That ulx be bfing chart - stupid predictive text

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 01/08/2009 13:45

surprise it's definitely true as well that some babies 'find their centile' at the beginning - DS1 was born on the 50th but gradually descended to the 25th and has been there ever since. Now a happy, active 3 year old who has been following the 25th centile beautifully.

So you can be born big from a combination of factors like what the mum was eating and how late you were and things like that, and then drop quite a lot to find your ideal place on the chart.

Orbit was born on the 98th and when last weighed was on the 75th, haven't had him weighed for ages so not sure where he is now.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 01/08/2009 13:47

bronze I worry about that with Orbit too - he gets to spend much less time on his tummy for instance than DS1 did, and more time strapped into his bouncy chair just to keep him out of the way of DS1's more boisterous games.

I worry whether I'm holding him back, as he's not rolling yet and can't hold his head up as much as DS1 could at this age, but I think even if it's true that first babies do stuff earlier due to more opportunity, I don't think it matters as they all get there in the end.

And watching their older siblings' games is lots of mental stimulation for them, whereas first children only have Mummy shaking toys at them, so it's swings and roundabouts, iyswim.

BoffinMum · 01/08/2009 18:42

Thank god the smut is back. I had been worried.

Well ladies, if you remember during my immediate postnatal phase I had a wobbly moment (literally and figuratively) when I had trouble getting into a pair of size 22 Tesco jeans.

I have been to Asda to buy a capsule holiday wardrobe (off to a lovely little town an hour from Munich in the mountains by the way, lots of blonde men in leather shorts! ) and I now easily fit into a size 18! I am also 14 stone 6 on the gym scales. This is despite scoffing an entire (small but calorific) packet of posh biscuits the other night. There is hope!

Yay boffin mum aka slim Jim!! That's fab well done u - I must get back to Nell tomorrow!!!

BoffinMum · 01/08/2009 19:45

Thank you BB.

At this rate I will be a size 12 by the 2012 Olympics. Ready for the SPD high jump using my crutches.

Bicnod · 01/08/2009 20:17

oh suprise sweetheart, your little one is growing just fine. oscar is on the 98th znd anyway he's a boy and they tend to grow faster, so don't compare my giant baby with your gorgeous perfect one, you are doing everything right.

oscar is in his cot in nis own room according to dh is supposed to sleep in there all night i feel like i've abandoned him

Schulte · 01/08/2009 20:32

Bicnod - he'll be fine but if you miss him just bring him into bed with you and keep him there after a night feed Is he okay now?

Surprise seriously, if H slept through the night I would be singing several halleluiahs and not worry about her not feeding enough. You lucky thing!

So H has one red nipple, looks slightly swollen too and maybe ever so slightly enlarged. The other is completely normal. Does anyone have an idea what this might be? Is it okay to wait till Tuesday and show it to the HV then?

surprisenumber3 · 01/08/2009 21:28

Thanks Bicnod, I know they all grow at different rates really, was just have a wobbly moment after what the HV said. all better now thanks to you lo

Boff - well done on the weight loss! fantastic!

Not sure about the nipple thing Schulte. I would just keep an eye on it and if it doesn't go down or gets worse maybe call for advice? Could H have banged it or dug her nails into it/pinched herself? Or is it more internal looking?

BoffinMum · 01/08/2009 21:39

Schulte, I bet she's scratched it or something daft like that.

dawntigga · 02/08/2009 07:05

Schulte DS is always doing something like that as he likes to scratch a lot!

Anyone else going through the open and closed fist thing whilst feeding? I've taken to wearing tops that reach my neck to stop my chest looking like mince!

BoffinMum · 02/08/2009 08:51

Dawn, my hair is coming out in total lumps thanks to Felix's interventions whilst playing with me.

Schulte · 02/08/2009 09:54

H likes to fiddle with my t-shirt while she feeds. She's also started to firmly turn her head the other side when she's had enough milk, then she just lies there waiting for me to pick her up and burp her and won't be coaxed into drinking a bit more. Quite funny really. DD1 never ever rejected the boob when it was offered to her!

PuzzleRocks · 02/08/2009 09:56

Yippee. Our friends are coming over today. We haven't seen them for 7 months. The sun is shining. BBQ time.

Good morning. I hope everyone is well rested.

Am skim reading but not had time for a proper catchup. Left DH in car with two dses but Tigga, and others getting mauled whilst feeding, do watch out - DS1 (admittedly when he was about 18 months old so much stronger) pinched so hard he killed some fat tissue in my breast resulting in a lump that had to be checked out at the hospital - v.v. scary (as I didn't realise that was what had happened and GP was obviously horrified at the lump) - so don't let them pinch too much!

Incidentally the only negative comment I've ever had for extended breastfeeding was from the horrid consultant doing my breast exam.

BoffinMum · 02/08/2009 12:42

MrsG!

Well, fun and games today in Maison de Boffin. DD came rushing into the kitchen shouting 'Crisis! The ceiling's collapsing!' and which point I had a major adrenaline rush, charged into the living room, and found a modest drip of water descending from the ceiling at regular intervals. Nevertheless this was the same problem we had in late June when the insurance company loss adjuster came around, a week after I first asked them to send someone and after I had had it repaired (I thought), the very same grumpy bugger who refused to look at the pipework on the grounds that he didn't have any tools to take the front panel off, and grumbled that this was due to poor maintenance and us failing to replace our mastic often enough, so we weren't covered. It was also the same spot and identical problem that the insurance company were supposed to have indeed repaired in late 2006 with a two year warranty for faulty workmanship.

Anyway, I got my nice plumbers out again, they dug and delved up there, and I find that we now know exactly what went wrong. The shower was not installed properly twelve years ago and needs to be pulled out, reinstalled, the shower room retiled, and all gaps sealed. They showed me the problem and I think they're right.

My question is, am I covered for this sort of thing or not, or will I have to shell out £££ to put this all right, bearing in mind I have had this supposedly 'repaired' twice, once by the insurance company and once at my own expense?

Flipping showers. Flipping houses.
