Oooh my tummy is rumbling with all that talk of pizza, bacon and bagels. Nothing so virtuous as grapefruit here but once I have had my cuppa there will be rice krispies and cheerios on offer, with semi-skimmed milk, natch.

Sorry to hear your DH's being unhelpful this morning Sazzles and Oops, mine is snoozing too but he did get up before 7 yesterday and let me lie in until after 9am We may be stony broke but having an unemployed DH certainly has its advantages

hotterpotter · 05/06/2009 07:41

Hurrah for Emma

THink of all the extra exercise Sazzles as you constantly flit around moving things out of her reach

sambo303 · 05/06/2009 07:52

mmm I'll help myself to everything thanks oops

I'm letting dp lie in today as he's going to look at some 'work' later. I have no sympathy with his tiredness lately though as he's been going to bed at 1-2am...why?

ds up at 9pm, 11pm, 1am and 6.30am so not the most horrendous night ever but still not good.

well done Emma - ds still mostly stationery, though getting better at moving forward on his tummy instead of rolling to the side... hoping to pick up stairgates at NCT sale tomorrow

gasping for cup of tea....off to put kettle on

dizzydixies · 05/06/2009 07:56

not a good night here either and have to let DH sleep as he was on till 3am and back in for nights tonight, oh and a 3000 word assignment to do inbetween

DD1 coughed all night, DH came in just after 3am and Dylan up at just before 6am [sigh] she's not happy crawling about, she's not in the mood for her high chair and just gets annoyed as I have to strap her down to stop her standing up in it and she's been whipping the ankles off me with her sodding walker [meep]

am off to get DD1 ready for school, try to get Dylan to nap and all whilst DH and DD2 (who was up till after 10pm ) snooze on

sorry for whinge, shall try better later on

oopsacoconut · 05/06/2009 08:46

Sazzles - are our girls on the same wave length? DD crawled to get the crocs I had moved to stop her eating them so I kept moving them to make her move which of course didn't work

No chance of a nap here - carpet fitter arriving at 9.30 then HV coming for some reason to check how the bottles are going and how I am coping. I wonder who dobbed me in to the HVs?

poppysocks · 05/06/2009 09:03

LOL at being dobbed in to HVs oops. How is it going?

Sorry to hear there's been so little sleep around.

Feeling very down here this morning. Wish I could talk about it here as I know you'd all be great, but I know DH would prefer I didn't at the mo. DD2 being super whiney. Guessing it's all wrapped up in stopping bf and being deserted at nursery.

Have now given final bf and didn't realise it. Had planned that this morning's would be last, but DD2 woke late and I was already giving DD1 breakfast. I know that I did well to get this far, but just feel so sad that my last baby is growing up.

On the up side (literally) I am enjoying wearing proper bras again.

CaptainCaveman · 05/06/2009 09:07

[yawn] tired here too. DS1 up at 4am then again at 6am, at which point he declared he was 'going downstairs' so I left him to it. Half an hour later he keeps yellling 'mummy' getting progressively louder....[grrrrr]Eventually (6.50) me and ds2 join him downstairs.
Anyway.

O now has 2 little teeny tiny top teeth and is still crawling commando style. He's also got a chest infection, a cold, conjunctivitis and eczema all over his tummy. He's still smiling though bless him!

Off to catch up on 5 days of thread....

pertelote · 05/06/2009 09:25

Aw CC bless little O smiling through his ailments!

Poppy sorry the nursery/end of BF transition is difficult. At least you can talk about that as much as you need here - while quietly worrying about the other issue - and we will send general sympathies!

Dizzy and Oops I actually felt disappointed this morning when I remembered I was going out for lunch and therefore couldn't have a bagel!

Sambo which sale are you going to? I'm meant to be going on a picnic but I haven't heard whether there's a plan B in case of rain (which looks inevitable)...

Sazzles well done Emma! Marianne let go of hands while standing yesterday which is the first time. Still not crawling but I am starting to believe the many, many people who predict she will go straight to walking.

dizzydixies · 05/06/2009 09:29

don't panic girls am going to phone Poppy and sort her out

LoveBuckets · 05/06/2009 09:33

Ataraxis Looks like a vibrator for surfaces more than orifices iyswim, the non-stick coating means it will glide over skin, the usual rubber ones are a bit clammy.

TS Re your party, how about a big bowl of chilli on the stove, some rice etc and people can just walk about with a bowl and spoon?

Onion bagels make a delish grilled cheese btw.

