What's everyone up to today?

BoffinMum · 01/08/2009 08:08

I am going to start getting things together for our holiday, as we're off next week. I am also going to send a little care parcel to DS1, as he rang us from summer camp last night and is a teensy bit homesick (although he told his sister he has found a French girlfriend).

BB, has Karahan got one of those door baby bouncer things? Felix likes his (but is a lot more gentle from the sound of it).

PuzzleRocks · 01/08/2009 08:10

Good morning.
Lunch with my favourite sister and favourite brother.
Then getting my house straight for a visit from my girlfriend and her husband tomorrow.

Blimey, standing, teeth, what's going on? Orbit can't even roll over all the way yet....

PuzzleRocks · 01/08/2009 08:11

We are digging out Ellen's old bouncer later.

BB K sounds like my friend's baby back from when I had DS1 - first to crawl, first to stand, first to run. She was an absolute bundle of energy and now at the age of 3 is still the most active child I've ever met. Buy some running shoes now and get in training!

Springy - sorry to hear that things are no better on the marriage front. Don't you dare feel bad about mix feeding, it sounds like you desperately need some sleep/peace and quiet. Sending lots of hugs.

surprise Orbit slept through the night at 13 weeks too - sadly, he's now given up again. Enjoy the silence, that's what I say (oh and ignore your HV!) Is her nappy nice and full in the morning? (E's, not the HV's...) Cause if it is then she's not dehydrated.

Orbit can weight bear on his legs very well, but definitely can't pull himself up on anything - BB is K sitting yet or did he pull himself up from lying down? I'm very impressed.

Having said that Orbit would beat any other baby hands down in a squealing contest, I have honestly never heard a baby make such a high pitched screaming noise. And almost constantly! Am considering investing in ear plugs....

My Calin Bleu sling has arrived and I'm most disappointed. It's NOT Amazing Amber. It's more like muddy-lentilweaver-Buddhistmonk-dull-orange. I'm going to send it back, and on reflection might get a Mei Tai instead.

Tchah.

Friends coming over for a takeaway tonight - I took DS1 and Orbit to the zoo yesterday so we are exhausted. If there's any going out to be done today DP can do it!

brettgirl2 · 01/08/2009 09:46

GGGRRRRR!!!!!

I just spent ages typing out a message and then accidentally deleted it .

BB K sounds like a brilliant little monkey .

I have been putting Hannah into the door bouncer for a while (although obviously not before 3 months ) She likes it for about 20 minutes (like everything really). She can roll over but is crap at sitting up, even when supported, she just sways!!! When she's cross she'll also take her weight on her feet and is teething!

Surprise my HV says there are three things you can't make a baby do - feed, sleep and poo. If baby needs feeding then they will wake up. I can't even force bottle feed mine, so entirely understand the problem. She usually sleeps from 7 to about 4 but if she's going through a growth spurt or something then she wakes up again at about 1. I really don't worry about it any more.

Springy, it's lovely to hear from you, sorry things are still on the marriage front. You have absolutely nothing at all to feel bad about in terms of George, but just make sure that you take full account of your own feelings. If you feel bad, even though it is completely unjustified it may not help with pnd IFYSWIM?

Bicnod · 01/08/2009 09:52

hi all - still no bloody laptop. grrrrr. oscar still bunged up with snot and coughing poor litle mite. he's waking on average 5 or 6 times each night although i only feed him at 2 of these... i'm so so tire. got him weighed yesterday, 17lb 6oz at just under 14 weeks. ridiculous! typing on dh's on phone so can't do proper catch up but love to all x x x

brettgirl2 · 01/08/2009 10:13

On a lighter note - does anyone else's DH dress the baby in clashing clothes? Hannah has just been given to me wearing a green orange and grey polka dot top with salmon pink trousers .

BabyBolat · 01/08/2009 10:35

Hello am super grumpy as I can't have my tattoo done as I'm breastfeeding - grrr dh is having his done while I'm sat outside sulking like a child!!! Tis ok though me and nutts are having a tattoo party as soon as I'm done!!!

To be honest I don't know how he did it one minute he was led on his tummy playing with his toys by the sofa I popped to he kitchen to put he kettle on and when I came back he was up leaning on the sofa merrily hitting dh's laptop with his fist!! Yes I'm a bad mother I leave my child alone in a room!

Wfh - good lord I hope kit I'd be quite happy for Jim to stay in the middle of the pack and not run me ragged thank you very much!!!!

PuZzle thanks for the info! Oooh boff where you off?

Brettgi - Dh and clothes - no mines the opposite tries to dress k to perfection which drives me equally insane!!!!

Boff thought about a door bouncer but I'm worried he'd catapult himself out of it!!!

dawntigga · 01/08/2009 10:37

Lol brett dp won't dress ds without consulting me extensively first. It's quite tiring I have the attitude as long as he's warm he's ok

We do however, all have a cold. Dp of course thinks it's H1N1 (I hate the term swine flu) but having checked the temps nobody is even close to 38 degrees. DS is feeding every 20 minutes and I'm longing for the time he fed every 2 hours.

