Quick post as overseas data roaming rates. Health problems which need advice. Juwes, dh has wart, yes actual wart, on nose which keeps bleeding. Can you freeze warts off noses? WTF should we do about it bearing in mind we are on holiday???

Also everyone I appear to have a prolapse. Eeeek! What to do???? Will I need an operation?????

mathshoneybunny27 · 10/08/2009 08:21

((Boff)) sounds like a stressful holiday atm! NO medical advice, sure Juwes will be on shortly to advise. Have a slice of toast and marmite and a cup of tea though

BoffinMum · 10/08/2009 08:34

Tea? Toast?marmite? In Germany?

Tea is shit here, toast doesn't exist as people eat solid peasant bread, and as for marmite ... Luckily I hate it anyway. :.)

Not a nice feeling to have insides falling out.

Btw mm glad to see you back xx missed you.

Bronze, sympathies about house and children. DD scrubbed highly prized silver cutlery wedding present set with Brillo-type pad to get it clean once and it was ruined, all scratched. Had to go to bed for rest of afternoon, so sad.

BoffinMum · 10/08/2009 08:36

Schulte, do not get me onto the evils of Zwieback.

surprisenumber3 · 10/08/2009 08:44

So tired....no sleep....over active thyroid kicked in well and truly. Heart racing all night, mind doing overtime although I wasn't really thinking about anything! Got up for a walk around the house three times! Just as I drifted off (somewhere between 5 and 6 am), my neighbour and her son starting shouting in the garden after the dog. I actually cried! (had bedroom window open).

Boff - keep squeezing! I felt like my insides were dropping out a few weeks ago, not so bad now unless I walk a long way or run. Won't need an op necessarily, there are cones and physio you could try first. Would see GP though, best to get sorted sooner rather than later. Enjoy hols!

Have a good day all. I have a busy one. Am going to the centre to book baby massage class this morning, visiting friend and her 4 children at 11, then baby weigh this afternoon. Am working this evening. Oh yeah and need to fit some housework in amongst that

Schulte · 10/08/2009 08:54

Boff sorry to hear about prolapse and wart. No idea I am afraid, but have a nice Butterbrezel instead of the toast. What's wrong with Zwieback?

Madame H is trying to go to sleep, which means shouting and holding on to the cot rails above her head

Surprise, poor poor you. My thyroid went into overdrive after DD1 and I had months of insomnia so I know how you feel. I then got Hashimoto's disease so now it's underactive and I have to take thyroxine for the rest of my life. How did you know you didn't need to?

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 10/08/2009 08:58

maths that sounds like a good result! I'd heard early weaning could help with bad reflux, really glad it's improved life for you .

Boffin sounds like your holiday is a bit trying! Have no useful advice other than to make the family do everything for you. I'm a fellow Marmite hater, so entirely understand your feelings on that front.

surprise sorry to hear about your night, sounds very trying. Is there anything you can take/do to help with thyroid problems?

Orbit has sat in his Bumbo a few times, but he never looks very happy, so I only do it for a few minutes at a time. If I need to secure him somewhere I normally use his bouncy chair, which he loves. Ds1 never got on with the Bumbo, he only sat in it occasionally.

Slightly better night last night - DS1 came into our bed early on and DP exited for the spare room. Orbit only woke up once but was then awake for an hour after his feed, smiling and squeaking at me and wriggling. I wasn't quite so smily as it was 3am....

surprisenumber3 · 10/08/2009 08:59

were you prescribed anything Schulte? Not sure whether to go to GP or not. Really don't want to start meds and stop BF yet. When I had it before I started Carbimazole which apparently take 6 weeks to get into system properly. However, my levels started dropping after 2 weeks so wasn't the meds and when I came off the meds my levels stayed fine. Had blood tests every 6 months for about 3 years. So was glad I didn't agree to the radio-active iodine or else I'd be on Thyroxine too for no reason.

I had a really weird sensation in the night. I was awake but I couldn't move or speak. Felt like I was screaming but nothing was coming out. Couldn't move my body at all. Freaked me out to be honest. Anyone had that?

