hey guys

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
keepingitRia · 04/03/2009 11:13

can you get a bag of dried fruit for next week natty?

being skint stinks. DHs jobseekers claim has been buggered up (again, in exactly the same way they did it wrong last time) so no benefit for us this week. If he gets his holiday pay we'll be OK til it gets sorted, but as he hasn't left a job yet and got all he's due without a fight I'm not holding my breath. And still no start date for the new job, so he has to keep applying for other stuff too.

I am really irritable today (would help if he got out of bed and did something) I want to get the house sorted, but you can hardly see my efforts from yesterday

LackaDAISYcal · 04/03/2009 11:21

I know how you feel about the house Ria. If all my efforts resulted in a maintained tidy house I wouldn't mind putting in the effort, but two days later it's back to looking like a bomb has struck again so I just think "Why bother"

Not sure I'll be up for eating when I'm in there!! I think it'll be done as a day case anyway so in and out again.

DD has a babywipe and is washing her baby with it. I wonder where she got that idea from

TheNatty · 04/03/2009 11:32

lol@DD daisy

ive got some raisins so will have some of them today, and i bought tons of fruit this week at the market, but half went moudly and the rest has been eaten.
it might be cheaper but i would have been better off with tescos.
i dont know how im going to stretch the food, both kids are screaming at me all day long cos they reckon they are hungry, but i cant give them any extra food as we just dont have it.
it doesnt help that DH ate 5 weetabix this morning and now we have none left so its toast all week now.

im so fed up of feeling like i starving my family, but there is nothing i can do.

keepingitRia · 04/03/2009 13:16

can you improvise with stuff in the cupboards natty? porridge is a good filler. or your could bake plain biscuits/flapjack/buns when you have the oven on cooking dinner, even just a 1 egg mix would give you a few buns that would last tthe kids a couple of days. Have you looked on money saving expert/Mnet threadson budget eating for ideas? you need to have words with your DH about eating all the food though (mine always eats the nice stuff)

when DH was in for his first BUPA op, the staff had a marquee on the back lawn behind his room for their xmas party!

Ohforfoxsake · 04/03/2009 13:36

If fruit is going off Natty, cook it and freeze it, or make a crumble and freeze that. Grapes can be eaten straight from the freezer (yumm!)

I don't think piles ever really go do they? I've had them since DS1, and when PG I get one in my fanny. Its gross. Get your suppositories on prescription, or from your Midwife so they are free. And don't forget to visit your dentist whilst that's free too.

What's the situation with your tax credits? Are you getting all you are entitled to, isn't there a healthy-eating benefit-thingy?

LittleMissNorty · 04/03/2009 13:53

There is also that new maternity grant that Daisy linked to a while back that you get a 25 weeks pg....I just missed out!

Where's Sputnik?

I'm sorting through all DDs 0-3 month clothes........some of them are so lovely....brings back lovely memories.....they grow up so fast.

Feel human this morning...went to bed after feeding DS at midnight, up at 3.15 - 4am for a feed, up at 5am for a change of clothes & moses basket bedding and slept until 6.45am....still not great, but 100 times better than recently.

Very re operation Daisy....good for you though. Will be interested to see how it all goes.

LackaDAISYcal · 04/03/2009 14:04

MNHQ are going to get rid of the CBeebie advert

Natty, our local children's centre have a fruit giveaway a couple of mornings a week. You should check out your local one.

Anyone with LOs with poorly skin conditions.....I got some Lush Dream Cream last week and it's fantastic. DDs skin is sooo much better already and it is working it's magic on bumble's cradle cap.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/03/2009 14:08

I love Dream Cream - for me
Need to watch the Lush products on the LOs though - they have essential oils in and many aren't suitable for the littlies. We sometimes use an Ickle Baby Bath bomb in janlets bath as we know they're suitable and I asked last week what else we could use and was told that until she's 3 only butterball, waving not drowning or occasionally Think Pink.

Ohforfoxsake · 04/03/2009 14:18

We had a row last night too jammy. Mustbe something in the air. Or it could be the fact that DP is a twunt. WTF does he choose a time when I'm knackered and generally pissed off to be a twat? If this has anything to do with his work and he came home and took it out on me I will go fucking mad (I've already said that if this happens I won't be relocating with him).

Builders here all morning patching up the conservatory roof and making it safe.

And I've got to take the kids to bloody tennis after school.

Pissed off and bored and angry.

Ohforfoxsake · 04/03/2009 14:23

and that fucking advert is going off again

SHUT THE FUCK UP SID

LackaDAISYcal · 04/03/2009 14:36

They said instore that dream cream is OK. It's working a treat anyway, and I'm using it myself as well

My system is obj my objecting to the rather tasty grilled turkey burger (just turkey mince made into a patty with a bit of flavouring, no added anything!), steamed veg and brown rice that I had for lunch. Is there nothing I can eat????

