So, K not only stands up, but he also feeds himself???

Are you sure you didn't have him in April 2008???

PuzzleRocks · 06/08/2009 07:36

Good morning

I'm stuck in working on a client project for the rest of the week. Although it looks like the weather will prevent outdoor fun anyway. I'm going to throw some playdough, paint, glitter etc at Ellen and leave her to it.

Bronze - "parent shave" Is that a euphemism?

Bleu - I hope you have a wonderful holiday and get plenty of relaxation time.

OP posts:
Juwesm · 06/08/2009 07:49

Please smack my wrists, I've been googling again

Schulte · 06/08/2009 08:15

BB K can hold his bottle? Not bad.

Puzzle, are you free next week?

Juw - stop googling!

FrogmellaMoonbeam · 06/08/2009 08:19

Consider your wrist smacked! What have you been googling now?

Anyone able to give me some motivation? I need to pack a weeks worth of clothes for 4 of us into one suitcase for a week in Scotland. We are packing the car tonight and I just cant be bothered to pack, I was supposed to do a bit at a time all week and it hasnt happened.

Anyway Im sure I will have loads to catch up on when I get back so have fun and keep your fingers crossed the weather stays nice next week as we are in a caravan with DHs Sis and BIL and due to a cock up with booking we dont have the planned for awning and BIL isnt the most patient person when it comes to the kids making noise, dont get me wrong he absolutely adores them but it may be a slightly different matter when stuck in a tiny tin box for a week! Particularly since its a fishing holiday for the boys (MIL, FIL, BIL and neice are also there in a motor home and everyone else has gone up a week before us) and so far they have been out on the boat every day since Sunday and havent had a single bite (normally they are having to throw Mackrel back they catch that much!!) so they wont be in the best of moods.

tattybojangles · 06/08/2009 08:22

Nutty -

I love Russel Howard. We went and saw him in Edinburgh last year. He was hilarious!

Juw - STOP IT!!!

doesn't it seem odd that we're all starting to talk about weaning already? It still feels like Isla is just NEW (I know she's not but i'm denial that she's going to grow up into one of those pre-school sized things like DS!)
Doesn't it seems like yesterday that we were all waiting for these babies to be born? where has the time gone?

Juwesm · 06/08/2009 08:32

Frogmella - maybe start with counting out pants and socks for all. Then you're halfway there!

My DIY diagnosis du jour is hyperthyroidism

tattybojangles · 06/08/2009 08:37

SCotland seems to be the place to holiday this year!
we're talking about renting a place for a few night at the end of the month (nothing like leaving it until the last minute)
we haven't even made a definite decision and i'm already trying to work out the logistics of packing and what to bring!(of course i won't actually DO anything until the night before we leave!!)

where are you going Froggie?

Schulte · 06/08/2009 08:40

Here Frogmella I hate packing too.

So I've had enough of H's shuffling at night. She'll move to her sister's room as soon as it gets a bit cooler again. DH seems a bit reluctant but he can sleep through the noise and I can't. And I've been so grumpy and impatient recently that I am fed up with myself and fear DD1 doesn't like me any more

FrogmellaMoonbeam · 06/08/2009 08:57

I have spent the last month or so planning what to take and thinking out logistics ie where we can stop to feed Violet where Oscar can be entertained as well. So Ive thought about it all and helped SIL pack last week which you would have thought would motivate me but I still havent done much. I kind of sorted DH out and sorted through the kids stuff last night but clothes seem to have gone walkies and I dont seem to have the clothes I thought I had for Violet.

Anyway we are staying in Garlieston on a campsite that looks straight out to sea so it will be lovely as long as the weather stays nice.

I think my main problem is that I normally work on the take averything and we'll be fine way of thinking but as space is at a premium I am having to be careful what I take.

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 06/08/2009 09:01

Morning

Orbit woke up three times - or was it four? - last night. DS1 woke up twice. I am officially shattered. Bless DP, he got the boys up and got DS1 ready for nursery so I could sleep, Orbit is now having a nap and I'm praying he'll sleep for longer than 20 minutes at a time today!

Juwesm do you really think your thyroid is playing up? you could get a blood test to make sure? sorry to hear you're feeling pants.

Puzzle - working? stop that this instant, no good will come of it

Frogmella my packing list for holidays since children goes like this:

  • children
  • me
  • DP
  • wallet

Everything else can be bought en route!

My sister had her third child yesterday - a little boy, hooray! She was meant to have an elective C-section today, but the hospital called yesterday morning and said 'where are you?' - they'd written the date down wrong (the hospital, not my sister).....so they rushed in and had him at lunchtime. That's my parents' 10th grandchild, can you believe.

BabyBolat · 06/08/2009 09:10

morning

Schultes good call re room change - you have to do what's right for you - I just need to get to sleep a bit longer through the night and I'll have him in his own room last night he flayed around so much (which is the reason he wont go in his moses basket) but whacked me in the head about 15 times! And DD1 loves you! don't ever think she does!

JUWESM (see me using your full name there) GET YOUR BUM OFF GOOGLE!

WFH - yeah he takes a 5-6 oz bottle, he does need help getting it into his mouth if it comes out sometimes but he is quite content holding it there until it is all gone! He absolutely hates anyone (apart from my mum for some reason) feeding him

Also he hates water - was thinking about getting some of that baby juice - good or bad idea?

