Oh... and did I mention the boy is now 13lbs and 24.5in at 2 months old (up from 7lbs 5oz and 20.5in at birth)?? Little piggy!!!

Patchybob · 02/10/2009 19:50

babyblue3 its good to find someone else who gets the dreaded 3 day migraines! people always look at me like i am mad! Mine has gone now thankfully but now i have had one i know they will return

Laundry is a nightmare isn't it. it never seems to end. I do at least 2 loads every day, more on clean shhets days.

I gave in today and got some hungry baby formula. he has a bottle at 10pm and i am going to try it as we don't seem to be making any progress with going through the night. other dc did it at 9 weeks and he is 12 on monday. he is a big boy, 14lb6oz at 11 weeks. over a lb heavier than ds at the same age.

Sorry about strange typing, expressing at the same time!!!

Have a good weekend everyone xxxx

QueenFee · 02/10/2009 20:55

bonzo I will be trying the lean forward thing... thanks!

laundry I find I can just about get it washed but folded and put away you must be kidding. Maybe I should take a tip from the woman who is expecting her 19th baby - in the pics of her house she has a laundry room with a rack for each child?
alfie managed to poo down me at school pickup yesterday and dd took great pleasure in telling everyone in a loud voice!

Patchybob · 03/10/2009 09:10

Wey hey...he did it. He slept from 7pm, dream feed at 10pm and then woke at 6.50am! Hoorah! Sadly i woke every 2 hours, clock watching! Hope this carries on xxx

Hi guys migrains I get killer migrains that can last days. Had them all the way through my first pregnancy but didn't have 1 when pregnant with Summer. Funnily enough though, today I have been on the verge of one all day, my neck goes stiff, feel sick and literally turning my head hurts. Managed to lie down for about 2 hrs in the dark, took paracetemol and ibuprofen together, manged to eat something and I'm just now ok. It could so easily turned into one though. They are horrid!!

baby weight Lots of bouncing babies! Summer is 14lbs at 15wks and bang on the 50th thing in red book. She's suddenly gained that in last week, she had a growth spurt and was feeding loads.

lydiathetattooedlady · 03/10/2009 20:20

hi, how is everyone? patchy glad he slept through! im still up every 1 1/2 to 2 hours in the night. dont know how im not comatosed (SP!) yet. have been more and more tempted to give him a bottle at his 12ish feed but am worried about my boobs exploding from missing all the feeding i do at night! plus the last time i gave him a bottle atthat time he then wouldnt go back to sleep for over an hour whereas at the minute he will go straight back to sleep. he's been feeding almost hourly through the day today. if he's not feeding he's sleeping or screaming! my friends joke he's like a mardy old man cos of his name and constant griping but it makes me feel a bit sad . all their babies are happy to be held by others and sleep through despite being breastfed. sorry im a whinge bag today!
washing we get through loads and loads, i try to hold off as long as possible but the washers going everyday!
thrush seems to be back yippee! my poor boy is having the gel and his reflux medicine, no wonder he always looks so pissed off!
cot he's got much better at being in it, i have to pull his sheets really tight over him so he feels really secure, plus his hands seemed to be getting really cold so is now wearing scratch mits in bed or his suits with the 'built-in' scratch mits. he doesnt look to sure bless him when he cant see his hands!
anyway im off, hope evryone has a good night x

Patchybob · 03/10/2009 20:37

lydia I am sure that he will sort himself out. max is a bit the same, generally ver grumpy when we see any of my friends and they all think he is a right misery!

We were out most of the day as dd was on a school course. I left ds1 with my mum as dh away. i have had a blinding headache again all day so it was hard work, but Max was very good, dh back now for a few days thank goodness. gillyan glad your head is a bit better. i think i will have to go back to my gp about mine as they are a nughtmare.

Activity sometimes he wakes right up and is full of beans, other times he doesn't even open his eyes, even when i change his nappy!
lol at the boob gymnastics!!

Anyway, hoping for another good night tonight. now i know he can do it i will be abit tougher!!

Beccabump · 03/10/2009 20:38

Evening ladies

lydia don't beat yourself up! DD was exactly the same with constant feeding, not wanting to be held by anyone else...it does get easier - I wouldn't be on number 2 otherwise!!

DS is so lovely now He is awake loads during the day usually and loves to play/talk to his sister/feed (lots!) but then sleeps from 8pm - 5am, then goes back down till about 7.30am!!

This is such a difference to DD who woke every 40 mins day and night for the 1st 20 weeks!

BF is going well and I have been asked to be an official BF supporter at our childrens centre :D It is really good fun, gets me out the house and also gets me lots of new people to meet!

Hugs to all xxx

Misspaella · 05/10/2009 15:05

When did winter set in? It's raining here.