Schulte · 10/08/2009 09:09

Surprise, no it was only a few months later, when the Hashimoto's was discovered in a routine blood test, that GP and I concluded I must have had post partum thyroiditis. So I never took anything for the hyperactive phase, just suffered and got skinny

Are you sure you weren't half asleep still? How long did it last for?

surprisenumber3 · 10/08/2009 09:24

Not long, I really forced myself to move and eventually did but felt like I had magnets attaching me to the bed, was so strange. I must have been asleep but awake!

I would like to get skinny but don't like the insomnia or anxiety and irritableness.

I don't know too much about Hashimoto's.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 10/08/2009 09:25

surprise I've heard of that happening, it's called sleep paralysis

here

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 10/08/2009 09:26

possible factors include:

Irregular sleeping schedules; naps, sleeping in, sleep deprivation

Increased stress

i.e. having a new baby!

surprisenumber3 · 10/08/2009 09:29

thank you WFH, that is interesting! Was a bit scary though.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 10/08/2009 09:31

always wanted to study sleep - if I ever go back to university (my current goal) it'll be to study sleep or memory.

Juwesm · 10/08/2009 09:49

Sorry, Boff, no real advice re: wart. Imagine it could be frozen off on nose, but think any facial warty things should be checked by a doc. I wouldn't be inclined to use any Bazuka-type stuff on it if it keeps bleeding. Do they not have any kind of fabulous drop-in health centres? Bear in mind the 3rd rule of dermatology: If you pick it it will never get better!

surprisenumber3 · 10/08/2009 10:05

Sleep is very interesting WFH, my mum used to work where they did the sleep deprivation studies, very interesting!

Have once again phoned child benefit office as it has now been 13 weeks since I sent form off. Have been told someone will call me back Tues/Wed or Thurs!

How do we go about getting the government children's bond grant thingy? isn't that related to child benefit?

Have booked E onto baby massage, baby sign language and into the sensory room - she's going to be busy in September!

mrsgboring · 10/08/2009 10:20

Morning all - have bribed DS1 with oatcakes to get some computer time

Bronze you poor thing. It is so depressing trying to bring order out of chaos and you've got far more chaos going on than I have.

Maths great news about the weaning. DH is desperate to wean E but I'm trying to hold out till he's had his op, despite background fears my useless body is starving him. The sleep improvement is very encouraging.

Boff sorry about the continued health problems. I don't know anything concrete about either of them, though I think they take extra care with facial warts etc. purely because letting your GP freeze or lop it off could cause scarring. DH has had dermatology appts. and found it a ridiculously relaxing experience compared to all other medical attention.

Not tried E in a Bumbo yet - might get it out of the garage later. DS1 hated it but he also hated the bouncy chair and E rather likes it.

I have been a brave girl this morning and chased a wasp out of the house, and also rung two architects about a possible extension (was stupidly scared/shy about this. How I ever managed to have a job I really can't fathom).

mathshoneybunny27 · 10/08/2009 12:55

hee hee mrsg i am funny about phone calls too - i bet nobody knows tough as I've (fairly successfully) concealed it phoning parents is a complete nightmare for me.

Bronze remember the 2nd law of thermodynamics - entropy increases with time. So no point in trying to combat it too hard...

Ok, so no toast and marmite then Boff- how about fairy cakes and excellent German coffee? Hang on a minute, if it's imaginary, how about bloody mojitos and a massive plate of fudge cake.

Juwesm · 10/08/2009 13:14

Is a bloody mojito a bloody mary/ mojito cross? Vodka and rum and mint and tomato???

Juwesm · 10/08/2009 13:15

MrsG, slap on the wrists, your body is not useless - we just have tiny acorns!

Juwesm · 10/08/2009 13:16

Which, on reflection, makes it sound like I mean we are limited in the boob department, which was not my intention!

surprisenumber3 · 10/08/2009 15:29

Oh my goodness my hair is seriously falling out!

mrsgboring · 10/08/2009 15:46

Sadly no tiny acorns on my front. I don't think even coconuts does quite justice to it

mathshoneybunny27 · 10/08/2009 15:46

mine too surprise!

Juwes rofl yuck yuck yuck

mathshoneybunny27 · 10/08/2009 15:47

and speaking of boobs...just bought this (major bargain)
