Hello all, well Poppy is progressing rapidly now - she keeps standing up on her own like a little jack-in-the-box, up-down-up-down, and yesterday DS had some little friends over and she just grabbed this little ride-on plane thing we have and just walked off with it, pleased as punch! There's some video on FB if anyone's interested [proud mummy]. I don't think she's quite brave enough to try solo just yet though.

We've got our big meeting at work this afternoon where they tell us the results of the 'consultation' period, i.e. that they're going to ignore all of our major concerns and go ahead with their ideas. I haven't told anyone at work that I'm pg yet as it's so early still, and apparently the plan is to have THREE WEEKS of interviews (there's only seven of us!!) so there's a way to go yet. Essentially the best thing for me now would be to actually get one of the jobs going, or to take whatever redeployment job they offer, as I think maternity leave would be more ££ than redundancy and I wouldn't get both as I got pregnant after I knew this scenario was a possibility. I'm not usually so materialistic (honest) but they've treated us so badly throughout this whole thing that I'm just thinking f**k 'em, do what's best for our family. So on the one hand it's not an ideal time to be pg, on the other hand this is why we decided to go for it, these lovely little people that make up our family are what it's all about at the end of the day, the rest is just small stuff. Don't sweat the small stuff!

Having said that, I've woken up the last two nights around 3.30am and then it's taken me over an hour each time to get back to sleep, am exhaaaauuuuuuusted.

Apologies for long post, needed to rant a bit!!

disneystar1 · 16/09/2009 12:10

hi all

took samuel to brantano? or similar today to get his first pair of shoes and hes a 3 1/2 F they dont stock them that small and these were clarks so a trip into town is needed .

everything sort of ok here good and bad days but everyday in front of my boys im just normal mummy ive got to take him for regular swabs now until his operation, apparantly its routine,
also our new car wont be ready till sometime in november which is a pain as we so need a reliable car back and forth to oxford each day or rather my dh will be i wont be leaving him not even for a minute,
were going to eplain to the boys this weekend about samuel and some things will be different for a while but we will try to carry on normally as much as we can for them, school etc....the school are fantastic and will keep them till 5pm everyday that week, if needed.

everything else the same im here alans away , hospital appts 4 this week for 1 son 2 for another and my other sons new wheelchair finally arrived its a lightweight kids size so he can learn to push himself
im also looking for a cleaner as my disabled son is so messy its not his fault as his skin is so bad whenever he moves it just sheds all over, i have a nurse to do his meds at night now and skin routine, so i only have to do it 3 times a day now, and we have respite for him but i need the car to take him there.

going to do ironing now, wow the excitement is too much to bear here

bebejones · 16/09/2009 19:31

Is it me or is all the type on this thread suddenly gone bold?

LilyToTheB · 16/09/2009 20:13

Hi Everyone, how are you and your babies all doing?
I was on this (original) thread when we were all preggers, and haven't been on here for soooo long!
So you're babies are all 1 by now?
Hope all's well

cass66 · 16/09/2009 20:17

yep, bold here too...

bebejones · 16/09/2009 21:00

Wave to Lily!! Hope you are well?

Right, quick question for those in the know.... Pre-School/Playgroup/Nursery (call it what you will) what do you do? SIL's HV has told her to think about registering her 9month old. I have no idea...no one has mentioned anything! Am I way behind on this? Not planning on sending P private or anything. Just was hoping to send her to playgroup that is sort of, but not really, attached to our preferred (state) primary school! Had a look at their website & am baffled. They do accept the nursery grant thing (whatever it is called) and she can attend from 2 1/2 (although prob 3 for her as she is an August baby!!) Just DH and I have absolutely no idea what we are supposed to do! Do you get sent stuff automatically when 'it is time'or is it up to you to go out & get info & register/apply?? Hope one of you lovely ladies can help I feel very confused!! (Although that doesn't take much!!)

Have got horrendous earache, nurse has told me to put some olive oil in my ear....best go do that before bed so I have time to drain it out and not leave a grease mark on my pillow!!!

cass66 · 16/09/2009 21:52

easy baby, go into the school/preschool and ask to register/put her name down. then they should send you details nearer the time. I've already done this for Ed, although as my other two are already at the school it was easy.

You might need to put her name down for rainbows (from age 5, before brownies)/gym club etc in your area too...crazy I know but....

ponto · 17/09/2009 00:54

Yes, better to try to find out about nurseries early if there's one you particularly want. I assumed I would be sent stuff automatically but that's only the case for school admission, not pre-school. So I missed the deadline for dd2 last year and she didn't get a place until September, instead of starting in January.

Bold type is puzzling me too, I assumed it was my computer (I always assume it's something I've done whenever anything goes wrong computer-wise).

ponto · 17/09/2009 00:56

Just did a quick search - it's all the postnatal threads that are in bold, not sure why

bebejones · 17/09/2009 08:24

There is only 1 preschool in our village that I can find, there is one in the nearby town and 1 in the next village. So confused by it all. Am going to go along to their Mother & Toddler group when I get the chance, then I can suss it out. Other than that it's all very expensive nurseries....Montesori and the like, which I (even at this early stage) don't think would be right for P!

