Glad you came over. Some on here have already started weaning if you've not read through yet so you won't get any scary judgey answers off us

christina welcome back. DD also skimming 91-98th centiles and BF! Nightmare! Did a day not feeding solids the other day as she was poorly and she fed almost constantly all day and 4 times in the night! Never seen a baby get breakfast so quick!

AKweaning did AK with dd1 and she was fine but had a friend who's son was v fussy on it so did BLW with daughter who has done much better with it. I think everyone's right. Either they like it or they don't. DD2 doesn't seem to mind textures already. Accidentally made baby rice v lumpy other day and it still disappeared!

newthread Think it would be wise to start a new one soon. I get well confused trying to keep up with all the pages. Must be baby brain... speaking of which

stupidme! put tea in the over the other night with the fan on but no temp set so when the potatoes were done tea was still frozen... oops!

ttc NOOOOOOOOO no more babies! 2 is enough for me! Gonna get tubes tied as dh is a bit younger than me and if we get wiped out in a freak bus incident I'd like him to have the chance of another family. Me... never again!

can beat that girls...I didn't realise that the clocks had changed! Muppet!

Christiana glad you survived the scary moo's on the weaning thread. Makes me even crosser when they are mean to one of us! I think we should start up a weaning thread and all go on it and make them out to be the bad ones, see if they like a taste of their own medicine...! I hope that you are ok and that the AD work for you. Take care of yourself.xxx

I am off to the outlaws for a few days, boo hiss, so wish me luck and I will tell you all about it when I get home! xx

Patchybob · 25/10/2009 19:21

Christina just looked at the thread and think you answered them really well... good for you. Interesting what one nice lady said about reflux and the baby rice helping as it stops the acid travelling back. makes sense really. I wonder if it will help Max who has reflux and is on gaviscon, but still seems to be puking. I reduced the amount I was giving him and have upped it again but it doesn't seem to have helped and the puke is non stop? Something for me to think about while I do the ironing now! x

Hi Christiana, me too I like a friendly non judgemental place. Sorry to hear about your PND, poor you.

It's weird how lots of babies on this thread are big. I have read somewhere that summer babies tend to be bigger and there certainly seem to be a few big'uns on here.

Goood luck with whatever you decide re. weaning. Each to their own I say - you're the one who knows and lives with your own baby!

Met an old granny in the park who told me to put cereal in DS bottle the other day - he was only 10 weeks at the time. They did it from 6 weeks back then!!!

Hope you all had a nice weekend. Hope the babies sleep tonight! [fingers crossed emoticon]

Gillyan · 25/10/2009 21:18

Hi christiana hope you're okay, sorry about the PND, that sucks, glad you are getting help with it. Defo stick t us lot to discuss weaning with

phoenix he did it! He Air, nemesis, Oblivion, Rita, Water rapids, Runaway Mine Train and the Haunted House, Air twice in fact!! Very proud of him. Hope you traing your LO's to love them too!!

Phoenix · 25/10/2009 21:40

Gosh he really went for it didn't he Gillyan . Sounds like you had a good day.

Noah has been asleep in his cot since 8pm and we haven't been up once. That's the longest he's ever slept early evening. Hope i haven't spoke too soon.

QueenFee · 25/10/2009 23:16

christiana Alfie is off the top of the charts somewhere and I have started weaning him. Incidentally DS1 had severe colic of undetermined cause and I was told by the pediatrition to start weaning him at 12 weeks as it often helps. I presume that is the same with silent reflux?

TTC we will be BDing soon just tring to make up my mind when. I always said I would have 2 or 4 then after DS1 swore I would have no more dcs as he was so difficult. Then 3 years later along came Alfie who is thankfully quite laid back! Hence I now have to have another to even my numbers up, However I tend to get pregnant at the drop of a hat so have to be carefull to decide when. Now what would you do have a years gap i.e start NOW or wait a year and have 2 yrs. Ideally i'd like another summer baby as all of my dcs birthdays are within 3 weeks of each other makes parties etc easier

pheonix fingers crossed for you. I was really pleased to hear Alfie settle himself to sleep tonight after a whinge, I was beginning to think he had a feed to sleep attachment maybe hes just a hungry monster!

cradlecap I have been told the best thing to do is rub lots of olive oil into it before their bath and let it soak in, then very gently rub it off with a wet flannel in the bath

Had a fabulous evening out. Went for a lovely (cheapskate £3.50) carvery then on to a comedy club really good night and I pushed the boat out and my friend had Alfie over night so I didn't have to pick him up till this morning. He was fine apparently and just woke for his normal 3am feed. I could only do it as she literally lives opposite me and was on strict instructions to bring him straight over should he get upset. He also took all the bottles fine which was a relief as he is such a boob man now another 6 months I suppose till we have another evening off together!