Becca congrats on being a bf peer supporter. How did you get into it? Having had problems myself 3 times I think it is brilliant you are doing this! I can't believe I have reached 13 weeks this time round with Tristan and not dropping any bf. DS1 was mixed fed for 4.5m and DD mixed for 3.5m so this is a big deal for me.

Lydia pls don't get down about Bill being restless/grizzly. It will settle and every child goes through a bad period. Better to be now than as a toddler I say. DS1 was a star baby BUT terrible toddler. I mean really really bad - I was in tears many times and had to deal with comments (like you) that only made me feel worse. Hope it is getting better.

Lump on breast sorry I can't remember how mentioned having one but just checking that all is ok.

Work YAH!! DH's freelance contract extended to end of Nov (well they've just proposed it today and need to sign it off). If it comes through it will be such a relief. We are just riding this recession storm....

Oh s$%t must get DS1 from school.

Time to test out my new Hunters.

JetLi · 05/10/2009 20:11

Fab news MissP about the contract

Bit nippy here too today. Went on the pram push and Hetty looked very cute in her knitted hat. Didn't use the pram suit just yet, but I think it won't be long...

Ferry booked for Friday night so we're off to France for some smelly cheese

Second jabs due tomorrow Not looking forward to it at all, but I have the calpol at the ready, and I shall bring home some chocolate ready to be nailed to the sofa for a couple of days. Poor baby, its not nice. The GP said to give the calpol half an hour before the appointment to take the sting out of the injection. Does anyone know if it's 1, 2 or 3 needles at 12 weeks?

Well done Becca about the BF peer supporter

Phoenix · 05/10/2009 20:15

Hi JetLi. Noah had his jabs today, it's one in each leg.

JetLi · 05/10/2009 21:19

Thanks phoenix

Patchybob · 06/10/2009 20:46

Its very quiet on here!

Had an interesting conversation in the post office today. I was standing in the queue and Max was in the pram screaming when a woman (about 50ish) patted me on the shoulder and said "you really should try Gina Ford!" wtf? I promptly asked why, he's only crying and she went into a long story about why it was a good idea for me! cheeky bitch! i did then tell her my feelings on gina ford and said that there was nothing wrong with my baby thank you very much! what a bloody cheek! Why do people think that you want to know their opinions!

I hope jabs went ok jetli Max had his yesterday and was very grouchy.

Off to bed now, very tired as not sleeping well for some reason. just when max gets good at it, i become rubbish?

woollyjo · 06/10/2009 21:43

Hi All,

Forgive me for not reading your posts but I just checked in to see if there were names I recognised before posting.

I hope you are all well and enjoying those babies.

We had our appointment which went through the results of the tests they did after Naimh's still birth last week. They all came back 'unremarkable' ie as if I had had a live and healthy baby. The Drs have ruled out lots of things including the cord as cause of death but are absolutely clueless as to what happened.

I was a bit taken aback as whilst I hadn't expected a definitive answer I had expected a suggestion on what may have happened.

The positive to take away is that whatever happened it is remote that it will happen again, which is good as I had a BFP today so we start the whole journey again but in a very different way this time ....

Don't think I will be joining an antenatal group this time, don't really feel like I would 'fit' somehow.

Take care xx

QueenFee · 06/10/2009 22:34

well done becca I find it rewarding (ad somewhat frustrating!) being a peer supporter but you certainly get to meet lots of lovely people.
go patchy love your style! People always like to interfere in other peoples lives!

Alfie has a cold at the mo(again- the joy of school age siblings!) and is being a pain at night. he sleeps through till 2ish for his usual night feed but basically is not settling after that. I go the mattress today so putting him in travel cot - maybe that will help as he keeps getting his hands stuck in crib bars. heres hoping

I was really struggling this afternoon as fin developed a ear infection and just wanted cuddling non stop he was in agony poor child then Alfie aslo wanted to be help - help I don't have enough hands Any tips for these situations? I can't leave Alfie to cry forever and it would be cruel to say no to cuddles for my very poorly boy!

babyblue3 · 06/10/2009 23:08

Queenfee - I have had to push aside my Marco to make room for my toddler on my lap. Good thing they both fit! She likes to cuddle while I breastfeed, and since she isn't really showing any aggressiveness towards the baby, I try to accomodate her. The last thing I need is for a jealousy to start.

So I am thinking that Marco is either getting sick or going through a growth spurt. He was so cranky yesterday... I was having flashbacks of the early colic days when I couldnt put him down. He barely slept all day, then was up every 3 hours last night. Today, during his morning nap, he kept crying out, woke up to feed in the middle of the nap (something he never does) and then slept much later than normal... about 5 hours. He ate, stayed awake for about 30 mins, and has now been asleep for another 2 hours! On top of him being out of routine, DD2 has also been out of hers the past 2 days. She usually sleeps for about 3-4 hours (1pm-5pm), but has only slept one hour the past 2 days, and is cranky by 6pm. My 'witching' hours are getting longer and longer it seems! I am soooo tired! I have been trying to get stuff done while the 2 are both asleep, but I can only do so much in an hour, then I have to deal with 2 cranky kids. Sorry... just needed to vent.

