Hmm, I would say that a muffin is more robust and can cope without a paper case or indeed icing. A cupcake should surely have its top covered in icing and therefore needs a paper case to hold it all in place? A fairy cake is merely a hastily whipped up bog standard 4ozx4oz4oz sponge mix with a dollop of icing and sprinkles to pacify the kids at short notice.

Grr typing blind here my laptop is being soooo slow.

I painted my living room last night while DH was out - was meant to be a surprise for the morning but he noticed. It's a salmon/coral colour so that wasn't too hard. And then he shagged me so he can't hate it that much. Looks fab though, will look fabber still with clashing red Ikea sofa & chairs, white wooden venetians and massive black chandelier. Suddenly realised I have this cake party coming up so if I was going to do the room, I needed to follow every energy spike when it happens.

I've had a headache for three whole days.
AF arrived today (finally) in GRAND fashion.
Schedule packed full from dusk till dawn.
I'm up every 5 hours at night feeding Reese still.
Party of 10 for Saturday just turned into party of 30.
I only have seating for 12.
Still no word if my brother will be there.
That would be MORE guests.
Internet is FLAKING out so only intermittent service.

Considering leaving town or calling a rental service.
I need more seating.
I may need more food.
I will definitely need more Motrin.

TS frankly sounds like you need more mojitos

with a party that size sit down shouldn't be an option - do a fabulous buffet and get them all pissed so they don't remember they stood hope the headache passes quickly

another croc muncher in this house who is going through a stage of REFUSING to be put down and yet when I hold her she is pushing herself away. crawling like a demon although we have open wooden stairs (call the stair police ) so she's not allowed near them but she managed the carpeted ones at the farm, she can stand up - in her cot and high chair of all places but thats as far as she's getting for now

oops after a meeting today about the business plan I have to sit and work out all the costings for the menu and actually, now that I come to think of it, make up the menu

VG you can write my foreword for the cafe cookbook - it may look remarkably like the AVOCA ones though

poppy how pants, will give you a call over weekend but let me know if I can help at all

will be back later, DH on late shift so I have the agony pleasure of the bath/bed nightmare all on my own again tonight as well as doing some work on his essay for him - at least I don't need to do any ironing!!!

dizzydixies · 04/06/2009 19:10

oh and bloke has said no to a deli part straight off as we don't have time to stick in the business plan so looks like no wee jolly down to london to the foor fair

lentil rather liking the sound of being a windswept and interesting BTB character - I've got the real life poncey name too

miamla quite fancy a wet room if you could muster one of those rather than an ensuite?!?

oopsacoconut · 04/06/2009 19:56

DH would like me to clear up a little issue - He does own crocs but only wears them for gardening he does NOT wear them out in public, should anyone come to visit they are well hidden so no one see them.

Chicken roasting, veg roasting, the lovely man delivered the shopping, DD sleeping and a bottle of rose chilling for DH. (ooh crocs and rose make him sound very macho!}

dizzydixies · 04/06/2009 20:07

pmsl - poor Mr Oops feeling the need to defend his footware to a gaggle of burds!

dinner sounds lovely oops, DD2 not appreciating hers so much and just fed it to the dog when I was upstairs putting Dylan down - now demanding yogurts etc

hotterpotter · 04/06/2009 20:47

LOL at your rose-drinking croc-wearing DH Oops I don't buy the gardening excuse though, as a croc-wearer myself (oh the shame) I know they are good for most situations but they really let the soil in... How are you feeling today? How's DD managing with her ff?

Yes my DS also likes eating crocs and flip flops but he has always been partial to footwear. There is definitely some doggy in him somewhere, he can often be seen crawling around with some favourite toy or another stuck in his mouth

Dizzy sounds like this cafe is really taking a lot of organising, which you seem to be doing expertly Do you have any idea what sort of timescale there is until you hopefully open?

TS you should take it as a compliment that so many want to come, then send out for food (and strong drink)

Buckets your room plan sounds amazing. You're really gonna wow those cake ladies!

Cyteen I hope day 2 has been OK for DS too. He'll soon get used to it, and at least you still get him to yourself two days a week. Just think of work as a rest for your main carrying arm.

Poppy sorry to hear you are having a shite time Hope things pick up soon.

Everyone, helllooooo

Re No, DS knows perfectly well what it means as I firmly say it to him as he is about to rummage in the nappy bucket/eat catfood/chew DH's records. He stops momentarily, turns to me and grins, then tends to continue what he is doing . It usually just gives me enough time to scoop him up out of harm's way.

dizzydixies · 04/06/2009 20:57

hots I was aiming for the end of the summer but with the planning application online now, I'm chasing up the architect for building warrants which could take 6-8wks and then the same timescale again for the work that needs done - I'm hoping tokickitupthearse get it all done a bit sooner though

dizzydixies · 04/06/2009 20:58

oh and I might manage to get some work done on it if I could stop looking at the planning online to see if any more comments have been put on

hotterpotter · 04/06/2009 21:16

Am going to have a look at it now too!

dizzydixies · 04/06/2009 21:17

lol

hotterpotter · 04/06/2009 21:36

Ooh Dizzy I know where you live now

hotterpotter · 04/06/2009 21:40

Also meant to say I really wanted to leave a comment berating that man on his spelling/grammar but I thought that might piss him off a bit...

I will be thinking of the silvery Tay for a week now every time I see you also remembering weekends drinking Buckfast in Dundee with an old boyfriend many years ago he was at Uni and I used to go and visit him - 8 hours on the National Express coach from Leeds was worth it though

ah, I started in 1994 so we just missed each other, small world though isn't it! I did another shift at the cafe and was working with the sister of my parents next door neighbour - my parent's house is over 100 miles away. the shift before I was working with a girl I used to work with at the uni library and well, you all know who I met the first time

really is a small small world sometimes!!

ataraxis, did you find some nice undies at least

ataraxis · 04/06/2009 22:03

sazz, it's not pornographic (I don't think, but as I don't know what you are supposed to do with it...) but clearly no-one else does either, so I am feeling marginally less old.

oopsacoconut · 04/06/2009 22:05

hi everyone

DD did okay on the bottle today - she took 4 oz at 11 4oz at 3 and 3oz at bed so getting there.

DD was laughing at my NO but yesterday I had to yell it at her as I couldn't get to her before she pulled the speaker on her head, no when I say no in a low firm voice she bursts into tears, so I distract her with a toy.

Sazzles - Salsa verde was great Dh added a couple of extra anchovies to his.

Poppy - sorry things are not great at the mo. {{{HUGS}}}

Dizzy we have the refusing to be put down too, she screams until she can't see me then she starts playing as if I didn't exist Please to see things are progressing cafe wise - let me know if you want any ideas/info on food plans. Also I have an online company that does Food Safety in Catering certificates for not too much money.
