ilovegreenbeans · 20/03/2009 15:18

nope, not me. But I never did really.

pantshavenames · 20/03/2009 15:49

OOhh so excited- just booked big french house for 2 weeks in May. Last proper holiday was 2 years ago so it'll be good. Just got to get DD's passport application in.

Babygros: never really did'em for DD. Even did proper pyjamas.

HolidaysQueen · 20/03/2009 16:05

oooh, pantshavenames - where? we are thinking of france too.

nappyaddict - huge fan of babygros here and used them more than outfits until very recently. fab over winter as DS is a terror with socks (off his feet and in his mouth within 3 seconds), and he looked really like a baby in them which DH and I liked! less soul destroying changing babygro after messy dinner than beautiful little outfit too. always wore them in house, and very often when going out to park etc. only really wore 'outfits' when at proper social events rather than regular things. but in the last month he has barely worn them - started crawling, worked out better strategy for dealing with mealtime mess, and not so worried about cold feet now it is more spring like. so somehow he has ended up in tops and trousers more than babygros.

FfreckleFface · 20/03/2009 16:10

Congratulations, Turtle.

MB, hope all goes well with the mother's help. You are definitely justified in getting one.

Put Ff's swing up yesterday, and she loves it. So far the dogs are proving resistant to my trying to train them to push it with their noses, but I have positioned it close enough to the patio that I should be able to tie some string to the seat and rock her and drink wine at the same time.

Bloke all settled in his tent. Ff has been fine so far, but she does spend a lot of time peering around corners as though expecting to see him. Even with this fantastic weather, July seems an awfully long time away. But we're managing.

Have a good weekend, everyone. Fingers crossed for a Wales win.

HolidaysQueen · 20/03/2009 16:22

Sorry FfFf, but I'm expecting a late St Patricks Day present!

Glad you and Ff are doing okay.

pantshavenames · 20/03/2009 16:45

HQ going here www.cottages4you.co.uk/sites/cottages4you/pages/PropertyDetails_C.aspx?QS=3E0F3DCD-882D-4738-9E61-B9 0EA3C005F2~C~W11988~WEL~64~GBP~3~14~05-23-2009~A~N~1~A2EBC7FC-4DF2-C67C-42E7-B45AE007E6F0~11793~0~1~ N~N~N~N~N
Wanted to go to the Loire really but DH couldn't face all the driving, this is only 1.5 hrs from Calais and ridiculously cheap!

pantshavenames · 20/03/2009 16:47

Sorry, the link doesn't work- it's near Fecamp on the Normandy coast. Shortcuts are the devils' work.

ilovegreenbeans · 20/03/2009 16:47

Ff, I'm glad you and F are doing ok. I think you're really brave!

DD CRAWLED! She got on all fours last night (like always) and then moved her legs too and went about 6 inches forward. The end is nigh...

merryberry · 20/03/2009 19:11

no babygrows for ages, couldn't do with the poppers and my lack of fine finger movement. also like to be able to change dirty half and leave clean half unchanged

i hope the time flies for you Ff.

Mother's help came today, has all the hallmarks of treasure-in-the-making and i've got to the end of day without feeling numbed with fatigue, just a good healthy tired. hard to explain the difference, but it feels a lot!

JFly · 20/03/2009 23:58

Just a few more minutes to say Happy Birthday to Mr G! Had a great time at the zoo today, followed by cake with cousins.

Has anyone else found this whole birthday thing emotional?? I was so teary this morning thinking about this time last year and how amazing it is that he's here and in our life.

Turtle, you little minx! So pleased for you and hope all goes smoothly.

Hope the sunshine continues for the remaining March babies!

JFly · 21/03/2009 00:02

Also to say, MB, no shame in getting yourself some much needed and deserved help. I hope she can take some of the burden off you so you have more energy for yourself and your kids.

And FfFf, I hope Ff keeps you so busy that July is here in no time.

turtle23 · 21/03/2009 05:49

MB-Hope things are easing for you and that you ENJOY having a Mother's Help. You definitely deserve it.
Thank all for the congrats!!

just been whiling away an hour or so reading through the Mar 08 thread and a couple of birth stories, had forgotten quite how big GG was MB! Hope homehelp thing works out well, to paraphrase one of the readings from our naming ceremony, babies won't keep so spend as much time with them as you can and sod the cleaning (or get someone else to do it for you) - besides, am sure you get more endorphins from being with the boys than trying to iron etc, so that's got to be better for the aching joints.

Can't see quickly who was asking about babygros, we stopped using when LO started crawling as they're too slippy on wooden floor. Same goes for anything with built in sockfeet jobbies now he's trying to walk, far too slippy.
ILGB yay for crawling, get yourself prepared for the sudden speed when LO gets the hang of it...

FfFf hope you're so busy July arrives in next to no time...

Am off to bed now to dream of a lie in and facon butties in the morning....happy mothering sunday to all

pantshavenames · 22/03/2009 08:46

Happy Mothering Sunday everyone.
Just surfaced after a lovely lie-in and breakfast in bed. DH was feeling guilty because he 'forgot to pick me anything up when he was in Tesco's'.