Re bold type...it's getting quite irritating, looks like we are all shouting!!!

Poledra · 17/09/2009 09:01

Morning all! Have been away on business and didn't have internet access so a bit behind with all the news.
Was the first time I'd left O, so I was a bit stressed about it. She was fine when I was away, but when I came back on Tuesday night, she pointed both forefingers at me and shouted till I picked her up from her highchair. Then she didn't let me go till I put her in the bath. It's nice to know you've been missed

My washing machine has started working fine again, strangely! DH came home, found the black washer that had fired off from the hot water hose and fitted it again and since then, no problems. We can only think that the washer/hose had worked itself loose, and that's why the machine was leaking. I'm most surprised as the machine is

mama2leah · 17/09/2009 10:22

waves

will b bak later

Rumpel · 17/09/2009 17:31

Hi all - waves to LILy M2l+A

Busy here. Took kids swimming Monday which was fun . DD being a total brat at the mo' [grr] Tuesday C was supposed to have his MMR but her has a viral rash now so put off again for another month or so. Took them to the park to expend some of DDs whinging then I went to the gym in the evening.
Yesterday I had a netmums meet up. Today kids are at nursery so went off to the gym, housework, finally got around to painting some moreof Cs room a shark, stingray and boat and coral. I'll probably finish it by the time hes a teenager

BEBE - go see a physio - they'll be able to help release the trapped nerve. I know I had no idea about preschool until my friend who is a child minder told me I had to go in to get the forms to fill in - I thought you got sent them too. How on earth are you supposed to know these things? I'm hoping DD will be starting in January - will be so nice to get a bit of time off from her - boy she's hard work at the mo'!

SK - still on 20mg, CBT course just started this week - feeling a bit better due to meds, forcing myself to get out and do things. How are you anxiety wise?x

JODIE - yep DD 3 on the 4th October. I know I am sooo loving being back at the gym - I've managed to lose 2 lbs so far this week - still a long way to go but feeling better already. You are v busy with 2 jobs and 2 DSs.x

DISNEY - don't know how you manage with all your family's ailments - you deserve a real treat. 60 minute makeover or glossy mag make-up/fashion stint thing. Would you like that or are you too much of a control freak?

Must go see to dinner before kids and Dh descend upon me.

Only 10 days until holiday - hurrah! I'm trying to get a cheap quinny zapp at the mo for hols. So selling my petite star zia to fund it.

take care all
xxxxx

ponto · 18/09/2009 14:22

Hi all, just checking in. Good to see you back Poledra, long may your washing machine continue to function.

Bryony's thumb infection is looking much better but there is still no sign of her going back to sucking it, cue extreme grumpiness when trying to get to sleep. I think she's had a sore throat too, her voice sounds hoarse (though it could just be overuse due to all the screaming!)

Dh has been away for a couple of days and I am frantically trying to tidy up all the mess before he returns - he has turned into a real nag about the state of the house, my theory is he's really stressed about work and is taking it out on me

DoThisDoThat · 18/09/2009 17:55

OMG, I have been away so long. I just wanted to wave hello and say congrats to all the pg ladies. Will catch up on all the news and post a, possibly, coherent blether later.

DoThisDoThat · 18/09/2009 17:58

oh, it's me, DonutMum. Think I'll change my name back. I get confused!

pigleychez · 18/09/2009 22:05

Hi Ladies..

Well attempt to catch up after my hols..

Cass- Ed sounds like hes keeping you busy!

Jodie- My Anuty is keeping it a secret for now.. However im pretty sure It wont stay a secret for much longer!! I look Huge! I put a pic on my profile that DH took on tuesday- Obviously NOT one for facebook yet!

Glad Oliver liked his scooter and had a good birthday.

Ponto- Glad you enjoyed Bali... Not at all!!
Glad you managed to continue breastfeeding

Minnie- Poppy sounds like shes doing really well
Hope the job situation goes your way.. what a nightmare

Disney- Abigail is a 3.5 F and hers are Clarks.

Lily- Hope you are well

Bebe- Agree with the others about putting her name down somewhere.
The Government funding starts the term after thier 3rd birthday and intitals you to (5 I think) free 2.5 hours sessions.
There's no set time to send them to any playgroups/ pre school. In my experience its nurseries -Usually private are the ones that will take them at this age. Pre-schools and school nurseries start from 2.5-3.
But as the others say. Theres no harm putting her name down early if places are limited.

M2L- Hope your doing well

Donutmum- Hope you well,, Am I right in remembering that you are in Bahrain?

