spotofcheerfulness · 16/03/2009 19:29

Can you guess who it is yet? .

Kayz I managed to reclaim about £3000 from various banks a couple of years ago. Have a look at the Money Saving Expert website, it has template letters for writing to the bank, and also a step by step guide of what to do. Good luck.

EffiePerine · 16/03/2009 19:59

Moriarty?

spotofcheerfulness · 16/03/2009 20:07

Tis I

daisydora · 16/03/2009 20:12

SybilFaulty · 16/03/2009 20:27

KMP, is that you?

spotofcheerfulness · 16/03/2009 20:28

Not her, but one who has been inspired by the good lady...

spotofcheerfulness · 16/03/2009 20:29

No! Miaow

Verso · 16/03/2009 20:30

..

LadyThompson · 16/03/2009 20:31

Is that...SuperSpot?

Been very busy last few days (when I am otherwise) but just wanted to check in. Syb, I am so sad for your friend. Is she taking him back? Crossing everything for your DD's results tomorrow...

ZJ, it is weird about people having mutual friends. Apart from Arti, just a quick scan of WG's friends makes me realise I know quite few of them. But I think she knew that anyway. Your tomboy tools party sounded ace! I could do with something like that.

JJ, it really is super about your friend's LO.

I have been having a meltdown about my weight. Again. I am eating so much less and nothing is really happening. Have stepped up exercise but I think my body defies the laws of physics. I should offer it up to medical science.

Indith, am impressed with you having the time to do Rainbows. I was a very enthusiastic Guide, many years ago! I loved it. If I had time I would like to get into all that again, as I actually really like kids and working with teenagers in particular would be rewarding. One day maybe. Funnily enough I couldn't get to sleep last night and was trying to remember all the badges I had. It was a good way to drift off. If they'd had a badge for flirting with the Scouts, though, I'd've been a hot contender. Mind you, it's all newfangled nowadays, isn't it? Girls can actually join the Scouts if they want. And the uniforms are all designed by Versace or summat.

Arti, any survery news? Ours will be this week. I am fed up of people telling me we shouldn't buy the house as it hasn't got a garden. The fact is, I couldn't afford a house with three bedrooms and a garden in our chosen place, as it's very expensive. As there is a park two mins away, and it's basically in the country anyway, AND we are only going to stay there three years as we do it up.

Right, off to cook cabbage. It's wall to wall glamour here, I can tell you.

Turniphead1 · 16/03/2009 20:32

I vote KMP! (Surely an Aussie reference to Rolf Harris!)

Verso · 16/03/2009 20:33

All go here as DH has decided to give up work... we're trying to sort out practicalities (ie whether we will need to move house etc).

Thank God for antidepressants, is all I'm saying. It hasn't sunk in yet.

Verso · 16/03/2009 20:34

My little ASCII cat face didn't work >pout

artichokes · 16/03/2009 20:42

Lol, it is going to be quite confusing and amusing with lots of name changers, I am crap at solving mysteries but I think even I know after hearing that "Miaow".

Zoe - I reeaalllllyyy want to go to the Ice Hotel. I have been telling DH what you said about the tacky quotiant but its going to be years before our kids are old enough. God I miss the freedom to travel. I think it is the only thing I really miss about my old life. I am afraid I have no advice about the bottle as neither of my babies have ever accepted one. Maybe start a thread in the breast/bottle feeding topic?

JJ - what lovely news about baby M. Sorry baby JJ is in a strop, as Effie said they get moody when they make developmental leaps.

Last night was a little better for us. DD2 fed at 11.30 and 4.30 and the slept in 'til 6.40am (late for her!). She did wake a 1.30am but went back to sleep without milk (a miracle). Unfortunatley DD1 woke at 6.10am. DH went in and told her it was too early and she was quiet for 20 mins and then started bellowing "Daddy its not early anymore, its sunny and your being lazy". Its the only downside to summer, damn that early rising sun.

LadyThompson · 16/03/2009 20:55

Oh, and Syb, I can't come on Wed. Ordinarily I would be there, but this week is difficult as I am already in London on Thursday and Friday so can't do Wednesday as well. I am going to have my leg veins/valves scorched lasered out. It sounds agonising. My legs will be in bandages for a week. And then I will probably need follow up work. But if I ever want to wear shorts again...(mind you, there's the small matter of that three stones as well).

Verso, wow, that's quite a big decision. Is that good news? Hope so.

JollyBear · 16/03/2009 21:03

verso Do I take it that you are not altogether pleased that your DH has given up his job? I hope the decision is the right one for both of you

JJ I'm so pleased that baby M is home in record time.

ladyT You must have been a very committed guide . I was in the Brownies (a sixer of the Elves in the end no less ) but I only ever managed two badges. Animal lovers and the hostess badge!

trace Poor Lucy. It must be awful having bad asthma. Hope she feels better soon.

I was bathing DD earlier and found what looks like a patch of eczema on her chest. Is emmolient cream the best thing to put on it? I'm a bit worried about it with me having allergies and DH having eczema. Someone tell me the poor girl isn't doomed to a life of scabby skin!

kayzr · 16/03/2009 21:04

Evening.

Jump, that is fabulous news about M. The bottles arrived today so thank you very much.

Just a quick post from me as I am shattered after gardening all day again.

I booked DS2's christening today. 5th July so plently of time for me to practice making his cake.

I hope you are all well and I hope you all get plenty of sleep.

jumpjockey · 16/03/2009 21:13

Hmmm... it seemed that dd's stroppiness had a much more simple cause. One massive poo later she was back to sweetness and light!

Hello spot! You'll cheer us all up every time you post, great name Can I make an awful confession? I can't work out who SybilFaulty used to be. The person I thought it was is around under their normal name. Can anyone give me a clue?

arti - summer?! dd1's a bit keen... glad your night was a bit better, onwards and upwards.

kayz glad the bottles arrived

jolly 2 badges is good, i only managed the venture badge but then was only in the brownies for a year and never joined the guides [shame]

verso hope everything goes ok re your dh's decision. Is he looking for something different to his current work, or stopping altogether to help with childcare?

waitinggirl · 16/03/2009 21:24

am i the only one to think: kayz - GARDENING??? - i would LOVE to do some gardening, but not a hope in hell i could keep dd quiet for long enough. so so so jealous!

jj - great news

ladyt - yup, just trawled through your friends list - similar circles, although mostly through dh's job.

verso - hope that is a step in the right direction? or????

kmp1 · 16/03/2009 21:25

nah that's Supercat! I still haven't changed my name --- but I will think of one now....

EffiePerine · 16/03/2009 21:26

Verso: is this a joint decision or has your DH just decided for himself? Hope you can get the practicalities sorted - actually, sod that, hope HE can sort it out if that's what he wants

I must confess that I was both a Brownie and a Guide and managed all of 1 badge as a Brownie and, er, none as a Guide . Zero. No idea why I kept going along every week.

LadyT: weight loss stalled here as well. Grrr. Not much exercise tho and prob too much regular cheerfulness. And sausages.

kayzr · 16/03/2009 21:35

WG DS2 has been in the garden with us for most of the day in his pushchair. Sleeping for a bit, but mainly gurgling to himelf. DS1 did try to water him though with the watering can.

I was a guide and I loved it. I had about 20 badges. My favourite one was the childcare one. My friend and I looked after our leader's twin neices. They were 18 months old and absolutely gorgeous. I really hope the boys want to be cubs and scouts.
