Beantin I had to have a little grin at you FIL and his camera evertime you got ds to sleep, my dad does stupid stuff like that. Sometimes I've really wanted to punch him! Luckily me and my dad have a very good relationship so I am able to just tell him to f* off whenever he gets a bit out of hand! My mum is completely opposite and won't even pick them up without asking and she never comments on my decisions (unlike father), she keeps saying she doesn't want me to think she's taking over or intereferring, I tell her I'd soon let her know......
Hope your ds gets better soon, is very hard when they are a bit on the poorly side.
Calico So pleased Lilian is ok.
Ds1 was quite hairy when he was born, arms, legs, back, the lot and also around the tops of the ears, it does all come away after a few weeks.

We're having cottage pie for dinner. I'd better start peeling the potatoes. Dp just phoned to say he's finishing work now so will get the boys. It's boat race today and mum lives right on the river (not on it but ykwim) so hopefully he'll get stuck in traffic

thehouseofmirth · 29/03/2009 18:04

Calico what a relief for you. Glad all is well.

I have had such a nice day. Went out for boozy lunch with 2 friends from uni. Can't believe we've all been friends for 20 years! One is my friend who has breast cancer, who lives near me and the other lives in Cambridgeshire & we see her once or twice a year but it's one of those friendships which we slip back into as if we saw each other very day. And Tarran slept through the whole 3 hours of it. Bliss!

dinkystinky · 29/03/2009 18:09

Afternoon all.

SMS - sounds like you had a lovely kid free time. I'm glad - you needed a nice break to recharge your batteries. Hope MrsY had a nice time too.

Chilled - sorry you all have flu; I hope it passes soon and you all recover well. I had a particularly nasty bout of it the other week and its horrible. You have my sympathies.

KT - glad you had a lovely time riding. I used to ride as a child but havent ridden in years. Hope Poppy sleeps better tonight.

Calico - glad Lilian has the all clear. Must be a huge relief.

Beantin - am sending you sleep vibes for your DS.

Danny was a little superstar over the weekend (first weekend away with him at friends' place) and slept brilliantly (going for 6 and 3 hour stretches) so feel quite rested despite having been surrounded by 3 toddlers and one baby all weekend... DS1 loved playing with his little friends, was awful with his food (sadly both our friends little boys hoover everything in sight so they had no idea what hit them when DS1 was rejecting their beautifully cooked home made food ) but has been great with his food at home today, loved the Thomas day he went to with them and all in all has been a nice weekend. Not looking forward to tomorrow - the council start ripping up the street (road and pavement) right outside our house (and our bedroom where Danny and I sleep) for at least 4 weeks so along with noise, dust, and noisy workmen there will be no parking for love nor money anywhere near our house with 2 children - oh joy...

MoS - meant to say, my MIL subscribes to the bite them to show them it hurts school of thought. My DH was apparently an impeccably behaved child as a whole

DS1 has just managed to wee all over himself - despite being in a pull up nappy! How is that even possible???

Sorry Chilled - cant help as I had to go out to buy a new pump as I'd lost half of my old one and couldnt find replacement parts for love nor money....

OP posts:
PinkTulips · 29/03/2009 20:14

dinky, ds1 peed last week wearing knickers and pants and it went straight upwards and soaked his tops

trust boys to manage this stuff!

he's officially not grasping the whole toilet thing at all.... he asks to go toilet after he's had an accident and if you ask him if he needs to toilet he says 'no i haven't peed yet'..... have tried explaining it's the other way round but bugger it i think i may just have to concede he's gong to have to be in pull ups a while!

glad lilian got a clean bill of health calico

had a lovely relaxing sunday, older 2 didn't get up til 10.30 and ds1 fell asleep cuddling me on the couch watching mary poppins. aaron slept for about 5 hours in his bouncer during the afternoon too so finally finished my book.

swampster · 29/03/2009 20:17

Chilled, I've not tried it but I've heard you can get parts if you phone Avent up.

MrsY · 29/03/2009 20:41

chilled - it might not help if the bottles are the wrong size, but I have two tommee tippee breast pumps, and I'm ff, so obviously don't need either of them... If they'll help, just let me know.

We did go out last night and I ate my body weight in tapas! YUM! I was very spoiled, and then mum had M in with her last night so got a good seven hours last night! and then we were round to mum's for a yummy roast pork lunch after church this morning, so I've somehow managed to avoid doing any cooking and cleaning this weekend!

rosieposey · 29/03/2009 23:13

Hello all

Havent posted in a while as has been a bit manic here atm. Will catch up and read the thread properly tomorrow to make sure that i know how everybodys getting on.

Alls ok here - Milo has gone around 5 hours between feeds for the last three nights so maybe just maybe fingers crossed he is turning a corner in terms of sleeping longer - yay!

