oh, forgot our more recent nickname for LO - Narcissus. He can't pass a mirror without beaming at himself and giving himself soggy snogs.

FfreckleFface · 28/03/2009 16:08

Hope Pascal had a lovely birthday yesterday, Turtle.

Nicknames...
Noonoo is the main one (short for Bloke's original nickname for her of Ffioninoninoonoo, which needed to be shortened for obvious reasons) but she also gets Noonoo Bear, Monkey, Trumpytrousers and Pudding. When she was very small we used to call her Moonpig, but that didn't last for long.

Got her weighed for the first time in ages on Thursday, and she is 18lb 9, which means that not only is she on the chart, she is above the red strip, and on the 9th centile. If I hadn't gone way past caring, I suppose I would have been very excited!

Am stunned by the way she is turning into a proper little girl, and isn't a baby anymore. On Thursday at toddler group she was the youngest by far, but sat on a proper little chair at the table with the other children, eating her toast. It's exciting, but it makes me sad that Bloke is missing the transition.

Have a lovely weekend.

Absolutely shattered! DS' party today (birthday on Tues). Just gps, uncles, aunts, cousins, but even so that was 10 adults and 4 children. Glad weather held off. DS was brilliant despite all the people and not sleeping after 11.30am. Really glad that tomorrow is not a work day (don't envy DH) and taht have Tues off for his birthday. Spent all yesterday cooking and all today serving. Will be pigging out on left over roast beef and cake tomorrow

monthlymayhem · 29/03/2009 23:08

It's toots, tootsie, or tootsie-pie here!

pantshavenames · 30/03/2009 10:50

Hi all, Hope you are well and everyone coped with the clock change.
Feeling very tired today, had hectic last week culminating in DD's birthday party which was lovely but exhausting. MIL managed to set my teeth on edge by constantly comparing DD to her 8 month old puppy- ie 'ooh look DD likes putting things in her mouth just like Megan. They must be at the same stage of development' Grrrr. TBH I have issues with that dog anyway. Last week when we were stopping at her house the dog kept on trying to bite DS's feet and she kept on telling him it was his fault for not standing still! And then by the time the 2 of them have reduced him to tears she picks up the dog and says 'oh poor Megan, I guess we'll have to put you in your cage. Ooooh she looks soooo sad'

Nicknames- not particularly original- sugarplum, sugar, stinker, evester and at the moment Seb Coe cos all she does is laps of the house.

timmyinatizzy · 31/03/2009 13:07

Wading in with my congrats to Turtle.

On the nickname front DS gets called, Pookie, Pookster, Pookmeister and Lucas Poocas on the odd ocassion.

I love the Seb Coe nickname

Ewe you share a birthday with my DH. He's a bit older than you though!!

HolidaysQueen · 31/03/2009 22:58

Lovely day for DS's birthday - visit to the farm where he petted rabbits and piglets and lambs, laughed at mad sheep and tried to eat droppings (think he thought they were raisins ). Then he wolfed down a whole baby pizza in Pizza Express with me and daddy in attendance, and decided wafer far more delicious than ice cream. Then to park in new trike (favourite thing ever), waving to buses and trees and even to baby friends Petted dog after nice man saw DS flapping arms madly in its direction, said "cat" to neighbour's cat for second day in a row, and then ate all his tea. Lovely boy, lovely day Don't want to go to work tomorrow

Happy birthday to Littleducks's DS for tomorrow - think we all then have 1 year olds

pantshavenames · 01/04/2009 13:35

Sounds lovely HQ- makes me feel bad that DD spent much of her birthday having her jabs and going to Waitrose to get food for the party.Didn't even get to have lunch out as DS wasn't well.
Feeling very WOOHOO as found out today that DS has got into the primary school we wanted to get him into. As we moved from an area of failing schools to do it I'm glad it wasn't a waste of time. He had his parents evening yesterday and when I said we were going to see how good he was he said 'you don't need to go to nursery for that, I can tell you how good I am.I'm as good as I can be!'.Sent shivers down my spine I can tell you.

sausagetits · 02/04/2009 22:20

Hello all, sorry for being MIA. Happy Birthday to all mums and babies.

Congrats turtle. I'm very happy you achieved your goal!

