I've already lost this once due to dodgy internet.....

Right....lots to reply to today! I feel special ..... internet is being temperamental tonight so I might post lots to make sure I don't lose anything. Aubergenie - I am really a member of the Itti Bitti appreciation club on FB and have even posted a question on their message board! Waterstones was rubbish but I got the Dr Sears book which basically says if M is a high need baby I'm screwed! It has made me feel calmer about the night waking though as it explains why she does it, I always cope more effectively with things when I understand the reasons behind them. Don't know why I didn't think of going to the library. I might well pop down there tomorrow. Of course I'll have to join again. CSWS - I don't mind ironing....that might honestly be an option. We have a free local magazine that is delivered monthly which contains lots of details of local businesses which would be perfect to advertise in. I'll do some research.....Thank you! Loulou - at your DH. He's very cheeky. There is nothing arousing or sexy about my house so I'd have to spend lots of money on decor before his suggestion would be viable! Alas, you live too far away for me to bring him a cupcake. DH and I are going to regroup at the weekend and formulate a sleep plan. I think I'll go to the library tomorrow and find some options. I will be sorting something out. Right, before the internet dies I'll post now then be back......

Marthasmama · 04/06/2009 23:14

Round two....

Ronshar - Oh poor dd1. Don't beat yourself up about not taking her to hospital straight away. Easily done. I failed to take ds to hospital when he broke his thumb, until the next morning. He seemed fine, but obviously not. DS's mate at school broke his arm and his mum didn't take him to hospital until the next day either. He didn't seem too bothered by it.

Loulou - Forgot to say, M has been clapping on our hands when we say clap clap for about a month but is nowhere near coordinated enough to clap her own hands together. She is making lots of word like sounds but not proper words yet. She does give baby kisses and cuddles though. However, if she wasn't doing these things I would be seriously worried as she is making no effort with the physical things!

Jenwa - Yes, fresh air and no fags is the way forward. DH is much better at dealing with the crying than I am. We are formulating a plan this weekend. And no, I speak ein bissen Deutsch but only what I remember from GCSE.

Pistachio - I am preparing myself for M being like your dd. The fact that you have had another baby and are planning a third must mean that you found a way to cope. Is T sleeping through? I can't remember.

KSal - M has a few teddies (well, bunnies ) in her cot but I have just removed her mobile as I thin it was doing more harm than good. She plays with her bunnies when she wakes up in a good mood.

Myjob - Yay for your sister being home. Hope you have a lovely time.

I think that's everyone.....If not, please don't take offence, my internet has been crap tonight!

I have spoken to Hmm on FB. She still has very limited access to the internet and is finding it hard to keep up with us. She misses us all very much and our chats. P is gaining weight which is great but she was a pickle this morning and woke up really early!

I feel like I have just written an essay!

Marthasmama · 04/06/2009 23:36

I see, scared you all off with my giant posts eh?

jenwa · 05/06/2009 08:18

mm ah, glad you getting a plan together. YOu will be book queen too after your libray visit. You dont have to follow anything that does not suit M either, I often take a bit of advice form everywhere and make my own plan with that

Hope you all have a good day. Off to hairdressers. My DD1 wants me to have my hair like my friends, she has long naturaly curly hair cant see me coming out with that seeing it is bobbed and straight!!!

loulou33 · 05/06/2009 08:52

Have fun at the haridressers Jenwa - i went yesterday [loulou swishes her hair around] I think you may be there sometime if you are going for your friends look (how about a wig instead??)

Good luck at the library MM - let us know what you find out. Will check out high needs babies - sounds a bit harsh on M though to call her high need - may be she'll be high maintenance as an adult Will have to make dh some more scone to make up for the lack of cupcakes. he said men don't care baout decor when it comes to massage palours. When i asked him how he would know - he said nothing and slopped off - sometimes are best not to know i think....

loulou33 · 05/06/2009 08:52

sorry about typing - you know what i mean, off to rescue Joe from over-vigourous hugs from ds1

Thank you for kond words. DD1 is loving the attention. Back to school this morning to show off! We have to go to fracture clinic this morning to get another plaster. Probably a pink one.
Myjob, it is me that is having trouble with the 360. I havent even given it to William yet. I took the rubber bit out of the cow cup as it makes it really hard to get any liquid out. So I basically just have to watch W shower himself with water every time I give it to him.
Every time I go into W in his cot, he is now standing up looking cool! Except when he is supposed to be going to sleep and then he just cries because he cant get down again!!!

