I cna't believe you've been out Gem I can't see me going anywhere for at least a year!!

Re: the photos I would say as little as possible. I think new born piccies look really nice with half naked fat little babies.

Verso · 03/05/2005 08:47

Hi there. I've only just realised you have this group set up.

I won't post much as I'm feeling very low and don't want to get anyone down Am off to baby clinic this morning (my first outing on my own) so I'm a bit nervous. Things have been difficult as I had to go back to hospital with v unpleasant complications and to be honest I still feel traumatised really.

Keep telling myself to take one day at a time and it will get better, but it's hard. Hope everyone else is finding it easier than I am!

Gem1355 · 03/05/2005 09:19

Verso sorry to hear your not feeling all that well. hope you start to fel better soon.

Darcie is doing great and as she gets older getting very active!

Hope everyone else is well.

Morning all.

Verso - sorry to hear you're not too good at the moment. Read your other thread and was sorry to hear what happened. Just take a day at a time and I'm sure you'll be feeling fine again soon - is your midwife/HV supportive?

Just trying to get back into that groove of nightime feeding (yuk!). Ryan not bad last night - fed at 11.15 and then went round to about 3am and then woke just before 7am. Mind you he managed to put away 9oz between about 9-11pm!!!!!!! Methinks he may not be v. hungry today .....! Have put a piccy on profiles now - I know I shouldn't say it but he looks so scrummy I could eat him - of course all the April babies are gorgeous too. Bye for now.

Verso · 03/05/2005 19:23

Thanks Merlin and Gem. The health visitor is great - really encouraging me to write a formal complaint, and today chasing up some special counselling for birth trauma for me. I can't quite bring myself to write the letter yet but I have promised myself I will tackle it when my friend comes to stay next week. (Going over the events just makes me feel really horrible so I'd rather do it when I have moral support here!)

It was good at the clinic. I found out Anneke is doing really well at catching up the weight she lost when I was in hospital, and also got really listened to and felt understood and sort-of cared for, which makes a change. I was given a list of different GPs too, as they all reckon I should change since mine was so unresponsive when things were bad.

So I daresay things will get better. It's just not always easy to believe that.

sending big hugs to you verso

Gem1355 · 04/05/2005 19:25

Hi to all!

Darcie was weighed again today and now weighs 8lbs 6oz so she has put on 10oz in 2 weeks. Other than that all is good. Hope eveyone else is well?

Hi Everyone - just been catching up on how your little angels are doing.

Jack is now 2 weeks old and is putting on weight at quite a nice speed. He is already over his birth weight. On Wednesday he weighed 8lb 2oz, so guessing he is about 8lb 4oz now - he gets weighed again on Thursday.

Had the inital problems of him only sleeping on DH or myself during the day and night, but by day 5 (3rd day at home) we had bought him a lovely new moses basket, as he hated the one we were given by my step-sister. Managed to get him to sleep in that so at least DH and i have free arms now!

He sleeps for about 2-4hours at a time, and feeds for about 30-45 mins at a time. Although i am BF we have introduced a formula bottle at night as we have found that he sleeps for longer!!

Still think it is weird that we have had this little bundle in our lives for 2 weeks - it has gone so quickly.

Hope you and your bundles are all doing well.

Take care Aprilmeadow x

Hi everyone, just been catching up with news of your babies, good to hear they are all doing well. Freya is four weeks old tomorrow - gone so quick! She is lovely and until couple of days ago just slept ALL the time (except after night feeds when she seems to want to party!) Seems to be a bit more awake now and is gaining weight at an alarming rate so all is good. Off to meet NCT girls for cake now so will check in again soon...

Merlin · 12/05/2005 17:16

hello - just a quickie. Ryan was weighed yesterday - 10lbs 5oz the little chubb!!!! Trying to keep him awake for longer in the day is a bit difficult but I guess we'll get there. Hope you're doing OK Verso and everyone else. Those babes are growing fast!!!

aprilmeadow · 12/05/2005 19:26

Hi,

Jack got weighed today - is now 2 weeks and 4 days - and is now 9lbs 5oz. That's a 1lb 3oz gain in a week!!

Been to see the vicar and have booked the christening for the 5th June, which is the same day as our 1st Wedding Anniversary.

I have managed to lose 1st 9lbs so far, only another 1 stone to go, although not in too much of a hurry to get the weight off.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Verso · 13/05/2005 06:52

Hi everyone

Anneke was 10lb 1oz at the clinic on Tuesday - so she's doing great! She's one month old today . I can't quite believe it - it's all gone in a bit of a blur.

She has a couple of long 'fussy' times each day at the moment though - from mid-morning to about 3pm and again from about 6pm to 11pm. Anyone got any tips for how to get through these? She doesn't settle properly after feeds at those times and gets herself very wound up (and gassy from crying - aargh).

The rest of the time, she feeds and sleeps... and yesterday gave me her first big proper smile!!!! I thought it was gas (!) until she did it again three times during the day... and again this morning.

So things are looking up a bit I think. Still waiting for the postnatal NCT group to be set up - and looking forward to meeting more other mums locally (I've met one so far), as I find a good whinge (and chocolate) does wonders.

starshaker · 13/05/2005 07:33

alana has the same moment from about 6-11pm i found she was hungry and wanted more then she settles better also use colocynth (sp) granules which help with her wind and she loves the taste

Gem1355 · 15/05/2005 11:06

Hi everyone,

Darcie is doing well, She is drinking her 8oz bottles dry now! Am trying her on flavoured water today as she doesn't like plain water!
hope everyone is well?

8 oz?
Glad to hear all the little babies are doing well. The twins are still only having 4oz feeds, but they are both weighing well over 10lb now, so doing well. Our routine seems to have gone to pot for the past few days, but hopefully we'll soon be on track again. There are pics of the twins and my older dks here if anyone wants a peek!

Gem1355 · 15/05/2005 11:40

Kelly they r gorgeous!!!!!!!!!

OP posts:
Merlin · 15/05/2005 11:47

Kelly - those boys are scrummy!!!

Gem - Darcie sounds like a hungry miss - 8oz!!!!! Ryan is taking about 4-5oz each feed. Also has that unsettled time from around 7-10pm (luckily not every night so far!) - got some Chamomilla granules which seem to help with the wind/colic. Tried to put him for a nap in his big cot this morning in his room for the first time - oh dear he was not happy!!!. Then put the moses basket in the cot and he went straight off!!! His older brother went straight to the cot at 4 weeks - guess Ryan is going to be a litle different (or awkard as DH calls him!!).

Anyway off to a BBQ this afternoon, the sun is shining so a good time should be had by all.

Take care everyone.

Verso · 15/05/2005 15:12

Kelly - your twins are SO gorgeous!! Beautiful photos. Thanks for sharing them - they made me smile.

Where would I get chamomile or colocynth granules? A health food shop? They sound like they might be worth a try.

I haven't tried Anneke in her cot yet, though she is rapidly outgrowing her Moses basket. Thing is, we're still trying to get the hang of putting her down semi-asleep and her not immediately waking up on contact with the mattress! Yesterday was a nightmare. Today seems to be (so far) a lot better and I've managed to put her down several times. She's also been feeding a bit more systematically today too (ie giving me short breaks here and there while she takes a nap).

My mother is coming down for the week today and I'm not sure how it's going to go. Given that she still went on holiday when I was really ill and re-admitted to hospital, and also told me last night that I must be over-feeding Anneke if she is eating all the time, I have to say I'm not especially looking forward to it!! Here's hoping it all goes ok.

Hope everyone manages to get out today and enjoy the sunshine
