest of you all done now?

Phoenix · 24/01/2010 23:00

for dead computer and no heating/water Jas.

for nits Friz. We never had them at our house when i was a kid either csws. I remember my cousins getting them but we never did. Neices and nephews used to get them all the time but i haven't heard of them getting them for a while. I'm hoping my 2 never get them, i'd die

Apps for primary school here closed in November. We find out where he goes in April but he won't start until Jan 2011.

CantSleepWontSleep · 24/01/2010 23:16

won't start til jan? when's the cut off? Here the sept-feb babies start in sept and the march - aug start in jan.

mustrunmore · 25/01/2010 09:19

School app done, noe panicking till we find out in April. Cut off was early Jan I think ,but obv i was done way befoer that! Everyone keeps tellin me not to worry, tyhat he'll get in on sibling. But ds1 was the only nureset kid not to fget a school place on the firsrt round, plus we had twins at nursery who now go to 2 diff reception schools

Jas, I know you're rubbish at contaqct btw I've alwys got tons of free mins so I dont mind calling you back if youre stoil on pay as you go. I do that with most pepole!

We got had nits for a year, touchwood. Kis had worms not long ag othough, so tat was 6.89 for the familt pack of tablets. I used to get them contantly as a kid, hope the boys havent ingerited my susceptabillty.

Jas · 25/01/2010 11:01

I assumed school apps had closed here. I did ours ages ago, at the same time as dd1s secondary one.
All ours start in Sep here....some schools have them all full time. Ours has the post April births part time til Jan.

DD1 has had nits once in 10 years. The rest of them never I used to get them all the time though.

The red wrap is tots bots. large I think. I don't know any real nappy users any more. My friend who did is fairly slack with this one, but as he is her 5th, I am letting her off

So far a chain on the door is working to keep ds inside......of course it only works if we all use it though.

CantSleepWontSleep · 25/01/2010 12:43

how mad to split 4 months and 8 months rather than 6 and 6 Phoenix!

Frizbe · 25/01/2010 14:34

Its bonkers the school admins, they should all be the same, dd2 is still adament (SP? no time to spell check!)that she's not going in Sept! so that will be amusing....

Friggin nits are a hangover from Xmas, when nursery mixed the pre school class with the holiday club, as not enough members in either to justify staff on the day after the bank holiday.....everyone got nits from one of the holiday club girls........ and pre school have not gotten rid of them since.....despite notes on the door, letters to parents etc. I'm not sending dd1 to holiday club there again, as I cannot afford the hedrin on top of the club fee, I'm better off just being off work unpaid that week/2 weeks/6 weeks. There is obviously one parent who is too busy working to de nit their child

Am down in London tomorrow, but sadly no time to meet up with anyone, as its a quick whisk into Olympia for Toy Fair, then out again!