Well Holiday was ok. Abigail was abit unsettled and had some moody moments. Plus being out and about her daytime naps were allover the place, adding to her moods. There were also plenty of tears from me too. I was getting cross with Abigail for being moody and then getting cross with myself for getting angry with her, then eneding up in tears thinking im a bad mum and worrying about coping with two.- Hormones!!
Despite that we did have fun. It was very blowy on the coast and alittle chilly but was dry which is the main thing.
On the way back today we visited Cholchester Zoo.. Fab day which we all enjoyed
Will add Photos to FB later.

Thankfully No MS here...in fact no nothing! I feel fine. DH has to keep reminding me im pregnant. ie telling me off for playing on the climbing frame whilst in the adventure playground with Abigail

Hope the job hunting and interviews pay off for you

Minipink- Sorry to hear about your Nan

Disney- Yes def Expanding! Which photo is that? I had real trouble upload those pics last night so things got abit confusing as to what I had put on and what hadnt. Not sure if its just FB being pants or my dodgy temporary internet at the mo.

Abigail has been giving me some fantastic cuddles lately. She lays her head on you and leans in saying "ahhhh" She been really loving and strokes my hair... what I do to her. Occassionally gets abit over excited and ends up with a handfull of my hair!

Talking of that... not sure if its pregnancy related but my hair is falling out all over the place... Gonne be bald by the time the baby comes!

libralady · 19/09/2009 22:54

Oh my god all these babbas due and SK again!!!!!
Congratulations to all.
Hubby is on a stag weekend in Spain so I'm left entertaining the boys again. Never mind, just 12 days till we all go away as a family with my Mum and Dad. Off to Kefalonia again to celebrate my 40th birthday and our 10th wedding anniversary. Hopefully it will be a little less stressful than last year.

bebejones · 20/09/2009 20:51

Very quiet here today!

Pigley - looks like you had a lovely holiday! Can't believe the bump already....twins?!

Welcome back Libra!

Just discovered that some cheeky buggar has been using our wireless!! We have password protected it now, things have speeded up a bit! DH has ordered me (thanks to his company) a new Netbook so I can do internet stuff when he is working! Think he is trying to cheer me up! Plus it means I can help him out with work stuff that I can't do on my Mac! It is an early Birthday/Anniversary/Xmas pressie! I changed my mind about the camera, think I will wait a bit!

I'm feeling pretty rubbish at the moment TBH. Numb patch on my leg is getting worse & spreading. I just know it's an MS relapse, my face/head feels weird too, they tried telling me it was a trapped nerve in my neck for 8 weeks last year before the MS was diagnosed. Just feelling so low, and desperately hoping that I am wrong. If it is a relapse they will want me to go into hospital for treatment & start meds, I don't want that at all! Plus my earache is no better & my balance & coordination is shot to pieces, have been knocking stuff over, dropping things & tripping up all weekend! It's just so frustrating, feel like I am falling apart! Plus because I have been feeling so sorry for myself the diet has gone out the window this week, I swear I have put on half a stone (been too scared to weigh myself!)

Sorry to moan, just feeling pretty sorry for myself and hard done by, I'll snap out of it in a couple of days I'm sure!

sweetkitty · 20/09/2009 21:36

hiya everyone, feeling so rough here like a constant hangover and constantly shattered too, oh why am I doing this again? I blame B if she wasn't so gorgeous I wouldn't want another.

She is a wee star, walking everywhere now and trying to run after the big 2, she doesn't know what the game is but she chases after them and does her excited scream. Weighed her today and she is 20lbs now still looks dinky and too wee to be walking, have started putting her in her 12-18 month clothes which are too big but she needed some new clothes, all her trousers had holes in them from crawling. Molar 3 and 4 are coming in too they look so sore poor wee thing.

bebe - aww poor you, you rant away wish I could come over and bring cake and make you ea, was checking out your wedding photos on FB you look stunning love your dress beautiful. Am so of you getting a netbook, keep dropping hints but DP keeps saying no I will disappear upstairs and he will never see me

libralady - good to hear from you, sorry about the redundancy but looks like you will have something else soon. Yes I am duffed up again insane I know but this is so the last so trying to enjoy it. Am Kefalonia is beautiful, so relaxing.

pigley - I am telling you I could beat you in the showing stage, will have to take a pic, weighed myself too and I have put on 4lbs since last time how can a peanut weigh 4lbs? B dies the aahh cuddle thing too sometimes to the sofa or anything close, she was trying to brush DD2's hair today (hitting her with the brush) and playing hairdressers which was throwing hair clips at DD2's hair when DD2 plays hairdressers I end up with every hairclip in the house on my head, B must be seeing all this!

Disney - aww Samuel sounds so cute and lovely he is learning new words too that boys just astounds us all, he's going to much you so proud

minipink - so sorry to hear about your grandmother, so hard isn't it, I went through similar with my Granpa years ago and it was cancer and he was in pain and sad as it seems in the end he wanted to die and we wanted him to die too, I think old people just "know" sometimes
