Evening ladies
I got back from London late last night and I skived cricket today to take DD to a 3rd birthday party. Yikes...there was a cardboard castle in the back garden (child size) and some poor bugger was marauding around in a dragon suit (cue lots of traumatised tots, one of whom was screaming "Go away Bad'un!" as she couldn't say dragon) and lots of tiny thugs belting each other with toy swords...But my little cherub just liked watching the other children, and had a go in a swing, which she loved, and played with her first balloon (also a big success). I was glad to escape, though, to be honest. I gave DD a chunk of pineapple to eat (which she enjoyed) and I clearly overheard someone say "they should just be having milk at that age". She is ten days short of seven months, but I guess she looks a bit small for her age...
Hennyway, lovely to see some old faces - Oli, Pingu, Nolda! Pingu, these HVs make my hair curl with their manipulative, prescriptive tosh. Like smoking indeed...
Oli, I can report I got the other Twilight books (ta for all the offers of lendsies but I decided I couldn't wait ) and I am now thoroughly in touch with my inner 14 yr old, slightly shamefaced and thoroughly enjoying myself.
Arti, I didn't see D in the end as we were both busy, and now he has gone away for a couple of weeks. But may I recommend Enchanted April for your list? It's very Merchant Ivory (but not them) - about four women who rent a beautiful house for the summer in Italy in the 1930s and how it works its magic on them. So charming.
PMK - I am a supermarket tart. We use Sainsbo's home delivery, but not always. and shop at either Tesco's, Sainsburys or less often now, Waitrose. There are lots of Co-ops in Oxfordshire so we sometimes go there too. Oh, and Asda if I am in the Midlands as I think it is v good value. If we do a home delivery we spend about £120, which I can make last almost a fortnight with top ups of fruit and veg and bread (and cheerfulness). But if we go to the supermarket it comes to an obscene amount, as DP is out of control.
JJ - THANK you for the post and you will be getting a little something in the post yourself as a token of my gratitude.
Bisou - lovely to see a bit more of you! Yay.
Kayz - cute piccies!
Welcome back dear Syb.
ZJ and Trace - my obs said Beconase (sp?) is ok for use in pregnancy etc.
Oh, forgot to say - DD has a little tooth! It turned up on Tuesday. And she can now roll from front to back (but not, seemingly, the other way round). And she is her mother's daughter as she tried to dive into a glass of champagne on Friday night...it was a very nice evening and we had just had supper out near where I live, as DP has worked very hard this week. We strolled past a hotel and as DD was asleep we had an cheeky spot. I popped to the loo and when I returned DD was suddenly on DP's lap (he said she had woken up but I am suspicious) and I saw her try to grap his champagne flute, first with one and then with two hands! Then she opened her mouth wide and tried to put it on the rim of the glass When we had stopped laughing I filmed it on the phone and she repeated it all - I will post it on Facebook if I can work out how...
It was such fun being in my flat in London...but I didn't get a lot of work done so it's as well that I am back. Night girls, sleepy dust from the wilds of Oxfordshire blowing your way.
