The babies are growing up so fast!

ravi has been crawlign about a week or two now, and today managed to pull himself up using his toybox and walk across the room pushing it in front of him. I was so shocked - he's only a baby! I need eyes int he back of my head now. Akshay isn't on the move yet, bt is rolling to get where he wants to go so he is doing fine.

It does seem strange looking at the April 2006 thread, around this time last year I realsied I was having twins. Def not broody though, though maybe I would be if there wasn't two of them.

Darciesmum · 20/11/2005 17:29

Hello everyone,

Well Darcie has no teeth and isn't crawling but can move around fine but shuffling on her belly!!!
Eating everything you put in front of her, and when its not in front of her lol. and the good thing is i don't have to puree anything now.

Can really clap now and started to wave on friday nite, my dad loved it!!!

I'm on holiday now till Jan and i'm loving it, of on maternity for 7 months back for a month and half then off again i'm the talk of my dept.
Its given me the time to do my xmas shopping which i have nearly finished and given me time to take darcie swimming which she loves.

nice to see all the babies doing so well, i get broody seeing the april 06 thread, but i have to find a man if for when i want my next one. he he

Jack has been really poorly - nasty cold and cough - has managed to give it to me, DH and my Mum. Doctor made us go to our local A&E on Thursday due to high temp and rapid respiratory rate (was 100 and should have been 30)! BUT, by the time we got there and got seen you wouldnt have thought anything was wrong - little monkey!

He is desparate to crawl, and isnt too far away from it. Spends most of the time on his front shuffling around. We stood him up the other day and he started moving his feet and kind of walks with help. He thinks he is very clever.

Got him weighed the other day and he is 20lbs 11oz.

Looking forward to having mondays off - got lots planned like swimming (he loves it), seeing friends and family and doing some cooking.

leggymamba · 21/11/2005 20:37

We were also in A&E but on friday with the same thing! Also became very happy once we got there! They must have compaired notes on MN when we weren't looking!

Has really upset his sleep though and have had a wek of him waking up at 3am and refusing to go to sleep until 6am - fun! Thank you to whoever said about medised though got some yesterday and had fantastic nights sleep - had lie in until 5.30.

Patrick was weighed in hospital and was 24 lb - am doing the usual paranoid mother and worrying about him being obese! never happy!!

how weird LM!

I think Jack has become immune to Medisedstill wakes at least once a night, can take upto an hour to get him back down. Dont think i would fancy 3hrs though!

I have a friend whos DS is 26lbs+ and he was 7mths last week. Once they start crawling they burn the calories off - i think chunky monkeys are cute

Jack is still a fussy eater, i am sure he doesnt eat enough, but with him being at nursery i cant totally monitor it. We are STILL giving him at 10.30 feed and a bottle in the night. I dont know how to break the cycle - DH wont cut out night feeds as he feels that we should wait until he sleeps through, where as i want to try and do it now. Its like banging my head against a brick wall . he likes the simple and easy life, but i want to try things just to see. ARRRGGGHHHHHHHHHHHH

Verso · 22/11/2005 05:53

DD had a trip to A&E with the wheezes a while ago too. It must be doing the rounds. She sounded much better after we'd been there a while as well, but was wheezing again by the time the paediatrician saw her, and she diagnosed croup . She's just had another bout of coughs/wheezing this last week too. This time it just got to the bronchiolitis stage, which is nasty enough, but no croup this time thank God. Looks like we'll have a busy winter, as every time she gets a bug she's likely to get a nasty chest with it. Apparently she just happens to be susceptible to these things.

Other than that, she sprouted two teeth last week . They caused her some discomfort and messed up her sleep a bit, but that was also the nasty bug she had as well. (Typical, as she's never been a good sleeper, but had finally started sleeping for good chunks on quite a regular basis. Oh well! Good job I'd never really become accustomed to it.)

Glad to hear everyone's little ones are doing so well, coughs and colds notwithstanding. Can you believe it's almost their first Christmas?!

Darciesmum · 22/11/2005 20:37

Hello

Well i can't believe all the babies having colds etc, darcie is still full of it but looks much better today.
Had her weighed and 17lbs 1oz so put on about 8oz in 3 weeks so all good!

aprilmeadow · 23/11/2005 14:11

Put my new plan into action last night:

  • started by giving a rusk to DS before bed
  • then gave bottle
  • didnt wake him for a feed before i went to bed.
  • woke at 02.20am and had 4oz milk
  • woke at 7am!!

My new plan, is to cut the milk feed out gradually and replace with water - you ladies probably did this months ago! It worked sort of, and meant that in stead of having 20, yes 20oz of milk between 7pm and 7am he only had 12oz. This meant that he ate all of his breakfast and 5oz milk. He normally manages 2oz and 2 spoonfuls!! Going to do the same tonight and hope for a similar result!

He has almost gotten over his cold, although i feel like poo!

Hope everyone is well.

Merlin · 23/11/2005 21:14

We have tooth no 2! They grow up so quickly don't they? Still haven't cracked the nighttime sleeping though - although he's only waking up maybe once or twice now so it is an improvement of sorts! Hardly sleeps in the day though - maybe 30-45 mins in the morning if I'm lucky and the same again after lunch and that's his lot.

Loving all his food and I'm sure he'll be crawling by the weekend, let alone Xmas! Yesterday he started pulling his knees up and pulling himself forwards rather than backwards so that combined with the constant rolling means he can get just about anywhere

Hope all the little ones with coughs and colds are better soon.