lydiathetattooedlady · 26/10/2009 00:14

ooh busy sunday on here!
gillian glad you managed to get dp on some rides...sounds like he did the lot!

hellochristina sorry to hear about the pnd. re weaning bill has refulx and is on domperidone 3x a day have started giving him porridge at about 4.30 and he is so much more settled and nowhere near as sick and grouchy! over past 2 days have reduced his medication to 2x a day.

sleep out of sheer desperation from being up every hour from 1 last night i decided to swaddle him tonight. he went down awake at 6.30 woke 11.30 for a feed and stragiht back down...lets hope this continues through the night!

ttc no more here either. couldnt financially afford it, plus im like queenfee i like even numbers so would need 2 more!

queenfee glad you had a lovely evening!

babyblue3 · 26/10/2009 02:19

This thread is quite busy for a weekend!

rides I LOVED rollercoasters and Gillyan am that you can still enjoy them. As soon as I got pg with my first, that was then end of amusement parks for me. I have not been able to ride a rollercoaster since. I get sick on a park swing now! DH is following my lead as well. Good thing my DCs come in pairs, because their parents wont be able to go on rides anymore!

weaning I am thinking of putting some rice into Marco's bottle in the evenings. He spits up so much, but the doc thinks its normal and does not want to prescribe anything since he is gaining weight ok and does not seem bothered by it. How much cereal do you put in?? Have never done this with the others.... always just spoon fed them the rice.

cradlecap The good olive oil works wonders. DS1 had really bad exzema and cradlecap when he was born, so my grandmother told me to use olive oil. Worked very well, although he did smell like a salad for the first year of his life . Just watch which towels you use, because they do get stained up a bit.

Queenfee Sounds like you had a nice evening . The more DCs you have, the harder it is to pawn them off!! LOL

Christiana good luck with the PND... hopefully the meds works because caring for a baby is hard enough without having to add to your own stress.

Well... another evening of entertaining tonight. Was DD2's 2nd birthday, so we had another house full of people. This time I just ordered pizza and we had coffee and cake. Tired from cleaning up afterwards though. I need a weekend where I have nothing to do! The Hallowe'en party we went to was a lot of fun last night. Marco slept most of the evening, so it was almost like having a date. My dad sat with my 3 remaining DCs and my sisters' 2 DCs. He was so knackered (we didnt get home til 2am), that he didnt even make it out today for the birthday party! LOL

Misspaella · 26/10/2009 07:01

Morning

Christiana how are you? Sorry to hear about you PND. Did you have it with your first DC? Mentally adjusting to 2 DC's is very difficult IMO. I cried for the first few months after DD was born and hated feeling like a failure to DS1 (ignoring him to deal with DD, etc) and on some days just couldn't cope. I've found going from 2 to 3 DC's not nearly as mentally draining. Physically of course it is harder but emotionally I have been fine this time round. Take care of yourself and take it easy. The lack of sleep is probably not helping.

Jetli I think it is brilliant your are TTC. Tristan is our 3rd so guess unless we win the lottery he is our last....

Cradlecap ditto olive oil but I have also found washing LO's head and lightly combing the head w/ageuous cream (and rinse out) really lifts the cradle cap.

Rollercoasters How fun!!! DH and I love them but haven't been to an amusement park in years. The scarier the better.

QF was a great date night. It must be nice to have one on one time with your other half.

Lydia how is Bill sleeping? I think you are doing an amazing job!

Phoenix did Noah settle ok then? If he did, better you did a celebration dance.

Babyblue I like your bday party for DD2. Parties can become too hectic otherwise. All that cooking (and cleaning!) does my head in when entertaining.

Hi ali belgrano patchy and everyone else I have missed. Who wants to start the new thread? This one is getting mahooosive.

Going to go back to bed - my 2 other DC's are at my parents til Thur. I am doing a celebration dance as I say this.

Misspaella · 26/10/2009 07:14

Christiana I just had a look at your weaning post and liked what you had to say.

Patchybob · 26/10/2009 07:15

Oh its early, well its not but have been up since 5am with Max who thinks its 6am! I hate it when the clocks change. it so doesn't bode well for our trip to the inlaws in Wales. To be tired to start with does not help me enjoy their company!

Wow Gillyan sounds like you had a great day, I am with babyblue3 and can't cope with rides now that I have had kids! Feel so sick!

Cradlecap both other dc had it badly but I have found with Max that every night in th ebath I rub his head with a sponge (not too hard!) and he hasn't developed it at all? Could it be the rubbing or just that he is a different child.

I am a bit freaked out. I weighed him last night on our home scales and he only weighed 14lb. When I took him to the clinic 2 weeks ago he was 14lb9oz. I hope it is my scales and that he hasn't lost weight. I can't take him to the clinic for a whole week now as we miss them while we are away. He is bright, alert and happy but you can't help worrying a bit.

