Newsflash - Orbit just rolled from front to back

Guimauve · 24/08/2009 15:48

Hurrah for the weight gain Mrs G! That's, what, 7oz or so? Excellent work. Hopefully E will continue on a lovely upward curve now. On the whole I think there's very little good research on weaning, much like milk feeding. It's not really something you can double-blind or placebo control. When I am free to move I'll see if there are any refs in the blw book.

Re: verrucas - something like Bazuka should be fine. The leaflet even says it can be used. Like you, I would imagine the freezing thing is completely safe and the only reason the warning is there is because they haven't been tested in pg and lact. Not sure exactly what it uses though. I suppose it is really just like holding an aerosol spray to your skin! The only thing you must avoid is anything with podophyllum in it, but I don't think there are many products available.

Hi Kazz!
What WFH said. Give them both a combo of purees and finger foods, but Ollie will have more of one and Izzy more of the other.

Guimauve · 24/08/2009 15:50

Cor, that took an age to type!

bebemoo · 24/08/2009 16:04

WFH- yippee rolling over!

Kazz I agree with the mixing of the purees and finger foods too...very messy, but let him fdig into the purees with his chubby little fingers and see what happens If nothng else it'll be a great photo opt

Yeah Boff is back! Wonderful that you had some lovely holiday/family time

Feierabend · 24/08/2009 16:06

Swali, have posted on your potty thread. How is DD2?

Orbit, well done for rolling!

Kaz, B52s, nice to see you!

Boff, glad you had a good holiday. Bloody annoying about the nanny though Mind you if this is the kind of person she is, you wouldn't have wanted her to look after your children anyway, would you?

Went on a shopping spree today. Just couldn't resist some of the Baby GAP things...

Guimauve · 24/08/2009 16:06

Yes please!

So Mrs G, do you think that weight gain is just down just to the avocado et al? Have his milk feeds been any different?

Are you doing the classical 'introduce one food at a time and nothing else new for a few goes' sort of thing? Or something more relaxed?

bebemoo · 24/08/2009 16:43

Gui very cut bag

Boff- horrible of the nanny really. More notice would have been nice at least

bebemoo · 24/08/2009 16:47

cute

Swaliswan · 24/08/2009 17:42

DD2 is coming along nicely, thanks. She only has to wear her harness at night time now and we only have to go the hospital once a fortnight. I did resort to giving her a dummy yesterday because I was so exhausted and about to drop her. I'm sure that's why she was up every 2 hours last night wanting to suck herself to sleep on my boob but clearly not wanting to feed properly. At about 5:30 this morning I was so sleepy that I left her to grumble endlessly whilst hoping that DH would stop pretending to sleep wake up and deal with her. The next thing I know, it's 7:48 and we're all waking up to start the day.

bebemoo · 24/08/2009 18:01

swali it's so good to hear abt the harness and less frequent hospital visits. Poo abt the restless night

BoffinMum · 24/08/2009 18:10

Yay about harness!!!

Who is Bebemoo btw? And Guimauve?

bebemoo · 24/08/2009 18:25

bebe=blue
gui=ju

kazkiss · 24/08/2009 18:56

Hiya!

(really must arrange meet up pinicy park thing before we go back to work!)

Hope everyone is well, Glad you had nice holiday Boff. Booooo about nanny.

Thanks for all the input re: weaning. And I am gonna do what you say. sounds like a good idea.

Had horrible wake up call today as it is payday and have eventually gone on stat mat pay only. shocking!!!

woohooo for orbit. he sounds soo athletic!

Izzie is much more active than ollie and moves round the floor like a fast tortoise! Whereas Ollie is much more vocal and has started a quite annoying but sweet schreacy/ screaming thing when happpy./

everythign seeems to be going so fast and I only have about 9 weeks till i go back to work. Which is giving some wobbles.

kazkiss · 24/08/2009 19:00

Oh and I have made my augusty resolution to post more on MN rather than read and run!

dawntigga · 24/08/2009 19:02

Waves to all,

We are definately going blw as I'm far to lazy busy to do otherwise

Hurrah for the weight gain MrsB MrsB I love my Ameda pump - 2 boobs at once! I made a holder for it using an old sports bra by cutting an x in each boob. Robin calls me his fem bot when I express Also, it keeps its value on ebay so I can justify the expense

Am a coward I know the next jabs are a set of 3 so I made Robin take the day off to come with me next week! It's not for Sam - he'll be fine after a mo on the boobs - it's for me

bebemoo · 24/08/2009 19:09

we use little lambs and totbots tigga- we love them

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 24/08/2009 19:14

tigga - itti bittis are very good, they're the ones I'm coveting at the moment!

Boffin - rubbish about your nanny. what a homecoming.

bebemoo · 24/08/2009 19:29

so ladies whose dp's are gone during the week..do you actually make dinner for yourself or do you ready meal it? -i'm feeling guilty because i bought all sorts of ready meals, but i know that i often times can't be asked t cook for myself...

Feierabend · 24/08/2009 20:00

Ready meals all the way, Bebe. I currently have a pizza in the oven. Or sometimes I have a big lunch in a cafe and then just a sandwich in the evening. As long as you eat lots of fruit and veg as well, and a healthy breakfast, I can't see anything wrong with ready meals. Except that they don't taste very nice.

LOL at pumping bra - nice. Must look very attractive

Hazel had a hissy fit earlier when I bathed DD1. Normally Hazel comes in for a dip too while her big sister is in the bath but her skin is getting dry so I thought I'd just let her watch in the bouncy chair. Uh-oh, she wasn't impressed! She only calmed down after listening to the hairdryer for a few minutes.

bebemoo · 24/08/2009 20:16

lol at H Feiera They're really starting to exert their likes aren't they?

I ate sandwiches last week when I was home and felt a little sad, but I agree that they're great when one's not particularly hungry. I've got some spinach ricotti lasagne in the oven now and some fried garlic and courgettes for a side with a slice of bread/toast (Italien restaurant night at chez bebemoo)

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 24/08/2009 20:23

oh my god, I just found the most enormous spider whatever we're calling them now in DS1's room. I am very proud of myself, I moved the lamp and there he was, about three inches across and really black. I managed not to scream or anything - just a sharp intake of breath and 'Oh DS1 I'm just going to ask Daddy to come up here a second'....

DP did the hero thing and has put him outside.

Ready meals, pizza, leftovers here too when DP is away. Or the big lunch tactic.

Orbit has a hissy fit most nights when I'm cooking DS1's tea, can't think of a way of stopping him. I put him in his bouncy chair as I need him to be somewhere safe, and he's really tired and grumpy as it's nearly bedtime, so he normally grumbles and screams the whole time I'm cooking. Sigh.

Feierabend · 24/08/2009 20:34

I can't deal very well with the sound of H crying - it almost hurts me physically, it's such a horrible pitch. Would Orbit go in his sling or is that too hard on your back?

In our house the animals who must not be named get killed, not taken outside. They might come back in! Oh, and talking about you know what, DD1's nursery had a visit from a zoo today and she got to touch snakes, giant snails, rats, stick insects and other nasties. She loved it though!

dawntigga · 24/08/2009 20:39

Am I the only one who doesn't mind the crawlies?

Don'tShowMeAWaspUnlessYouLikeHystericalTiggasTiggaxx

Feierabend · 24/08/2009 20:41

Ha ha, give me a wasp any time

Guimauve · 24/08/2009 20:47

But wasps are very mobile. At least unmentionables are often fairly still. Hence my major problem with daddylonglegs - flying unmentionables.

What is the code word? Shoelaces? Scouring pads?
