Schulte I did not buy any candles - have I broken the law?

Also nearly walked out with an under the bed storage box but spotted it just as I was having an ice cream! Went back and paid - good job I didn't get home or I'd have had to go back!

So:

Under bed storage box
Some whacky coloured tins
2 Pots to go on Sam's changing table
4 magazine holders
A wooden letter organiser thingy
A small easle for putting piccies on

From Toys-R-Us I bought:

A curly toy thing for Sam's car seat
A set of cushiony things for the straps on Sam's car seat as dp managed to lose 1 of them whilst putting the cover back on after it was washed

Oh and Sam slept through to 0540 this morning

dawntigga · 08/08/2009 13:01

Schulte sorry about the night wakings Sam use to wake up every 2 hours and I'm sure he isn't going to carry on sleeping this well esp as he's got 2 teeth that look like they are going to come through soon. He's had the rosey cheeks, the gums are red around the teeth, he's drooling for Britian and he's very grumpy!

bronze get the kids ready tomorrow morning then go take the dog for a walk and leave not-so-d-h with them! Take a VERY long walk. That's so selfish!

dawntigga · 08/08/2009 14:19

Coughing, burping and being sat up is not a good combination after a feed. Que one sick covered fanjo

Made me giggle though.

mathshoneybunny27 · 08/08/2009 17:33

I have been...metamorphosing from a lazy wife and mother-of-one to a domestic goddess mother-of-two. Obviously

No rolling here! But plenty of puking. Especially in the fanjo/crotch area - seems to roll down my flab and collect there..

dawntigga · 08/08/2009 21:18

Hands up - in the air!

Who has been invited for their weaning chat?

Hello everyone, have missed you all! Nice to see you there, Maths!

Have being wanting to come on and catch up for days but everything has been so busy and I have just noticed some birthday wishes so thank you for those Had a lovely day and had some lovely pressies but the best one of all was that Evie rolled over and giggled for the first time, both on my birthday! She hasn't rolled again since but has been giggling loads today and I love it - although I do admit I have made her sick from laughing, horribly mummy!

Catch up time....

Bleu - I always get post-natal thyroid probs, they are just kicking again now, but mine was over overactive thyroid, or thyrotoxicosis, or hyperthyroidism - so many names for it! Not nice, feel like you're on speed (not that I know what that is like, but that is what my Endocrinologist likens it to!). Basically I end up being awake all night, cleaning and feeling anxious for no reason, feel shaky, heart races and I lose about 2 stone in a month, then it settles down and I argue with docs about not needing Carbimazole or radio-active iodine to kill my thyroid and while we're all arguing about it, it sorts itself out! Believe me, if I had listened to them I would have no thyroid gland now and be on Thyroxine forever but hopefully this time they will realise it is post-natal. Gosh, how much I've waffled! Hope it isn't your thyroid anyway and hope you're feeling better soon.

Juw - you're right about the baby food, it all still says 'from around 4 months' which is what it said when DS's were babies and it was 4 months then, they really should change it! although apparently I've been told HV's are going to start advising weaning between 17-26 weeks but 9 weeks is a massive age range in baby terms.

Bronze - can't believe how long Izy fed for, you poor thing, you must be shattered! E fed for an hour today and scratched and twisted and made me bleed and so sore and half an hour later she wanted more so I gave her a bottle She drank 9 oz in total in the next hour - she's not getting enough from me is she And well done Izy for the roll over!

BB - yes, I am also thinking you had K in April 2008 You do need to get yourself over to G&T - clever clever boy!

WFH - congrats to your sis

Schulte - sorry, but LOL at nipple

Nutty, Springy, hope you're both okay x

surprisenumber3 · 08/08/2009 22:51

oh, I have to tell you about this birthday pressie I had from DH.

