Will be back after the Apprentice!

aubergenie · 03/06/2009 21:05

Oh Heather - that sounds horrible and scary. You poor things. I'm glad Alex is back home now though.

MM- Sorry you're having such a tough time. And it's horrible if it's affecting your daytime parenting as well. Has she gone to sleep now?

Star - I'm confused about the couscous too now! I thought it was durum wheat, like pasta and therefore a complex carbohydrate. Maybe it's got protein as well.

Anyway, 9 o'clock. Apprentice time.

heather1980 · 03/06/2009 21:05

they think that it was an infection of some sort that was doing it.
his white blood cell count was up so it suggested infection but some of the tests take 48 hrs to come back

ajm200 · 03/06/2009 21:07

Good to see so many of you still around.

Star Glad to hear you got to grips with the breastfeeding. You were going through hell last time I was on here.

MM I can feel for you. You do sound so fed up and I know what it is like. Amelia has been an awful sleeper until this week.. Taking ages settle and waking at the slightest thing. We struck gold by increasing her carbs and fresh air. She adores jersey royals so we've been feeding them to her as a snack before bed and she's gone 8 hours every night this week (fingers crossed and hoping to avoid a jinx). Before anyone worries she has three other balanced meals per day and breastmilk too.
Things will improve.. and I hope it is soon for your sake.

Got to go.. DH is hovering as this is his work PC and he needs for the conf call he is on... bye for now..

Marthasmama · 03/06/2009 21:11

ajm - Ooooooooo!!!!!! That sounds like a plan, however she did have a long walk with DH this afternoon and potato for dinner. But she didn't sleep during the day so she is probably over tired now.

Pistachio - No, she is with DH but I am going to take her up to bed now.

ajm200 · 03/06/2009 21:13

For those of you with naughty babies who play up, pinch and scratch during feeds.. check out jingle boobs necklaces.. I borrowed one as wasn't sure and it worked with Amy who now plays with the necklace instead of torturing me.

CantSleepWontSleep · 03/06/2009 21:17

This is the cup star.

MM. It's not like you to sound so down. The diff between letting her cry in the car and letting her cry in her cot is that in the car she can't have cuddles, but in her cot she can every few minutes if needed to help calm her. You need to do something to tackle the problem if it's affecting you like this, but you need to feel committed to whatever method you choose, or else you will subconsciously sabotage it.

Thanks for clearing up the frittata/tortilla debate pistachio . Mine had potatoes, leek, courgette, mushroom and cheese in, so I guess it was more tortilla than frittata.

Eek for hospital heather. So glad that it is under control now.

Am running behind with the Apprentice this week (currently watching the end of 'The Apprentice - Final 5' which was on just before), so please don't say who goes until I've caught up!

Ds slept for 2 hours 20 mins this morning (was up too early again, though not as early as the last couple of days), and 1 and a half hours this afternoon, so who knows what we're in for tonight. Have had to go back up to him just once so far since bed at 7:35.

OP posts:
Marthasmama · 03/06/2009 21:47

She is down now, so we're going to start watching The Apprentice now.

CSWS - I'm glad to know that I am normally breezy and chipper! I know we have to sort something out. We will start something at the weekend as DH and I can let each other catch up during the day if needs be. When M was tiny and wouldn't settle I just used to feed and feed and feed her until she settled...

Oh my goodness!!! I am watching Embarrassing Bodies until DH has finished work and Dr Jessen has an amazing body!

.....but that won't work now she's older as she is too crafty.

ronshar · 03/06/2009 21:56

MM I shall have to have a think for you. I shall see if I can find Dr Tanya for you. She can fix anyone

Heather, that sounds horrible. Poor baby & poor you.

I use a cow print cup but take the rubber bit out so W doesnt have to work hard to get the water out! I have an amadeus cup but even I struggle getting stuff out!

Marthasmama · 03/06/2009 22:01

OOo I love Dr Tanya. Thank you Ronshar.

jenwa · 03/06/2009 22:03

Oh god, its gone too quikly since I popped on this afty!!