Dizzy You could do slices of home-made pizza cold and offer to zap them if anyone wants. My fave local baker does yummy cold pizza slices. Are you going to make and package a load of sandwiches for takeaway first thing? You could v easily do fancier fillings using pesto mayo, mango chutney mayo (taddah, coronation chicken), lime & coconut mayo (taddah, Thai chicken). They can buy dull food anywhere, people should flock to your cafe for the cupcakes and yuppy butties.

LoveBuckets · 05/06/2009 09:41

Poppy Fingers crossed it all sorts itself out by magic.

I saw Synechdoche NY at the cinema on Wed, so peculiar and clever and up itself it was quite boring, don't bother. I just lay on the floor and let Kurt and his little friend crawl all over me!

Kurt has recently decided it's funny to pull my top down and blow raspberries on my cleavage. Have realised his whingeiness lately is actually because he wants someone to help him stand all the time (and admire him, natch), not that he wants me there or wants a cuddle.

Here's a Q, does anyone have a toaster that doesn't drop crumbs out of the bottom constantly?

Miamla · 05/06/2009 09:44

pertelote dd may not be crawling but she does have a v delightful bum shuffle

gah! i'm full of cold, no sleep (awake at quarter past every hour last night), DS showing signs of my cold, drilling next door, argued with dp last night blah blah blah

i'm going to go before i bring you all down with me

cyteen · 05/06/2009 11:50

dizzy I lurrrve onion bagels

CC glad to hear O is still smiling through it all - see, we all told you it would be worth the wait all those months ago

Buckets am lol'ing at 'yuppy butties' There's a marketing opportunity there.

I have to say how very impressive the ladies of the Aug 08 thread are: mass party organising, cafe running, house decorating, studying, working, FBGing, crafting, swimming powerhouses. I salute you all. And all while super-mumming!

Also impressed at how forward so many babies seem to be. Joe is the apple of my eye of course, but he's not clapping, saying anything recognisable, crawling forwards, pulling up to stand...on the other hand he is brilliant at eating, currently likes to climb all over me, and yesterday morning he latched onto my stomach and gave me a lovebite .

CaptainCaveman · 05/06/2009 12:09

Lol at your lovebite cyteen, how cute is that? I think Oliver tries to sharpen his teeth on any part of me that he can latch on to!

miamla my profoundest apologies for not saying hello to you last saturday morning, way back at the beginning of this particular thread . So hello especially to you Miamla

And hello everyone else too

Got to dash, Oliver downstairs safely secured in high chair whilst i mm banging for attention!

TwilightSurfer · 05/06/2009 13:32

Poppy now I really worried. What on earth "couldn't" you talk about with us? {{{hugs}}}

Sorry to rant and run last night. I can't voice any frustration in RL regarding the PARtAY because then DH gets all in a tizzy. He starts in with YOU KNOW THIS ALWAYS HAPPENS and then goes on to THEY ALWAYS MAKE YOU FEEL BAD blah blah blah blah.

HP's right on target though I makes me feel good that so many want to come. I have one aunt who is totally excited about my new kitchen and another aunt only seems to come to my functions (she doesn't care to much for the other aunts).

Food prep has already started. Amazingly I'm not really stressed. I picked fairly easy things to make.

The concern is over seating and my thought is, If your too good to stand or sit in an odd place to eat then maybe a real PARtAY is not your speed. This is a 1pm event with food to visit with my dad....the food is really secondary, right? RIGHT! Although I believe it will be excellent.

Enough about me me me me me me me .

I better see you all out back tomorrow for mojitos. AND as a little suprise, I've still got some margarita mix from the last party that needs to be "taken care of".

TwilightSurfer · 05/06/2009 13:45

YAY! Oops!! THE CAT BEWARE!!!

hotterpotter · 05/06/2009 13:50

Wow Oops there'll be no stopping her now. Bang goes your resting on the sofa

TS deep breaths it will be fine . And I thought you ought to know how easily suggestible I am - kitchen worktop currently sporting a pot of mint and a lime for my attempt at mojitos tonight Honestly you lot can persuade me to try owt

dizzy can you please do chocolate cornflake cakes for me at your cafe? . My absolute favourite.

Meatballs and rice too - or is that going to far down the catering road and will annoy the delightful Mr Fisher?

oops hugs to you, whatever you are going through we are always here even if you aren't able to talk about it

Don't worry TS and all others kind enough to sympathise, dizzy bucked me up this morning. Just hearing all about the exciting developments at the cafe and your enthusiasm and drive for it all was a real lift dizzy, as were your kind and well chosen words. Thank you so much.

Can't wait for your visit btw sazzles. Dizzy and I have been plotting...

Mood also significantly improved by DD1's dancing class, which is utterly hilarious. 8 x 3 yr olds trying to be graceful, including one dressed as superman, but all so sincere. It is also the weekend. Happy weekend one and all!
