Wilkie - congrats on the blue

Shimmer - glad you're enjoying it, sounds totally exhausting

Raisin/eandh - ditto on sleep deprivation. Am shattered. And have so much less patience when shattered

Who was asking about milk? I don't intend to swap mine over to semi skimmed any time soon TBH. I admit I am totally anal about what they eat and drink, but as far as milk is concerned, I feel they are 2 healthy and very active kids in no danger of obesity. I think at this age they need calories, especially since I'm so anal about what they eat otherwise !

We had a burst water main here, which was a PITA as these things are. The whole mains pipe is rusted to hell. But the complete donkey who had the house before us built an extension over the water main, so if we decided to replace the whole pipe to prevent more bursts (or if we don't replace it and wait until it does burst again) we would have to dig up the floor and remove half of the kitchen to reach it . This is the same twat as did DIY plumbing and electrics which left us with an enormous leak in an unearthed house

Maybe another 2H in 9 months time ...?

Wilkiepedia · 05/02/2009 19:49

2Happy - remember to make DH wear a condom

What system are you on?

2Happy · 05/02/2009 20:05

Windows XP

He'll be wearing the spare bed duvet. He came home at lunchtime and left at 1.45 to go to a town (in normal conditions) 15mins away, said he had no other calls after. Never came back. Phone went straight to answerphone. Fair enough, maybe he had another call... but never called me, never called me... have just got hold of him now and oh yeah, he had a foaling, he's on his way home now. He could've bloody realised in these conditions I would be little anxious about hearing nothing for 6 hours! Men!

Hey everybody - labour update!

Started having contractions Tuesday evening, they got to every 4 mins by Wednesday morning. Then completely stopped by Wednesday evening. Have now started again but I'm ignoring them. No show, no waters.

Bloody fucking PITA babies. And my stupid body playing up again. Thought 2nd labours were supposed to be shorter/easier?

Oh, and the latest on the grit drama Chez Urban - dh went out this morning to grit the road so the mw could get up the hill to see us and BOTH grit boxes are empty, because people have been chucking loads down their drives. Fucking selfish pricks.

Can you tell I'm not in a very good mood right now?

Reggiee · 05/02/2009 20:46

Hey Raisin I was just thinking about you after seeing your FB update. Please reassure me that 2nd babies births are better...please....pretty please...sob...
Keep us updated!

Wilkie was wondering what you were asking re what system 2H was on....

Awww, go on 2H. I reckon you are secretly broody...Did you ever get my email btw? You free around 20/21 March.

Can't decide what to do tomorrow. Pavements are ice blocks and getting the car out of our snowy icy drive scares me . Don't think I can face a day indoors though. Maybe bus to town...

Reggiee · 05/02/2009 20:49

Oh, and Raisin (PCF and Wilkie) please all do the toilet roll bump measurement test so we can compare later

Wilkiepedia · 05/02/2009 21:07

Will do Reg, am a fat bastard right now!

2Happy - shut down all programs running. Check your small icons on right hand of tool bar and exit everything you can so nothing additional running in background.

Go to 'control panel'-'performance and maintenance'-'Free up space on your hard disk'

Clear that up first, just delete what it is telling you as is just old fragmented files etc

Then go 'control panel'-'performance and maintenance'-'Rearrange items on your hard disk to make programs run faster'

Select your main drive (usually C) and click 'Defragment'. Leave it running - usually takes about 2 hours

Raisin - how annoying but you aren't due for a couple of weeks are you? I had loads of false starts last time for a good 2 weeks before giving birth 9 days early

EAH/LAL - hope your trip isn't going to be cancelled with the weather

eandh · 06/02/2009 05:39

Morning, can you believe I am wide awake and they are fast asleep

Raisan - how exciting am going to check fb status to see how things are

Rgee - bus sounds a good idea

2happy - did you defrag [and go on have another did dh understand why you were concerned yesterday

Wilkie - I don't know ant Edie's what a cool name and can't wait to hear the toilet roll results

After lots of worrying/internet searching/calling/texting it seems out tri still on Dublin airport reopened and running with slight delays and gatwick/stansted and east midlands all open so phew, have packed and almost ready, have also packed the girls bits and got all the swimming stuff ready so dh can take them [they are all decamping to IL's for the weekend]

raisingrrrl · 06/02/2009 07:33

Right, lots of pain in the night. Pelvis feels like it's gonna fall through my arse. Still nothing regular though. Oh, and we're snowed in. Can't get either car out. No grit left thanks to selfish neighbours. So if things do kick off it'll be an ambulance - or possibly dh delivering it himself!!

Lizzzombie · 06/02/2009 10:27

Do your neighbours know you are about to give birth?
Thats incredibly selfish of them to nick all the grit when they know its imminent.
Can DH not explain situation and take some grit back?

We have no snow here at all. Its really weird hearing you all talk about being snowed in. Its just damp here - as usual.

What time is EAH & LAL leaving for Dublin?
Y'know there is a live web cam somewhere by the Liffy Bridge. I reckon we should organise them to moon us/wave to us at a certain time! I'm off to look it up now....can you tell how bored of HW I am?! x

Lizzzombie · 06/02/2009 10:36

There is one HERE Which pans from O'Connell Bridge to the H'apenny Bridge. (Think they may have to wear big hats so we can see them though!)

