sorry dizz, missed your last line! blimey! so is it all go go go?

dizzydixies · 03/06/2009 22:36

miamla it would be if we had any money, it seems that I am running about like a headless chicken and not sure if I'm getting anywhere - another meeting tomorrow, was volunteering in a cafe today and am sitting trying to do costings and research online tonight. I'm going to have to start seeing some serious results here or am going to start getting annoyed

your brother sounds lovely btw - much nicer than my big useless lump

Miamla · 03/06/2009 22:36

feck it, i'm going to bed! DS bound to wake up whatever time i go up so now's as good as any

night all, hope you all have lots of sleeping babies tonight and happy smily ones in the morning

Miamla · 03/06/2009 22:38

sorry, x post with you there!

"big useless lump"? didn't know you'd met my other brother!

where's the money coming from?

dizzydixies · 03/06/2009 22:39

night miamla I should be going soon too but DH will need the laptop in the morning for his essays so I have to get all my work done for my meeting now

Miamla · 03/06/2009 22:43

night sazz

dizzydixies · 03/06/2009 22:48

oh lovely Miamla - can't wait to hear your favourites

there is a speciality & fine food fair on in London in Sept - am thinking I should really go to that

pertelote · 03/06/2009 22:56

Absolutely you should Dizzy! Congratulations on progress made by the way, I'm sure it is frustrating on the way but you do seem to be creeping forwards with it...

Miamla this was Mudchute, don't know how easy that would be for you... into Stratford and then about as far again out the other side I suppose!

Going somewhere nice Sazzles? (You've probably said, sorry )

Ello again.

Computer hijacked from DH who is frantically busy at the moment.

He's also fecked off because a school in Dundalk gave out the wrong Leaving cert (A level) paper to their students this afternoon so all the students doing English in the State have had their paper postponed from tomorrow until Saturday morning so that there's time to distribute the back-up paper.

It's the first time it's happened since the 60s but they're his first batch of Leaving students and he is v. protective of them. Poor kids.

Oops, my DH who generally gives the impression he thinks you are all imaginary was v. upset on your behalf about the feeding. But it has taken him 3 children to really 'get' what an important part of your life it is when you are doing it. It is great that you are managing to keep one feed going.

Miamla - good to hear that your doc is on your side. at the receptionists though.

DD2 is climbing the stairs too-she goes up 3, turns and waves to get me to follow and repeats every few steps to make sure she has back-up. Tis very funny.

She has also learned to climb a big step in our back garden so that she can get follow her daddy back inside.

Dizzy-you are in the early days of empire-building like a woman in one of those Barbara Taylor Bradford trilogies I loved as a teenager. You will look back on the tribulations and laugh at them. [hopeful emoticon]

Sazzles - the salsa verde sounds lovely. Dinners around here are getting a bit ropey as DD2 is clinging to my leg (or) not clinging to my leg and demolishing spice jars.

Cyteen - I hope you had a lovely evening with your boy.

Pertelote - when I went back after DS was born I did a third day's work in the evenings if that makes sense. Do they need you on call on a specific day or do they want you to do an amount of extra stuff during the week?

Be quick though. DS ate three shredded wheat this morning and was complaining he was famished about 10 minutes later ...

oopsacoconut · 04/06/2009 06:41

Morning

ataraxis · 04/06/2009 07:15

morning oops - bit of a mixed night for you then, I hope you get a chance to get some reast today.

Croc sucking - seems to be a recent baby phenomenon, dd does the same thing with ds1's - she loves them.

Thanks red and for the poor kids having their exam postponed, and for your poor DH.

congrats dizzy, sounds really promising. I am so impressed that you are managing to get organised on this amidst the madness of the children.

Miamla · 04/06/2009 08:51

dizz i haven't even been brave enough to open the book yet but the one on the cover looks pretty. baking scares me so you may have to hold my hand [pathetic emoticon!]
Oooooh, a food show in London? Us Londerners will be fighting over who you stay with

RedLentil · 04/06/2009 09:37

With the phone, storing it high up is the only way. No baby is fule enough to be persuaded by a toy plastic yoke either.

Then, with other stuff, distract. So, say no to the bin, and then either offer him something in another part of the room or scoop him up and go to look for birds out of the window.

As far as he's concerned the no thing is a game, where he repeats and you repeat your part. I made a hash of all this with DS and he's as stubborn a a mule.

With the stairs, it's a good idea to let them practise climbing up so that they can do it safely. Leave the gate open at the top in case they get up unsupervised, but train them to get to the top and slam it behind them. DD1 could do this and the one time she got away she did as she'd been told.

Got to run now. Hope the sun is shining there.

Tis gorgeous here.

sambo303 · 04/06/2009 10:41

gorgeous here too lentil thanks for brekker ,yum

cant remember anything I've read as too tired, ds up several times last night, dp sleeping it off. Why why why wont he sleep? How am I going to cope when I'm working Advice from friends and family is: let him cry!! I just cant do it though, I just want to give him a hug dp's the same, we are just softies

oops are those fairy cakes costing £1.50 marketed as 'cup cakes' ? that usually means they cost twice as much as the humble british fairy cake..mmm cake

ps no crocs allowed in this house so ds will miss out..

I must admit I've been using the occasional firm 'no' with DD2 for a while, but that's just been for DD1's benefit. So, if DD2 is holding her bowl over the side of her highchair with intent, or pulling DD1's hair I say 'no' to her, so that DD1 knows it's not acceptable from either of them. There was a big 'no' when we also had a cheek biter miamla. It was DD1 who was the target here. Poor thing was left with a huge mark. Start of the revenge for the 10 months of one-sided mauling methinks.

Unutterably shit week here. Can't go into it as it's not to do with me, DH or the girls, but people we love (public forum, friends from RL on here etc.). DD2 also really, really resisting nursery. So thought she'd be ok with it but has instead worked herself up each time, refusing milk/food/sleep. Looking forward to Monday even more now.

cyteen · 04/06/2009 13:46

Can everyone please stop talking about cake, I have been very virtuous this week apart from an isolated biscuit incident and don't need the temptation.

poppy sorry to hear of your unspecified woes, and the nursery woes too I'm still on the fence as to how I feel about DS being in nursery and I think he is too...he was absolutely fine yesterday evening, very cuddly and smiley (and knackered!) but I've got a funny feeling he will be much less happy about it all today. Once is an adventure but twice, three times...it's such a big change for them.

And us - I am so used to holding him and cuddling him all day long, I miss nuzzling his neck and having babble matches with him.

Thanks for the salsa verde recipe Sazz - one question, do you use tinned anchovy fillets or the poncy tasty marinated kind?
