New home!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
parofleurmapu · 18/02/2009 21:32

oooh and i think chris martin is quite dishy actually!!! Fleur loves his latest song too

bitofadramaqueen · 18/02/2009 21:35

Oh really paro? Hmmm he's not my cup of tea - like coldplay stuff tho. Bono's eye make up was just wrong!

neenztwinz · 18/02/2009 21:41

I have spent 55mins I will never get back reading that thread Amber - it was very strange!! And I still don't understand what expat's problem was...? Bizarre!!!

bitofadramaqueen · 18/02/2009 21:44

Ooh where is it neenz did I miss the link?

neenztwinz · 18/02/2009 21:49

Amber posted a link on p33 I think 'polite things' or something!

bitofadramaqueen · 18/02/2009 22:15

Thanks neenz. Managed about 6 pages before getting very bored!

AliandHerScallywag · 18/02/2009 22:22

A friend of mine played cricket at school with Chris Martin. They called him "Tosser Martin" for the obvious reason, apparently.

Only saw bits of the Brits as was watching Kirsty and Phil on Sky +, which was also v annoying this week.

Essie3 · 18/02/2009 22:42

Back again, e-mail totally not working so will have to get in touch tomorrow, Amber, star of the day!
The naval gazing - weeeeell, joining BDQ in the pedant corner is Essie: I think bellybutton is navel, and naval is seafaring-related, so naval gazing = looking at sailors, surely? Which is what you were doing.

Agree on Duffy's dress. But girl done good for Nefyn - da hogan!

BDQ, you old pedant, Iestyn just turned eight months, but to out-pedant you, I thought it would be appropriate for the timing of the thread as the babies will be turning 9 months. Iestyn is slap-bang middle of June, only beaten to the exact (pedantic!) mid-point by Alex and Luke! We could do it for the next thread instead?

Deb your link made me laugh. That thing is HUGE! Does it have additional towers and barbed wire? I was thinking I could use it to pen sheep once Iestyn has grown out of it! A sheepish (jealous of your huge rooms, actually...)
Forgot about e-bay so will now go to surf.

Essie3 · 18/02/2009 22:49

Totally bizarre. Just looked on e-bay for the babydan room divider, and there's only two (s/h) and both are in my area! It's meant to be!
(They're actually nearer the border, Neenz, so I'll be coming your way!)

Essie3 · 18/02/2009 22:50

I missed the Brits, btw - watched Juno. Weird.

pureeandpearls · 19/02/2009 07:16

Glad you think that Essie- I thought the same when I watched Juno. Was also going to offer to have Iestyn as we are in Bromley so if Amber's too busy looking at sailors, let me know!

Wasn't around yesterday as was my wedding anniversary and my daughter's nine-month birthday (she's one of the oldest here I think) which she celebrated by doing her first poo in the bath

Debs- that is not so much a room divider as a country divider [Essie should get one too- she could seal the border between England and Wales post-rugby ]! Totally love the idea of super baby too- can't wait to see the pics.

Five- what a week! Hope t ends soon xxxxx

Babypearls was awake at 6 again- she keeps pooing early in the morning. What can you do about that???

Sure I had more to say but my mind is a blank....

abdnhiker · 19/02/2009 08:01

pureeandpearls - no fruit before bed? Happy 9 months! Now I'm figuring out who you were - i got a bit lost when you name changed.

spent an hour in bed with DS1 this morning from 530 onwards until he fell back asleep. Now he's snoring away and Fraser and I have enjoying the peace.

thread-title - we're not whizzing through these in a matter of days anymore so I expect at least half the babies will be turning nine months in the next one (20 days in on this one already).

We have mice again I had to throw one out yesterday (trap too - no way I'm taking it off the trap) and I heard another snap last night. DH will be back for the weekend for trap duty - uggh! I can tell I grew up in the middle of a big city.

spongebrainbigpants · 19/02/2009 08:09

Morning all!

at spongelet - very cute!

Essie, the pedantry did make me laugh - you're worse than me! And fab news on the bottle!!

Chris Martin and Bono - yes, both total knobs!

5, hope your kids are both fully better soon .

Can't remember any other points! Brain slowly shrinking further!!

OP posts:
pleasechange · 19/02/2009 08:15

Morning all
aberdeen hope you get rid of the mice soon!

essie that's great Iestyn took the bottle! . And sympathies to you and sponge on your MIL's! neenz you got it right on the 'passive aggressive' - I hadn't thought about it before, but that's exactly what she is

five hope you family all get better soon and amber hope you're feeling better as well

I finally rejoined the gym and am going for the first time tonight - if I can drag my bum there that is

DebInAustria · 19/02/2009 08:27

Puree - hope you didn't celebrate your anniversary in the same fashion as your daughter.

lol at the county divider we're getting, Stefan would be most impressed if it came with towers and barbed wire - he loves anything army!

Tristan's Birthday tomorrow, balloons blown up, presents wrapped now got cake to make Going to have a snow party with playing int he snow, hot choc, marshmallows and cake!

goingtohaveagoodnightssleep · 19/02/2009 09:10

Morning all!

Hope you are well sponge will be checking this thread mostley for your updates!