A gorgeous silver necklace with three different sized silver hearts and each heart had a fingerprint and the name of my children

Hang on, that wasn't very clear. So, the big heart had DS1's name and his fingerprint, the middle sized heart had DS2's name and his fingerprint and then the tiny one had E's name and her tiny fingerprint.

Twas lovely

Sorry, was hard to explain, I've had half a glass of cider

bronze · 08/08/2009 23:01

Oh that sounds absolutely gorgeous surprise

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 08/08/2009 23:18

surprise that necklace sounds gorgeous! Bless your DH. Happy Birthday!

just wanted to say also that E feeding for an hour or 9oz from a bottle doesn't mean she's not getting enough from you - if she's on a growth spurt she will feed non stop for a few days to build up supply.

Orbit just did this and it does feel like there's nothing left at all there for them to feed on, iyswim, and I got really sore as well, but thankfully he seems to have chilled out now, and is back to feeding a bit more normally.

Tell me to naff off if I'm being annoying, I'm sure you know all of this, but don't want you to be posting sad faces about your milk.

Oh, I've had a glass of wine, not making much sense either, I'm off to bed. sleep well, all!

surprisenumber3 · 08/08/2009 23:25

It is lovely, was quite emotional about it secretly

Thanks WFH, I just think if she still needs 9 oz after I've fed her for an hour then she must have been starving! You're not being annoying at all, I need someone to tell me it's okay

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 09/08/2009 07:36

Morning

Have been awake every hour since 11pm with one child or another - feeding, wind, bad dreams, demands for milk in the middle of the night (BOTH children!)

Given up now and have got up with Orbit, who started singing to us at 7am after being up all flipping night.

Sigh.

Surprise hope your night was better! you're right, E might not be getting enough right this second but her sucking for an hour will make your boobs make more than before, and within a day or so you'll have plenty. It's tough on you and your nipples though, I feel your pain

dawntigga · 09/08/2009 07:48

Waves to all

Have been up since 0520:

Washing on and out
Pots put away
Dog fed and walked

There are down sides to sleeping through to 0500!

Sam has definately got a tooth coming through, that should make bf'ing interesting!

mathshoneybunny27 · 09/08/2009 09:18

Well I've started little A on the baby rice at 4 months and we are all much happier. I respect those who chose BLW/wait etc but it was the right decision for us.

Bloody messy though.

bronze · 09/08/2009 10:38

well I give up. You know we're a) skint b) I've bee n decorating when childless well yesterday someone decided to draw on things with red felt tip. Stuff like the towel holder. I'm so tired and fed up of their lack of respect for things.
I wrote a post on mn about it and got quit patronising answer about repeating it. You think I haven't repeated myself from the word go I'm like a bloody stuck record so now I'm officially fed up.

The house I loved is under offer and we're not even on the market yet. I started before christmas but I'm fighting a losing better

right got that off my chest

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 09/08/2009 12:01

oh bronze poor you, how frustrating! Is it illegal to lock them in cellars these days?

I hope you have set them to work scrubbing it off.

And bummer about the house - but you will sell and the right place will come along.

maths can I ask happier in what way? Absolutely not wanting to judge or criticise, just interested in what has improved since you started rice.

surprisenumber3 · 09/08/2009 12:09

WFH I've been awake every hour all night too, my eyes hurt, my head hurts, I feel crap and I have a one year olds birthday party to go to shortly! Nothing to do with E though, it was DH! He was snoring and elbowing me in his sleep, throwing the covers on, pulling them back on, was awful.
You were right about the milk, I have an abundance today

Bronze, I know how you feel. Although my DS's aren't TOO bad now(they tend to ruin things accidentally but not on purpose), but when DS2 was 2, we had hall stairs landing repapered and he smudged lipstick and foundation all over the wall on the landing. I could have cried!

