morning.....snowing again here this morning. Not a pleasant trip to school pushing the buggy through the icy ruts. they don't grit the side roads or pavements here and it's a bloody nightmare. In fact they haven't even gritted the main roads overnight so the snow is starting to lie already. I'm hlaf expecting a call from the school later to say they are closing.

sorry Dd is poorly jbm. We've not had hfm, but I know someone who had it as an adult and they were very ill with it. I hope she is feeling better soon

I went out last night . Proper out as well; not just to the supermarket!! To a lovely Tapas Bar where there was live music. Very relaxed and nice to catch up with some friends.

keepingitRia · 05/02/2009 09:45

morning daisy.
no snow here, am very glad DH didn't go to Durham today though. where he is is treacherous enough if we get any snow.

just having a cup of tea before I get started...

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/02/2009 12:16

Morning all - oh tis afternoon already. How time flies!

Huge Congratulations Norty. Love the name. Hope you got some sleep last night.

We had our longest sleep so far. Babies finally settled around 11:30 & both woke for feed back just after 4am, then straight back over till 8:30. Hoping for repeat performance tonight.

LackaDAISYcal · 05/02/2009 12:24

I was just wondering about you tallulah and how you were getting on.

that's good news on the sleeping, but .

Hope all is well chex norty and that DD is loving her new baby brother.

how is DD doing with your two babies T?

keepingitRia · 05/02/2009 12:43

sounds like a good night Tbelle (even I am of that, although we only had baggins in with us til about 5am last night)

so Daisy, if a house is being built to have triple cavity wall insulation do they make the cavity bigger, or do they just cram 3x as much insulation into a standard gap? Or is that not your area of building?

I am off back to my conservatory (despite it being fecking cold in there). 2 windows and half the floor left, then I'm putting that radiators on timer.

LackaDAISYcal · 05/02/2009 12:48

not sure what triple cavity wall insulation means ria. maybe a composite sheet made up of three separate insulation materials? the cavity width would be adjusted to take account of the thickness of whatever went in there and still leave a gap.

is this a new house?

Bumperslucious · 05/02/2009 14:08

Hello all

JBM sorry to hear about LO. Hope it passes soon.

Just been to look at a second round of nurseries. The one we had decided on from the first two had given away the place by the time we got in touch. So we looked at two more today and finally picked one. It's lovely, the two main rooms have sofas in them, they have a little soft play room, it's just lovely. The second one was just awful, it was in the basement of a house, it smelt damp and of peas which were boiling away on the stove the whole half hour we were there, it was shabby, dark and one of the girls was taking the LOs into the kitchen to do a bit of painting individually, one at a time . Anyway, our nursery is fab! Haven't got a start date yet though, I'm loathe to give up my knitting group!

I have to renovate a "virtual" house in a sustainable way for my next course assessment daisy. Hence my obsession with toilets and cavity wall insulation. Thanks though daisy.

nursery sounds nice bumper - are you going back to FT working?

it is raining. I am going to get wet on the school run

LackaDAISYcal · 05/02/2009 14:24

If it's an existing house any insulation is just pumped into the cavity; no alterations to the cavity are done. There might be insulated plaster applied to the inside of all the external walls but not sure how common that is. Some general renovationinformation here

If you need any more advice ria, feel free to email or FB me.

keepingitRia · 05/02/2009 14:31

thanks daisy. I was fairly sure that an existing cavity couldn't be changed so was wondering if the just put more in. Maybe it is something you can only have on new build (I have got all this info from the DVD but it wasn't very detailed, so maybe details don't actually matter, just getting the idea of the thing right). Any insulation is more energy efficient than none though, I will build a south-facing conservatory instead. AM going to do my first draft tonight with a bottle of wine

has anyone seen the picture of Jude Law in his new film as a transgender man/woman? It is SO not fair that he is a better looking woman than me

LackaDAISYcal · 05/02/2009 14:36

I thought that about Jude as well!

that's a better looking woman the me, not you, obviously

Sputnik · 05/02/2009 14:43

Welcome home Norty
Hope you are getting some rest.

Natty that is really shit, I hope you can get some decent advice.

HollyPutTheKettleOn · 05/02/2009 15:44

Jude Law is sexygorgeous in any guise!

keepingitRia · 05/02/2009 16:37

it's SOOOOOO cold

keepingitRia · 05/02/2009 18:43

oh bollox, baggins just bashed his head on the computer desk. his nose is bleeding (although he has just taken the tissue off me and wandered off), I hope he hasn't broken his nose. (same sort of accident as when DS2 broke his nose)

Is he OK Ria?

hey burnsy, how goes it with you? DD loves to help with chores as well; her favourite jobs are taking the cutlery out of the dishwasher and putting it in the drawer, and moving clothes from the washer to the drier.

I'm coming down with some sort of lurgy. I have a skanky metallic/acidic taste in my mouth, sinus headache and my right nostril is on fire and keeps bleeding....bleargh. Bumble has been out of sorts as well and is pukey and pale and very sleepy. I hate winter.

Ohforfoxsake · 05/02/2009 19:34

Thanks for the advice on my thread Daisy I have been investigating Poynton and I like what I see!

Butterfly, thanks for the inspiration! We are having chocolate/marshmallow and jam/marshmallow pizzas for our Friday treat tomorrow. The kids are very excited!

Hope you are all well and have had a good day

TALLULAHBELLE · 05/02/2009 19:42

Evening - how's everyone? Is B ok ria? How is DD, JBM?

LackaDAISYcal · 05/02/2009 19:53

A couple of our friends grew up in Poynton foxy, and one of them has recently moved back there with his young family.

Saddleworth would be good if you have a love of snow (and other precipitation) though! They get a lot of weather up there

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 05/02/2009 20:19

I'm back Had a fab time. Didn't miss jamlet until mid morning today when I started thinking about going home, and then I couldn't wait to see her. Had lots of lovely cuddles when I got back Not got time really to catch up atm, as MIL here and don't want to be totally rude after she's looked after DD (and DH!) for 2 days (and suffered a 9 hour train journey in the snow to get here!). But hope to be back properly tomorrow. Oh and I was obnoxiously healthy while I was away - passed on (almost) all the unhealthy parts of the buffet lunches (I had 3 chips), turned down 2 meals out in favour of M&S salads, drank tonnes of water instead of coffee (and passed on the biscuits too), and walked everywhere despite the snow, dragging my wheely suitcase behind me.

LackaDAISYcal · 05/02/2009 20:24

glad you enjoyed your time away jammy.

i'm glad you're back as I have a question. What was the name of the pram place in Norwich? I can't find the delivery note for the P&T or remember the name of the shop. I've tried googling but nothing looks familiar.

JammyQueenOfTheNewYear · 05/02/2009 20:37

It's baby-pages.co.uk I think (or DH thinks to be more honest)

LackaDAISYcal · 05/02/2009 20:38

thanks jammy, that rings a bell

LackaDAISYcal · 05/02/2009 20:42

aha found the order confirmation saved somewhere obscure on my pc. I can call them tomorrow now!!