Bad news on the GTT front - i turned up at 8 o clock at the DAU on Thursday and they wanted to do a fasting blood test before the GTT just in case i was already high as they didnt want to overload my system with glucose. Suffice to say the bloods came back in half an hour and i was 8.9 fasting so thats pretty high amd they wouldnt proceed with the GTT. I have an appt with the consultant that looked after me in my pregnancy this Wednesday and i guess then i will find out if its back to injecting or maybe i will go on tablets. Am really pissed off though as my diabetes always went away with my other pregnancys and this time it looks like its here to stay. I hated injecting and stuff so two find out that it looks like i have been left with diabetes permanantly after this pregnancy is a bit rubbish really

I really hope everyone is enjoying their bubs still and that you are all getting a bit more sleep than the last time i checked in, Milo is just starting to smile everyday now and its so sweet - makes it all worthwhile. I will read up on everybodys adventures tomorrow i promise - just wanted to say hello as feel a bit out of touch atm. Had a quick look on FB tonight and the meet is on the 7th right? I really want to come but its the half term and ill have to see what the consensus is with the girls - they might even want to come along too!

Ok well like i said hope everyone is doing ok Will have a proper catch up tomorrow.

SomeMightSay · 29/03/2009 23:34

Hey dinky Sounds like you have a great weekend. Don't envy the road works at all! Our HA are getting ready to knock down a whole street of houses and replace with new build flats, but by the time they get round to it, hopefully Luke will be in ds1's bedroom which is at the back and they would have both adjusted to a new bedtime routine. PITA isn't it?
Also, my ds1 seemedto pee over himself alot more when in pull-ups. I'm thinking that maybe as the nappy gets pulled up, it makes his willy point up and therefore pee misses the absorbent bit? After watching dp re-arrange himself after putting his boxers on, figured maybe it happens with the little people too?
MrsY Glad you decided to go out. feel better for it? You sound it. How's M getting on with the new formula?
rosie Hiya at Milo's sleeping. Hope you get some answers on the diabetes soon, again, it's something I know sweet FA about so can't comment.

I really did have a lovely day and night. I didn't do anything all day, was pure heaven. It does all start the minute they get in though doesn't it?! They didn't get back until 6:15pm, I went down to the car to help dp get them out and up to flat, had to wake ds1 up to get him out of car and he started crying , it sounds like he's getting a sore throat so medicine will be out in the morning. Got all the stuff in, started to unpack and Luke needed feeding at 6:30, so ds1 sat next to me while I did that and he cried, I put Luke to bed and ds1 cried, he was just soooooo tired, so he went to bed. i hadn't seen them for over 24 hours and had to put them straight to bed, how rubbish is that?
My mum also said Luke slept from 6:30 to 11:15pm, doesn't do that here

Viewing a nursery for ds1 tmorrow morning and will et a doctors appointment for Luke to see if I can get this hypo-allergenic formula for the colic, also going to get him weighed as he is so big now!

LittleMissNorty · 30/03/2009 08:19

Morning all

Rosie - sorry to hear about the diabetes....what a PITA...I thought GD went after baby was born as well. Is it permanent now or is there a chance it will go?

DS is 8 weeks today.....where has the time gone? At least the calpol can come out now if needed.

I went to buy Calpol night for my DD yesterday and they don't sell it for under 6's any more . I knew that was the case for Medised, but never clicked it would be for that as well. PITA.

MrsY · 30/03/2009 08:51

Aaargh - just spoke to HV and she said baby girls shouldn't be prescribed Wysoy formula under 6 months because of fennel estrogen... She's trying to speak to my regular GP and get that confirmed and she's gonna pop out and see me this afternoon for a chat. She's so nice...

dinkystinky · 30/03/2009 08:56

Morning all. Rosie - so sorry to hear about the diabetes; hope that its just tablets that are needed Great that Milo is sleeping longer - Danny has started doing it too and it makes such an unbelievable difference doesnt it...

LMN - so no calpol or medised for the under 6s now. What on earth are you supposed to use for their medication nowadays then??? Congrats on hitting the 8 week mark!

SMS - yup, really not going to be a fun month of April with roadworks on going outside. Am hoping the weather improves and gets much warmer so we can all spend most of the day outside. Hope DS1 is ok and have fun getting Luke weighed.

Off to see a newborn this morning and then off to cranial osteopaths this afternoon so should at least miss some of the noise out there..

LittleMissNorty · 30/03/2009 09:06

Oh can use Calpol.....just not Calpol Night.....although I expect I'll use the rest of my bottle (on DD not DS!).

PinkTulips · 30/03/2009 10:02

just had a phone call from dd's godmother to say the guy who was my best friend for years in cork killed himself on friday

bit shellshocked, we'd lost touch the last few tears since i had dd but he was a huge part of my life, we were joined at the hip for years. the only 2 rings i wear are the claddagh dp gave me and the ring this friend gave me for my 18th

i can't believe he's done this to his mother, he was an only child

lost my phone at the weekend so only found out now and the funerals today so there's not even time to organise flowers, never mind actually get down for it.

