Hi

Nice to hear from everyone!!

Merlin Darcie has about a 3 hour nap between 12 and 4pm.

Changed Darcie to C&G blue powder and she was really sick on it yesterday, not to bad so far today, but might have to change back to the cartons as i think the powder is to rich for her.

Her milk spots r starting disappear and hopefully they will all go for her christening on july 10th.

Weather down here is terrible, hasn;t stopped raining!!

Getting Darcie weighed on Friday as she looks alot chubbier!!!

P.S heard from CSA about Darcies father Jamie he is disputing paternity and has asked for a DNA test to be done, he said is 95% sure Darcie is his but wot about the other 5% he said wants to make sure before he has to shell out thousands of pounds!!! as he doesn't want to know Darcie so therefore he shouldn't pay for her.
Thats out of the horses mouth!!!!

Gem, its horrible when absent fathers get like that - I used to feel so angry and upset for ds and dd, so i know how you feel. Try not to let it get to you tho. ds and dd's father paid regular maintanence til one year just before Xmas, when he announced he couldn't afford it any more (only £20 a week btw) and left em really short that xmas. Now, we live 200 miles away from him, and although he had them every weekend before we moved, he hasn't seen or spoken to them in nearly a year now. I don't even bother with the csa, as I don't want the hassle or his money.

The CSA are being really good but its Jamie, who's wasting his money on the test That he could give to Darcie when he knows what the result is! ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH

XP used to say things like that, I'm sure it was to annoy me more than anything else. Don't let him get to you, you've got a beautiful baby, he's the loser in all this.

lol
How come he hasn't told her?

Gem1355 · 24/05/2005 15:05

I think its because he doesn't want to know Darcie so he's afraid to say to his mum that he has a daughter, as she might tell him to grow up as has responsibilty now!

And because he doesn't want to know he's made the decision for the rest of the family!!! Without even consulting them!!!

It seems very sad that his mother doesn't even know. I hope you get it all sorted soon, gem.

hi all

lockets - so sorry to hear about your friend's baby. It does remind you of what's important in all of this. Hope she is doing ok.

Gem, sorry to hear XP is being such an a*se.

Verso, I'm bfing too. I did with DD1 too - remember finding it a bit of a drag at the start then but by month 2 or 3 was loving it and went on until 7 months when I had to go back to work. Must admit that like 006 I am a totally shameless Bf'er - my best was having her hanging off my boob still feeding as I ran up to the counter at the Embassy to submit her passport application. I'd waited for ages and really didn't want to miss my slot but knew if I took her off all hell would break loose. She wasn't bothered. It can be difficult with the older generation but I hope you can stick with it regardless. Shame they can't support you.

You know what I hate about BFing though? leaking boobs meaning I have to wear a bra in bed at night to hold the breast pads in. I HATE it!!!

Bigger boobs are ok though, I'm now a massive 36C or D. Way hay

anyway, hope the April babes (and mothers) are doing well.

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! I'm glad to hear it's possibly about to settle down a bit, as it's been a bit mad for weeks now. I also definitely need to get some bigger bras I think...

Lockets - did I mention South London before or was that just a lucky guess? Yes, I am in S London. Are you?!

Another b/feeder here. Alexander generally feeds every 2-3 hours during the day and then feeds virtually constantly all evening from 6pm to 11pm and then sleeps until 4am - so not too bad I guess. Unfortunately he seems to take ages to settle after his 4am feed as he tends to be very windy at this time so not too much shut eye is had before dd gets up at around 8am.

I went to the cinema with Alexander yesterday to see Star Wars which was a bit of a novelty (cinema does a 'Big Scream' showing to which under ones are welcome at 11am every Tuesday) - it was the first time I have gone and will defintely try to get there again. DD goes to nursery on Mon & Tues so it is a good time to do something relatively normal.

Hope the babies continue to pile on those pounds!

Thanks for all the replies about breastfeeding. Helps to know how it's going for other people as I am so new to all this. It also helps to know that it generally starts to settle down around week six, which is where I'm at... I will let you know!

Lockets - I'm in Streatham Hill. Where is Earlsfield? I've heard of it but my geography is rubbish as I've only lived in London for a few years (that's my excuse). I'm definitely up for meeting other mums, though I can only get to places on public transport as DH takes the car to work and I'm not on the insurance anyway as I think people drive like lunatics down here!

I would write a longer message but I have a chance of a couple of hours' sleep so I'm going to head off for now... zzzzz

verso - hope you had a nice snooze and that things are going ok today

I'm in Herne Hill so not far from you I think, if Streatham Hill is anything to do with Streatham that is - in fact I drove by there on my way to mothercare world today

let me know if you fancy meeting up anytime
you too Lockets

went to look at the baby room at nursery for Esther today - won't be long til I have to get back to work. Dreading it

Streatham Hill is in between Brixton and Streatham... it's also near Tulse Hill and I get the Thameslink to work (or used to), which goes through Herne Hill, so I know where you mean. When do you go back to work, Motherpeculiar? And was that the Mothercare World at Purley Way near IKEA? If so, that's my second home these days!

I'd love to arrange to meet up, as long as it's doable by public transport.

Feeling a bit low this morning, which is weird since I had a good night and A has just gone down for a nap. Just getting sort-of flashbacks of the birth and aftermath etc and feeling like I'm going to have to say no to any more children, really, as I am way too scared to go through that again.

I have my first postnatal counselling session at the hospital next week, which I'm hoping will help, though I'm not really sure what to expect.

motherpeculiar · 26/05/2005 09:10

you poor thing Verso - hope the pn counselling session helps.

If you can reach brockwell park easily - between tulse hill and herne hill, I'm sure you know it, we could meet for coffee there. Otherwise I drive so am very flexible. Do you have many friends locally with babies?

I'm due to go back to work 2d a week from end July but am taking some holiday in August so really I'll be going back towards the end of august. I'm hoping to swing it so that I can work mostly at home until October at least, so that I can keep E on breast milk until 6 months (like you I am not great at expressing, although I do find that the electric expresser is tonnes better for me). It's a good excuse anyway - I don't like the idea of her at nursery before 6 months at the earliest. How about you - are you planning to return to work (outside the home that is of course )?

hope all the other april (and may) babes continue to thrive

Hi eveyone,

Verso - sorry to hear you've been a bit down about things - I'm sure the counselling will help.

Ryan weighed in at 11 lb 101/2 oz today - now just above the middle line! The last 2 nights he has also settled back down to sleep really well after his 3am feed so fingers crossed we've cracked that one!

Hope all mums and babes are doing well and are not feeling too tired! Should be a lovely sunny weekend so no excuse for not getting out and pushing that pram (Delgirl?!!!!)

So far I've only been in touch with one local Mum with a baby a similar age to mine. However, I'm hoping that is about to change as I've found out that my local NCT postnatal group is due to start next week!

Most of my friends live elsewhere and either don't have children, or have older children, so I think it will make a big difference to meet some more people in the same boat. It definitely helps to get out and about. I've been out this afternoon and feel much better for it.

I'm not sure where Brockwell Park is, but I can look it up and will let you know if I can get there.

I'm planning to go back to work in early November... but that's not set in stone as such.

Hi,
Don't want to butt in, but I live in Croydon, just down the road from Streatham. I'd love to met others with babies.

What a nightmare going back to work is. i'm due back end of july (in brixton), but whilst preggers, moved to kent. Now i can't imagine commuting (as i can't drive) coz that travelling time is keeping me away for longer. Knew i would be attatched to dp but had no idea how much!
