MrsG!
Well, fun and games today in Maison de Boffin. DD came rushing into the kitchen shouting 'Crisis! The ceiling's collapsing!' and which point I had a major adrenaline rush, charged into the living room, and found a modest drip of water descending from the ceiling at regular intervals. Nevertheless this was the same problem we had in late June when the insurance company loss adjuster came around, a week after I first asked them to send someone and after I had had it repaired (I thought), the very same grumpy bugger who refused to look at the pipework on the grounds that he didn't have any tools to take the front panel off, and grumbled that this was due to poor maintenance and us failing to replace our mastic often enough, so we weren't covered. It was also the same spot and identical problem that the insurance company were supposed to have indeed repaired in late 2006 with a two year warranty for faulty workmanship.
Anyway, I got my nice plumbers out again, they dug and delved up there, and I find that we now know exactly what went wrong. The shower was not installed properly twelve years ago and needs to be pulled out, reinstalled, the shower room retiled, and all gaps sealed. They showed me the problem and I think they're right.
My question is, am I covered for this sort of thing or not, or will I have to shell out £££ to put this all right, bearing in mind I have had this supposedly 'repaired' twice, once by the insurance company and once at my own expense?
Flipping showers. Flipping houses.