Neenz My main concern is that the coil has fallen out as very light periods are normal for me. Will get it checked out as when I tried myself i couldn't find the strings!

Essie3 · 19/02/2009 09:43

Oh my god, can a coil be taken out by you? It makes me feel faint, the thought of tugging it out...
Puree we are as one. I thought Juno was supposed to be a sweet little film, but I found it quite weird. And way, way too positive. You can get pg at 16, look great, stay cool, let's not focus on the birth at all, and giving up your baby will be so easy! Oh, and your boyfriend and you can start your life together properly once you've got rid of the kid. There was something just not right about it.
And thanks also for the offer of babysitting! I sometimes wonder what I'd do without this thread. What do mums who are not on mumsnet do?? Sorry about the bath poos, though.
I should perhaps have mentioned that the wedding is no children. Previously I was all for that, but now I find it a bit annoying. Bromley, btw - you're not very far from me (when I'm in London).

Deb you should rig up watch towers then for Tristan. I will do the same. After the rugby? I'm going to do it now! Still that your house is big enough, though; I'd have to keep my back door open and let it go through into the garden!

Essie3 · 19/02/2009 09:45

p.s. (a) 5 thinking of you, hope both are better soon. (b) Deb, can I come to Tristan's party? Sounds lovely!

neenztwinz · 19/02/2009 10:02

Abdn we have one of those electric current mice deterrers (or something like that) this, we used to have a terrible problem (I think it was actually the same mouse, we kept chucking it out the front (right across the road) but it kept coming in. We thought they'd been coming in through the back but in fact we now think it was the garage (hence why the mouse kept coming on from the front). Anyway, since we have used the electric thingy we have had no mice at all. We have plugged it in in the garage.

Deb, enjoy the party. I thought the room divider was ace. How long is it?

Ooh, Goingto, hope you get it sorted.

I also thought Juno was a bit . And no kids at weddings has always annoyed me - but there are always restrictions on space and money so it is not always possible. You have tio respect the wishes of the couple but finding childcare can be hard! We took the DTs to a wedding last summer and it was a nightmare. I would have preferred them not to be there . We had 30 kids at our wedding

Sponge - how did Alex sleep? We are back in soap opera territory here... I am logging on thinking 'ooh, I wonder how Alex did last night?'. Esther woke at about 3am again and moaned for about half an hour. I only had to go in to her twice and she wasn't that distressed this time - I think she knew what was going on! And she seems in a much better mood this morning. I think I heard Theo having a gripe as well in the night but I just left him. And we all had a lie-in till 8am. I love CC .

Upsidedowncake · 19/02/2009 10:15

Morning

Abdn, hope the helicopter was nothing to do with you or Josey's DHs

SPonge,

Essie, like the thread title/

I get some help on my second from cousins and my MIL in America but my mother has never, ever helped. I think that's why I'm such a Gina Ford fan as it's the only way I can cope!

Re eggs, I found out last week that DS is slightly allergic to eggs - which explained why he threw them up until about 6 months ago.

Essie3 · 19/02/2009 10:16

Fairly rubbish soap opera, though! Alex sleeping, Iestyn and his bottle, babypearls and the poo, and the v&d spread...Although we do have Celebrity Deb.

abdnhiker · 19/02/2009 10:41

Not us thankfully but My DH is coming home today on a helicopter. It's reassuring to hear that everyone survived though - makes you feel like the safety measures are more than just for show!

abdnhiker · 19/02/2009 11:07

DH just called - he's landed safe. Oh, and it shouldn't involve josey's DH either as he's on different assets.

neenz -thanks for recommendation for the electronic mice repeller. I started another thread but no one suggested that and even if it just sort of works, it should be perfect!

5 how are you all today? thinking of you and Amber as well...

systemsaddict · 19/02/2009 11:19

Just seen the helicopter thing - how fantastic that everyone survived and no serious injuries! They must be so professional.

We had such a rubbish night last night that Caitlin slept in to recover. Which meant we all overslept (me by an hour and a half longer than usual) because I don't expect her to miss her 6 am feed! Hoping against hope this might be the start of some longer stretches though, and we did miraculously make it in to work on time, though house looks like a hurricane has swept through it as I had no time to do anything other than breakfast - clothes on everyone - leave. Cheerios are stuck to every kitchen surface with Weetabix cement.

allnew your MIL story reminded me that there are also lots of benefits of not having any family close by!

Amberc · 19/02/2009 12:48

Hi there - don't worry about me any more - I'm over my illness - hurrah!! Essie - when is your wedding BTW? Do you really want me to look after I as I need to do a bit of planning if so...if you'd rather get a babysitter don't worry I won't be offended!

I did think of Aberdeen when I saw the helicopter thing this morning. Glad everyone's OK.

Hey Essie - re the soap opera - how about Sponge's news - that makes for good soap opera!

Puree - Luke has pooed in the bath about 3 times although unfortunately I have also been in the bath with him. Mega eurgh.

I am way to frightened to get a coil although I know it would sort my periods out. Maybe after I've sprogged number two I'll be brave enough. I told Mark that once I've had a second child (touch wood) I want to have a tummy tuck and lipo!