MM. I think that you need to try and go with your instincts with M. If it feels wrong to you to let M cry then dont. As the goddess herself stated, do what is right for your family.
For myself I am a bed time tyrant and I dont take any messing around from the older 2. Probably because by 7pm I have run out of mummy power

Loulou when did you work with Dr Tanya? I am being very nosey so you can tell me to bog off if you like.

ronshar · 05/06/2009 10:32

Kind even

Have a great day today myjob. Good luck to DH for his exams.

jenwa · 05/06/2009 13:52

Been to hairdressers and was unable to come out the long curly look and cant afford the wig! Just had a trim and thinned out and razored, my hairdresser is so funky, I always feel like a frumpy mummy when I see her, she is immaculate, young and well trendy! I always comeout wanting to go shopping and change my style and nope I cant afford to do that!
Its nice to have a hair cut though. Went in to town with my mum and she had P for a little bit but I could do with going in for afew hours on my own, just to whizz in abnd out the shops without thinking which ones are child friendly and be able to run up and down the stairs and off course to try stuff on without them. DD2 ok as adores hersefl in the mirror but dd1 gets to bored, I shall give her payback when she needs to buy herself new clothes as a teenager, I may start stropping in the changing room and demanding a wee when we are no where near a loo
LOL at your DH loulou and massage parlours and decor, I totally see what he means, they have no interest in the wall paper, just the naked ladies! It is a womans thing to notice decor and furnishings. Do you think if we walked into a room of hot fit men we would also notice the decor?? If only I had a chance, just to see if I did notice the decor off course

loulou33 · 05/06/2009 14:06

naked ladies in a massage parlour - i thought it was just for a massage.....

pepperrabbit · 05/06/2009 14:47

Goodness! Not been on MN since tuesday and it's taken me an hour to read all this. My brain has instantly erased most of it though
MM sorry you're having such a rough time with M sleeping (or not sleeping...) It's awful when you feel you've really lost your way with something like that, regrouping with DH sounds like a plan.
ronshar - poor DD, as other people have said before - my parents didn't take my 3 year old brother till hospital till the day after he broke his leg! It's really not unusual
jenwa & Loulou - nice hair!
CSWS, glad you had a slightly better night last night.
myjob - have a great time seeing your sister again.
Going to post this before computer crashes..

Ronshar - sorry missed your question. I worked with Dr Tanya about 12 years ago when i was a mere nobody (and still am really) and she was lead consultant where we worked, before she was on telly. DH and i met there and he thinks she's pretty cool too. Her hubby is on The Bill (sorry no idea what his character is called as i have never watched it) and is also really nice. I sat next to him at a wedding reception and had not seen any of the programmes he's been in - oops, rather ruined the conversation...but he was very nice about it fortunately. Used to see them now and again when we were down south but now its just xmas cards etc. That's all my claims to fame in one go as well

RachieW · 05/06/2009 19:35

Very proud mummy moment. J has eaten loads of tuna mixed in with a bit or tomato puree. This is the most he has eaten since starting blw. I've also just seen him use his pincer grip to pick up the tiniest flake!! Am so excited...can I just feed him purely on tuna now

aubergenie · 05/06/2009 20:10

It's great when it all starts coming together isn't it Rachie. Well done J!

Well, I'm nervous mentioning it in case I jinx it, but I think I'm finally making some headway with this No Cry Sleep Solution thing. S been put wide awake in his cot at bedtime and has settled himself to sleep 3 (count 'em) bedtimes in a row. This would have been unthinkable a while ago. I've stayed on the bed next to him but haven't needed to pick him up at all, or feed him to get him to sleep! Hopefully, this is the beginning of him learning to re-settle himself at night too.

MM- How are you feeling today.

Got to go - dp has brought my dinner in.

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/06/2009 20:29

Wow Aubergenie - that's fabulous!

