SECOND TOOTH, Arrrrggghhh, being bitten to shreds

missjackson · 02/06/2009 21:09

Ouch for second tooth pat, that's crazy at four months, no?! I was sure Nye was teething a couple of days ago, but nothing has emerged. How are you coping with the biting?

tree love the woolies, and have also been keeping up with your camping thread, sounds like you are going to have a busy week at this rate!

Another scorcher of a day here in London - we were supposed to be going into town to meet a friend but he cancelled because his DD got chicken pox (it's everywhere, it seems!) - was secretly relieved as the tube will be very hot. Ended up at Kenwood House on the Heath, walking around in the woods and having lunch with sister and BIL - very relaxing.

Has taken me 90 mins to get him to sleep tonight though - am really exhausted by the whole business actually and feel a bit down-heartened. I feel like somehow I have created this situation for myself - where I am the only one who can get him to sleep because I have the magic nipples. I am supposed to be going out tomorrow night, and I know my sister will never get him to sleep - best she can hope for is an hour's kip while being rocked in the car seat or pram. Anyway, sorry for glumness.

On the bright side, am very excited about meeting elkie and hkz tomorrow in Finsbury Park!

Hope you are all staying cool and loving the sunshine x

treedelivery · 02/06/2009 21:15

It's chilly here!

hongkongzoe · 02/06/2009 21:26

Tree Lovely pics of your DDs on your profile page, both completely gorgeous!

MissJ I love Kenwood House, walking round the woods was an old favourite past time of mine, especially on days like these! Am looking forward to tomorrow too. Don't feel too disheartened about getting Nye to sleep...they learn to get themselves off to sleep eventually, and they grow so fast just enjoy the cuddles while they are this size...even though it is hard when you are exhausted and need a glass of wine and some time to yourself without a baby attached!

Haven't had a chance to catch up properly on thread. Am off for a bath and bed...

stripeywoollenhat · 02/06/2009 21:32

moose, poo sounds delightful. v pleased for you both

pat, i am also being bitten, albeit toothlessly, so i more or less feel your pain. i dread to think what it's going to be like when she actually has teeth (i suspect it might be like a crash course in learning to drink using some sort of drinking vessel which has no nerve endings...)

tree - trews adorable

dog - hopefully tomorrow re house

think i've finally got the little bugger small one to go to sleep. there must be some sort of alcoholic drink around here with my name on it....

Oooooh!! Yeeeee HArrrrrr!!

Hurrah!

treedelivery · 02/06/2009 21:44

MissJ - I hear ya! I feel the same. Like the rod for our own back. If it's any concilation to any of us.....we were very determined with dd1. She self soothed, slept only ever in her cot. No discussion.

once she could walk and was brave enough, she simply got up and leapt in with us in the middle of the night!

It's like Vegas, the house always wins.

Yeah DOG!!!!!

Congratulations Dog

LOL at all the poo talk

Looking forward to tomorrow in Finsbury Park too

elkiedee · 02/06/2009 22:03

Ray, think you can take Esme in a black cab.

moosemama · 02/06/2009 22:05

Yay Dog! Fantastic news! I am soooo pleased for you.

Stripey and MissJ sorry to hear about little ones not settling. Don't know if it will offer you any hope, but Elizabeth was a right pita to settle for a couple of weeks recently but seems to have sorted herself out now. Hopefully its just a developmental phase.

Ouch! For the biting though honestly, the things we Mums have to go through for the little darlings.

I have just found out that we have 3 houseguests on Friday night in our tiny little house. They will all have to crash on our lounge floor, which frankly I could do without, especially as one of them is an inveterate complainer. (Love her really but she can be a real downer if she's not kept comfortable 24/7.)

This means that I now have to spend the next 3 days doing masses of housework. Not a thought I relish in this hot weather and I was hoping to hit the shops again for a last ditch attempt at a new outfit. Bah, grumble, grumble, mutter, mutter.

moosemama · 02/06/2009 22:08

Oi! Elkie you laughin' at my baby's poo?

Well actually it was pretty hilarious - I have honestly never seen anything like it in my life - and I've got two boys. At least I know I can safely dress her in her new white trousers tomorrow.

missjackson · 02/06/2009 22:20

Yey for new house dog, how exciting! Personally I am never moving again.

Blow the housework MM, way too hot. Just sweep all surface debris without sorting it into a large ikea bag and stash away in your room. Hoover, and voila.... the illusion of clean.

stripey I too am off to the fridge...

See you tomorrow elkie and hkz!

PatTheHammer · 02/06/2009 22:40

dog Yay for house! so excited for ya

MissJ Elkie HKZ have a great meet up tomorrow! Am off to my local meet-up tomorrow afternoon, wish me luck! DD also has playgroup and a lunchtime party tomorrow, so no doubt will be a nightmare and go down in history as the worst ever behaved child at a MN meet-up!

tree like the woolies! Had to chuckle at your comments on DD's bedtimes escapades, you can't bloody win can you!

moose we have house guests to this weekend, I sympathise wholly. BTW Detox shot to shit today as I had an ice lolly and glass of wine. WILL TRY HARDER tomorrow, I pronmise.......All though have to say, even the thought of being on it has kept away the chocolate cravings, maybe its all psychological! Glad you had the poo explosion, I'm expecting one tomorrow .

Oh, I am NOT coping with the biting!!!! Luckily he is doing less feeds in the day and night-time he doesn't bite. Substituting a bottle a lunchtime anyway in preparation for return to work, so the rest of time I just grit my teeth and try not to 'pull' him off if he bites (my first reaction!)

moosemama · 02/06/2009 23:21

Pat I am really suffering for lack of sugar tonight. Killer headache and totally exhausted. Hoping I'll be able to work through over the next couple of days. Cravings are awful tonight as well.

In fact, am off to bed now to hide from the fridge.

elkiedee · 02/06/2009 23:39

Pat, sounds like you have a busy day

Moose, actually I was laughing because I also had to deal with a minor explosion today, C is also a once every few days - I think today was 5 days - the last one was something like 8!

treedelivery · 02/06/2009 23:44

To bed Moose - where there is no sugar. I have to run away from the kettle. Large mug of hot sweet tea is bellowing calling me!

Day of poo and burps and sicks here - but she is asleep somewhere other than our arms for 1st time in 2 days.

missjackson · 03/06/2009 03:24

3.22am. Nye is lying on bed, kicking and shouting 'ooh' happily. And has been that way for the past hour! Am praying that it's just London that has unsettled him so much. I can deal with feeding at night, once, twice, however much he needs it, but he always used to basically stay asleep. It's this being awake thing I can't deal with!

Hope you are all sleeping peacefully!