TheNatty · 04/03/2009 15:02

tax credits have promised to finish looking into our claim by the end of the week, but they reckon even so our money wont go up till april.
basically we are waiting on the housing benefit, which is another 2 weeks at least they said, and we arnt seeing DHs wage at all cos it goes out on rent.
so we are living on 80 quid which would be fine, IF we didnt have hungry electric and gas meters which meant i have to put money on them leaving us with about 50 quid to do everything on.
kids grown out of shoes and are in wellies, microwave broken, cant afford to run the heating more than an hour a day, cant afford to travel anywhere.
its a nightmare.

michael gets a bonus at the end of the month, and im waiting for that, but until then ive got nothing to live on. and if he wasnt getting that i dont know what we'd do.

we're not entitled to anything else because he is working. we have applied for everything we can, but cos tax credits cut my money by 200 a month with no notice i hadnt even applied for them! and they take up to 4 weeks.

everything will be ok again soon its just the next three weeks with no money thats killing me and no one can lend me any, and im not talking to my mum even if she would lend me money (which she wont)

and im hungry!!

keepingitRia · 04/03/2009 16:14

OK, the kids are doing my head in and DH has gone for a bath.FFS (sorry foxy) all he had to do today was a couple of phone calls, and has he??? And if I remind him he'll get all arsey

Roll on bedtime

LackaDAISYcal · 04/03/2009 16:43

natty could you get rid of the gas and electric meters and pay monthly by DD instead? or do you have to keep them as it's a rented flat? meters are shocking; the standing charge is outrageous. It might also be worth getting them checked as they may have been set high to deal with a previous tennant's debt. Call your suppliers asap as you might be entitled to a rebate if you have been overpaying.

I went to the PO this afternoon but it was shut, so I'll post those supps tomorrow. I wanted to get it off to you today, but I felt too rough to walk to the big post office.

feeling proper rough again and have had to call DH to come home again. It's a good job his employers are being good about this. I feel really bad having to call him all the time.

Sputnik · 04/03/2009 17:31

Just waiting for someone to miss me

Sorry you're feeling so crap Daisy, hope you can get the op asap.

Natty those meters really are outrageous as Daisy said. Worth talking to your landlord about it if you plan on staying there.

LittleMissNorty · 04/03/2009 17:35

I missed you Sputnik

Are you all well again?

LackaDAISYcal · 04/03/2009 17:48

i missed you as well sputnik, but have been too full of self pity to say owt about it

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/03/2009 18:02

Good to see you Sputnik. I wasn't sure if you were missing or if I was just unobservant .

Booked tickets today to take jamlet to see this next Sunday (15th). Hope she likes it.

Sputnik · 04/03/2009 18:11

I'm still getting headaches every day from my sinuses, but that's nothing really compared to eg gallstones!
The DCs have been healthy for.... oooh, must be at least 48 hours now!

Not sleeping too well, which isn't heping, as I've decided enough is enough with DS night feeding, so am refusing to feed him at night (not that he usually fed more than once or twice, but any sane person would've sorted this ages ago!). He hasn't cried as such but grumbles a bit and won't go back to sleep and crawls on top of me. This will be day 4 so hoping it should work soon.

Bumperslucious · 04/03/2009 18:16

Hello

I may disappear again as I have a new book, 100 Flowers to Crochet and Knit! I'm so sad! Another long day at work for me and DD was up at 6.30. Came home hungry and grumpy and now lovely DH has gone to buy B&J ice cream, and taken DD! Now there's a keeper!

Sorry for the rows Jammy and foxy. DH and I used to row worse when we were living apart for some reason.

Daisy, sorry you are suffering again! Hope you get your op soon.

Natty, sorry for your shitty financial situation. Hope it gets sorted soon.

DD has settling in session at nursery tomorrow.

TheNatty · 04/03/2009 19:55

dont worry daisy i was suprised u would be able to d oit today to be honest anyway. x

cant have the meters taken out because i have an awful credit rating, and with DH giving up his job they just wont do it.
plus the landlady prob wont want them out.

im in agony again tonight, my stomachs hurting me so much, minute i ate something this evening it flaired up.
if i wasnt pregnant i just wouldnt eat for 48 hours which is what i normally do. but i feel like i should really eat and i come over all faint if i dont.

im having a rubbish day

?

LackaDAISYcal · 04/03/2009 20:18

that's an arse about the meters natty, but maybe you can have them reset if you are paying too much? you said before it was costing you way over the odds.

I'll get that stuff posted tomorrow as DH will be taking me to the hospital tomorrow afternoon.

and OFFS...as if this gallbladder nonsense wasn't enough, I got my fucking period today

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 04/03/2009 21:19

Sorry about your financial troubles Natty. I've heard that's a procey way of getting your leccy/gas, but no experience I'm afraid.

Daisy, no competition with your gallstones, but I'm now on day 16 of this period [

keepingitRia · 05/03/2009 07:49

morning.

welcome back sputnik

natty, it couls be worth ringing them, if it's only your credit rating and not a massive debt then there might be a lower rate? Does your church offer any kind of help to families struggling? or don't churches do that any more?

I went to bed early to avert a row. DH said he was going to hoover yesterday, but he didn't, so I took the kids to the GPs - he did the hallway. And he just left the washing up. He is really a fecking lazy bastard He is still in bed so hopefully there won't be any sighing and going back to bed for "an hour" today

Think we will have to take DS2 to docs today, I suspect tonsillitis.

keepingitRia · 05/03/2009 08:48

natty, do you know what size the DCs feet are? Baggins has just grown out of a pair of Doodles in a 6.5F. I was going to ebay them, but you're welcome for DD if they would fit. They could be neutral - they are blue camo lace-ups.