As for standing - we've not had anything like that again so think it was a fluke! he got himself up on all fours the other day and I thought he was about to move forward but he decided against it and led down and fell asleep instead - so we are just on carpet shuffling again - he has now started shuffling backwards??!!!

Frogmella - go to the shop buy yourself a treat (something chocolate always works for me) and put it on the side, go pack and and soon as you have done it you can have your treat!

Also Frog on impatience - anyone else find it a bit annoying that everyone wants to hold / play with the baby bt as soon as it pukes / cries / poos it comes straight back to mummy! !

I HAVE to tidy my house today - I don't want to

Can any reusable nappy mums help me - I was really lazy last night and the outers of my nappies were a tiny bit damp so I just bunged them in the drier for 30 minutes (BIG MISTAKE) so they have crinkled and shrunk slightly - are they ruined or will they wash out again if I put them on a 60 degree wash? [hopeful emoticon]

Poo Bugger Bum....

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 06/08/2009 09:18

Not sure about the nappies BB, you might have shrunk the waterproof lining, I doubt washing would fix it, but it's worth a go.

If K is bf on demand then he doesn't need anything else for hydration, not even water, but definitely not juice unless you want to start weaning.

BabyBolat · 06/08/2009 09:19

yay for new nephew wfh - 10!! wow!! how many siblings do you have?

frogmella - i hate packing since k came along - no more throwing everything in a bag the morning of the flight and heading to the airport straight from work - no no - you need a bus to take all the bags / prams / beds with you!!!

Schulte · 06/08/2009 09:23

WFH, ouch. Here, have a biscuit

Congratulations to your sister!

BB I wouldn't give him juice - avoid that stuff for as long as you can, I know toddlers who won't drink anything else. And I'd definitely wait until 6 months at the very least.

Schulte · 06/08/2009 09:25

My grandma had 16 grandchildren. I think, I have just tried to count them! I was one of the youngest ones and she wasn't very interested in me at all

WhatFreshHellIsThis · 06/08/2009 09:29

I have three sisters and a brother - all the sisters have children, brother hasn't got around to it yet! What with DP's sister's two kids and his step brother's two boys, there's a LOT of cousins for DS1 and Orbit.

We win on the grandparents though, as we're the only ones who live in the same town as my mum, so DS1 and Orbit get MUCH more Grannie attention than the others. We're very lucky.

Thank you for chocolate hobnob Schulte! I'll swap you a chocolate rich tea.

Juwesm · 06/08/2009 09:36

WFH - thyroid diagnosis is for H, not me! I'm feeling not-too-bad, though we had a post-vacc night of constant arm-thrashing last night, followed-up with a nuclear poo at 4.30am, and then deciding that it was clearly morning so not going back to sleep. Also, a bit of temperature, but that's gone down now (again, him, not me).

Could-I-get-any-more-badly-placed-hyphens-into-that-post?

BabyBolat · 06/08/2009 09:37

wfh - k gets everything on demand at the moment!!!! brat!!

dawntigga · 06/08/2009 09:48

Waves to all to mark the place I've read to

Sam had a disturbed night until went down at 2100 (normal time) had very misley sleep, much huffing and small noise making to 1100. Woke up at 0000 fed him, we both fell asleep - him across me and me sat up! Popped him back in his cot at 0130 slept through to 0530 fed and popped him back in to 0800. Not the nightmare night from hell after the collic I was exepecting - result! Will not be waking him if he's asleep from now on. I think it's a mixture of teeth - he has 2 bottom ones cusping not actually coming through yet. His injections, being to warm and being woken up!

WePostToMuchTiggaxx

FrogmellaMoonbeam · 06/08/2009 09:54

BB - I would say that it is frustrating to have child handed back as soon as it cries/poos/pukes but the worst culprits for it are FIL and BIL and when it happens FIL says "Grandma wants a cuddle now" and passes her to MIL and BIL just hands her straight to SIL so I cant complain! The main problem we have is that BIL is one of Violets favorite people (shes ddefinitely more into the men than DS ever was) but unfortunately he has the interest span of a gnat and hands her over ASAheP can.

Well Ive just put as load of washing in with things that we want for holiday in thats how organised I am!!! ( I have at least 1 more load to do as well.) I also have a small pile of bright red stuff to wash that is no where near enough for a load but I cant face attempting to hand wash but it contains part of an outfit for V that I want to take.

I JUST CANT BE BOTHERED!

Schulte · 06/08/2009 10:08

Woohoo. Little missy here has worked out how to roll onto her tummy now and NOT get her hand stuck. She's currently doing what looks like breast strokes on dry ground - very funny. I have a feeling she's trying to get to the toy that's lying right in front of her but she can't reach it

Schulte · 06/08/2009 10:09

Oh, she's already given up and started crying...

BabyBolat · 06/08/2009 10:17

LOL schultes - well done H! that's great

K just had a temper tantrum and has zonked out on the sofa and I am not moving him - will surround him with cushions!

Oh can I just say anyone having a fussy child with teeth and or colic there is a powder from Ashton and Parsons (Called Ashton & Parsons Infant Powder) that is working wonders with K - really makes a difference.

bronze · 06/08/2009 10:44

froggy- do you have a short/small load setting. Not great but ok for a one off

bb- temper tantrum ? at 4 months? wait til they're two!

Well done H

Izy has no inclination to roll. Why should he when all the interesting stuff happens above him and he can see it if hes on his back