LittleMissNorty · 30/03/2009 10:04

God PT...how dreadful

McDreamy · 30/03/2009 10:05

oh PT so sorry

SomeMightSay · 30/03/2009 13:21

LMN is it 6 or 12 for medised and calpol night now? I love medised, it really helps ds settle when he is all bunged up.

PT So sorry about your friend. How awful. Are you ok?

rosieposey · 30/03/2009 13:28

PT thats terrible news - am really sorry

LittleMissNorty · 30/03/2009 13:39

SMS - its only for the over 6s now.....I agree its fab stuff for bunged up children.

mumoverseas · 30/03/2009 13:46

afternoon all,
PT, so sorry about your friend, that is terrible, particularly for his poor mother. Sending you hugs xxx

rosie, sorry to read about your diabetes, that is really bad. I've been expecting to get it as late onset diabetes runs in our family and I'm not exactly a spring chicken I hope that it can be controlled by diet/tablets and you don't need to inject all the time.

MrsY, so glad you went out in the end and hope you had a good time with John. Very of the roast pork, I really miss that and bacon.

dinky glad you had a nice weekend too and thanks for that comment about biting. I felt so guilty afterwards but hoped it would do the trick. Sadly not as the litte bitch/darling as just bitten Harrison on the big toe. It was awful as he let out the most awful scream. Thank god her dad will be home in around 20 mins. DD is really playing up at the moment. DD1 and myself took her shopping today and she was a complete cow, kept escaping from her buggy, running riot around the mall and then set off the bloody alarm in the lift. we left very quickly after than

OMG, what is this about not giving calpol to under 6's? I'd heard rumours about medised but surely not calpol too? DH was back in the UK last week and bought some more which was labelled from 2 months, surely thats ok?????????

Thank god I'm going out tonight, DH and I are going with some friends (and about half the ex pat community) to the British Embassy for bingo night. I know, I know, its for old ladies but......
they have REAL alcohol, even bacardi breezers in ALL flavours! I went once a few years ago but its really hard to get on the list for it but thankfully one of the guys DH works with is married to the lady that organises it. Yipeee! So glad we are going out tonight of all nights to get away from DD. DD1 is going to look after DD1 and DS1 will look after DD2. Double the baby sitting money but well worth it

mumoverseas · 30/03/2009 13:47

p.s. Chilledmama, I used to have an avent breast pump which I bought for DD in 2006, will see if I can find it and check for valves.

SomeMightSay · 30/03/2009 14:29

Luke weighs a whooping 12lbs 5oz!
I took him to gp to discuss a prescription formula for the colic, and she looked at me like I was stupid and told me I could buy it over the counter and she wasn';t sure why I'd come to see her , so I told her not according to the pharmacist, I'd spoken to him and he agreed that cow's milk aggrivates colic and told me to get a prescription from the doc for hypo-allergenic formula and he'd order it in. The doc looked at me like I was lying and gave me a prescription for soya milk, so I told her that I didn't want that and she tutted and said it's the same thing but was really rude so I just walked out. Cow-bag

Went to view a nursery for ds1, seemed ok......has had good ofstead reports for past 2 years running, but, uniforms for 3yo? I don't mean a jumper, I mean the full lot, shirt and tie, the lot. At 3. Bit much? Plus homework 3 days a week, and more proper structered lessons than learn through play. Is this normal? The uniform for a 3 year old is just a baffler for me tbh. What do you think?

PinkTulips · 30/03/2009 14:54

my god sms... that nursery would have me running for the hills tbh. they're far too young at 3 for all that structure, sure they have 14+ years of it once they start school.

have fun tonight mos.... you've given me a craving for a bacardi breezer now

feeling very weird.... don't feel i have any right to be upset really as we had lost touch but it's really strange to think he's gone. i still can't believe he's done this to his poor mom though, and he had a girlfriend too

Calico1 · 30/03/2009 14:59

PT what awful news, I'm so sorry about your friend - it must have been a terrible shock.

SMS wow 12lbs 5oz!! My DD only just weighs 8lbs....she's such a little shrimp.
I agree with you about uniforms for 3 year olds...how ridiculous. The pre-school I have just booked my DS into just does yellow t-shirts for them all...how can you expect a three year old to wear a tie!!

Rosie bad news about the diabetes, hope you are not feeling too down about it.

mumoverseas · 30/03/2009 15:06

PT, and it will be even nicer because its haram (forbidden) I love breaking the law out here
desperately need to get out DD is still being a bitch. Whilst I was downstairs with H she snuck upstairs and emptied talcum powder all over her bedroom and the pile of clean clothes I'd put out to pack for our holiday
