No badges? How remiss of you! Talk about a misspent youth

spotofcheerfulness · 16/03/2009 21:50

I was in the brownies but left in shame after my sister who was planning on joining refused to serve the queen and got kicked out before she even started . In retrospect I think that showed a lot of integrity!
Had smoked mackerel for dinner, not what you want repeating on you all night . Sorry, tmi.
T looks like he could join the scouts already he's got such a winning smile. He spent ages today sitting in my lap looking me in the eye and chuntering in such a convincing way I almost forgot I couldn't understand him! He's such a lil cutie. Am properly in love with him now.
Wish I had a garden, we have a balcony where pigeons come and poo .

Verso · 16/03/2009 21:54

He just decided for himself because his work is going really badly.

JamInMyWellies · 16/03/2009 21:57

No brownies in the jam household we were Girls Brigade.

Loving the new name.

Kayz have you thought about talking to a debt management company.

Am a bit at hearing about one of our babies rolling over they are getting so grown up

Jump great news about your friends LO.

Had a lovely day weather has been gorgeous we had a friend over this morning was nice to chat rubbish with another adult for a few hours. DP has gone to see the mighty hammers play tonight he has just texted me to say he forgot his keys so will have to wake me up at around midnight to let him in grrr.

Sleeping really has gone to pot here. After being a fab sleeper waking once a night he has gone backwards and is now waking up to 3 times between midnight and 5. I did think it was a growth spurt but its being going on a bit too long now. Typical as he is now in his own room not quite as comfy lying in bed feeding now am having to sit on a beanbag in L's bedroom tis a bit chilly. Think I might ask for some slippers for Mothers Day.

Right back to the ironing.

kayzr · 16/03/2009 22:03

We talked to one last year Jam. They told us about a managed loan that the bank can do. Which we did and it has been brilliant. We haven't had a bank charge since about October last year. I just hope we'll get the charges back. It would be nice to put it in a savings account to put towards a car or a holiday.

spotofcheerfulness · 16/03/2009 22:11

How do you feel about this decision, Verso? Is it definite?

VitisVinifera · 16/03/2009 22:36

Hello!

VitisVinifera · 16/03/2009 22:49

or should I say "G'day" (call me VV)

well, lovely weather....
i am trying to get B down at night a bit earlier without him waking in the night, and it went a bit tits skyward last night - down at 9pm no issues, but awake at 0430 or was it 0400 not sure, but stuck dummy in and bad mummy refused to feed and then slept and woke again at 0600. Tonight he wasn't having any of it going to bed so early.... DH managed to get him to sleep by 930pm, so fingers crossed he sleeps through as he's not getting much in the day - similar story as someone I read????? but sleeps maybe for a couple of 40 min stints in the morning after feeds, but forget it for the afternoon - he wants to party, but is quite happy to fall asleep on the boob however before he gets a proper feed in!!
gave him some banana custard tonight (from the jar) he was smiling as he kind of had a couple of spoonfuls! Just an experiment really!
Veggie your DS1 is hilarious! Love all his comments!
JJ so glad about your friends LO
Spot I am of your new name - LOVE it!!
Kayz we got £2600 back quite awhile ago now - i think we just got in before they put all those reimbursments on hold thankfully, but I heard from that Money saving Expert website, that there is good news regarding future reimbursments...
Verso good news I hope?
Rosmerta - if you're ever off to Richmond park let me know as I'm often up there with the crazy canine, and my DH is one of the mad cyclists that do the laps and time themselves!

Veggiemummy · 16/03/2009 23:07

squinting< is that you KMP?

Oh so much to remember from lurking, I have only one badge for my short time in Guides, blue wren group, collectors badge. Oh but I did love Jamboree, one of the scouts let me wear his hat.

I really want to go to the arctic circle I have a dream to see the Northern lights, one of my top 5 still to do list.

Oh where you going in Italy WG it's my fav country, we love it so much we got married there. We also found those cots a bit hard for both boys so def need something to soften it.

Kayz we are going to a garden center on weds to sort out stuff to put in our garden ds1 and I want to start some bean Teepees and ds wants to grow green space rockets, I don't think he'll eat them but he is intrigued by a food thats called Rocket. What are you and ds1 growing Kayz?

LadyThompson · 16/03/2009 23:14

Jump, dear Sybil was ChutneyMary. It took me a long time to get used to her as that but I do think of her as Sybil now. I will still think of Spot and VV as their previous incarnations for a while I am sure...heaven knows I ought to change my name but I can't seem to find the heart. I couldn't think of myself as anything else now, plus it's what my cricket team call me and so I have a fondness for it. Will ponder it. I certainly wouldn't want anyone from RL reading my contributions, that's for sure.

VV, I gave DD a lick of my pear today. She cried when I took it away. Poor child, formula is so boring.

Verso, maybe it will work out for the best? He might be happier, be able to do more at home?

Veggiemummy · 16/03/2009 23:18

Oh I used to love laps around Richmond park. It felt a little bit like being in the country, except we had to cycle there from Wapping so that bit was def not like being in the country.

I'm watching michael mcintyre on live at the Apollo, he really makes me giggle.