Glad the weaning is going well for you MM, I weaned both DS's at 4/5 months as were the guidelines 10 years ago (gosh, I'm old ), but am hoping to wait a little longer with E. Although if I went with BLW she would be eating a Sunday roast by now Never known a baby show so much interest in food - she stares at me dribbling and kicking arms and legs when I eat and has swiped a few things out of my hands!

surprisenumber3 · 09/08/2009 12:11

what a terrible post, I don't dribble and kick arms and legs when eating - E does while watching me

bronze · 09/08/2009 12:14

surprise I wouldn't worry about mistakes. I think there at least 10 in my last post

Izy watches me eat too but I'm going to hold out

Schulte · 09/08/2009 12:54

Sorry to hear about bad nights but secretly I'm relieved it's not just me Am v angry at the moment because DD1 woke H up after only 20 minutes of her lunchtime nap

So this little madam here fusses on the breast during the day, then catches up on her feeds at night. Not good and I'll work on reversing this habit! But MM, I am also looking forward to weaning, although I'll hold out for as long as I can.

Is anyone using the bumbo chair yet? H wants to sit up all the time now so she can see what's going on but she's technically still too young for the bumbo.

Bronze sorry about the vandalism, DD1 is also being a PITA today xxx

bronze · 09/08/2009 13:10

Just discovered hes done it on several other thing sincluding twic eon dds new dolls house. Her birthday was only 5 days ago and already its ruined. Ok its usable but I wanted something nice just for once
I've been in floods of tears (still am) co I just can't cope with anymore. I'm fed up of living ina shit hole and have been working so hard to try and make it nice so we can move and hes drawn on the door frame I've painted and on dds furniture (the only stuff we've had new)
I just seem destined to feel scummy (I cant blame him ) but even after we got our new hall carpets the dog got throat cancer and threw up on them staining them beyond cleaning.

He [ds1] is currently upstairs crying saying to himself what have I done over and over. I haven't punished him in anyway this time I think he knows how upset I am. BUT will it sodding go in!

bronze · 09/08/2009 14:25

ok calmed down now
got him to help tidy his room

its actually been a decider. I'm going to blitz next week then get the carpet guy in and the people for the top to bottom clean and just stick it on the market. anything else we'll carry on when its on the market

dawntigga · 09/08/2009 14:56

Schulte Sam loves his bumbo chair - there's an age restriction? He's only 16 weeks and we use it so he can sit with us during meal times and watch. He's not very good at sitting so he kind of slumps mostly but he's getting better everyday

Am currently very annoyed with dp as he's in bed asleep. He woke up with us at 0500 went back to sleep for an hour or so and is to tired now to do anything. WTF am I????? Working is easy compared to this. Can't complain to loudly though as he's really good with everything else.

StillGrumblyAtDPTiggaxx

bronze · 09/08/2009 15:17

I've started using the bumbo. Not any length of time more when I'm hanging out the washing or something. He sits well for that long but soon tires

Schulte · 09/08/2009 20:00

Well it depends on what country you're in - the Bumbo US website says suitable from six weeks , in the UK it's 4 months and in Germany you'd probably be jailed if you tried to put your baby in a sitting position before about 10 months! I've come across this phenomenon before when looking at buggies. There seems to be this thing about damaging the child's spine if you sit them up too early? AhI'll use mine for a few minutes to park H somewhere when I go to the loo, I think.

DH is calling - dinner's served - see you later!

mathshoneybunny27 · 09/08/2009 20:20

happier in that reflux seems to have abated (mostly), A enjoying food (lots of goggling and slurping in this house of late) and most importantly (for me) lovely long sleeps at night. I wasn't convinced this would happen as I know inly too well solids aren't a panacea for everything...but it has made a huge difference for us. I wouldn't mind feeding all night if the poor mite actualy enjoyed it but puking/screaming/coughing/gagging three times a night was not good!

Bronze i sympathise (()) I had stern words with DD about this the other day, woke up yest morning to find she'd stripped naked and drawn all over herself (in board marker) as I hadn't SPECIFIALLY outlawed THAT...