I didn't know Tesco's did a good line in solitaire diamonds.

merryberry · 22/03/2009 10:07

happy mother's day everyone. got a lovely card, well two lovely cards, but the prettiest one is a mary cassatt pic of a goodnight hug (french impressionist). will get it framed, like it so much. can't find it online to show you.

homehelp very helpful so far, proper work alongside goes the extra mile on stuff. has 2 kids herself, nannied for 7 years and has an nvq 3 childcare! just wants odd hours while her youngest is toddling. magic.

yup, gg was BIG. kind of a trump card for astonishing people (especially the size + born on kitchen floor...) but re: the RA seems to make people think i can cope with anything if i can do that. but believe me a few hours concentration on a single thing like giving birth is easy compared to trying to live with chronic pain and drug side effects...grrrrrrrrrrrrrr...oh well one day i will get to try the anti-tnf's, long as NHS doesn't bankrupt out ;) anyhooo, the pain levels are variable and today is a good day. am going to get a pair of trousers from monsoon later, amd down to only 3 pairs of kecks to work in and that's not enough given the thrashing they take with childcare going on.

what's everyone else up to?

Ewe · 22/03/2009 11:03

Hope you all have a nice Mother's Day! I had a lie in and breakfast and DD made me a great card at nursery, lots of glitter, feathers and handprints plus a little clay 'T' that she painted red, lovely

Good to hear the help is, err, helping MB! Sounds like you thoroughly deserve it to me.

Wondering if anyone has/is planning on getting reins? DD loves running around when we are out and about but is a terror for just running off in whatever direction she likes. I was never terribly keen on the idea but not sure she is giving us much of a choice!

We're getting DD goldfish this weekend as part of her birthday present as she goes nuts for goldfish - she is really excited by the tank even without any fish in might not bother getting any!

Have a relaxing day ladies, we deserve it.

MarchNowFebMum · 22/03/2009 19:01

Hello all - flying visit to say happy mothers day to everyone. Bloke has forgotten and I know it's a made up holiday but I was hurt cross. Ho hum.

Sorry I have again been MIA but we've had the most hideous eye/ear infection that went baby-me-nanny and back again. Seems to be mostly sorted now but yuck!

Happy Birthday to all the March days I've missed - sounds like everyone had wonderful celebrations. I find it weird to now express her age in YEARS rather than months.

PS and who is sausage tits????

HolidaysQueen · 22/03/2009 19:47

sausage tits is our formerly glam mummy

Lovely mother's day here. DH and I actually spent last night away at a fabulous hotel to celebrate our anniversary (couldn't do too much last year as I was so huge and uncomfortable, and ended up spending the night in hospital with high bp!) First night away from DS, but it all went well - he was very happy with gps and I wasn't too stressed out. Spent today swimming loads of lengths in open air pool and sunbathing. Just in cossie. In March. In the UK. Wonderful!

We then came home and had a lovely tea with DS, who gave me daffodils (my absolute favourite flower) and some Lindt Lindor (chocolate heaven!) and a lovely homemade card.

Anyway, he didn't seem to want his breastfeed, so looks like Friday night was our last feed. I cried a bit then as it was a lovely feed and I thought it might be the last one, so I'm glad it ended with that one. Nervous of the hormone crash that has been coming since I dropped to one feed, but it's time to move on and have my body back to myself! Thanks for all your support along the way - never found it easy, but got there in the end thanks in large part to the people on here

MarchNowFebMum · 22/03/2009 20:19

I knew it! Had to be you SN :.)

There is also a vinegar tits somewhere on MN.

Turtle, I hope you don't cheat on us with the Nov 09 thread!!

turtle23 · 23/03/2009 06:07

MNFM-I have to admit, I did post there a few times! It just feels wrong, though, so I hope you all don't mind but would rather stay put!!!(Besides...I remember thinking how big our thread was at the beginning and found it really sad as people began to fall away from MCs. May go back again in a couple of months)
Mother's Day-apparently DH and DS made a card but lost it...and I was told I would probably find it when I clean the house!

Traitor :.) Just kidding, of course you should, just don't leave us entirely.

ilovegreenbeans · 24/03/2009 10:06

Thought of you girls this morning as dd crawled into the bathroom as I was in the shower and made a beeline for the toilet!

(Thanks mnfm, I missed who ST was too)

Turtle, just don't leave us, but they might appreciate a pg guru on the new thread every once in a while

merryberry · 24/03/2009 21:19

My mate's husband delivered their ds2 at home on saturday. midwife late

Dontpanic · 24/03/2009 21:53

Ooh, my thread's gone all funny, squished all the posts on the right hand side under the irritating ad

Ewe · 24/03/2009 21:59

Mine too dp!

It's my birthday tomorrow, am excited

Need to find some 80s inspired fancy dress for my party on Friday, trawling charidee shops tomorrow I think.