Reading all your nicknames made me feel slightly lacking as a parent. Your babies have such lovely, caring, cute nicknames. Poor Charlie has Cuddlesticks (DD's enduring in utero nickname) Fat Chops and Mr Mainwaring. As in "Don't panic Mr Mainwaring".(I'm a closet fan of Dad's Army) The last one is used when emotions are running high .

Anyway will try and get back on here tomorrow.

And thanks for to those who posted on t'other thread. You know who you are

ilovegreenbeans · 04/04/2009 14:08

Oh yum yum yum! Made my first ever slow-cooked meal last night (THANK YOU Ff!) and it was delicious! DD gobbled it out of her bowl, chicken, beans, carrots, shallots and all.

Hope everyone's enjoying a sunny saturday.

Dontpanic · 05/04/2009 11:17

all i have to say at the moment is "teething molars"

FfreckleFface · 05/04/2009 15:47

Glad you enjoyed it, ilgb.

Dontpanic - I'm going to my parents for Easter. You're probably busy, but will be in Cardiff on Friday, if you fancied getting a coffee and letting the babies meet each other and do a bit of prodding and giggling? Hope E's teeth aren't too sore.

Ff has become very cuddly all of a sudden. It's fine when she is throwing herself at me and other grown ups, but she does the same to babies too, and it comes across more like wrestling than affection. For the first time I am glad she is still tiny...I can just imagine the carnage she would be causing if she was more of a bruiser!

Hope everyone's weekend is going well.

Dontpanic · 05/04/2009 16:13

Ooh, that would be nice FFff, have loads of things to do but an excuse to go out is always good

Must say, baby swimming is such good fun, LO's eyes just light up when he gets in the water and he cackles for most of the lesson...apart from the bits where he doesn't hold on and gets an accidental dunking
We've "discovered" grass properly now, he used to sit trapped on a rug in the garden before, but has now been adventurous enough to go exploring across it at speed. At such speed he nearly managed to get in a scene they were filming for Doctor Who on Friday

PurlyQueen · 05/04/2009 16:18

[waves]. I'm still here!

Congratulations to turtle - I'm v jealous. I'd love another one, but sleep is my mail bedroom activity at the moment!
Has anyone else's LOs started grinding their teeth. Matthew does it and it's very disconcerting. I try to ignore it in the hope that it will go away...

merryberry · 05/04/2009 21:43

sits on fingers at mail bedroom activity typo>does not post about putting things in slots>does not post about mail deliveries>leaves thread quietly

FfreckleFface · 05/04/2009 22:26

Very restrained, Merryberry, well done.

Dontpanic - fab! I'm driving down on Thursday evening, so will probably be able to wrench Ff from Nanny's vice-like grip to get into town for about 11. Is that ok for you, or is the afternoon better? Am very excited about being in Cardiff - Oxford is lovely, but it isn't home.

timmyinatizzy · 06/04/2009 09:43

DP Molars already . DS only got his 4th tooth on Saturday and that was a front top right.

JFly · 06/04/2009 13:10

Molars?? Oh god. We've had at least a whole week off from teething and now I think it's starting again. I thought it might be canines, but god help me if it's molars.

Meant to say hi to LD! Good to see you back.

I had a little giggle about PQ's mistype. Brilliant!

As for nicknames, we're not very imaginative. Monkey, Baby boy (original, eh?), sweet pea, Mr G, G man, Grifter, the Griffinator, Griffinsaurus Rex.

Gotta say the sunshine has done wonders for my mood. But what's with the clouds today?

PurlyQueen · 06/04/2009 19:25
Blush
Dontpanic · 06/04/2009 22:24

hello PQ!

Ffff, have messaged you on fb re Fri, look forward to it!

turtle23 · 07/04/2009 07:58

Am feeling very happy this morning as am defo going on holiday. Booking a Mark Warner hol in Egypt so we have guaranteed sun AND guaranteed no Pascal for three hours every morning. Any more than that and I would cry, but am looking forward to napping on the beach for a couple of hours in peace.
Am not even going to comment on the molars thing other than to say this is why I need a holiday.
(btw have scan dates etc through and is all feeling a bit more real...)

turtle Am so excited for you. This means we can all enjoy being pregnant again, without the stretch marks, heartburn, carpal tunnel, embarrassing wind etc etc.

Dontpanic · 07/04/2009 20:24

absolutely Turtle! Have a great holiday, get some sleep in while you can etc etc (didn't we all say this 13 months ago?)...pondering logistics of hypnobirthing you darn sarf...
