Lady T my DH remembers sitting on the toilet -his favourite place for reading-balling his eyes out reading that book. He thought it was fantastic

GBB-glad the twins are doing so well

Whoever was talking about soft play in half term-the one near us was a nightmare as well today. Not great when you are exhausted. My DS2 (as predicted as his siblings did the same), has taken to waking LOADS in the night. I was so tired this morning I felt like I had been clubbing the night before

SummerLightning · 27/05/2009 22:48

Quick post.
Dh playing plane game on my phone and will want me to sleep when he finishes.
LadyT I want to read your late DH's book now. May get it for my dad for his birthday. And then steal it.
lal I love the word shenanigans. Shenanigans. Mmmm.
jj naughty DD with her wriggly wriggling. Poor thing. But am sure she is fine.

Similar tales of falling - we were at the beer festival the other day and DH was holding DS so he was "standing up". Then he decided to say, "You just stand here while I grab my beer" and let go of him. Obviously this was meant to be a cunning joke where he caught him "just in time" but no, he failed completely and DS fell on his face. In the middle of the beer fest surrounded by hundreds of people to witness our crap parenting. And DS cried. Lots. But he's fine.

Morning,

Bird Glad your twins are growing up well. They sound lovely!!

We are having a nightmare with our pushchair. I fixed 2 punctures last night and woke up to find the tyre flat again. I was planning a long walk this morning so will have to try to fix it again.

Hope you are all ok.

notjustanumber · 28/05/2009 07:36

Morning. JJ A meetup would be great, I'm going back to work 3 days a week from 1st July

I've missed something again, I'm sorry I often dont have time to catch up properly. What book is of LadyT's ? I'm on chick lit at the moment, its about all I can manage.

EffiePerine · 28/05/2009 07:52

Kayz: we I get lots of punctures with the P&T as well, always seems to be the rear right wheel for some reason. You can get replacement inner tubes from Halfords, much cheaper than the ones P&T sell you (and they had a 3 for 2 offer last time I went so I stocked up).

Summer: lol at the baby dropping incident! We've all done it (some of us more than once .

Finally got round to getting a blackout for DS1's room and he didn't wake till past 7 . I cheated and cut out a big bit of blackout fabric (from the remnant shop) and hung it over the normal curtains. I got a bit confused over the metric measurements in the sho and bought 4 metres, so there's quite a bit left over! DS2 also (coincidentally) slept from 8ish to 2am, a massive improvement over recent nights, plus he stayed in his cot till 4. I'm thinking of putting him in DS1's room soon (eek!) as I think he does stir when he hears (and smells) me. Eek!

We are Tesco shopping people, touch wood no probs so far. It's turning up this afternoon so I'll let you know. I do miss Morrisons

Have you tried the activities at the various children's centres in Hackney? Google hackney sure start for details

EffiePerine · 28/05/2009 07:54

too many eeks - am not a mouse

EffiePerine · 28/05/2009 07:55

re books I had a thread on biogs and got lots of interesting ideas, will be compiling a list and trotting along to the library

tillyfernackerpants · 28/05/2009 08:19

lol @ effie & poison! effie our Somerfield is turning into a Morrisons, am ridiculously excited at the thought of a butcher counter !

Once again I guessed wrongly in the Apprentice last night, dh is getting very smug now!

modern dh plays for Southgate, but again only every so often now, mainly when the games are close to home

daisy hope the builders finish on time! Don't blame you for getting out of the way!

Cooking, if I'm in the mood I do enjoy it but it does tend to be I have to cook to eat nowadays. I think my brother got all the cooking genes!

Looks like another miserable day here, had planned a picnic at Kew but guess I'll have to think of something else.

Kayzr · 28/05/2009 09:38

ARGH!!!!!!!!!! I have no bloody idea where DH has put the axle from the wheel!!! So I can't put it back on the pushchair!!!

Effie Ours is always the rear right tire too!!