THIS one is actually on O'Connell Bridge. So they would have to stand in the middle of the road!

raisingrrrl · 06/02/2009 11:20

Lizzz - the trouble is that people have used all the grit chucking loads of it down their drives, when only a sprinkling would do. It's not just our immediate neighbours, but the whole street, which is why both grit boxes are empty. Just makes me cross, because dh used the grit to do the whole street and the hill up to our street, and everyone else has just done their own property. What's wrong with people?

We just went out for a walk down to the petrol station to get some milk which I'm hoping has kicked things off a bit. Was not great walking back up the hill with driving snow in my face though!

Lizzzombie · 06/02/2009 14:06

UPDATE FROM THE RAISINGIRRL:-

"Bit of stained leakage, going into hospital to get it checked it out"

She is 37+4 now (but dates were always a bit rough)

Its heavy snow where she is, and she would very much like lots of positive birth vibes as she is feeling a bit of a wuss about it all. (The baby, not the snow!)

All very exciting!

2Happy · 06/02/2009 14:08

Positive vibes flowing from here [excited] Keep us updated x

Hey everybody - back from hospital! Membranes are still intact, but waters are leaking. Head turns out to not be fully engaged after all, so either my gp was mistaken or baby has slipped out! The mw we saw at the hospital was lovely, and much nicer than either of the community mw's, so I'm seriously re-thinking my home birth plans now!

eandh · 06/02/2009 19:59

Oh raisan I thought they'd be baby news on that post but glad all okay

Well after the trials of stansted having snow and dublin having issues with icy runways it appears all seems to be back on track so in theory Lauaghlot will be flying at 6.25am and me at 8.10am and we should be meeting u arond 9.30am and start our shopping trip although I think we have also planned every restaurant/meal for the 2 days

Will loiter on MN for a bit then early night as need to be u around 4.15am for my brother to pick me up at 5am

Reggiee · 06/02/2009 20:41

Have a great time Eah and Lal!

Raisin, so back to the old waiting game then....

Wilkiepedia · 06/02/2009 21:18

Rasin - exciting! On a serious nte though, why doesnt DH dig car out and stick on main road? Or if you have table salt that melts the snow just as well as grit (talking from experience as our grit box empty too). Good luck and keep us posted

EAH/LAL - have a great time!

Little Boo kicking loads tonight, feels lovely

Lizzzombie · 06/02/2009 21:47

EAH/LAL - Did you see the links to the webcams I posted?
I think you should see if you can find them and do an Irish Jig for us or something! To prove you got there ok!

Raisin - Glad bump is still cooking. Hope you get some sleep. x

Shimmer · 06/02/2009 22:07

Thinking of you Raisin. Lots of positive vibes from down this way! I'm excited for you

Dragonhart · 06/02/2009 22:25

Glad all ok Urban. Hope you get some sleep too.

EAH and Laughalot hope you have a great time. Weekend away sounds great!

2happy- v belated happy bday to ds2. Sorry, we have had another week of illness in the house (and therefore sleepless nights!).

Cant wait to get Rachel onto solids really as the bf is getting me down a bit atm. Thought I would try her this week as she is only a week off 6m but she has a bad cold so decided to leave it for a week. Was also going to put her in her own room but she sounds awful with her cough so again decided to postpone it for a week.

Just want a break really. Realised that i have not had more than 1.5hours away from her since she was born as breastfeeding. I have never really got the hang of expressing and that is what I get between feeds. Last few weeks she was goning to every 4 hours but now is having a growth spurt so back to every 3 and nightfeeds which has mad eme feel even worse than before.

Decided to give up bf after I have weaned her as I have pretty much been bf or preg for 4.5years. Just feel worn out by it all.

What a moaner!

On the upside, this week after getting totally sick of Luke hitting Ruth all the time, we told Luke that if he didnt hit this week, he could earn a Spencer train (from Thomas for those of you with girls!) for his wooden train set. If he got sent out of the room for hitting he lost a magnet from his reward chart and if he lost more than 2 he would not get the train.

Guess what! He will be getting the train tom! I am amazed. He lost two magnets early on in the week and I thought he wouldnt be getting it this week but since then no hitting at all!

Now just have to work on Ruth's biting...

eandh · 07/02/2009 03:06

Lizz I did see the webcams and lol but dont fancy standing in the middle of the road

Raisan - hope you had some sleep

DH - sounds very tough re the feeding I cant offer advice but hope things get easier soon for you and well done to Luke

I have had the grand total of about hours slee went to bed at 9 and nodded off then dh woke me when he came u at 10.45 but nodded off till 12 when Hattie woke u took me till 1 to settle her [think she has one more tooth to come although I thought she had them all] then I couldnt get back to slee so laid there till 2.30 and have given up now, I;m going to lay on the sofa till 4 then go and get washed and dressed [and hope I either have a nap on the flight or Lauaghlot lets me have a snooze this afternoon before we go out tonight ]

eandh · 07/02/2009 07:08

well I'm at the airport and checked in and eaten some brekkie, LAL is mid air and my flight is on schedule. I'm bored now though so have soent a £1 to have 10mins of MN time both me and Lal had to have full bag searches though