I think the stress of planning Thanksgiving dinner for 25 people this weekend, plus planning DS1s birthday (also this weekend), plus taking care of kids all day alone is getting to me. Will be happy when this weekend is over! October is a super busy month for us (Thanksgiving, 2 DC birthdays, and Hallowe'en).

So you ladies have to take your babies for jabs again at 3 months? Marco doesn't go for his next set til 4 months old, then 6 months, then a year.

Becca congrats on the BF peer support. We relied on our lactation consultant heavily since BF did not come easy for me.

MissP wonderful news on the contract renewal. Must be a big relief.

to everyone else.

Phoenix · 07/10/2009 09:46

Congratulations WoollyJo. That they can't tell you what caused Niamhs death. I still think about you and your family all the time, hope you are all doing ok

How rude Patchy.

Patchybob · 07/10/2009 09:58

WoolyJo what wonderful news, you have brought a smile to my face. Stay here with us if you feel you can. Sorry you didn't get any answers about Niamh. xxxx

Woolyjo congrats on your BFP and I hope that all will be ok. You are still very much in my thoughts and I will never be able to comprehend how you must feel. Good luck over the next few months.

Babyblue I never realised Canadians celebrated Thanksgiving as well (I am sure you mentioned being in Canada or I could be going mad). I am originally from California (in London for the past 14 yrs) and miss a good Thanksgiving meal. YUM! But gather it must be so hectic.

Jabs so far the last 2 have been ok and no Calpol needed yet. I think we are on borrowed time though as Tristan's cheeks are red today and he is stuffing his whole hand in his mouth.

Patchy I can't believe someone said that. "F" off I say to nosy people. GF is not the answer. I have to admit to have loosely (and I mean very loosely) followed her for my other 2 DC's. I ignored all the parts about sleep, not cuddling or looking in the eye during nigh feeds or controlled crying. Er, I only used feed times as a guideline when they were older. Anyway some people need to just keep out if it.

Phoenix · 07/10/2009 12:37

Just had Noah weighed he's gone from 13lb 1oz to 14lb 15oz in 2 weeks. He's jumped up from the 50th line to the 75th. I think he's had a growth spurt. He was having 5-6oz bottles 2wks ago when he was weighed and over a few days he was finishing them so i made 7oz and they were been drained so made 8oz and most feeds he was finishing those too. He's slowed down since yesterday but he's a bit snotty (so is ds1) and only had 4oz at his last feed.

His sleeping seems to be improving too. I haven't tried putting him down in his cot on an evening yet but once he does go to bed with us around 11pm he's sleeping til 4-5am depending on what time his last feed is (no routine at all with feeds either, apart from every 4hrs)

He's still on the gaviscon because my mum really thinks it has made a difference to him when she looked after him the other day.

alibobble · 07/10/2009 17:13

sorry not been on for ages. All been poorly and DH revising for tax exams so computer taken most evenings.

switching BF to bottle seriously want to do this with dd now. She weighed 14lb 6 the other day and that was like 9 or 10 weeks (lost track) and is 2ft long exactly. She's a monster and I never seem to stop feeding. Any tips from anyone? DD1 took bottle in preference to boob but dd2 resistant as BF going well for her (just wearing me to the bone!)

QueenFee · 07/10/2009 20:56

*wooley - sorry I wasn't ignoring you crossed posts but anyway CONGRATS! sorry there is no def answer for you x

ali my DS ever took a bottle but he was an extreme case of everything so could have just been him. Have you tried breast compression when you are feeding? maybe if she is getting more hind milk she may go longer between feeds. Alfie is well over 17lbs now and is 13 weeks but he is usually in quite a good routine. Admittedly the last couple of days he has fed loads though so may be that he is going through a growth spurt. Good luck with either!

pheonix glad the gaviscon seems to be working.

Misspaella · 08/10/2009 08:58

Ali if you are really tired/feeling down about the constant feeding maybe just give one bottle for DH to do and you sleep/rest before next feed? It doesn't have to be one or the other re feeding. We give 1 bottle of ebm every night and I have no guilt about it (anymore that is). It gets me to bed a couple hours earlier than if I bf Tristan. It is a godsend.

I have to admit, during the cluster craziness from 6 weeks (until recently) I was going to introduce another bottle during the day. I was tired and sore and fed up. Thankfully he started easing on the feeding and there was no need to do this. But it was bloody hard work...I am still taking it one week at a time. I am sure you will sort it out.