Welcome back ajm been thinking about you. Sorry about the PND but glad you are getting better. Do come on here, its good to chat and get lots of help Glad Amelia is doing well (even though she is a dot)

star I give Phoebe quite a big bowl full, maybe just try increasing Q slightly and see if it works? Phoebe has been off her food recently, warm weather and slighty constipated too. I was shocked today, she had a poo as I lifted her legs to change her nappy and it looked like playdoh coming out one of those machines! I have actually never really witnessed a poo coming out like that before She has been straining all day bless her

MM Poor you agree with Ronshar though, I think you need to do something. Its horrible to hear them cry and be upset but when you know that she is actaully ok then maybe it is time to let her cry longer. SYou can go in and check she is ok but I think if you can get through this battle then you will have more precious time with lovely happy cuddles rather thatn cuddling because she is being a little monkey and wont sleep It is hard and the sickness is hard but if you watch her and keep checking then hopefully she will be ok. She knows at the end that mummy will pick her up so maybe she needs to learn that mummy has actually had enough now and is very tired and in need of some sleep

heather poor you and DS, how scary. I hope he is ok now.

Bugger missed apprentice! will watch tomorrow.

Off for shower then bed. Sleepy, been playing on stupid bejewlled!

Oh and will put everyon as an administrator on FB soon as then no one needs to wait for me to log on if I am not around.
Purple flower not been on here for awhile, see her on FB quite abit but not here.Agree it would be lovely to get osme more back, they are slowly wondering back in though so tthats good. Be nice to see sambrads and hear how accessorize is doing with the twins!

jenwa · 03/06/2009 22:05

blinking spelling!

aubergenie · 03/06/2009 22:11

I'd be interested in Dr Tanya's take on the sleep thing too. I like her. She always wears nice nail varnish too.

Marthasmama · 03/06/2009 22:20

She also likes a good cardigan Aubergenie

ronshar · 03/06/2009 22:27

Oh yes I loved her nails.
I think she might be my secret girl crush

Poor W he is coughing loads in his sleep!

Marthasmama · 03/06/2009 22:36

Oooo secret girl crush eh? Mine is Selma and her amazing boobs. Especially as she used them to feed a starving orphan when she was raising awareness of tetanus and the need for vaccinations in Africa. And continued to breastfeed her daughter beyond 12 months of age. Beat that stick insect Angelina.

jenwa · 03/06/2009 22:43

Oh have just made MM CSWS and MYJOB admins on FB. Was going to do everyone but thought that may e safer if only afew and you three were together so clicked you all will add more if you like but I know that if everyone who is on there (fb) may not be on here (mn) then it may be dodgy if that makes sense Thats rather rambled and kryptic!

Marthasmama · 03/06/2009 22:55

Jenwa - I feel all important now! Or is it because I am always on the laptop......

Ekka · 03/06/2009 23:05

Welcome back AJM, I'm really sorry to hear about the PND, but glad to hear things have improved recently.

MM, I'm sorry to hear you're having a tough time with sleep. I just fed both of mine when they woke/wake at night, so have no useful advice

Heather, how scary for you. I hope Alex is getting better now.

We use this cup for Matthew. I tried loads for Emily, and finally she settled for these ones, so with Matthew I just tried these first. It is a bit messy though

I've uploaded some pics of Matthew to FB, and added some to the FB group as well. He is up on his hands and knees now! He has discovered splashing in the bath recently and he & Emily were in the bath tonight and had a great time, giggling manically and making the worst mess ever, but I couldn't bring myself to stop them as they were having so much fun...

CantSleepWontSleep · 04/06/2009 07:04

yawn
How was your night mm? And yours Aubergenie? And yours star?

haha MM I also did think that you were on FB alot too

We use tommee tipee too but osmetimes when P has a big drink and takes it out her mouth a huge spurt comes out and she gets soaked!
Anyone got this annabal karmel cup? Saw it the other day and looked good.

All well here. Friend coming today so hopefully be a nice day. Think I may have a hoover

aubergenie · 04/06/2009 09:34

CSWS - I take it you didn't have a good night then? How about you, MM?

DS went down fine, slept till about 10.30, when I fed him then he wouldn't settle in his cot for ages. We've got the cot right next to the bed now and DP had his hand in there comforting him for a couple of hours while he moaned and groaned. Every time he lifted his hand, S would stir more and start to cry. Eventually DP got up and went to sleep on the sofa, I fed him again and brought him into bed. He still woke loads when he was in with me.

MM- DP's got a bit of a thing for Selma too.

Who was it said they'd got that cow cup? Was it Ronshar? We've got one, but dp threw the packaging away before I'd had a chance to look at it, and I don't know what that rubber thing is for. So we've been using that same Tommy Tippee one as Ekka. S loves it.

SOrry that was a really boring post. Tired.

star6 · 04/06/2009 09:54

csws not great. Q in my bed from 1am. tossing turning moaning flailing... desperate for milk only once though at 1.30. It's not like he's missing any meals... obvious by looking at him... but he's just starving.
Maybe next week will be a good week again?
