dh did once wear leg warmers. Well it was the 80s. And I didn't know him then!

LoveBuckets · 09/06/2009 21:44

Wow Steaky very impressive scraps use, how do you manage it without naps? My rule of thumb is that a baby has no business being awake for 3hrs, so I bung him in the cot and leave him to it. Or if really desperate we go for a drive and I get a cappuccino from the petrol station and listen to Radio 4. TBH this happens a lot because I have become hooked on The Archers and find it impossible to listen to the radio at home.

Right I'm off to watch old home videos of the kids on the camcorder (still haven't worked out how to edit or even watch them on a bigger screen.)

Steaknife · 09/06/2009 21:44

This is what I did today - as well as looking after lil one obv.

Finished sewing blinds for DDs room
Supermarket shop - 2nd half from yesterday as couldn't carry it all.
Counselling session with DH, DD tagging along.
Made chicken pie, stock, soup
Fed, bath and bed DD.
Two lots of laundry.
Swept and mopped all of flat.

Started at 8 finished at 8.30pm

What do DH's think we do all day?

Steaknife · 09/06/2009 21:46

Buckets she is in her cot for an hour and if she doesn't nap that is up to her, just glad the neighbours are out as she complains very vocally. It does mean she is over-tired lots of the time and needs lots of cuddles and attention but somehow we manage.

LoveBuckets · 09/06/2009 21:47

DS1 walks surprisingly well in my heels btw.

Steaknife · 09/06/2009 21:51

DH can't tell the difference between my white shirt and his - I sometimes wonder if I should just let him wear it to work for a day, flappy cuffs and all.

I now have to buy girly patterned socks as he stole all my plain ones.

He did acidentally take my wetsuit out diving once - it is a size smaller than his and with pointy-boob bits in it. Poor chap had to dive in it and was talking in a very high voice for the rest of the day.

ataraxis · 09/06/2009 21:56

Evening

steaky, sounds like more than enough in a day to me!

sazz, impressive workout there!

cc, I feel your irritation. DH seems to think it is fine for him to get up, go and sit at his computer, and generally hide while I do all the children things in the morning. I have taken to asking him to do specific things to help - shouldn't have to, but at least it means he does them and I don't rush around getting more and more annoyed. But at least you can think of him in legwarmers and feel mucho superior

I'm not easily shocked, but I was in Sainsbury's earlier, and a man turned around to his approx 10 year old daughter and said 'I am really frigging pissing annoyed at you' (think she had got separated from him) She looked so sad. What a horrid way to be spoken to by your dad

My main achievement has been passing my Prince2 renewal exam with.....91% {genius} . Actually am very pleased cos my deadline would have run out next Monday, and I only did about 2 days worth of reading for it - big embarrassment if my team all had theirs and I failed my renewal.

DD has a new brick trolley toy - oh my how pleased she was with herself when she found she could walk with it!

Not stopping tonight, but wanted to pop in and say hi - ds2 was up until 11pm last night - at least there were no arms down the toilet incidents...

So I hope you all have a lovely few days, will try to have some proper chat time soon.

Take care of yourselves

Steaknife · 09/06/2009 22:00

Right bedtime here.

LOL at madonnas wetsuit. A friend had the same style and neither of us could work out who the company had used to model the suits on, they really were a very odd shape.

Anyway, enough from me.

Night all.

ataraxis · 09/06/2009 22:00

Thanks sazz, yes they are. Bedtime NOW for me before I get caught up and feel like death tomorrow.

Miamla · 09/06/2009 22:02

DP has black socks and i have every colour other than black! i threw all my black ones out when he moved in!

well done ataraxis, not an easy feat if i remember correctly from when DP did his prince2
i was thinking about getting a brick trolley for DS and now you've convinced me! where did you get yours from? i saw some nice ones in ikea of all places at christmas

hmm, i'm tempted to go to bed and try and get an hour or so before my next alarm goes off. damn, he's so going to wake up as soon as i get to sleep now!

ataraxis · 09/06/2009 22:12

Hi Miamla, we got it from mothercare, their own version (£23). It has knobbly bits on wheels to slow it down - that's a thing to be careful of - we tried the vtech one with ds1, and it was just much too fast so he ended up on his face.

Now I really am going to bed.

poppysocks · 09/06/2009 22:13

More than an hour later I think I've caught up. Apologies in advance of the inevitable x-posts...

Grrr to the annoying DHs, but had to LOL at your DH listening to Top Gun. sazzles. I too love washing . Get a warm feeling at the sight of neatly folder piles of clean clothes and don't really mind ironing . Don't get me started on mopping floors though... My sympathies are with you thelovelyPF.

