Thanks KSal. I am just totally clueless, it's just getting worse. It's stopping me from enjoying her during the day as I'm so tired and by 4 I am just building up to the hideous night. Does anyone want a second hand baby? She's very pretty and comes with an array of lovely accessories.

MM Im not one to offer advice but are you up for pick up put down or lou lous method? or controlled crying or csws method?

Ksal Q has very little hait, too! I was looking at Naomi's pics thinking how bald Q seems

MM- echoing Ksal on the sleep. I hope M settles soon.

Took J to baby group today and he played happily with the other babies and even let me go off to make a cup of tea. Phew! This evening he was really clingy, I got quite frustated as I was trying to put together dinner at the same time. Finally managed to settle him in his big rubber ring play gym by sitting next to him. He kept leaning over to me with one arm out and I eventually realised that it was his way of giving me a cuddle. Felt like crying because it was so sweet and the first time he's done this and also cos I'd been such a grumpy mummy. We then had lots of cuddles

I'm interested in the earlier overfeeding chat. I'm wondering if ds is a bottle feeding anomaly as I think that he's still feeding on demand. I offer him a bottle roughly every four hours and he sometimes has the lot sometimes, very little and will never take more than he wants. Also he will only eat food if he wants to and then very clearly lets me know when he's had enough. In fact I wish he'd eat a bit more as he is going very slowly with blw.

Hi AMJ- Amelia sounds a real cutie, looking forward to seeing the pic if you can upload it

Star - Pick up/put down drives her to hysterics as does leaving her to cry for more than 2 minutes. There is no way she'll go to sleep when she gets to that stage. I've tried staying with her, patting and shushing but she still ends up hysterical. She has no temperature, she doesn't appear to be teething, she's nice and warm, not too hot not too cold and has a lovely full tummy. I'm out of ideas. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Star - The only thing about couscous and sweet potato is that there's no protein in it. Couscous is basically the same as pasta, only ground smaller. Of course it depends on what Q is having the rest of the day.

I made some of that canellini bean stuff we talked about last week and that's a good filling in a baked potato or sweet potato. Is Q on finger food yet? If so, he could just suck out the filling, if not, you could scrape the middle out.

AJM - Welcome back. Very sorry to hear about your PND. I hope you are able to pop back and visit us from time to time. Trouble is this thread moves so fast it's difficult to keep up. We need someone to do a weekly round-up for those people who aren't able to get on regularly.

MM- I meant to respond to your question earlier but I forgot. S has cut down his feeds to about 4 big ones a day i.e. both sides. I don't know if he's having any more or less as before, he was snacking a lot (I just used to feed him whenever he wanted, and he was quite greedy!) and now his feeds seem to be more focussed, IYKWIM.

How did you get N to figure out the amadeus cup myjob?
Q came to school today and hung out with me while I "wrote reports" yeah right... everyone was procrastinating coming down to play with him. I'm thinking it's been too hot past few nights. As it's a bit cooler tonight I have more hope for a good sleep

AJM, bloody hell its been ages. Great to hear you are ok. PND is a bugger. If I rememeber correct you were pretty much expecting it! Dont disappear. Let us help you get back in the swing of things. Amelia sounds a cutie.
All we need is Sambrads, and a few others back, then we are almost at full numbers again.

MM you are going to have to get tough. No more giving into the mini sleep tyrant. It will be better for you both in the long run but hell on earth for a couple of weeks. M wont remember anything about it at this stage but leave it much longer and it could become a real issue for you all. Stern talking to over for now.

Ronshar - What do you think I should do with her to get her to sleep? That talking to wasn't stern enough, I was expecting more from you.

aubergenie - couscous says on the package that it's a good source of protein! wtf? I just can't trust packaging anymore! Thanks for that info.
I make him beans every other night. On the night he doesn't ahve beans, he has beans or lentils for lunch - I just cook and mash them up for him. He enjoys them.
He ate a hipp organic ruskit the other day (I know, horrible) but it was the first "finger food" he was able to handle because it turns to mush in his mouth and he didn't choke. I mashed up some peas last night and he gagged and gagged. ugh!

evening all.
i've had a bad few days. alex was admitted to hospital yesterday.
his temp was 39.5 and i just couldn't get it down so i took him to a&e. they admitted him for obs. it took them 9 attempts to get blood out of him, the poor thing was distressed and screaming the place down. he was dehydrated as well which didn't help.
i am so tired, the nurses were lovely though and really looked after me.
thankfully he's ok today and we were discharged this afternoon. he is much brighter and happier and his temp has stayed down.

Ronshar do you mean letting M cry?
Q went to bed so well tonight. I just don't know if it will last...
speaking of dark. Q sleeps better when the room is all dark than when there is a night light, in general. I think if they wake up and there's no light it's easier to fall back asleep? I could be totally wrong.

MM can you try what csws did? even if in hysterics, she will calm after a bit.

Heather! Poor Alex and poor you. Was it the ear infection that caused it? That must have been so horrible for you seeing him so distressed. I feel silly now for getting so down about the sleeping issue.

Star - I don't know if she would. She often nods off in the car but she has screamed for an hour in the car despite being so tired that she was nearly falling asleep on DH's shoulder moments before going in the seat. She also vomits if she gets into a state and cries for too long.

I sound so defeatist! She is just such a tricky little minx.

not sure what to tell you MM
Sorry!

Oh poor you and Alex heather I'm glad things are better now

Pistachio - lol at babies are dangerous.
Q bit me twice while feeding today and he doesn't have any teeth. It HURT. I said, "no" in a "firm" voice (which my students will tell you doesn't really sound "firm" at all... but I try very hard!) and Q LAUGHED at me! I wasn't smiling. I don't think he gets "no" at all.

Star - M thinks no is funny too. She has a lovely habit of reaching up to touch my face when she's feeding. Only it's not touching any more, it's scratching, pinching and pulling my hair. She also enjoys clamping down on my boob with he gums and pulls her head back as far as she can.

MM- J does that too, when he's having his bottle always pulling and trying to gouge my eyes out I'm sure My Mum told me to keep saying no and moving his hand until he understands no means no. Oh and last week he grabbed my hand and bit me on purpose I had a mark too...the monkey. Am sure he has got a naughty mischevious element to him.
