Poppy- sponge beat me to it! Re: clinginess, I have to say that this happens with us a LOT with me. If babypearls is ahving a good day she'll happily play with other people and if not, then I hold her a LOT (not necessarily through choice.) It's a natural progression and a sign of alertness (or so I've been told) since it tends to result from their awareness of the world expanding around them!! No help I know, since all yo can do is really live through it x

neenztwinz · 19/02/2009 22:40

Poppy, I agree, CC would definitely not work on Theo when he is like that! He is just awake and interested like you say. Definitely a case of keeping him awake in the afternoons. As long as he is not in the pram it's not a problem, but how do I keep him awake if for any reason he has to be in the pram at that time?

You have to add the notes application on FB (I did anyway) - I think I did it through settings.

Rolf · 19/02/2009 23:36

Poppy - I don't know what to suggest for Edie, I'm afraid - my DD1 is such a oddbod that I'm really the last person to advise. Was it just today or has she been like this for a while? Is she tired or run down? DD1 is both and it's making her a bit weepy. Lots of extra cuddles and attention is my rather trite suggestion, wish I could be more helpful.

Well, I tried CC - went in every 5 minutes to pat her and say "night night Thea" and in 25 minutes she was asleep, although she made rather tragic whimpering noise for a while after that. I really want to go in and make sure she's ok but trying to resist.

I was up anyway as DD1 is spooked about being in her room alone, so I was sitting with her while she fell asleep. She has terrible catargh (?sp) which is giving her a cough and affecting her hearing. I have had no success in teaching her to blow her nose so the poor girl is floating on snot

Neenz - the Big Sceam is at FACT in Liverpool every Thursday at 11am. www.picturehouses.co.uk/cinema_home_date.aspx?venueId=fact&feature=Big+Scream. I'm not going next week but I'll see what's on after that. You're welcome to join me . Sometimes I go on my own and sometimes with a friend.

Not a bad night! Up at 12, 2 and 5, then up for the day at 6. But crucially: back in her cot each time!! So nice to have that long stretch between 2 and 5 too. And watching her, I think she might self-settle if I left her to it a bit longer. Going to try giving her a set time before I pick her up if I can stand it - maybe 10 mins.

pureeandpearls · 20/02/2009 07:58

Yay Systems! We were awake at six too- is it just me or is thatjust too early???

Did anyone else watch ER last night? I know Sponge did...I had the most awful dreams as a result. Have been grinding my teeth too as have very sore jaw now!

abdnhiker · 20/02/2009 08:02

A great night here, up from 4-5am but that's mostly because of a cold. Fraser's doing better now that we've dropped the dream feed. He's still up in the night but actually later (how does that make sense?)

CC is great when it works, but in my experience not every baby can sleep through the night at this age. My two are so small for their ages and so active that they both need/ed night feeds. DS1 outgrew it at around 18 months. However, CC got us to great sleep habits otherwise and it's no where near as bad to be up once for a quick feed than up every two hours. (hugs systemsaddict)

Oooh - HH and neenz and essie have found me on facebook - can other people find me and add me as a friend if you can? I'm not sure who's who and don't want to email random strangers (first name is Trish ). Josey's listed on my friend list too - initials JC if you can't recognize her from pictures.

spongebrainbigpants · 20/02/2009 08:10

Morning all, off to have my repeat bloods today but will have to wait til Monday for the results .

AH, have just added you as a friend on FB!

Essie3 · 20/02/2009 09:41

Five answer me on the new thread, here

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 20/02/2009 09:43

Same here five !

Amber how are you feeling today?

Sponge I hope the weekend passes quickly for you.

I am taking dp to the spa today. All three kids have been booked into the creche for 2 hours for a bargin £6.15. I think in all honeslty we will be quite bored for that length of time but it will be good to relax.

PiggyPenguin · 20/02/2009 11:16

Just posting very quickly as off out with kids for family day but AH - you have the same first name as me!

Also, I'm far too soft for cc. Yes J is an appalling sleeper but I am a big fat wuss and will still rock him to sleep. Big respect for those of you who can do it though

neenztwinz · 20/02/2009 21:56

Wow it's been quiet on here today - where is everyone? I have been to my gran's funeral . It was really lovely though and it was my vicar who did the service cos gran's vicar has terminal cancer and is on sick leave. Gran's church is in same deanery as mine. My vicar is so cool that my dad said he would actually go to church if they lived here! So mum is putting their house on the market tomorrow. lol, not really but they have been thinking of retiring to this area (nice and flat, near the beach, nice little village centre for lunches with daughter and grandkids ) so the church thing has sealed it for mum. They retire in May so hopefully they will be able to sell their house and move here . The house next door to us is empty, an old lady lived there and died about five years ago, so I am going to try to find out who owns it and see if they will sell it. My mum currently lives next door to one of my sisters and it is great for her. I would love it if they lived next door!

Theo took 3 hours to go to sleep last night - DH had to lie on our bed with him until he just conked out. Then he moved him to his cot and he did not flinch at all - totally out of it. Tonight he didn;t go down very easily but it was only 30 mins or so.

He slept through last night after he eventually went to sleep and E woke at 4.30. I did CC with her and thought she'd be asleep in a few mins (3rd night of CC) but an hour later she was still wimpering. When I went in she was chewing on her hand so I gave her Calpol. Poor thing went to sleep immediately . Hoping they both sleep through tonight cos we are off to the camping show in Birmingham tomorrow . Exciting stuff! Then I have to go to a wedding in Blackburn tomorrow night - I will be knackered! We were going to go to the show today but with my gran's funeral we couldn't. So got to go tomorrow and take the twins with us. We must be mad .

We are watching Grand designs and there's a little baby on there adn I keep thinking it's Theo. So glad when I realise it is not!

Rolf, when I first had the DTs I looked for a baby cinema and didn;t think there was one here! 11am is a really bad time cos they have lunch at 11.30 then a sleep so I don't think I will be able to do it but thanks for inviting me! Did you have your NCT coffee morning?

DebInAustria · 20/02/2009 22:16

Neenz - we're on the new thread

Glad the funeral went OK, Fingers crossed about your parents moving closer , next door would be too close for me though. Good luck at the camping show with your dt's