Roobietherednosedreindeer · 24/11/2005 17:50

Hi all.
A has 6 teeth - he had the bottom two from very early on but his top 4 seem to have popped through all of a sudden! Bf is still going strong but we seem to be regressing somewhat and I have been suffering from really bad cracked nipples for the first time - he doesn't bite me as such but feeds very vigorously and yanks himself off often grazing me with his teeth (the varmint!)
Despite going strong on the solid front he has also taken to waking in the night whereas when he was exclusively bf he was sleeping through no bother from the early weeks - they're such enigmas aren't they?!
He is a bit of lazy boy too and steadfastly refuses to roll over unless he is put on his front in which case he flips onto his back and stays there! His legs are really strong however and with minimum support he can remain in a standing position for a little while ...talk about running before you can walk!
Anyway, not looking forward to going back to work on 19 Dec... the one upside is the dosh however!

Darciesmum · 28/11/2005 20:14

Well what week we have had, first my Cousin was admitted to hospital with severe stomach pains and being really sick, which after loads of tests and scans turned out to be Appendicitis so was taken to surgery, and was out the next day.
Yesterday my Uncle collapsed and was shaking uncontrollably, and was rushed to hospital, but is fine but turned out to be a side effect from the tablets he was on for his allergy problems which is a long story. And whilst he was taken to hospital my mum was there with him and running to meet the ambulance she tripped and has badly sprained her wrist so its all been going on i haven't stopped.

It always happens in 3's in our family

Well safe to say me and Darcie are well, nothing wrong with us fingers crossed lol.

Hope everyone else is well and looking forward to xmas!

aprilmeadow · 29/11/2005 17:06

Congrats Lockets hope your feeling okay?

aprilmeadow · 10/12/2005 10:04

Congrats Lockets! What an amazing year for you and your family.

Darciesmum · 10/12/2005 10:11

Darcie has said another word now, Dada not impressed but easier to say than mummy, so i'll let her off! LOL

Its all exciting shes crawling backwards and pulling her self up onto the furniture, can't believe its all happening in one week!

aprilmeadow · 10/12/2005 10:35

Jack isnt crawling as such, but pulling himself along the floor at a high speed! Think he would be crawling if we didnt have laminate flooring downstairs.

Nursery have taught him to say 'ta' when he is either wants something or is given something. I guess it is nice and easy to say and is similar to dada. They did say thathe had said mama, but i havent heard it yet

leggymamba · 10/12/2005 12:28

wow lockets, congratulations. Hope you're feeling well, I should think that you don't have time to feel sick or tired. I had a scare a couple of months ago, made me realise how scarey a third would be.....good luck!

Patrick has put all his energy into eating and growing (he's very good at that!). No teeth, no crawling, no speaking, not even sitting up! Everyone told me that boys were generally slower and he is definately proving them right. Looked a photos of his sister and she was sat up clapping and waving by now. Have been trying to teach him to clap - he doesn't get it and just thinks it's funny.

Has everyone had their 7 month check yet? I realised that I hadn't even got the letter about it yet. Tried ringing clinic but no-ones got back to me. Is it still at 7 months?

Lucy99 · 10/12/2005 20:48

Congratulations Lockets, fantastic news! Hope you are feeling well. Don't think we'll be giving Freya a brother or sister for a good few years yet. She has taken to waking up for over an hour in the night, every night. We can't work out why, think it may be teething (no sign of any actual teeth yet though) whatever the reason it is exhausting! Seems to have developed a cold now too so think it will get worse before it gets better. She is crawling and into everything, pulling herself up to standing and can climb up onto the sofa by herself which means we can't leave her for a second. She never stops thrashing around, grabbing my hair and trying to suck the face of anybody who is brave enough to pick her up!! Don't know how she will get on at nursery, every time we see friends with babies she leaps all over them and makes them cry.
I have extended my leave until the beginning of February and just found out that they have said yes to my request for a four day week so dh will have her 1 day and so will i with the other 3 at nursery. Looking forward to being able to read the paper in peace on the tube in the morning and have a break from singing old macdonald!
Leggymamba, we have an 8 month check here (east london) but when the appointment got sent through last week it is not actually until she is 9 months. Not quite sure what they will be checking, i avoid the health visitor at all costs so not looking forward to it. Every question I asked them in the first few months was answered with - 'hmm, i'm not sure really...it's probably nothing to worry about' gave up asking anything in the end! hope all the babies are well and you are all looking forward to Christmas x

Darciesmum · 11/12/2005 11:50

We have got another word from Darcie it is Yeah!
I'm so proud don't want to go to work tomorrow incase i miss something!

I've put in a pic of her this morning on Members Profiles!

kiskidee · 12/12/2005 01:23

Congratulations lockets. I think that you are the first of us to be pg again. Not me for a long while I'll say!

My, what an incredible baby, Darciesmum. My lo is happy playing peekaboo, standing all wobbly, and crawling backwards, much to our delight.

kiskidee · 12/12/2005 01:32

oh yes, got a card thru to see the hv for the 8 month check on 04/01/06. I am wondering if I should bother too. I am thinking I will more out of curiousity as the card is from a new hv. I am curious to see if she will be better than hv1 who recommended i top up dd with formula at 2 wks cause I had flu, which, funnily, I have at the moment and still managing to bf w/out formula .

Also have a separate appt for the hearing test. I feel like they are wasting my time as I see no problem with dd's hearing but I guess I will end up humouring.

Darciesmum · 15/12/2005 18:36

Hi

i haven't had a letter about darcies 8 month check and she's 9 months on the 30th. And she was due a hearing test at 8 months and nothing there either.
Shes started to do the commando crawl forwards now quite funny!