Veggiemummy · 16/03/2009 23:27

Ds1 and I made pane au chocolate the other day (those sara lee practically all ready made just pop chocolate in roll up & bake) and I bite in and then waved it close to ds2s face (not the chocolate bit) and he stuck his tongue out and licked it.

I'm thinking of changing my name too but no ideas so far. Don't change yours Lady? I like your name.

Verso · 17/03/2009 05:26

1.30am DD2 feed
2am asleep
2:30am DD1 "too hot"
2:45am asleep
3:30am DD2 feed
4am asleep
5am DD2 feed
5:15am DD1 "needs a wee", change pyjamas and pants
5:20am DD2 still not properly asleep

You reckon DH will do more in the home? He said last night when he gives up work he "won't be able to do the cleaning - like mopping floors etc" - also doesn't do gardening, or DIY, or sewing/mending or ironing. He "might" be able to do online ordering of groceries at a pinch, but as he doesn't know how to cook (apart from spaghetti bolognese) this might be expensive.

What can I say? You're all so sweet to look on the bright side of developments but I'm afraid from where I'm looking it's pretty bleak.

DD2 calling out again... best go

kmp1 · 17/03/2009 06:34

couldn't get use to that either... may just change it slightly so easier to relate to... stay tuned...

daisydora · 17/03/2009 07:10

My head is spinning from the name changes!!

Kayz you have inspired me, am going to do some gardening today if it stays as nice as yesterday

kayzr · 17/03/2009 07:14

Morning,

Verso That is a hard night, I really feel for you. I really wish I could do something to help. Sounds like having DH at home might be more of a hindrance then a help.

Veggie We are growing carrots, onions, potatoes, runner beans, strawberries and DS1 has just planted an apple seed. Not sure where the tree will go but I suppose it is a long way off being a big tree.

rosmerta · 17/03/2009 07:26

verso has he forgotten there's two of you to make this decision?!

VV I was wondering who you were until your comment about Richmond Park! Yep, will definitely let you know when we're going.

I was in brownies, guides & venture scouts! Got loads of badges as a brownie, not as many as a guide and none as a venture scout! Oh & jolly I was sixer of the leprauchauns, boooo to the elves

We're doing some gardening today as well. Have some sunflowers, salad & strawberries to plant, as well as tidying up the rest of it. Veggie ds1 wants to do a bean tepee as well, he said it will be his & ds2's den where they can do rascally things!

daisydora · 17/03/2009 07:37

I was a sixer of Kelpies! OMG how that takes me back. I had lots of brownie badges but got fed up after a while at guides. My Nan used to run a sheltered accomadation and I got a badge for helping to make tea and cakes for all the elderly folk! They thought I was a lovely child, and my nan made me do my Prince Charles impersonation for them How totally embarassing

Verso · 17/03/2009 07:38

This morning I can see how it could end up being better for us as a family, though I can't make the figures work just yet... I'm also worried that DH has underestimated quite how tiring looking after small children is. He seems to think it will be easier than going out to work .

Just very sad that it's got to this point really. Am very tired too, which doesn't help. Will probably up my AD dose - GP said I could if need be.

Verso · 17/03/2009 07:40

(PS I was a sixer in the Imps - loved Brownies! Got LOADS of badges. Went up to Guides but they were real "tweenagers" - although they weren't called that then - so I didn't stick it out.)

EffiePerine · 17/03/2009 07:45

Verso: I may be well out of line here so feel free to tut and ignore, but it sounds like having got your DH to help with DD2 he's reasserting his 'right' to be looked after... surely he can see that if you are the sole breadwinner he may need to do as much as he can (if he is physically able of course) at home? He could learn to cook for a start. Obv I don't know him or the medical situation so could be wildly wrong. I hope you can work things out, but as in any relationship you BOTH need to be flexible and understanding.

I wish we had a garden! But then gardening would cut into our playing football in the park time

EffiePerine · 17/03/2009 07:47

x-posts - you may need to tut and ignore that one! I was an Imp too, but never made the dizzy heights of a Sixer...

Verso · 17/03/2009 07:57

Am not tutting at all - am nodding sagely at your perspicacity.

Exactly the same thing had occurred to me too - but I can't make him do more. Yes, he has MS and it is unpleasant and tiring for him - but his own mother thinks he should be fighting against it and not giving in like this. She suggested a while back that he go and visit an old family friend who has MS and managed to make it to Headmistress in spite of it - but he's not interested.

I am tired of fighting too .

spotofcheerfulness · 17/03/2009 08:01

Verso, has your DH never heard of cookery books? I can't cook without a recipe, but there are some v straighforward ones- Nigel Slater's Real Fast Food and Nigella Express are both good for the more culinarily challenged.
Sorry you had such a rubbish night, is there anyone who could come over and mind the littlies for an hour for you to get some kip? Hope upping the AD dose works.
Daisy, if we all club together would you be persuaded to recreate your Prince Charles impression? Would love to see it .
Once more, when DP offers to do the overnight shift, T sleeps through. EVERY time I do it he wakes up. Sixth bloody sense .

spotofcheerfulness · 17/03/2009 08:02

How was your night, Effie?