Anyway, will try to post while we are away, to give me a break from the relations!! Have fun everyone xxx

JetLi · 26/10/2009 08:43

Morning all!
Thanks for the cradle cap tips all. Will give the olive oil a go first I think.
Welcome back christiana and good luck with the PND and the weaning. I had a look at your thread and your answers were fab. I'm still not sure what is supposed to magically, mysteriously happen the night before the baby is 6 months old that makes the weaning then OK with the WHO. It must be a similar thing to what happens overnight when they turn 1 and we can suddenly all stop sterilising stuff
Patchy you have my sympathy for your trip to the inlaws. I've been inlaw-ed out this weekend. I could quite cheerfully slap SIL for reasons which would be too long winded (and frankly dull) to go into here, but include the fact that we have been temporarily storing her bloody piano in our house for 3 YEARS now and I'm ready to take a sodding sledge hammer to it. She's announced she's going to Aus for Christmas and I wish she'd bloody well stay there - indefinitely. I've tried that weighing scale trick at home - both the kitchen scales and the bathroom scales and scared the shit out of myself - I don't think they have the granularity or accuracy. DP gets ever so cross and then points out more obvious signs of weight gain like the sleep suits and vests that don't fit anymore
Glad you had a nice night out Queenfee Our next one is 18th November when we're off to see Daniel Kitson.
MissP - enjoy your peaceful few days, sans DC's
babyblue - put your feet up today!
reflux - gosh it's hellish. My nephew had it and my sis had this haunted, despairing air about her for months and months. It did clear up in the end but it's terribly, terribly wearing and I wouldn't wish it on anyone, Mum or baby.
Gosh we're a year on ladies - it is coming up to 12 months since I did that first pregnancy test! I might go back to the old thread and have a nostalgic trawl through

Gillyan · 26/10/2009 09:14

lydia and phoenix for the sleeping babies..hope they continue for you, I'm sure as they get older and start eating more they go down for you, hope so!

cradlecap got it here too, I had heard of olice oil but have used dentenox, it seems to dry her scalp up but never actually gets rid of it all.

jetli store a piano at your house, for £ yrs!! Do you live in a warehouse??? Cheeky moo your SIL get it gone

Queenfee* glad your night out went well.

even numbers yes I's be like that with kids and want 4 but just no way.

newthread I'm up for starting a new one....

lydiathetattooedlady · 26/10/2009 09:24

he slept!!! afetrmy update last night he went 6.30 til 11.30-11.30til3.30-3.30 until 6.30 yippee! i think 3 feeds in 12 hours is pretty damn good especially as it was every hour! my boobs are bit sore this morning but hey ho! reflux there has been such a change in bill since giving him his porrdige, i know its early days but since friday i havent had to change him or hissheets once during the night from vomitting! i was only giving him porridge at night but after giving dd her ready brek this morning he sort of looked as if to say where's mine and cried for nearly half hour. gave in and got some porridge for him and he was grinning and bouncing away and ate the lot. im wondering if some how he knows it makes his belly feel better as it stops him vomitting??

Lydia, Noah slept too. From 8pm to 12.30am, fed and back down by 1.30 (normally quicker but he fed very slow) then he slept til 5.30 when i brought him into bed with me and he went back to sleep til 6.50am just in time for his 7am bottle. I finally seem to have him in a 7am, 11am, 3pm, 7pm and whenever he wakes up in the night feeding routine so that will help with his new bedtime routine of bath at 6.45, bottle at 7 and bed by 7.30-8pm

Noah still can't keep his dummy in his mouth so that is making it hard to get him to go to sleep by himself so at the mo i'm still having to cuddle him to sleep. He just screams without the dummy but just can't keep it in. I've even bought the bigger 6+month dummies but they don't stay in either.

Patchy - Do you give Max gaviscon at every feed? I do but i'm just wondering if i can cut it out of his night feed . Have fun at the in-laws if that is even possible

Cradlecap - I haven't done anything with Noah's apart from just washing his hair in the bath and it is starting to look better. iirc i didn't do anything with ds1's either.

Queenfee - Your night out sounds fab, glad you enjoyed it and belated happy anniversary

alibobble · 26/10/2009 13:58

started a new thread here

see if it works!

Belgrano · 26/10/2009 14:08

people are thinking of TTC??????? My eyes are on stalks. You are MUCH braver than me! I am thinking about stopping bf so I can get my body back and then want it back for at least a year before I will consider any thoughts of number 3.
RE cradle cap - weirdly DD has got it! She is 2 and a half and never really had it much as a baby but its all over her scalp now, scaly and pretty big lumps of it. I am back on the dentinox which I luckily did not throw away. Is there anything wrong with it? Just wondering why you are all being natural and using olive oil. Maybe I'll give oil a try since we've been dentinoxing for a week and its still there....