Kayzr · 28/05/2009 13:11

I am going to die!! The P&T is buggered(excuse my french) and I had to go out and DS1 was asleep. So he went in the buggy and DS2 went in his sling and it was so bloody hot and he weighs a blooming ton!!!

Kayzr · 28/05/2009 15:12

DS2 is now 17lb 3oz and the HV says we have got to give him baby rice with mashed banana. She is also coming round next Tuesday to see us. I am now wishing I didn't bother asking about his weight.

notjustanumber · 28/05/2009 15:59

Kayzr Why is that ? DS2 was 16.11 a week ago and no-one said anything about solids to me. He occasionally has a few spoons in the evenings but some days nothing at all but BM. Make no difference to his temperament or sleeping patterns

I dont want to take out the sling/pushchair combo today for the same reason

Kayzr · 28/05/2009 16:03

She said it is because he is 6 months(he actually isn't but she ignored me) and he needs solids so he can continue to put weight on. He did eat all his baby rice and mashed banana though.

Verso · 28/05/2009 21:43

I have second interviews for TWO jobs next week! Obv doesn't mean I will actually get either of them, but is nice to be appreciated. One of them is next Thursday afternoon - my first day back at work. DH thinks I should be upfront and tell my boss why I need to leave early... Did I tell you DH got his part-time hours from September?

Can't believe I'm going back next week. Anyone else going back in the next month or so?

notjustanumber · 28/05/2009 21:44

Oh no, we've done it. Killed the thread

spotofcheerfulness · 28/05/2009 22:57

Congratulations, Verso, that's fantastic - and about your DH too. Good luck for your preparation.
I am lucky in that I'm able to do some evening work so am letting myself in gently but need to think about longer term. Am just terrified of childcare options and lack of anywhere available in my area (nurseries tend to have a 2 year wait list!). Will think about it another time.
[Grin} at your X post NJAN.

spotofcheerfulness · 28/05/2009 22:58

V poor use of brackets there .

Kayzr · 29/05/2009 07:07

Morning!

DS2 slept from half 8 until 6 this morning. It is the first time he has gone up to his cot before we go to bed.

Verso That is great news!! Must be nice to be appreciated. I'm not looking forward to going back to work in August. I don't mind the job but the hours are irregular. One week I can do 16 hours then the next I do 12 and it is just annoying.

Hope you are all well today. A nice sunny day here.

tillyfernackerpants · 29/05/2009 07:17

kayz if you don't mind me saying I think you should stay away from your HV. The stuff she's coming out with! It sounds like ds2 is doing fine. Fwiw, ds2 was around 17lb a couple of weeks ago & the HV told me not to worry about weaning until 6mo. She said that as they start moving more the weight will drop a little & that weaning doesn't make much difference either way.

Hope you got your pushchair fixed btw. I had to stop carrying ds2 cos he was too heavy as well!

verso congratulations on the interviews & dh's hours! I'm sure you'll do brilliantly.

spot how lucky you can work from home, do you mind me asking what it is you do?

Btw, anyone needing childcare this is a good website, it gives you all the nurseries/childminders etc for your area.

Quick question, those with more than 1 dc, are they sharing a room? We're toying with putting ds2 in ds1's room but I'm just a bit worried about them keeping each other awake or ds1 getting woken up. Any thoughts etc would be appreciated

Kayzr · 29/05/2009 07:19

Tilly I agree but I now have to wait until she has come round on Tuesday and then I might just stop having him weighed. I also might tell her that I am not giving him anything else until he is 6 months. Bloody woman!!

EffiePerine · 29/05/2009 07:37

Kayz, DS2 was 18lb when I got him weighed at 20 weeks (fatty) and no-one mentioned weaning. Some mums at toddler group have been asking if we've started solids (perhaps they suspect I'm weaning him on crisps and ice cream) but I am sunnily explaining I'm waiting until 6 months. I think we'll be doing a BLW type thing, at least lots of finger foods and the odd spoon of fruit puree and yoghurt.