OP posts:
aubergenie · 05/06/2009 20:40

She's not wrong when she says it's not a quick fix though, is she CSWS? But I do feel more hopeful that this could be the beginning of him learning to get himself back to sleep when he wakes in the night.

Did D go down OK this evening?

CantSleepWontSleep · 05/06/2009 20:52

Yes thanks - he was utterly knackered. Only got a 15/20 min nap this morning on the way to toddler group, and then surprised me by only sleeping for 30/40 mins this afternoon, so was well ready for bed by the time he went at 7:25. Have heard him stir a couple of times, but no proper wakes yet.

OP posts:
RachieW · 05/06/2009 20:52

Thanks Aubergenie- it's a bit like S's sleeping, finally a breakthrough. Well done to S and let's hope they both continue making their mummies very happy

star6 · 05/06/2009 21:04

awesome aubergenie! I might try that starting on the 19th June if Q is still not sleeping well since I'll have a couple of months at home not working to give it a go.

Rachie congrats on the feeding

csws sounds like duncan is doing much better through the night. congrats!

I'm wondering - I think it was last week that Q slept so well in cot all night, resettled well with little help from me, then this week went all horrible again and is in bed with me from 1ish... and This week is the week he started crawling forward finally (before was backward). so developmental leap? distracting sleep? Or am I grasping at straws??

Marthasmama · 05/06/2009 21:46

Hello!!!!! I've had no internet all day but I have been keeping up with you all on my iPhone.

Aubergenie - That is fabulous news. Well done on persevering and well done S for learning to settle himself. Good lad! I have borrowed The No Cry Sleep Solution from the library today so will have a read. I am feeling good today as I had a lovely busy with the dc and M has been really affectionate all day.

Loulou - You're DH sounds fab. I have lots of male friends (not like that you naughty lot) and he sounds just like some of my mates. Sounds like a good laugh! I think M might have calmed down a bit now but she has many of the traits of a high needs baby. I won't label her, but it sounds good when I tell others about her not sleeping.

CSWS - Good news that D is stiring but not fully waking. That sounds like progress!

Rachie - M loves tuna too. Well done J! M was entertaining my mum this evening shovelling potato in her mouth!

Argh... I can't remember everyone's news.....

Myjob - DH is taking exams????! Did you mention it before? Enjoy your time with your sister.

Pistachio - Well done for still being sane with all those sleep problems! Your DH sounds wonderful, you're a lucky lady (of course he's a lucky man too ).

I took M to be weighed today and she's put on nearly 2 pounds in 6 weeks! I couldn't believe it! She's gone from the 50th percentile to about the 70th. The HV commented on how long she looked so measured her and...... she's a giant! She's 72cms long and about the 95th percentile! I don't want a huge girl! I feel mean moaning about her growing so much when others are worried about slow growth but, bloody hell, she's massive! Could explain the terrible nights and the feeding. If she's been growing that much she must have needed the milk.

Marthasmama · 05/06/2009 21:56

Ronshar - I remember ds getting stuck standing up. It was soooo funny, but then I am very cruel. I agree about the 360 cup, I nearly get a hernia trying the suck water out.

Star - I forgot to say..... I don't think I could hack looking after children that aren't mine! Good idea though...for someone else more patient than I.

jenwa · 05/06/2009 22:00

haha loulou I am guessing some may end up naked depending on out come of the massage

mm well done M for that weight gain, bless her. I am sure she will even all out when she is running about, she obviously just needs her food at the mo.

pisatchio I love the idea of taking kids to town and dong all that but its so hard when you want to browse and they have tantrums etc. I do some internet shopping but its nice to go and try it on etc and also an excuse to get out without the kids I know what you mean about coming home empty handed, I think you just give up in the end as cant be bothered

star good plan for trying Q when you off, just try and get by for now and hope that you get some sleep.

I tried on bras today and I am shrinking need to increase my boobs and dont know how without surgery. I am trying to lose some weight too so think my tummy would be good in my boobs

Marthasmama · 05/06/2009 22:03

Jenwa - Just pull your belly up into your bra.....problem solved! You might need to hang upside down to get dressed though.