Can't complain about my DH as he has been an absolute star. After the nightmare that was DD2's attempt at being left at nursery last week, he took Monday off to be around in case there was a problem while I was at work (although did forgot to take her milk to nursery and was 30 miles away on his bike when they called realising it was missing ). However, as a result, he took the girls 100% on Sunday, having taken me out for an almightily slap up meal on Saturday night (punctured only by DD2 claiming that 4.40am was morining). He then sorted them completely yesterday and we got them up and out totally together this morning. I do love him [swoon].

oops - DD2's nappies have been terrible too since stopping bf. It's constipation though. Poor thing. Nursery's still a horror for her, but she has had a few moments of calm and contentment there allegedy. No work/nursery tomorrow and nothing planned but repeated snuggles.

Poor, poor you ALBS. Hope you're all feeling perkier soon.

lwfh · 09/06/2009 22:22

hello again, no - pf only 12 weeks, so we don't know if it is a boy or a girl, but we have the girls name saved up from last time, hence all the boys name waffle. Thanks for the double buggy comments. V useful. Will continue to think. 6.20pm here. DS has been asleep in the buggy for the last half hour, since getting grumpy and tired in the park. I will start some gentle noise to wake him up!

PS when I go away without DH he takes all his washing to the laundry to be done.

TwilightSurfer · 09/06/2009 22:47

ha ha ha my dh wears a dress nicely. he SWEARS he never did this but > one night (morning) when we were first dating, we stumbled in after a very long night at the bar ||fast-forward|| he put on my slinky fitted dress. LOL!!! it was absolutely too funny for words.

sazzles are you MAD woman? i wondered if it was me you were referring too. i think i skimmed through every note i had on how to spell T's name....the whole time thinking, "WHAT THE IS SHE TALKING ABOUT?" Now go drink your gin!

dang it! you have all gone and i'm left here in this tent all alone. why! why!

dd1 is STILL napping. don't think she'll be going to bed at a proper hour tonight.

reese won't let me leave her in her cage. she requires being held or being allowed to roam freely to put anything and everything in her mouth.

dh...((he's going to be so pissed i spilled the beans on him about the dress )) he's still at work.

on the dream dh topic: he's covering for me tomorrow and taking dd1 to her tennis lesson. what a good daddy!!!

OP posts:
TwilightSurfer · 09/06/2009 23:03

did i say reese was being a diva? i turned around after my last post, put her in the playpin, walked to the sofa, looked back...she's still in the seated position but out cold zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

oh this is going to be a bad night for sleeping children, isn't it? (note to readers: it's 6PM! here right now)

hotterpotter · 10/06/2009 08:15

Sorry to have missed all the chat last night, but DH was finally saving himself from the divorce court About flipping time.

Poppy I'm glad you have got your first week back over and done with. This time next week I will be on my way or even at work , depending on how long it takes me to get ready

Miamla your DS' naps were amazing yesterday. I hope he carried it on through the night

CC if that was my DH I would have been a bit cross too

Just finished breakfast and I've realised I forgot to put DS' bib on. His vest is a beautiful kaleidoscope of red (jam) green (kiwi) yellow (yoghurt) and orange (satsuma) I am going to miss feeding time at the zoo

oopsacoconut · 10/06/2009 08:42

WOt HP no brekkie??? What am supposed to eat this morning?

Well the sleeping thing didn't last last night we had the regular wake ups at 1, 4 and up for the day at 5.30. I managed to get er back for 40 mins at 6.30 then we woke DH up. She did totally refuse the bottle yesterday so that probably explains it.

gotta go DD eating shoes in the hall.

hotterpotter · 10/06/2009 08:46

Sorry Oops, there's probably half a portion smeared on DS's vest, I can scrape it off for you if you want

oopsacoconut · 10/06/2009 08:48

No ta, I'll wait until I can get to Costa. There is food in the house just not the food I want. Decaf Latte and chocolate twist here I come!

hotterpotter · 10/06/2009 08:56

Mmmmm I love those chocolate twists. Can't have one though, not till I'm a size 12

dizzydixies · 10/06/2009 09:44

4am wake up here and I mean AWAKE I brought her in with me and shoved a boob in her face but gave up at 5.15 and told DH to get up with her!! Which, bless him, he did as I have TONNES to do today and he has nothing asusual! they are both now snoring away upstairs, I've dropped DD1 at school, DD2 and her wee friend at nursery and now I have to make cakes for the school fete tonight - and of course its chucking it down so they're all most disappointed at the school, wee souls!

am going out for lunch and then off to hosp to visit my friend and her extremelly prem baby - am a bit wary actually mine all came out with teeth, tattoos and schoolbags and were probably the same size as her when they were conceived. Shall ooh and ahh appropriately and hope nobody gives me the responsibility of holding her in my big manly clumsy shovels man hands [meep]