Spot: will email re: next week

Well done on the 2nd interviews Verso! They wouldn't bother getting you back if they weren't serious.

Have just heard that my company is cutting back again on staff beenfits, this time the healthcare scheme is being cut back so I can't add the DSs. Hum. And our CEO has left. Time for a phone call to find out what's going on...

notjustanumber · 29/05/2009 07:55

Morning, Good luck Verso ! I'm back at work on the 1st July. I'm sad but I have to do it, at least for 6 months. I owe them a lot of money otherwise.

Kayzr What work do you do ? Sorry, I didnt have time to post yesterday, but with DS1 I weaned him early (at 4 months) and his weight went right down from 91st to 50th (4-6 mo) over that time and he got noticablely thinner. With DS2 he has had hardly any solids and his weight is staying up, so I think the "solids to keep their weight up" might be a load of old poo. But then DS1 is a very healthy weight and a good eater, so it actually probably matters nowt in the long run

Both boys were very similar sizes and birth weights BTW. But I suppose all babies are differnt and you should wean when you feel its right (and how much) rather than what HV says. I know others have said before, but I do wonder if you have a harder time because you are younger ? I'm quite an old fart and I wonder if this is why I get "advised" less. This is rubbish of course. Just because I'm older doesnt mean I know more about parenting. Before I had the kids I was having a good time not reading baby books

notjustanumber · 29/05/2009 07:56

BTW, I have thyroid problems again, anyone else with their hair falling out (scarily so for me), unexplained weight fluctuations, tiredness and anxiety, should get it checked out

Kayzr · 29/05/2009 08:00

I work in a supermarket. Probably the worlds most boring job!! I am on the deli counter and spend the majority of my time listening to old women moan the Morrisons is cheaper!!

I did work at morrisons before we moved and Martin Brundle used to come and do his shopping. We did used to get the odd heartbeat actor in here though.

Maybe I am destined to work on a deli for my whole life.

pmk1 · 29/05/2009 08:33

Morning Ladies! Very quiet on here the last couple of days! Thought I'd have heaps to catch up on but nup! Kayz brilliant on the sleeping and Verso too. Congrats on your interviews! Things have really turned around for you it seems - very glad about that. No work here yet. Can go back anytime before end of year however SMP stops after Sept, but not complaining as I also have leave accrued which can be paid out then to carry me over. Quite nice.
Aunt Flo came back yesterday too. About a month after stopping full BF-ing
Great night sleeping wise here - he slept unswaddled and on back all night! 1130-630am! I heard him mumble once but got himself back to sleep about a minute later! I think he is back to the good old sleeping through baby he once was! v v happy about that but won't count chickens too fast. he still eats solids once a day but is getting thast in addition to all other feeds. Doubt he is 17lbs though!
My Sainsbury's order came, and there were several substitutions which I wasn't thrilled about - and do they go out of their way to find the smallest cauliflowers they can when you ask for a "whole" one? However delivery was free and only had to hang around 45 mins for it. Still going to try ocado next time just to compare....
Very productive yesterday.... Cleared up the back garden, swept all the leaves etc up, dh cleaned BBQ in prep for summer Xmas tree was still out there so we chopped that up finally. Made a whole load of pureed food for B, labelled and froze it, and pulled apart vacuum cleaner, cleaned it and then cleaned flat!
Anyway NJAN - my hair is falling out a LOT!!???? Thought it was just the seasons... hope so? I also have lost weight more easily it seems since stopping BF??? But I have looked it up and apparently sometimes the body can hang onto the last few lbs until you stop BF just in case it's needed? Not sure, but in my case it seems true?
And Kayz, I agree with NJAN, I bet it's your age... old fart here too and don't seem to get told to do this and that and my ds weighs a lot less than yours it seems?
