Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LittleMissNorty · 26/03/2009 17:31

Thanks Tallulah....will be doing a bit of research and changing - especially as the only person I liked (the nurse) has now left. There is a new surgery opening up near here - but I don't know if I am in the catchment area....will see. I hate being treated as I am - and you'd think in my job, they wouldn't be so patronising (my midwives were never like this) but they are on a different planet I think.....I was very tempted to put in a complaint after the AD issue when I was pg, but I think she was very careful what she wrote in my notes IYKWIM......

TheNatty · 26/03/2009 17:45

norty i had a crap GP and changed, you can check how far it is from you online? i think cathchments are a mile radious from the surgery is it not?
oh and if u ask really nicely they can let u join outside of it, you just have to write to the practice manager. i kept my gp the whole time i was in croydon even tho at one point i was 2 miles away.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/03/2009 18:23

What a day! Jamlet has been troublesome most of the day, and I am worn out by it all. I nearly gave her away this afternoon! Loads of stuff to do as we have friends for lunch tomorrow and are going on holiday on Saturday, but I didn't get any of it done Really fancied some chocolate (tried low fat hot choc drink, but it jsut didn't cut it) and DH has brought some home, so we will have to see how strong my willpower actually is!

TheNatty · 26/03/2009 18:26

i think u deserve a treat, just have a small one tho..

LackaDAISYcal · 26/03/2009 19:49

Oh doggus . I'm so so sorry. Take care of yourself and give yourself time to grieve. There is lots of lovely wonderful and warm support on here for the now and later, if you decide to try again.

My day just got worse. Took the kids to IKEA to get a stair gate, and Dd insisted on walking round and would scream if I tried to put her in the trolley. Anyhoo, they still have the highchair that she has so I wanted a matching one for bumble. fine, but was told to go to the customer collection warehouse to get it. So, paid, got the kids in the car, drove to the warehouse, got the kids out the car......only to find it was a 20 minute wait. Didn't get the stairgate there, so went into Toys'r'us as the kids had vouchers from Christmas. Found a matching stairgate to the ones we have and got some toys, but was having to stop DD from trying to take the whole of the ITNG range home with her. then we had 15 minutes of checkout roulette with every queue I was in stopping dead and having to change to the next till, meanwhile DD was trying to chew her way through all the choc bar wrappers or tryoing to smuggle them into the trolley. than another ten minute wait to collect the stairgate and awful traffic due to roadworks. Only had time for a quick cuppa before going out again to DS's school as i had promised to take bumble in for their child development lesson. That was good fun actually, and the most random question "Is he scared of insects or does he like to chase them?" . then a friend came over and her DD's piercing shreik scared the life out of bumble who wouldn't stop crying everytime he looed at her.

Late with the kids tea, bt thankfully all in bed by 7.......and reeeeeeeelax

TheNatty · 26/03/2009 20:33

gosh daisy u busy woman.

know what u mean about walking toddlers, ellen drives me nuts atm wanting to walk. i wont let her tho, she screams blue murder at me instead

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 26/03/2009 21:25

Jamlet walked part of the way round Sainsburys today. She wanted to look at every packet of veg that was in her reach so we progressed very slowly through the veg aisle until we got to something I wanted (tomatos), which she then carried which allowed us to speed up a bit. But a couple of aisles later she started playing about and fell over. She then lay there giggling and kicking her legs and someone smiled and laughed at her, and then she thought it was a great game and kept doing it every few yards. She then almost knocked a shelf load of glass bottles of olive oil over (the mess potential! ) and at that point I decided enough was enough and forced her back into the P&T.

I don't really have many parenting rules, but one of them is children under 3 in supermarkets belong firmly in trolleys!

TheNatty · 26/03/2009 22:58

hear hear!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/03/2009 06:37

Be careful what you wish for!
I am going to the gym this morning so thought last night that I must get up in time to prepare lunch (friends coming) before we go out. Fine. Jamlet woke up at 5.10 this morning, so I've loads of time. Pasta and veg already cooked!

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/03/2009 08:56

After doing a late night bathroom and kitchen clean last night, and an early morning lunch preparation today, I got a text saying lunch was off It can't be helped of course and at least everything's clean but still

HellHathNoFury · 27/03/2009 09:18

Jammy that's bollocks. I have a 'friend' who does that to me all the time. Hence I never bother cooking anymore and if she does in fact turn up we go out.

HellHathNoFury · 27/03/2009 09:41

Apparently DH is doing an interview with the FT today.... errr why? He's not Theo Paphitis or anything?!

LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 10:17

will look out for him on the online version fury ....and lol at theo paphitis. Your DH is much more aesthetically pleasing than that!!

We have had a challenging morning....for a change . DD was refusing a nappy and just wanted her trousers on. she had the option of cloth pants, nappy pants, dispo nappy or "fancy" nappy....."no like it" was all she would day to any of them and when I grabbed her she was screaming at me. We were meant to be going out to stay and play and missed it because of her mucking about. Anyhoo I let her run around in just a tshirt, which she did until she squatted on the floor (about two feet from the potty!) and weed and then she asked for her nappy back on .

LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 10:20

Got DD one of these yesterday (but paid a tenner in toys'r'us ). she absolutely loves it and has been pulling it around everywhere with her, then she sits in it to watch TV

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/03/2009 13:06

That loks good Daisy. Love the idea of DD sitting in ti to watch TV Shame you didn't get it at it's best price, but hey ho.

Ohforfoxsake · 27/03/2009 13:26

I'd like to come and post.

But fear my smugness would kill the thread.

Suffice to say it has been a good week for the foxcubs

shite for me though. Flu and pelvic floor giving up on me. Not a great combination. And now a weekend on my own, LOs MMR this afternoon, and a jam-packed weekend of taxi-ing to parties and footy. Not looking forward to it.

But I am sooooooo fucking proud of my children.

JammyQueenOfTheSewers · 27/03/2009 13:33

So you should be Foxy - and you do know that they're turning out so well because of the great job you do looking after them don't you? You're a fab mum!!

Sorry you're not feeling so great yourself though Hoe the weekend turns out OK.

Me? I'm off on HOLIDAY in the morning!!!!!

LittleMissNorty · 27/03/2009 13:46

Hello

So parents evening went well Foxy? ....Well done!

Where are you off to Jammy?

Just me and LO today.....been working since 8am though (think I'm supposed to be on mat leave???). Now I've finished, need to start on the housework!

Have just lost my rag with busybees....oh I've been in meetings all morning, oh sorry, she's at lunch .

Sputnik....love the supermarket rules . I try very hard not to take any children to supermarkets (all ours are 24 hour opening round here!)....DD wants to inspect everything I pick up then turns around and launchs it into the trolley...delicate or not. I went with her last week and she cried / screamed / whinged all the way around, and I just kept saying "I'm not taking any notice of you"...god only knows what people were thinking (not that I gave a shit)...made sure I missed out on the toys aisle though!

HellHathNoFury · 27/03/2009 13:50

DS is like that norty, but if I give him something to 'help' and 'carry' (even tho he's sitting down) it helps... so he can carry a tin of tuna or some pasta or some rolls or something for a little while then he thinks he is helping. Makes it marginally more bearable.

I am stuffing my face with chcolate, I bought a load in for my colleagues, the benefit being I get to eat it myself.

HellHathNoFury · 27/03/2009 13:50

Foxy why are you smug then eh?

LackaDAISYcal · 27/03/2009 14:37

c'mon foxy; we love a bit of smugness in the parenting department .

I have just taken two to the supermarket . Wasn't too bad. DD was being very cute and waving to everyone and bumble fell asleep. My first rule is to make sure they have been fed before setting off....makes life more bearable.

Reet, post office then school pickup.

Ohforfoxsake · 27/03/2009 14:51

Thanks guys (Jammy, you brought a tear to my eye - sniff).

Parents meetings Fury. Each teacher said "If only I had class of 30 DS1s/DS2s/DD1s". I did cry in my first one . And DD1 had her open ballet class today and she was so perfect, and DD2 did us proud sitting there for 45 minutes, and she's just had her MMR, cried for 5 seconds and was quite happy again, and, and, and .

I'm just so farking happy with them. Even took them to the shop and gave them £2 each for a mix-up bag. That's a lot of sugar and blue colouring We're going to take them out for the day on Sunday when DP is back. Fancy taking them for a run in a forest or farm or something.

Ohforfoxsake · 27/03/2009 14:54

Oh and I take them to the supermarket, but not if I actually need to do a shop . Far better to do it as an 'activity' IYSWIM, when I have no imagination for anything else (helps that there's a Starbucks next door too). I used to take them to the toy shop as an 'activity' but that got too expensive as I couldn't help myself. I would never, ever take all of them in one go. Despite their perfectness

LittleMissNorty · 27/03/2009 15:39

That's lovely Foxy .

DP not coming back from Oz then?

I've just had my first huge proper smile from DS ....was beginning to wonder if he was ever going to stop being a miserable little sod.....funny that, its when I called him a miserable bugger, he smiled