Nutty, good luck x

PuzzleRocks · 01/08/2009 11:35

Nuts - I'm sending you every positive though i've got. You go girl!!!!!!

BB - That never even occurred to me. I guess it will be a while before I can get mine too then. Pah

BoffinMum · 01/08/2009 11:37

Nutty, IMO just don't mention the HB at all, that worked for me once. Maybe mutter about renting until the market hits rock bottom and it's a good time to buy. Ask about local private schools as well! And whether there's a handy branch of Waitrose nearby. And do they know a good gardener. {grin]

Do NOT repeat do NOT allow the words porridge gun or man meat to escape from your lips whilst viewing!!! Supress any Tourette's tendencies!!!

BB, LOL about the catapulting thing. Can I video that for YouTube?????

PuzzleRocks · 01/08/2009 11:37

thoughts too , you can keep the though

OP posts:
BabyBolat · 01/08/2009 12:25

Nutty big big fanjo warrior strength to you smel pants x just be your fabulous self! Oh how funny would I be if you did that "so are the white goods included and does the kitchen come complete with a porridge gun?"

Puzzle I know - it's nothing to do with the ink he concern is that if you had a reaction to the tAttoo the infection could pass on to the baby so the risk is small but still there - still glad my tattooist was honest enough to ask rather than just do I for the money! Dh's is very nice though x

what horrid weather!! We are off to my parents for the rest of the day - what to do!!

Quick question I want to get some wind up bath toys for k like boats and ducks - any ideas where from?

surprisenumber3 · 01/08/2009 12:29

Thanks all, I'll try not to worry about her feeding then. But Bicnod's baby was born same day as E and weighed more or less the same but now is 3 lb heavier! E was 14 lb 5 on Wednesday and is 14 weeks tomorrow. I really wonder if I don't have enough milk for her. I have been trying to drink more (I never feel thirsty so hardly ever drink unless I think about it!) - reminds me haven't even had a drink yet today! Need to set an alarm or something. But yes, WFH, she has a really wet nappy in the morning.

Nutty - good luck girl with the house, fingers (and everything else) crossed for you.

Where you going on hols Boff?

Ha ha, what DH puts E in is shocking!

BabyBolat · 01/08/2009 12:33

Surprise gosh don't worry she sounds like she's doing great - k is 17 weeks today and 14lb ish and I'm not at all worried! He's strong and full of energy!

Sorry for the crap spelling and missing letters am on my phone!!

surprisenumber3 · 01/08/2009 12:40

BB - K certainly sounds strong! I think the HV are getting me down TBH. They promote BFing so much but now she's gone down from 91st to 75th centile they mention 'topping up her feeds' with a bottle.

I don't want to (stroppy)

dawntigga · 01/08/2009 12:51

nutty fanjo warrior strength being sent right now!

suprise screw the hv's. I bloody hate those charts. Did the drop come in the matter of a week or was it more gradual? Is your dc well/developing ok? The charts are a bloody guide not an absolute!!!!!!

If you need me to come over and be stroppy on your behalf I'm more than willing to!

If your dc was still in the 91st centile they would be harping on about being to heavy! Check out the new charts which are based on bf not formula:

www.who.int/nutrition/media_page/en/index.html

What does your child come out on them?

BolshyButSnottyTiggaxx

bronze · 01/08/2009 12:53

BB- Just to scare you more ds1 whos always been advanced (working two years ahead now, walking at 9 months) didn't pull himself to standing this early. Think you're going to have your hands full

DH doesnt dress Izy so I have no idea. He does get the other kids combos alright most of the time as long as he gets the right clothes for the right child.

I think I need to do more to stimulate Izy. I do give him periods of laying on the floor etc but I'm wary because of all the elephant feet around. Nias constantly pushing him to high in the chair so would be terrified of what she would do if he was in a door bouncer. I hope I'm not stunting him in anyway

surprisenumber3 · 01/08/2009 12:58

Thanks Dawn, on that chart she is right in the middle of the 0 and 2 lines. It has been gradual, not a huge drop all of a sudden IYSWIM.

brettgirl2 · 01/08/2009 13:12

Those charts just show what the 'average' baby does. Some babies are born big and end up smaller (maybe yours) and some are the other way round (Kara). My brother and I were 7.5 and 7.4 respectively and we have grown to 5'10 and 6'!!! Birth weight is only loosely related to final size. Plus babies that get taller quickly stay thinner because it takes more energy to actually grow than pile on weight.

I'm so sorry nutty, maybe some good luck vibes may help in case you are still there?

BabyBolat · 01/08/2009 13:24

My hv is great and I have a bring chsrt in my book hat she uses 1 I just checked and for 16 weeks an average baby can be anywhere between 6.25 and 7.25kg so she is absolutely fine you hav another 0.5kg either side of that before they start going out of what is considered healthy! Hvs can make u obsessed with weight and thAT stupid blArdy chart!!!
